This place is amazing! A Malibu local experience for sure. Tony, the amazing owner, helped us get SUP (Stand Up Paddle Boards) and even though weve used SUPs in lakes we realized we needed some help. Definitely worth a little extra to bring Tony along and have him teach you all the tricks to feel confident in the ocean. My favorite part was learning about the kelp forests, I wouldve stayed clear but Tony showed us an amazing trick: Pile up the kelp over your board and then you can just relax out in the middle of the ocean. Next time Ill bring a picnic. Its fun, easy, and beautiful. The cost is worth it. Eventually we want to buy boards from Tony but for now we will rent a few more times. Also, his shop is an experience in itself - its like an inventors workshop. You can tell he is passionate about the ocean and all these ocean sports. Couldnt recommend this place more! Have fun.

Tony is a Radfish. Honestly he is like a zany mad scientist for water sports. Opt in for the lessons especially if you are beginners. Trust his process and you will not be disappointed. Me and my 2 friends were able to get up on our first waves and rode for hours. Tony was very thorough and very generous.

If you are looking for surf lessons - definitely visit Tony at Radfish! Not only are his surf lessons extremely affordable compared to other shops, but he genuinely cares about making sure you learn how to surf, no matter how long it takes. Tony probably spent 7 hours teaching my two friends and I how to surf and all of us were standing up and catching waves by ourselves by the end. You do have to be patient and learn the fundamentals with him in his shop before going out to the beach - so be prepared for about an hour per person in your group in the shop. We spent about 2-3 hours there before going out to the beach, but it made it much easier when youre in the water. Dont forget to bring snacks and water - youll definitely feel a bit dehydrated after being in the water for a while. Thanks for an awesome day, Tony!!

Had a BLAST at our surfing lesson with Tony! He was very generous with his time and took great care in teaching us the basics of surfing. He spent almost the entire day teaching us but only charged us for a 3 hour lesson. Tony went above and beyond and is hands down the best!

This is the best lesson of any kind I have ever had in my life. Tony was a great instructor; constantly focused on my technique and spent well over 4 hours with me both in the shop and on the water; taking videos and doing multiple demonstrations for me on the board. I have always wanted to surf, as Im from the East coast, so I was excited when I got to Malibu. I walked into Radfish at 9:40 on 12AUG and saw the owner sitting in a dark room on his laptop at the front desk, and he offered no information, was not friendly at all, and offered no worthwhile tips. I had to ask all the questions. He just sat in his chair and let it happen to him. Renting a board for the day is $50, with a $20 hourly rate. Other stores rent for $25 for 4 hours, which is nice if youre just passing through. The owner seemed disinterested and annoyed that I even walked in to interupt his time on the laptop. Bad morning? Maybe. Regardless, go to a different shop.

Tony is a great guy and his surf knowledge is top tier. If you are a beginner like myself this is the place to go. Above and beyond service and Tony makes you feel like a bro from the get go. I will come straight to Radfish for surfing supplies if I am ever in Malibu again.

If you are looking for surfing lesions, look no more! Come to Radfish and ask for Tony! We decided to get the first surfing lesson for our kids from Radfish after reading the Yelp reviews. Turned out Tony (owner and coach) is even better than we expected! He surely knows what he’s doing! Tony loves teaching and knows how to teach. He’s very friendly and patient to our children, very generous with his time too. We started the lesion at 3:30pm in his shop. The kids first learned the basics on a mat, then tried the skills just leaned on a simulation board. By the time they are ready to head to the water, it was 5:30 and getting dark. Tony offered an additional hour the next day during daytime, for safety and better learning. We came back in the morning at 10:30am, the kids warmed up again on the simulation board. They started surfing on the shore around 12 pm and finished the lesion at 1:30pm. Tony made sure both kids got enough muscle memory from practicing in the office so that once in the ocean, they both did great on their first day of surfing! Highly recommend Tony and Radfish.

I decided to go with Tony because of his AMAZING reviews and proximity to where we were staying at Calamigos Ranch in the Santa Monica Mountains. The best surfing lessons you can find! Tony wouldnt stop until we caught a wave and kept helping us and improving us. Although we were with a group of 7 he still managed to give us a good surfing lesson and managed to get us on the waves. Definitely recommended!

Tony is a legend! I wanted to learn to surf and he taught me properly from first principles, which allowed me to carry on practising in the correct style after the lesson. Teach a man to fish etc. The lesson length was very generous and Tony let me borrow the wetsuit and board for the rest of the day so I could practise. Radfish is proper stuff; no-nonsense; the real deal. Im visiting from the UK and just have a couple of days left before heading home - Im gonna hang out here and surf again tomorrow and the next day, I couldnt think of a better way to end my dreamy three weeks in California.

My first board rentals went awesome with Tonys help, its his shop and he runs it like a well-oiled machine. Absolutely top-notch service and top-notch equipment satisfaction guaranteed. I went to them to have my boards dings and dents and a glassed fin fixed. When I got the board back the epoxy was still gluey. After only 2 surf sessions, most of those repairs broke again, including the fin. They were not fixed properly.

I went into the Radfish surf shop to repair my board. Tony was super helpful and helped me get my board fixed super fast. He did a great job and texted me when it was complete. The board looks great and I will definitely bring in my other boards for ding repair.

Tony and Terry were amazing! The instructions and simulator before you get into the water really make it. No wasted time in the water. Will definitely be going back!

I enjoyed hanging out with Tony while I learned valuable technique and practiced all of the basics of surfing. Best surf teacher in Malibu. He is always thinking forward, improving his skills, and continually learning from progress of his students. He developed his own method of teaching so you can be sure you will stand up on the board even before you get into the ocean. He teaches students how to be safe and he spends above and beyond the time needed with you until until you are confident enough. You can rent paddleboards there as well and buy other board and swim related things. Tony is also a great dude and musician with a big heart.

He will give you quality instruction and is 100% supportive as he teaches you to pop or crawl-up, stand, and balance (first on the mat and then on his personally developed innovative board simulator), that you will undoubtedly have enough confidence even before you hit ocean. What made our experience that much more amazing was that Tony spent extra time with us on top of our 2 hour lesson. I know the experience we had with Tony would not have happened with any other surf instructor. If you know nothing about surf but would like to be able to ride a few waves in a couple hours, Tony is the right guy. His passion to teach is palpable and it does translate into amazing results. Rather than just reciting basic rules, he adapts the lesson to you, corrects your mistakes until you get the right technique to make sure you can enjoy the ride of a few waves when you hit the water.The four of us had never or barely touched a surfboard before and we were all able to surf by the end of the day. I came with a buddy and his kids,tony was so patiant and able to work with all of us teaching everything to know how to surf from surfing theory to actually standing up on the board in the water. We were a party of 6; 3 kids (ages 4, 6, & 10), & 3 adults. Tony didnt let us leave the shop till we all had the moves down packed. He is the real deal and very thorough in his teaching so that you can surf a life time after. Tonys a very nice guy and super safety conscious. Tony is a great guy. I travel to the LA area for work on a regular basis. Tony has rentals available and is open late, which allows for me to get a quick sunset sesh at 1st Point. CAll ahead as performance board availability may be limited, but at that, it is not to have a place that I can rent a performance SUP and not just a water logged flatwater board.

Tony is an excellent Malibu, California water sports teacher and incredible human being! He first taught me how to Paddle board. And, now he also helps me to be a stronger swimmer.I have seen him keep people safe while they are in the water. Moreover, Tony has a kind heart. He looks like Arnold Schwarzenegger and is like a throw back to John Wayne.... Today, I witnessed his kind, detailed, and gentle spirit. He helped an elderly man who was visiting from Marseilles, France who was looking for some water ear plugs. Tony stopped what he was doing, and intensely listened to what the gentleman was asking for. Tony apologized that he did not have any of those water ear plugs because during non-summer seasons, it is expensive to stock everything. But, Tony immediately told the elderly man that he could probably find ear plugs at the CVS down the road. Then, Tony went one step further and told the man that if he was adventurous, he could do what surfers do... they use surf board wax and they roll it up and use it to block water from entering into the ear canal. Tony then proceeded to cut a once inch piece off with his hunting/pocket knife and cleaned it off and put it into a bag for the gentleman to take with him to the beach. Tony advised him to leave it in the sun so the wax could soften up a bit and be more pliable so as to be able to fashion it into something that would be able to close up the ear canal. You could tell that Tony did this out of the kindness of his heart and concern for another human being. In this day and age, it is so re-freshing to see a kind and generous human being who cares about another human being. I recommend him for all water sports. He is very careful and concerned about water safety. I am a mom and a medical professional and am very concerned about safety, and Tony most definitely cares about this aspect as well. Tony is very professional and a gentleman...
