Great bodybuilding/powerlifting gym with an atmosphere to match. Patrons are enjoyable to lift with. The east location is unfortunately closing on June 15th :/
For half a decade, I watched this gym go from a little powerlifting gym to, dare I say, a sort of midwestern Iron Mecca. This is indubitably one of the best gyms Ive ever trained in. So much so its now the standard at which I judge other gyms and sadly, no other gym even comes close to measuring up. Everything about this place makes you want to be better and do better. The cornucopia of machinery targeting muscle groups I didnt know I had is equal parts impressive, overwhelming, and exciting.Tl;dr: Just join this amazing gym.
If you want to be the best at whatever youre pursuing, this is the place to do it. Only the best in Madison train at Madtown!
An awesome meathead gym. The best. Great music. Vast amount of machines and weights. Hardly any waiting to use equipment since there is so much. Its just an awesome gym. Owners are awesome.
Best gun ever
The people who lift there, the equipment, music, and of course chalk are what sets it a part as a gym. The West side has a significantly nicer environment. If you are new, just remember, most people are consumed with themselves. Dont worry about people judging you, because more often than not, they arent watching you! Lift with confidence :)
I have been to this gym a few times over the past year and it seems to be at an unfortunate decline. When I first went, maybe early summer 2017, it was pretty relaxed and it felt like a real power gym; no rules, chalk everywhere, garage doors open and it was fun to lift there, arguably one of the better gyms in the state. Now, sadly, during my most recent visit, there were more rules in the gym then most fancy gyms Ive been to (no dumbbells on the bench, no sprint intervals on the treadmill, dont leave your gym stuff here, etc...) the garage doors were closed with what seemed to be a new AC system (main reason why I liked this gym was the heat in the summer with the garage doors open, fresh air does a lot for a good workout), the music was so loud that I couldnt hear what was playing on my headphones (not a fan of yelling hardcore rock), and many machines were down including their only cable tower (which has 4 pulley systems, two lat pull downs, and their only cable seated row). I may have caught the gym at a bad time but as of now when Im back in town, metroflex may be the best option----> no rules, garage doors open, plug and play music, and a healthy atmosphere.
Love this place! Great people and really motivates you to stick with it. Equipment for every type of exercise especially for weightlifting and powerlifting.
The best gym Ive ever been to! Great atmosphere, tons of equipment and friendly management/staff. Very community-oriented gym that has greatly helped me improve as an athlete. Would recommend to anyone looking to develop and improve, regardless of what your goals are.
If you want to get strong and/or improve performance then Madtown Fitness is the best Madison has to offer.
Best power lifting gym I have ever been A member of.
Really great set-up inside, however, the way they go about their business is BS. I set up a time to meet with Dan to TALK about getting a membership. For 15 minutes we met.. Everything felt rushed and I was intimated by him. When we made our way to the door, he handed me a clipboard and he was pushy about signing the contract. After meeting with him, signing the contract, and paying the monthly fee + fob key charge, I never set foot in the Madtown Fitness again... For months after this, they continued to hound me for a payment even though I never went back after meeting with Dan. I got roped into signing a contract and had to pay $150 just to get out of being sent to collections... all because I met with him for 15 minutes.
I think it would be difficult not to reach you fitness goals here when youre surrounded by such great equipment and so many motivating and knowledgeable people. I love this gym for the freedom and flexibility it offers, without sacrificing the here to relentlessly improve attitude among its varying levels of members.
I would reiterate what Lance posted. If you are serious about your training and are tired of the garbage equipment that other places have to offer than stop kidding yourself and train here. Great atmosphere for the serious lifter.
Best gym in the Midwest. Hands down.
Would not recommend.
A superb gym with a strong sense of community. I love the kilogram plates on the olympic platforms. There is a machine or piece of equipment for every need. There are enough rigs, racks, and hooks to squat from. This is where humans get strong.
Phenomenal gym hard to believe a gym of this magnitude exist in Madison. Its a type of gym you only see on YouTube or a gym in a magazine that a professional lifter is randomly working out in...its that serious.
Great gym with all the equipment I could ever need and more. Dan and Josh have been nothing but helpful and the people are great!
Its a great gym where everyone has a common goals of getting in shape and getting stronger, not a lot of B.S. just lifting.
The most welcoming training environment that Madison has to offer!
Best PL/Strongman gym Ive seen
