This place is the most professional in Mankato. What I appreciate most is that a few days after you get your car from them, they will follow up (via text) to ask how everything is going with it. I’ve been to several mechanics and none has asked me that. Also, each worker is respectful on the phone. When I wasn’t sure what a certain parts name was, they patiently helped me look for the correct word. I fully recommend GCA.

We have a student at MSU who needed major service on his car. With us being 5+ hours away, we wanted someplace we could feel confident was not taking advantage of the circumstances. Thank you so much for your A+ service. Digital inspection gave us details with pictures and explanations. After we were able to review, personal phone call to talk though findings and recommendation. It was great knowing exactly what the diagnosis and plan was!

Had the Service engine light on with a P0500 code saying vehicle speed sensor was bad. Tried to fix it for my daughter, a MSU student, but couldnt get at the sensor. Bad place on a 2017 Altima. Registered online for a repair here and left the keys with a note in the drop box on Sunday August 29. Monday they called me and said they had a full schedule for the week but would try to squeeze it in. Got a notice Monday afternoon with a diagnosis of chewed wires to the sensor. Authorized the repair, and the car was ready for pickup by Tuesday afternoon. Cant thank them enough for getting my daughter her wheels back in short order. They have followed up to make sure all is well since. Happy Dad here.

My boyfriend told me what my car needed and I called several mechanics in Mankato to try and get some quotes for the repairs. Some shops gave me general quotes and some mentioned that prices may change based on what else may need to be done based on inspection and recommendations. When I called your business this week the man on the phone said he would need to have the vehicle looked at to give an accurate estimate. I understand that extra things might be found but all I wanted was a basic quote on repairs I needed done and was specific what I needed with all the details about my car. I could not even get an estimate.....something I would not hold you to, but rather just wanted a rough idea of what you would charge. I did not use your business but was frustrated that I could not even get a basic quote or estimate on specific service I described. Maybe it is your policy to see a vehicle first, but not helpful to those who know what they need done and want to comparison shop!

Had to get two head cylinders fixed on my 1999 Pontiac firebird, took a while to get fixed with good reason due to the circumstances, after repaired runs like a dream and am back to whipping donuts in it like I use to do, will definitely be back there if future car repairs are needed when I am in the area.

I can’t say enough good things about Greg’s! The communication is spectacular- they diagnose your vehicle and send a detailed email including photos of potential problems associated with your vehicle. Then, when giving an estimate of what the costs are for what you choose to fix (with no pressure), that ends up being the amount you actually pay! Love their shuttle service as well, which makes the inconvenient task of getting your vehicle repaired that much more convenient! A+++!

These guys are great! Just to sample what kind of service I might get from them, I took my 2005 Toyota Highlander in for a minor repair. I was unexpectedly surprised at how friendly and courteous all staff members were and I was able to use a coupon! Through a text message and a link to a web portal from them, I was able to view pictures taken of various parts or mechanical items that needed repair and understand what sort of maintenance recommendations they would make to keep my good old Highlander in optimal running order. I’ve got a little over 110K miles on my Highlander and I had kind of neglected it, so I brought it back to Greg’s Champion Auto and I was able to use a coupon again. I’m sure I got a better deal than I would have if I had brought it anywhere else. Thanks, Greg and staff! If I ever need any other work done on it, I’ll be back.

Great service! The staff were wonderful to talk to, I had multiple issues that made the problem difficult to diagnose. Their mechanics did a great job finding and solving the issue with my brakes and were able to explain everything they had to do. They also offered me a loaner vehicle while they had mine at no cost. Very happy customer and will definitely continue taking my vehicles here.

I had my vehicle towed to Gregs as it wouldnt start. They immediately found it to be the fault of a bad fuel pump. Upon digging further into that I got the phone call no one wants; they called to okay further service as my fuel lines also ended up being damaged. This ended up almost doubling my repair cost, they offered to buy the parts online for a few hundred dollar discount and I told them to go ahead with that. Im thankful they are willing to go out of their way to save the customer some money, especially me being a college student.A day after I brought it in, all of the work was completed and I got a phone call saying it was ready for pickup. They had actually saved me $600 off of my original cost as they were able to get a tool to splice in parts of the fuel lines rather than replacing the entire thing. I greatly appreciate a shop that wants to save their customers money and will get you in and out quickly and as cheap as possible. You can tell Greg and his team really care about what they do and I would highly recommend his shop to everyone!

I took my 2001 Volvo V70XC into Greg’s shop in January after it stopped running completely. Transmission blew. Greg and his guys tried everything to make her run again. After putting in 3 new transmissions, going above and beyond to inform about my specific car (it’s a rare one!) at a number of different places, they unfortunately had to tell me they had to give up on her, something he didn’t ever do in the years of owning the shop. In the meanwhile, I was able to use their loaner car for FREE! For 3 weeks as they were waiting for transmissions to be shipped. As Greg stands behind his work, we negotiated a deal fair for me. Greg even managed to find someone to sell my car to as by this point, fixing it would probably take me out 3000+, whereas the car value is no more than 2200... Greg has been of great help and when I bought my new car, this was the place I went to to make sure the car’s condition was good. Wouldn’t take it anywhere else in town!!

They fixed radiator but didnt fill antifreeze other than that they did a good job

Have always done my own maintenance but recently moved here and have no access to a shop/tools. GCA was recommended to me by the guys at a local place where I get my oil changed. Had brakes and calipers done. It was done quickly. They didn’t sell me anything but did a full inspection and let me know when I should plan certain maintenance. They worked with my hectic schedule and gave me rides and were always on time. Everyone there is personable and down to earth. Will recommend them to anyone needing work done.Addendum: I should add that there were no extra fees and the cost was 50$ less than the original quote so there was no hassle.

While waiting outside your shop to get a ride from friends after dropping off a vehicle I witnessed how your workers drive cars they are meant to repair. I understand that you need to drive a vehicle and start at times to get a feel for a problem or listen to sounds. However, never should one quickly accelerate from a stopped position and speed down the side of your building in a crowded area of vehicles and people and hit the brakes hard. I then watched your driver honk the horn multiple times for the people inside to open your shop door and once open entered at a very high speed. Watching this I wonder how careful you are while working on a vehicle. Guess you can do what you want behind closed doors but in the open this looks bad for your business even if a customer isnt watching!

Greg’s champion auto is a great place for auto repair for a number of reasons. The staff is great being knowledgeable, kind and helpful. They inform you of what needs to be done to your car including pictures of the problems. The repair work is done efficiently and is good quality. Their costs are reasonable and they offer you payment help through applying for a payment plan and Greg sends out through the mail discount coupons periodically. My truck broke down on my daughter when she was down in Mankato moving into college; it was dead on its 3 wheels. Had it towed there and they gave it a thorough once over even though it was 14 years old, and presented an extremely comprehensive report. They fixed what I agreed to, and did some extras to boot. A Class A company that I only wish was located closer to my home. Great job Nick!

Nick took great care of me with my son in Mankato, 100 miles away from me, at college. Had the car towed there. They provide a detailed analysis (for a fee) and provide pictures of fluids before and after. Not the cheapest, but I felt they were very high quality, great service and follow-up. I would return.

I wanted to get diagnostics done on my 06 ford focus and would recommend them to do diagnostic checks on any of my vehicles for the future.

Paid a diagnosis fee and was told the part needed would be available in 3 days and they would call. They never did and after a month I called back but no one could tell me what happened other than the call being forgotten to be made. Lost money and they didnt even work on my car.

This review is two part as I was with a friend who had their car worked on at your place and seemed to go well but a little high priced according to her husband. For that reason I can not review your service but can review what I experienced at your facility while outside waiting for our ride. While standing outside some of your employees on the side of the building were talking quite loud and joking about some very inappropriate things! I understand that men will be men and maybe in a shop it is fine to joke and speak a certain way, but when I am with my young daughters and the workers in a very public place are loud and speaking of things inappropriate I certainly did not appreciate it at all! This does not reflect on the quality of the service you provide as I have no personal experience with that but I have no plans to ever come to your establishment again and would never bring my kids around your place again as it was not just a word or two but ongoing inappropriate language and again, outside in a very public place!

This review is mixed as previously Ive only had good experiences with Gregs Champion Auto and theyve been my sole mechanic for years now and Ive never had a bad experience until now.My cars battery died as I was driving it to work on Monday so I had it towed to Gregs and they got back to me on Tuesday to tell me it was only the battery and not the alternator. They also did a good job with replacing the fuel filter and a PCV hose which fixed a separate issue with the engine running poorly. Fast response time and the car got me home, what I expect from Gregs, reasonable price and a quick turn around.Then when I went to work the next morning my cars battery again died as I was driving. I called and they had it towed for free to their shop.So after shelling out $350 for a battery, pcv hose and fuel filter replacement I now have to pay nearly $500 to replace an alternator which was the root cause of the problem.I dont have the time or money to keep having my car constantly in and out of the shop so I rely on it getting fixed right the first time.Dont know if Im just unlucky or if their standards have fallen significantly.

First trip to Gregs Champion Auto today. They normally do appointments, I was a walk in on my way to my normal oil change place.They were able to fit me in on short notice. Was waiting for my wife to get done at the doctor, they were quick and also offer rides if needed. Staff was very professional, and waiting area was clean and well stocked with beverages of all kinds. Had my laptop and used WiFi, fast and solid connection.They looked at and fixed two items I mentioned as part of the oil change with no added labor charges. The inspection report they provide is very complete, and includes pictures of parts and areas of concern.Moved to Mankato a few years ago, get the mailings from Gregs Champion Auto all the time, glad I gave them a shot!

My regular mechanic was unavailable so I went to GCA for a noise from muffler area. They did a comprehensive report. On the report, along with the muffler issue, they stated that a few other things needed immediate attention. One of them was transmission fluid should be flushed as well as the brake fluid. Odd thing about this is, I just had those done in March 2019 & I had only driven 6000 miles since then. I questioned the mechanic who did the work in March (we have done business with him for a few years) & he was very clear that 6000 miles would not warrant transmission fluid & brake fluid to need immediate attention. GCA did fix the muffler bracket (thank you) but I am very concerned that the report they provided was not completely accurate.

The service took a little longer than the quoted time due to very rusty bolts, but overall Im satisfied with the service preformed.

My son is a student at the university but we do not live in the Mankato area. He called home letting me know he had car trouble, so I reached out to a friend in the area for a recommendation, and she said Greg’s Champion Auto. From my initial call to schedule an appointment, to the constant communication through the inspection and repair process, and the shuttle service that picked him up on campus when the car was ready, such a wonderful experience all around!! I was originally refereed by a few friends to Gregs Champion Auto and I wasnt sure about them, they seemed like any other mechanic shop. However once I got in there I noticed the staff was very knowledgeable and answered whatever questions I had as well as put my worries to ease. I think I first went there to have my Flex Plate for my exhaust I had Gregs replaced on my Toyota Camry. It was a common problem for Toyotas and Gregs Champion Auto took care of it with ease and got my car back the same day if I remember right. Thats amazing service. Then something happened I wasnt expecting. I got a message from Greg himself appreciating my business and describing what had been done to my car and if everything was alright and to my satisfaction. I have to say, Ive taken my car to many mechanics, and Ive never gotten the owner to contact me back before. I contacted my friends and they said the same thing, Greg will contact you personally to make sure everything is alright.
