The manager is very kind and easy to work with. Units are spacious and employees friendly. They answer all questions as well as they possibly can. Resolve problems quickly.
This crew knows what theyre doing and is always super helpful with my RV propane tank fill. Many places wont help/fill it. The store is clean and well stocked and bathrooms are nice. Thanks U-Haul!!!
I submitted a reservation three weeks in advance for a couple of UBoxes since I was moving out of state. It was a Thursday deliver, so I called on Monday to confirm my reservation in order to schedule the movers and was given a three hour window for delivery. On Wednesday afternoon after 3:00 pm, I received a message that I had been bumped into the next week. No new time nor was I asked if this was convenient. I called UHaul and was told to give good thoughts that the boxes would be delivered. I rescheduled the movers and spent hours on the phone the day prior trying to confirm the new appointment. I was hung up on twice, once the lady laughed at me before hanging up and spent hours on hold! I eventually got someone who said the driver would call me. But by 3:30 no one had called. I spent another hour on the phone before being told, I had been bumped again! I cancelled my order, called another company. I will never work with this company again. They are rude and do NOT care about the customer. How can someone plan a move when they are jerked around? Beware, do not use them!
Like another review I would give them a 0 if I could. Very poor customer service. Poor phone service. Poor knowledgeable employees. Poor everything. I will never do business with them again. I will go somewhere else.

If I could give zero stars I would! This has been absolutely the WORST customer service i have experienced in a long time. Paulette is the manager but I can never get ahold of her. Ive left several messages, voicemails, Ive contacted the corporate office as well as the president of the company and still have not heard back from anyone! I have placed a deposit for a tow hitch to be installed on my vehicle, had an appointment for installation on may 22nd at 8:00am, got there after a 30 minute drivewaited in line only to be told the part has not arrived. Fine, I understand things happen, was told by paulette she would have the part EXPEDITED from the Sacramento location and its already been way over the time I was told. STILL have not received a call with any updates regarding this, I have been having to call and ask about it and I cant get anyone on the phone! I was placed on hold for 26 minutes last night and got connected to customer service finally only to be told to contact paulette! She NOT helpful and honesty I dont think she really gives a damn about what shes doing at this point, sometimes people are just around for a paycheck🤷♀️ Im still stuck in the same position Ive been in without any answers. My deposit was taken though! Communication is KEY to running a business, and they lack it big time. Ive been extremely patient and Im loosing all patience at this time.
It’s a long story and I am exhausted so I’ll just say that I have done plenty of rentals through U-Haul and I’ve never encountered an entire location where the staff was curt and discourteous throughout the entire experience. Even the return lady was bossy and seemed annoyed to deal with me. It’s just too bad. Not one person smiled. I love the Mister car wash now, they smile and wave and are happy I’m there. To even get the rental I had to cancel the entire order and walk out of the store to call the manager’s manager (Chris I believe) and get it straightened out. Then I had to go inside and start the rental process all over again. That’s after I had already downloaded the app, fixed my profile up, uploaded my license pictures, etc. It didn’t make the process smooth and it wasted a ton of my time. :0( Young man with his Apple ear buds in dealing with me originally was obviously on a power trip and was ultimately completely wrong. Then the manager claimed I was uncooperative to her manager after I called him but she didn’t realize that I was standing right behind her in the lobby. I crossed my arms and loudly told her to tell him the truth because that was not the truth; I hope he heard me. Anyhow, everyone has room for improvement, myself included, but this location needs a complete customer service overhaul in my opinion.
This place is amazing, everyone is super friendly and try to help everyone out to the best of their ability. Truck was clean and everything was perfect!!!!
If i could give this place a zero star I would. A very bad experience. My best friend and I reserved a truck online using the 24/7 service they have. We talk to representatives and was told to check box 1 for the key. As we checked it, there was no key. From then, we were passed around. From Ian, to linda, to vivian to amy. No one was able to help us. I called the 1-833 number, as amy said to get my refund instead, but I have been waiting till someone “real” to pick up. This is very inconvenient for us for a service they over that suppose to be convenient. Not cool. Now we are going back to san jose with no truck that we highly needed. Very annoying service.
The service here is awesome. The cashiers and service ladies are amazing. They are extremely helpful and care about their customers. They were very straightforward and honest about pricing. I went in for a cargo van. The person who rented it before me hadnt returned it yet. So. I was given a discounted rate on a moving truck. Thanks again. They truly saved they day in this case.

Excellent service and selection. Vehicles are in good shape and they keep them pretty clean considering how much use they get. Have been renting from them 10-15 times a year for about three years now and we couldnt have built our vintage wedding rental business without them!
Todays employees were fast efficient and on time to open. Not like other days I have rented a truck. Your staff is getting better...keep it up.
Soooo slow. The few times this place has been my only local option for a rental I end up spending at least 30 minutes per person to move forward in line and thats with 2 employees working at the counter!I do the reservation method and it does absolutely nothing to decrease my wait time.
Before renting anything from U-Haul, do a Google search of “U-Haul sucks”. There you’ll find stories of how U-Haul treats its customers. The day before my reservation, U-Haul moved my pickup location from Oakdale to Modesto—30 miles away. When I called to complain, the representative cancelled my reservation and hung up on me. I finally spoke to a manager who filed a complaint. I was sent an e-mail with an apology and a $50 credit. I never received the $50 credit. By far, the worst service I have ever experienced. I will never do business with U-Haul, again.
Rented a truck and trailer from this place. When I called before I came to pick them up, they said I would have to take the truck and travel to Stockton, 15 miles away to get the trailer, using my free 100 miles to do that. I told them no, I rented from Manteca, Im picking-up all of my equipment from Manteca. They offered a larger trailer for the same price, (I didnt need a larger trailer), but I accepted it.Two hours later when I arrive at the business, the truck is over-heating because it is low on motor oil and transmission fluid, which they are not allowed to add at this location, and they cannot rent it to me. What a joke of a business. If you want poor service and no communication, this is your place. If you want real service and professional people, find another place to rent equipment from There is absolutely no customer service here at 1190 South Main Street in Manteca, CA. If I could give them less than one star, I would.
Helpful staff and ok selection
I have rented from this U-Haul several times last year. The last two times that I rented from them they overcharged me on my bill. When I went to them to ask them to explain the charges, they quoted me a higher price when I return the truck. I explain to them that I was quoted a cheaper price before I rented the truck, but they had an excuse as to why they raised the price. I kind of blew it off and decided to give them a second chance thinking that maybe I had misunderstood them the first time. However, when they did the same thing this last time I decided that this was the last time that I was going to be doing business with this U-Haul facility. Very poor customer service, and I was dealing with the owner. So disappointed and frustrated.
Horrible service. I called was left on hold. I drove over there still on hold and the manager is just sitting there texting on her phone when I get there . Then shes trying to tell me how busy she is today. When theres no one even there.

They offer very slow service and were unprofessional as well as incompetent. Alejandro, the owner, didnt have an adapter for the trailer lighting. He told me to go to the OReilly autoparts to get one (the wrong one). A lighting fuse on my car ended up being the reason I couldnt safely take the trailer, understandable and not their fault. TRENT Murphy was professional and helped all he could (great guy) but Alejandro and everyone else seemed so unprofessional and they are definitely understaffed. Be prepared to wait a while.
I had an issue with the light panel the guy fixed it right away and made me feel much better I was a wreck when I went in.
We were coming from San Francisco and in Manteca Ca the transmission broke down, and I arrived U-haul from Manteca to rent a trailer for my car. It took 10 minutes before they closed and the girls in charge told me very rudely that they had already closed. And they didnt even let me ask a single question. Very bad service, and even more worrisome than when we are in an emergency we cannot have their service.

If I could give ZERO stars I would. I rented a box from them in September. My box was stolen. I subsequently went through utter HELL. They ended up charging me for a stolen box that I was never even able to use and that I had purchased insurance for. I even made a police report and went through the uhaul insurance claim process which at the end of the conversation they said wait, you had an empty box that was stolen? You dont need a claim, you have insurance, they should just refund you the money. Hours spent on the phone with customer service. Never able to actually speak to anyone at the location. I was told repeatedly by customer service that the only way to get the charges reversed was to talk to the location directly. And also that they had left messages with the manager to reverse my charges and that someone would give me a call back. So one day I decided to go in, to my surprise there WAS NO ONE WAITING. They point blank have no care to pick up their phone. HORRIBLE. I finally had to file a claim to get my money back. Customer service is absolutely horrible. I had my box stolen and I was directed to every freaking person in the Uhaul system because no one knew what was going on, how to track anything. they messed up my order and I had to physically go in to another location to make changes. I was on the phone for 24 hrs. My moving was absolutely a horrific experience and I ended up being delayed in my moved from CA to NC by two days. And guess what. Today after I have already gone through hell. I was charged YET AGAIN by the same location. And guess what? I called the location and no one picked up the phone-again directed to customer service. This is not the store if you want a long distance move. This store has awful customer service and made the already incredible awful stress of moving 100x worse. AVOID AVOID AVOID. Im about to spend another 15 hrs on the phone. Thank you U haul of Manteca. This is my last time moving with Uhaul. It may be cheaper but at the end you get what you pay for-shoddy customer service, poor knowledge, and the run around.

Uhaul downgraded me last minute from a 26 truck to a 20 truck for a 400 mile one way trip, i was not happy about it. I did not receive a discount or any help. Once i dropped the truck off in manteca the general manager was very helpful and turned my whole experience around. Thank you so much. I will be coming back to this uhaul when I need a truck.
