I personally enjoy going to Genesis. They have a bunch of different equipment, even at their busiest times there is always something you can do. They have a lot of other things besides working out, like the therapy guns, or the pool. Even have a basketball court, which is my favorite. Everyone is super nice and friendly. I feel like all the workers want to see you reach your goals, no matter where you are at in your fitness journey. An to make everything 100 times better. My personal trainer, Kayci, is the absolute best. She makes working out so much fun! She knows when to push me and when to let me go easy. She has helped me so much. Plus she is a great listener when I need to vent. 10/10 would recommend!

I truly enjoy going to a space that isn’t full of college students. I feel comfortable and safe using the equipment with no worry that anyone is judging me. I have used their personal training team and truly credit him for my increase in strength, stability, and general overall health.

The facility is super nice, clean, latest equipment, huge pool, protein/smoothie bar, and well maintained. Employees are friendly as well. It can get pretty busy. The dry sauna is my top favorite. They do have an elevator but I always take the stairs 😊 Ive enjoyed my time here.

Love the Water Aerobics classes! After only a few sessions Im feeling stronger and feeling more fit. Instructor Barb is knowledgeable, experienced, and lots of fun to workout with. All the staff have been friendly and helpful.

I loved my experience at Genesis Manhattan. They were helpful & honest with the contract, professional in the space, and the new facility is a dream. I was so sad when I moved & had to end my contract, but they made it so easy. If I ever move back to Manhattan, signing back up for Genesis will be the first thing I do!

The new building is amazing! You have just about anything you need here and the staff is so kind! They’re always willing to help out AND with a smile on their face. Definitely recommend this place to workout at!

Let’s talk about this pool!! There are swim lessons year round for both adults and littles!The pool clean for the amount of swimmers that are in there and ‘regulars’ are friendly to the new comers! There are several water classes that you can take like aqua Zumba and aqua fitness!! You walk in, you have fun and you are not judged when having a good time!!The lap lanes are busy in the early mornings but during the day and later evening it’s very easy to get one!

Gorgeous gym!! I was looking to upgrade from Planet Fitness to somewhere that had more weights/more space. They have a really diverse amount of weights/cardio machines, basketball courts, swimming pools, the whole nine yards. Ryan helped walk me through the pricing and even added a 7 day pass for my boyfriend who I was bringing as a guest. He was super nice and helpful! 10/10 would recommend

Clean, huge, diverse set of equipment and rooms, excellent staff, and great hours. Never feels full, plenty of space. Love this place and I recommend it to everyone. Got my kid in swim lessons, too. Shout out to Ashley! Also, the fees are not bad at all. No surprises there. Its a great deal considering how much they have to offer.

Dan is my massage therapist and he always takes good care of me! I feel very comfortable in his presence!I also see Kayci for personal training. She works me as hard as I want, is encouraging and makes the workouts specific for me and the results I want.

I was training with Derek for a month before the pandemic, and started back up with him after the open house of the new gym. He is energetic, funny, and knowledgeable. I was nervous when I first started, but he makes the sessions fun and makes me really notice my progress. I really appreciate the recommendations that he gives me for the time between out sessions.The club offers a lot of different equipment and lots of room. Im very impressed with my experience at Genesis.

Great place to workout and get guidance on setting realistic goal with support of the staff. I love the class they offer and the 24 hours open schedule which help me to get in and out in no time. Started going to genesis back in May lost about 27 lbs with a personal trainer. This place is well maintain with great AC. The staff are very friendly especially the front desk. Great place to change your lifestyle to a healthier one

I love Genesis, the club has many options for equipment, CrossFit section, basketball and the pool. Stuff is very professional, polite and friendly. The sign up process is easy and they DO NOT pressure you into anything. Great classes and pleasant class instructors. It does get busy after 5 pm otherwise its not crowded.

Due to poor communication and a lack of accountability, i was charged for an extra month i believed was cancelled. when i did make them aware that that faculty member did not know how to cancel properly, it was still my fault, and now i dont know if ill see my money.it has now been a week and it still has not been resolved.They decided it was my fault because I had signed the contract. Fine. But gee, would have been nice if they had accepted at least a little bit of responsibility for the miscommunication and my loss of money I needed.

Very friendly staff! Always saying hello and goodbye. Very friendly to my kiddos as well and will wave to them. Daycare staff is super friendly and kids love going!

I love participating in the classes! Instructors are very knowledgeable and accommodating for various skill levels, as well as personable to help me feel welcome! The workouts are challenging but fun. Offering childcare is also a lifesaver!

Greatest gym I have been to hands down.

DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT HERE. After the year they will continue to charge you and will NOT reimburse you. My son got out of the army in February and the manager says she wont refund him. Its a pathetic shame they would do this intentionally to service men and women.

I have various injuries and the instructors give alternative options to workout so I don’t feel left out during various types of classes; such as Group Power, Yoga, Group Blast, Intensity, Zumba, and Group Active. The gym offers various types of classes at various times. I’ve taken just about every class because I wanted to know what type of workout worked for me. If I had any questions..the instructor would answer them.

Gosh it’s hard to pinpoint just one thing but let’s just start out with the staff. Everybody on the staff is awesome. (Dog, did I just say that- I never use the word awesome). So not naming names: Ryan, Anthony, Dan ( the man with the Midas “touch”), Alysa and Sebastian (those two always have my morning “Joe” ready when I tread in at 5AM (whoops I forgot Marshal, also), And last but not least we’ve got Derek that gingerly gets me thru my morning resistance training cause old folks like me needs lots of help (somebody seen my walking stick?) and Josh who caters to my jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and aqua therapy needs. This club is a valuable addition to this community. This state of the art facility offers something for everyone in terms of being a great place for a person to workout, to group fitness classes, swim classes in Manhattans only indoor pool facility and just about any other type of fitness activity you can think of all at a very affordable price. Staff is responsive to your needs and wants to make sure you have a safe, clean place to workout and an overall great experience. I would highly recommend.

Its worth 4 Stars because the Tennis is not free and The Basketball court and Track are small,but it is 24/7ish there is a Kids club that has a Big room for activities and they have a pool now. Plus we love that the management works with you and are super kind. If the Tennis courts were free and or switched with the Basketball court it would be a 5 star without doubt or if the tennis courts were cheaper and or were included in your monthly fees it would totally be 5 stars. We will continue to go here for sure without a doubt. Thank you for opening this new location though. We do love goin here.

Great club. Lap pool is the best in a 60 mile radius. Good temperature (80) and upkeep. Hopefully, the water aerobic types dont henpeck the front staff and management into increasing temperature, turning it into a giant jacuzzi like every other pool I have frequented.

Love the gym and if youre looking for someone to help Ryan is incredible. The kids club is lovely. I know my girls are always well taken care of. But most of the front desk isnt aware of whats going on. Its incredibly frustrating to call to confirm if an event is happening, being told yes, driving out there and sitting around for 15 minutes to be told it was cancelled. Please update your front desk staff on whats going on so that they can actually answer questions and not waste peoples time and gas money.

The club manager and assistant manager have both been active in addressing concerns and taking initiative to make me feel heard and improve the quality of customer service and the facility itself. Thank you for being awesome it’s truly appreciated don’t stop keep moving forward. 👍🏽I love this gym however I wish that literally anyone would clean. I feel like people who use this gym just throw the equipment on the ground in odd places and leave and the staff essentially does nothing but walk by and look at it. My goals are to improve on myself, not to gain an unpaid internship as a janitor but I hear the Planet Fitness in JC is always tidy and clean.Edit: Nothing has changed if anything I’m working harder to keep this place clean. I still have not received my first paycheck either, but I’m sure as heck am paying way too much money every month.

Be weary of the hidden fees!!!! Read all reviews tagged as contracts.If you’ve had issues with their contracts/membership fees/enhancement fees/cancellation fees/charges after you’ve cancelled please write a review on Google and then report them and leave a review at BBB!I had canceled my membership and was charged an “enhancement fee” the same day I cancelled. The fee is to prevent my membership fee from increasing within my one year contract. According to the individual I spoke to, since my account was active for another 30 days it was within the gym’s right because I had acknowledged the charge the day I signed up. Very shady business practice. A charge to prevent an increase in membership fee, yet the business charges a fee to do it, which increases your membership in the end.

Great place, everything’s pretty clean and there’s lots of equipment. Brand new building, it’s pretty huge. Machines are usually all 100%, nothings usually broken. It does get pretty busy but it’s also the biggest gym in Manhattan. I’m definitely going to keep coming here.

I love going here! It’s so convenient because they offer childcare! It’s amazing and they offer so many things for their members!

I enjoy the large variety of group classes, the room to spread out, & appreciate that they are not over crowded for our comfort and safety.

The new gym is great and furnished to the nines. It can get busy in the evenings but there are plenty of machines and I’ve never had a problem finding something to do.

I love working out with my trainer Kayci. She has helped me improve a lot.

I love this place. The only thing anyone would agree with is to add a click to the dry sauna and add the weights on the dumbbell rack so people know where to put them!

I love the exercise machine options. I have plantar fasciitis and there are plenty of options that accommodate my condition. I also joined for the swimming pool, the only indoor Olympic size pool in town.

I’ve only used the tennis courts since the genesis opened in Manhattan, but I think they’re great. Manhattan hasn’t had good courts in a long time, so the addition was a good choice. I only wish there were more courts!

Its clean, well ventilated, and not ever super crowded. You can usually get the machine you want to use, play tennis, swim laps, and play basketball most anytime.

It is a hassle to cancel! I had to pay a fee to cancel and 2 weeks later they charged me again! I called to resolve the issue and all I got was a sorry. We cant do anything about it

I just love Kelly. She is so observant of the class members and if someone needs to set down she immediately sets down also. It makes that person feel better about having to set down. I find the sit and fit class to be very helpful for my balance, neck and shoulders. The stretches are wonderful. Anyone with balance problems or feeling kind of blah. You should definitely go to this gym. Everyone is so nice and kind and the equipment is really nice. There’s all levels of people at the gym so don’t worry about what you look like, everyone is into their workout and really don’t care what your doing. If you’re putting off your workout just come and try it. You’ll feel much better afterwards.

Buyer beware!!! They are out for the money that’s it. They did my little sister wrong. They garnished here wages. She is a college student during covid!!! They took every last dime she had and some out of another account she was just on for emergencies. And will not give it back. They will get anyone they don’t care you are dollars to them that’s it.Y’all are that hard up for money??? That you get college students during the worst pandemic we have lived through??? You could have made arrangements with her instead of taking every last dime and going into another that wasn’t hers!!!

Staff and trainers are excellent. This gym is literally for everyone at every level of fitness. Also their hours are the most convenient in town. My only opportunity to go work out is 4 to 6 am. If it wasnt for Genesis I couldnt do it because every other gym only seems to have daytime hours when normal people are at work.

Good variety of weights and machines, sauna under repair 1/2/19

Clean, all equipment are servicable, and they usually fix within few days if any machines are broken. Front desk people are mostly welcoming and smiling which is already a start of a good workout even before you start working out.

Tried to sign up for a one day pass, however they ended up charging me for a $15 pass because they did not allow a free pass until the grand opening, even though the website said otherwise. Sanitizing stations across the gym only had spray bottles. Was not aware you were suppose to grab a towel from the front desk because the employees did not mention nor enforced it.

Asked the gym person to cancel my gym membership on Jan 13th.She said that it will be cancelled in a month as they require a 30-day notice as per agreement. Got charged for March and April. Emailed them last month as I was out of station. No reply.

I found a good variety of equipment that was well maintained and clean. Almost always able to find a machine I need.

There is always a smiling, friendly face that says hello/goodbye when I enter/leave for the day! The environment is very comfortable, with great music and promotes great health supplements. My personal trainer, Kayci, is AMAZING. She focuses on tailoring perfect exercise routines, and pushes me to do my best. I would definitely recommend getting her as a trainer! You will not be disappointed.

Very clean, spacious, a variety of equipment as well as amenities and other services. I appreciate the opportunity to attend a host of different exercise classes. Theres something for everyone. Im also impressed that they have child care services available. Staff is quite supportive and courteous. The hours of operation are flexible and long.

Genesis Health Clubs is a complete 180 from Max Fitness. The price my wife and I paid for a Max Fitness membership was less than Genesis fee, and yet Max had 24-hour access, all up-to-date and CLEAN equipment, and local, professional, friendly staff. Genesis costs more and has none of these. Recently my wife and I moved away, so before we left I went in to cancel our memberships. Thinking there might be a cancellation fee (I wouldnt know since we never got a new membership policy when the company switched over), I brought in my PCS orders thinking they might exclude me from the fee. The kid that helped me make the cancellation ensured me that there were no fees and there would be no other payment required for me or my wifes accounts. My wife just received a phone call yesterday saying we owe an additional months payment because we didnt give them a 30 day notice that we were cancelling our membership. A 30 DAY NOTICE? You are a GYM not a landlord. I will do my best to make sure everyone I know still living in Manhattan or moving there does not join your club or is at least aware of what they are getting into. We definitely appreciated the great service, friendly professional staff, and the supportive small business that MAX FITNESS was during our 3 years in Manhattan. Thanks to Genesis Health Clubs for ruining a great thing.
