I would recommend FORWRD to anyone. This is the only gym Ive been able to go to every week and stay excited about. I even hesitate to call this a gym - its more like small group training. Whats different about the training here is that it starts with education - learning about how the different muscles in your body work together and affect each other. With the 101 class, you start by learning to engage your muscles correctly in simple poses before moving on to other more complex exercises. Doing a push-up or squat is a lot better when you know youre doing it correctly (and avoids injury)! Just a handful of weeks into the 101 session, I was learning to engage my muscles more efficiently and the things I normally do, I did better and more powerfully (example - I started hitting doubles at softball consistently by applying concepts I learned from Raquel). I also started getting compliments on my posture, which has never happened to me in my life! This gym is a great place to grow and complements any lifestyle or hobby - Raquel will sit down with you before you start and talk about whats important to you. This is where exercise works - when it fits into your life in a meaningful way. Thats where I was struggling - just going to a gym to go to a gym. Try it out! I cant wait to see how I keep growing here :)
FORWRD provides a different approach to strength training. Its smaller class size, hands on feedback, and focus on alignment makes all the difference. Alignergy and Fortitude are, by far, my favorite classes at FORWRD. I walk out of each class feeling grounded and strong. I know that Ive worked the proper muscle groups and did not compensate to complete an exercise or movement. After the 9 week foundations program, I saw an improvement in my push-ups, lunges, pull ups, and overall core stability/strength. Raquel, instructor and owner, is a treasurer.
This place is just so great. So many fitness spaces are intimidating/not accommodating/outright cruel or dismissive towards larger folks, and fear of that has kept me out of more structured fitness activities for, uh, most of my life? Forwrd is totally different. Raquel’s personal training is awesome, and even in a small group class setting, activities are tailored and approached in a way that accommodates a range of ability levels - I never feel like I’m falling short, because everyone is being encouraged to work at their level no matter where it is right now. The focus is on alignment and strength, and on meeting people where they’re at and building from there. It’s welcoming and empowering, and it’s amazing how fast I’m building strength and flexibility.
This is my favorite place to workout! Raquel does such an amazing job of making sure that during each session my body is working hard but also in the right ways. Ive never had a trainer give so much individual feedback while in group sessions. I come to her for crosstraining for roller derby and she listens to what my body needs to not only get stronger but to restore when I need it. I highly suggest checking this place out!
FORWRD is a really unique place and deeply supportive all-inclusive gym environment! Raquels small group training program supports all levels of fitness and focuses on the true roots of strength. Reconnect with your body, dedicate yourself to learning and practicing the fundamentals, and see massive improvement.

Ive recently started the 101 session with Raquel and Dayna, and I love their approach to training. Ive been to several different kinds of gyms over the years, but only with FORWRD have I really felt or seen improvement in my body and mind as a result of my attendance. FORWRDs ALIGNERGY class takes very simple, basic body movements and intensifies them with focus on alignment and breath. Class usually starts with a look at the musculoskeletal system, which helps me focus of specific movements as we train. Im already more aware of my posture when Im not at the gym. WORKNBURN and FORTITUDE classes are well-designed cardio and strength intervals. Raquels training notebooks are helping me see my progress over time, which makes me want to keep working harder, even when Im struggling! Theres a ton of positive energy at FORWRD, and Im really glad to be training here.
FORWRD is not like any other gym, group class, or workout I have ever been to but it’s absolutely the best! I have eliminated paid that’s been bothering me for over 10 years in just a couple months of classes with Raquel. I hope you’ll join us!
