Bill and Michelle are awesome people and first class instructors. The academy is clean and large, with lots of options concerning BJJ, Judo and weight lifting. I travel often for work, so this is my third academy in five ish years of training. I train as I travel throughout the country, so Im familiar with what options are out there. This academy stands above most in quality of instruction and overall culture. They have something to offer the full spectrum of potential students or long term high level competitors. Ive been taking my kids (5,13,14) to Dominion BJJ for over a year now and its great. There are lots of kids and lots of girls in the kids programs as well, so youll definitely find a comfortable fit for you or your family here. Further, this particular school has the best culture, you arent just joining a BJJ school, but also a family. Youll be happy here. Its a challenging but positive environment where you and your kids will feel great about earning your promotions, not just getting promoted for attendance and paying the fee. They have one of the only womens only classes with strong attendance in the area as well, led by owner and black belt Michelle Welti. Highly recommend!

You get to learn from not just one but two very knowledgeable BJJ black belts. I don’t think I’ve had one question that Bill or Michelle haven’t been able to answer. The family aspect that comes with being a part of the gym has got me and many of my friends hooked.

Dominion BJJ has a great atmosphere for beginners. I started training Jiu Jitsu roughly 6 months ago. I didn’t know what to expect walking through the door. On day one I was challenged with exercise drills, positions and some sparing but, it was all well explained and demonstrated. Other students had the patience to provide extra assistance and commentary to ensure I was performing drills/positions correctly. It didn’t take long for me to jump into Muah Thai and Judo. Both classes are equally exciting and informative. If you looking for a good workout.... This is it. I’ve lost roughly 45lbs in a few months taking multiple classes a week.We also have lots of fun gatherings outside of training. It’s a fun family and recommend it to everyone.

So friendly and welcoming! I had pretty much zero fitness when I started, and an old back injury I had to watch out for. I could climb a couple flights of stairs or hike 3-4 miles but not much else. The instructors and students at Dominion BJJ met me where I was, and I never felt pressured or rushed to do more than I was able, or judged for being out of shape or less skilled. I also didn’t feel judged for being a bigger, plus-sized woman but instead was encouraged to use my size as an asset and not be afraid of it.Everybody was just happy I was there and wanted me to come back. Other reviews noting the same things are what made me finally decide to try a class and I’m so glad I did.I noticed fitness improvements after just a couple classes (1-2/week), and my core strength improved so much that I was able to hike twice as long as I could prior to starting BJJ. Improved core strength has also been awesome for my back!! I’ve found great community and new friends as well.

I have trained here for about three years now and I couldnt have asked for a better gym. The instructors here are so patient and supportive and we all feel like one family. You will most definitely grow as a martial artist and as a person at this gym. I highly recommend Dominion BJJ for anyone who wants to get in shape and learn self defense.

The BJJ instructors, Bill and Michelle, are fantastic coaches who explain every technique in incredible detail and help students of all capabilities learn BJJ. The environment that they’ve fostered is very welcoming, very family friendly, and has a strong sense of team. You’re gonna meet some amazing people! The facilities are second to none and a lot of pride and work has gone into making it what it is. Also, they are amazing with kids and have an excellent program for them.

Ive seen how the boxing coach devotes his time to his students. He is a very detail oriented and patient coach. He teaches proper techniques and always encourages his students to be better. He models how to throw punches, move around the ring and defend. He provides feedback and allows his students to execute it. He makes boxing fun at the same time. I have seen students transformation over period of months and its really impressive. Its best to see the students and coach in action so you can see it for yourself.

The level of instruction offered at Dominion BJJ is effective, and dynamic; the people are spirited and positive, and the head instructors are truly some of the most technical in the game. I highly recommend this place for both seasoned competitors and novice grapplers alike.

I have been going to Dominion BJJ for a year and could not recommend it more. It’s quite intimidating to start BJJ and go into a gym full of people you don’t know. The coaches, Bill and Michelle made me feel a part of the team from day one. The vibe – not only from the coaches, but from the other students is very much that of a team and community. A huge plus for me is that they are welcoming to my children as well. Not only do they offer kids classes, but they also offer before and after school care, and a kid’s room for when I’m training. I would highly recommend the team at Dominion BJJ.

This place is phenomenal! The school provides professional classes in a non-hostile enviroment. Everyone is friendly and ready to accept you as part of the group. Bill and Michelle take great care into making sure you are actually learning the moves correctly and are very understanding. The boxing coach is THE BEST around. I am 13 years old and have been working with Coach Pete for over a year. He is a great mentor and life coach for me, he truly cares about his students. Volunteering his time to teach kids how to box and prepare them for life in general.

Coach Pete, (boxing coach), is dedicated to the boxing program and each individual student. He concentrates on boxing fundamentals and proper technique. My 5 year old son enjoys his class and looks forward to going twice per week.

Great school to train at everyone is friendly and helpful. Everyone at this school is trying to make the other person better. I have leaned so much in just two months of training. I would definitely recommend this school. The coaching is top level Dave really knows how to look and see the little thing you need to do to make moves work. Im finding myself hitting sweeps I could never hit before great place to train.

One of the best schools around Northern Virginia for Brazilian Jiu jitsu. The trainers are world champions. They also have really great after school programs for kids martial arts. Highly recommended!

Nothing but great things to say about Dominion! My family and I have been here for a little over a year now and it is hands down the best. Both of my kids are in the kids Jiu-Jitsu class and they have a blast! Bill and Michelle are the greatest instructors anyone could ask for! My son also partakes in the kids Muay Thai program here and loves it! Coach Jose has a great way with the kids. Manassas MMA is a great place to learn Brazilian jiu-jitsu! Being a girl I was a little intimidated about going into a mixed class but everyone is so warm and welcoming. Instructors are patient and give advice to better your technique and are always willing to answer your questions. Very friendly and positive environment.

Making the decision to join something as physically intense as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu was intimidating for me. I have severe asthma and am limited on how far I can push my body because of it. I was worried I would feel like the odd girl out from day one and be the person no one wanted to partner with. That never happened here. Our school doesnt make new people feel like pariahs and the instructors have worked with me from the very first to ensure Im getting the most out of my training without putting my health at risk. The older students are warm and welcoming and eager to help everyone learn and do our best. I feel like my own skills have progressed rapidly under everyones guidance, and my endurance has grown in leaps and bounds. This is hands down the best place to come for training!

Great place for Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, Boxing and Judo for kids and adults. Dave Trader is a top notch Jiu-Jitsu instructor in the NOVA area and Arturo is also a great Muay Thai and Boxing instructor. Overall its a very friendly environment to train Martial Arts for both kids and adults.
