I cant give a complete review because I had no work done in the end. I went into Tip Top with two pairs of shoes and the hope they could be repaired.I was met by an extremely helpful and courteous lady named Lisa who turned out to be the former owners daughter.She explained in great detail why one pair of shoes could not be repaired at all. And she explained in great detail why the second pair could be attempted but it wouldnt be, in her opinion, an ultimately successful fix due to the nature of the damage. She could have very well taken my money and attempted both repairs which is what I expected. Instead, she was very forthcoming and honest and let me know that I shouldnt waste my money for what could end up being a repair that wouldnt last.I will return in the future with any shoe repairs. I feel good supporting a local business that has been around as long as I can remember and continues the tradition by keeping the business in the family.
The man in the back does good work but dont trust the lady in the front to relay your instructions correctly. I have brought shoes there 3 times. While the craftsmanship is excellent the beast at the counter will not write down your instructions and the finish product ends up wrong. She only takes cash and will raise hell if you point out the error or try to get the work done right. Last time I went her quote was more than the cost of the shoes. If you cant talk to the craftsman dont leave your shoes here.
I got a pair of Portuguese boots from goodwill that fit nice but had seen better days. Tip Top breathed at least another decade of life into those bad boys. They do good work.
I had two shoes to be fixed. The lady I saw was perhaps tired and short with her words but pleasant enough. She was quick to tell me that she could do little for one shoe, I wasnt surprised. I did her suggested fix myself. I left the other shoe to be glued as needed. It was inexpensive but took several days. I didnt mind as the shoe was worthless in the condition I brought it. Seems to be fixed as expected.
Great place, my family and I have been using them for decades. Regardless of brand/price point the result is always excellent.
Perfect! Great service..My shoes were too high in the heel. I needed a flat shoe. Got a call to come in as and try it on to see if adjusting had to be done. It did not!How cool is that for service!?👍😊👍

I am going to break my review down into 2 categories.Customer Service Review: If this review was only for customer service the store would have only received 1 star. The store itself is as expected. Pretty dirty and smells like boots, but that did not matter to me. When I first walked in the lady wrote down what I needed done, quoted me and I paid. Everything went smoothly besides the credit card machine being down. Its 2015 people, get that fixed! There is even an app out there for this now!When I went back to pick up my boots is when the customer service went down the drain. I walked in and did not get helped until about 1 minute later because the lady was busy chatting it up with someone---no big deal.. Well, then she asked for my name which I repeated twice, grabbed her phone while I was repeating my name the 2nd time and started scrolling through text messages(still talking to the other lady). She then I guess finds what she is looking for, walks away from me and shows the lady the text and chats it up again with her for another minute or so. THEN finally she comes back, has me repeat my name AGAIN and goes to look for my boots. The lady returns with my boots and without a word puts them on the counter and walks away to talk to the other lady again. I was confused at this point with what to do so I just walked out. HORRIBLE customer service.Boot Repair Review: I had my $400 leather boots repaired. They look very good and he even replaced both heals. I am very happy with this aspect and probably would return to the store ONLY for this reason.I have worked in retail and customer service for years. If you want your business to strive the customer is ALWAYS right and ALWAYS your number one priority. Even when you are having a bad day or are busy speaking with a friend. The customer is the only reason your business is still alive.
Ok, its a small business I know Im gonna pay a little more but not for shoddy work. Multiple issues with my boots being resoled, one pair the sole started peeling back not even a week having them and I had to glue them together myself. Shoe goo works wonders, i used it on a pair of snowboard boots when I caught a blowout one season. Apparently they dont look at what they are repairing and do the bare minimum, even though you pay upfront mind you for mediocre work. Just a word of advice find somewhere else to go, take the drive somewhere and give a better business your money.
The work is exceptional. So glad there is still a place to get your shoes and other leather goods repaired. They are honest about what can and is worth the repair cost. I appreciate their honesty.
Just moved here. I have had my boots re-soled twice before elsewhere. Tip Top did the best job I have seen.
Good shoe repair but poor customer service. Other reviewers that say the lady at the front is rude, arrogant, unattentive, etc.... are right. So leave your feelings at the doorstep. They did a very fine shoe repair and thats the reason to go there.
Been using Tip Top for over 20 years. They have been extremely fair and honest, always doing great work, for a fair price, in a timely manner. All I can think is that the earlier person with the bad review just doesnt like the truth. Sounds like that person had a cheap Faux Leather product and it was going to take the expertise of the staff at Tip Top to bring them back to life. The only problem was to get that expertise it was going to cost three times the cost of the shoes.I have always been extremely satisfied with the staff and product at Tip Top, and wouldnt change my mind.Dont hesitate to use their service for all repairs.Thanks!
Did me right!
I used to get all my boots and shoes re-soled and the work was incredible. Theyd put non skid soles and new heels at a reasonable cost. My son dropped off an expensive pair of my boots to them yesterday and they insisted on all cash up front. I got my boots back today and its horrible! Cheap, shoddy work, and glue on the leather!!! Now I have to pay at another place to repair the repair! Im not sure if this place has changed hands but Ill definitely never be back. The store is filthy and the people are rude.

Worst customer service ever! Outrageously expensive and work looks like it was done by a child. Obviously not interested in return business. Did not even say thank you for my business. First and last time. Regret that I did not turn around and walk out the door when I first entered.
Arrogant, want to argue with customers after getting paid in advance. Not customer friendly. No I wont go back....be warned...if you question their work you will be laughed at.

A rip off- I needed four pairs of boots resoled, TIPTOP told me ONE pair would cost $150, I went to another shoe repair shop in Slidell and they resoled all FOUR pairs for LESS than $150 and they did an incredible job.
