Allow me to provide some sound advise for current/future customers of TruFit searching to better themselves. Try another gym. Now, let me expound on that. This gym sure does care about money. Unfortunately, not about the money of it’s customers. My friend and I sadly had to learn this very important (and expensive) lesson recently. We signed up for the gym with all of the bells and whistles. Fortunately for the membership manager, he saw us coming a mile away. We signed up for a 6 month personal trainer. “Awesome!” You might think. Well, with the exception of the 1st workout, all others were a COMPLETE waste of money. Consisting of multiple sessions where we got to perform deadlifts for the entirety of the session. “How progressive!” Needless to say, PLEASE use our lesson as a reminder to stay away from Greedy Corporate Gyms with (not so)wonderful customer service that will proudly tell you “That’s highly unlikely, but here’s corporates number” when you ask for your money back on personal training sessions that were either CANCELLED, or NOT PERFORMED. Thank you, shall not be named, for that lovely bit. We can finally understand first hand why everyone talked so bad about this place. If you are like us, and would like to be treated with an ounce of reason; then please do yourselves a favor and go elsewhere. Thank you!Sincerely, two customers who cannot wait for their contracts to end.
The only reason I am giving this gym 5 stars is because of the manager of the pool, Laura Forbes. She is turning the pool around for the better and is obviously a very hard worker. She cares a lot about her lifeguards and taking of the pool maintenance for the members. If Laura was not there I would give the this gym 1 star.
I now owe them $1,200 for a personal trainer i only saw once. I moved out of town and sent clear documents that i had moved yet they said it was invalid and kept charging me. They do not communicate about hidden charges and you will be tricked into paying more even after you have cancelled. My only choice now is to take it to court with a lawyer because they have sent it to collections and are continuing to charge me regardless of my proof of moving.
We have been coming here for years. Way before it was TruFit. Aside from the trainers the customer service is horrible. There can be 3 employees at the front counter and not one will smile or greet you. We take our kids to the playroom and it’s the same experience. It’s almost like they hate their job or hate the fact that they have to work. As far as the play room it seems like they don’t even like kids. My daughter mentioned that she doesn’t like coming anymore because the people aren’t friendly at all. The 34th location is better because at least they welcome you and the kids. I thought this was the family location? If you hate your job, which I believe is customer service, then you should quit.
I loved this gym, absolutely loved it. I even paid for the top tier membership! But I am going out of town for two-three months to help with family and they don’t have a TruFit anywhere in Mexico. They are not able to pause my membership due to my contract. But I remember specifically asking during sign up if they are able to pause memberships for any reason and they told me “yes!” Crunch Fitness NEVER gave me any issue with pausing and unpausing my membership. I should’ve never gotten the membership here. I definitely will not be recommending this place anymore.
I became a member in October 2020 and I love this gym so far. I have no complaints about the gym itself or the child care. Adrianna and Paula in the child care center are amazing. They have bonded with my son in a way that I can’t thank them enough. I do not worry about him while I work out and that alone I am so thankful for. This gym would not be the same without those momma’s in the child care center. The front desk staff is very friendly and never misses me coming or going to say “have a good work out or have a good day”!I am giving only 4 stars because the only issue I have is with the manager or managers...not even sure who they are, but they do not have their employees back. Good employees make a good environment. Just since I’ve been there, they have had many employees quit due to bad management. The way you treat your employees reflects what type of manager you are.
I went for a job. I was told that i had the job, but then suddenly he changed his mind and told me no availabilty. If no availability, then why hold interviews and why tell me i had the job. I believe that he gave the job to someone that is younger, and better looking than i am. Also, ihave a visual impairment. He lied to me. Was unfair and discriminate against me
“ This club can’t get their billing system together to save their life. They didn’t properly communicate how credits worked, so I’ve been accruing late fees for months in something that I was never supposed to pay. I called and emailed MULTIPLE times over 3 months, and not a single person returned a call or email for 3 months. To top that off, their billing department called me to collect and ended up hanging up on me. An inability to keep competent office staff isn’t justification to screw over members.“ @katie this is actually very true . They tell you wrong prices then over charge you !
Tru fit has STOLEN $400 from me, I sent them a lease agreement stating I moved out of town and they said it was invalid! They have been charging me the past month and even corporate REFUSES to give me my money back, they are continuing to steal my money and charge me for no reason! Worst customer service ever! None of them care about my situation at all,! Ridiculous. & they don’t seem to be stopping my charges anytime soon. I recommend staying very far away from this gym!

If you get a membership at trufit your better off getting the cheapest plan nothing else is Available or open pools are limited too so your not likely to get in some days, paid for the family plan and extras and haven’t been able to use any since covid last year and they didn’t care to work with my payments oh and let me not forget to mention they charged me twice on the yearly equipment of 97$ plus my regular payment 😡
Clean, Affordable, and Accommodating. I guess the CrossFit type of dressed gyms are still playing dress up as school kids like this with haters leaving poor reviews as they spend a couple yards I mean hundreds a month shaking and baking they prolly get the sweet aroma with their therapy each session.Still some girl not havin any pretty nails and still don’t have boyfriend.. 💁🏽♂️ Like for example Alice in that Wonderland like “I just don’t get it...” and then and then and then still more donts. I say use em if you need a captain to tie some not’s. How low can ya go doing that limbo
I like facility itself, and that is about it. Management is TERRIBLE! I originally had a family account. A year later I made a new account without my wife on it and they never cancelled my old account so I was being double charged. I spoke with the managers between 8-12 times over the next 6 months telling them to stop double billing me. I called corporate, emailed and complained, yet nobody would return any calls or help. Extremely frustrating! They also refused to refund my money and said they had to credit my account the $400 they owed me because I was locked into contract. Fast forward a year, I should have cancelled but I decided to stay and give another chance because of location. We then decided to add my wife back on so she could use the day care while she works out. One week into the day care my kids were absolutely terrified of the gym staff calling them the mean scary people. Both times my wife picked up the kids from working out the kids were crying in the corner while staff were BSn up front. We made a complaint and requested to cancel her membership 1 week into it and they refused saying that was not enough of a reason to break the contract. The following week we signed up at Crunch Fitness and our kids love the day care. Currently were stuck paying two memberships now but I have learned my lesson. Once, this is membership at Tru-fit ends, I will cancel and never set foot in there again. Hope I can save somebody from having the same problem.
Excellent and well equipped gym. Most definitely meets all my needs.
If you are worried about covid at all don’t go to this gym. Instructor lead class in the middle of the gym with nobody wearing masks even though there is a sign on every piece of equipment stating face masks/coverings are required at all times. Absolutely appalling with cases spiking in this city. I plan to down grade my membership from all locations to just 34th where they enforce masks.
Money hungry people. Linda Sandoval from corporate billing is very rude and unprofessional. This whole gym corporation is corrupt. They dont care about you and whenever you dont want to spend extra money on a trainer they start acting rude. These people do not work out! They take steroids. They have cut hours and have not gave back to customers at all because of Covid! Wouldnt be surprised if this place closed down.
Great atmosphere, and friendly staff.
Not very pleased with how they are handling the aspect of people trying to move back home due to the cancellation of Texas Tech University classes. With not having a gym in the vicinity of my location in Dallas I was trying to cancel the membership and they are not allowing me to do that without having me jump through hoops to prove this. Very upset as well as what I was signing was not completely discussed nor disclosed at the time of signing up for this membership. Would recommend if you plan on joining this club you have EVERYTHING discussed with you from the contract you are signing up for, for 12 months and NO WAY TO CANCEL. The associate that signed me up should have disclosed this and made sure all the aspects were covered, however while signing me up distracted me and said if I gave them phone numbers and emails of people I would receive an incentive for signing up rather than discussing the important details of this 12 MONTH CONTRACT...
New comers read all the paper before you sign the paper they tell you one thing and later they say it’s not on the membership they lie to me and didn’t even tell me I was on the contract I had to pay 199 to cancel my contract
I am unhappy with Contract issues and poor customer support. The gym and amenities are great. The staff is great. But get copies of EVERYTHING. Assume you have been told the wrong thing the first time. Dont TRUST them to do the right thing. When one person tells you how incompetent the previous people are it should make you pause. The long-distance billing department is only interested in getting one more month of fees out of you. My suggestion: just dont sign up. Go somewhere else. No contracts.
BEWARE STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE I’ve been in communication with this company since the pandemic. I cannot utilize the gym due to health reasons & have stressed this to them the GM has been careless regarding my situation even though I can’t use the gym, nor have I used the gym at all in months they continue robbing me $90/mth for a unused membership. Now my membership is up and they still won’t cancel as they’re robbing me another month due to 30day notice even though I have been in contact since pandemic regarding my situation and desire to cancel! Horrible place, company, staffing. All they care about is money and will not let you out of your contract no matter what the reason is they are inconsiderate and greedy. The GM and gyms is the worst.
I am extremely disappointed with Trufit. I am sure they are going through a hard time during this pandemic (we all are) but scamming their members is shameful. My contract expired in August. I have confirmation where I talked to the general manager in June via email. I emailed three times asking to cancel my membership... 30 days in advance—like the contract states. They will not cancel my contract. I have been charged two months past my contract expiration PLUS an additional yearly gym membership fee. I will NEVER join this gym again and I would suggest you do not either. The real issue is they cannot keep management in place and turn over causes disfunction. DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM! Find a hometown gym. That’s what I’ll be doing! Extremely disappointed! I didn’t think I’d have problems with Trufit, even though I’d heard bad things, but here I am.
If I could give it negative review I would. They refuse to let me cancel my membership even though I provided a doctors note. Their reply to solve the issue was to temporarily freeze my account but still pay for it or to let a friend or family member take over.
The manager AJ and the the instructors Pete and Nick were all extremely unprofessional. AJ and Pete both pressured my girlfriend into purchasing extra packages onto our membership. AJ told her to stop spending money on eating out so she could afford the physical trainer plan. I’ve been going in numerous times trying to catch AJ when he’s there in order for him to sign the cancellation request and he is “coincidentally” never there. Nick greeted me once and was extremely rude and told me it’s only a “4 month plan” which was wrong it is 6 months. But regardless he has no right to talk on my finances especially considering he works at a gym. I’m tired of unprofessionalism and I want these men to know it’s ok to treat not just customers this way but also people. There needs to be consequences.
I have an autoimmune disease so it’s not very safe for me to go work out. I have 3 months left on my contract so I tried to cancel, explaining my concerns and Health issues. They wanted notes and medical paper work showing my illnesses. They also wanted me to email them to some director that I have never heard about!!!!When signing up I was told I was gonna get all this 1 on 1 and I never did bc of course NO ONE IS EVER IN OFFICE to talk to. THIS PLACE IS A NO GO!If you want a gym I would recommended you look else where.
If I could give this place zero stars, I would. When I moved away, I tried to cancel my membership but every time I went in to do it, the person at the desk would tell me nobody was around to help me with that at that time. Then when I finally moved and ran out of time I had to call constantly and sent hundreds of emails TRYING to cancel my membership and NOTHING. This is not how you run anything. This is fraud and it has almost been a year and I have still yet to have a response. This is the most unprofessional and greedy company that I have ever dealt with that treat their members horribly. I was a member for years and he freaking moved. CANCEL MY MEMBERSHIP.
Honest review from someone that’s been member for the past 5+ years...Tru-Fit ruined this old bodyworks location. That is the consensus around the gym. The remodel was clearly not planned out well (if at all).#1 complaint:You blocked off the best area in the gym and made it the women’s only section. Brilliant. Then they relocated the section where the weights used to be to the indoor pool area that they fill in. Again, brilliant. Will the uneven dry wall on your cheap partition in the indoor pool/free weight section ever be fixed? Can we agree that you probably should have left everything where it was and converted the old indoor pool area into the women’s only section?I’m genuinely curious to know though, we’re the original blue plans for the “remodel” written on a napkin? It seems like that’s how little thought was put into this. Just making changes to make changes.
Stay AWAY!! I had a year contract with Tru Fit that has expired in April. They were closed for almost a month in March which they still made me pay for btw. They auto renew my contract even though i emailed 3 times asking to cancel my membership which they answered me that i have to come in person during a pandemic to sign their cancellation forms keep in mind contract is expired . Now after returning to LBk i have $200 in late fees. Complete scammers. Please PLEASE STAY AWAY i do not sign up with this company and spent your hard earned money .Kelly Nettles which is they operational manager is on top of this scam. You will fulfill your contract and they will renew it automatically and scam you with late fees they. After taking over Bodyworks this is the worst thing that ever happen to Lubbock community that likes to stay active.
The kids pool with fountains, statues, slides was great. We joined because our special needs son loved that pool. The worker signing us up didn’t tell us that they were about to get rid of it, even though I told him that we were hopeful the pool would help our son. We also told him that we would be in Dallas or Houston part of the year for our son’s medical needs. He said we could actually cancel the membership for medical reasons. When we brought a note from our son’s doctor and the other proof they asked for, they passed us along, finally to a collection’s agency. After our son passed away we had to pay the price for a yearly membership, (1/2 of what they changed us through collections) for the membership which we thought was canceled, 2 months after we joined.
I went into this location to simply inquire about lowering our membership access to one location being that my husband and I only use the 82nd street location. The lady that assisted me informed me that it would be $300 to simply downgrade my membership. When I stated that was pretty high and that we’ve been members for about 6 years, she responded with “you’ve been a BodyWorks member not Trufit member.” Trufit bought out body works, therefore I am a member and should’ve been treated as such. I pay Trufit every month NOT BodyWorks. I told her I would talk to my husband and make a decision. We called the gym a few days later to follow up, and I was informed that my memebership was cancelled WITHOUT my consent. The rep at the gym stated she could not tell where or when it was cancelled and that I would have to call customer service and hung up mid conversation. I called customer service and they informed me that my membership was cancelled at the 82nd street location. Customer service also informed me that I should’ve had to sign something to cancel. Which I DID NOT sign anything, yet the lady that assisted me from the gym canceled my membership. The representatives that work there run the business very poorly and show no concern for their members.
Most of the time the pool is clear and clean. However, twice that I have gone swimming this month the pool has been green. It was closed once for being green and the second time it’s on the verge of being completely green. I’m not sure how often this happens since I’ve only been a member for a month and a half. Other than that it’s been great.
This place is awesome! GREAT kid area, clean, friendly and the pool is heated!
I’ve been trying to cancel a service for a month. And I keep getting the run around. When I finally got a hold of someone they were rude and did not show any interest in being helpful.
All TV’s were on Fox News and no one was wearing a mask past the entrance. Dangerous, avoid!
I wish zero stars was an option. We found out after we joined that we pay $70 a month MORE than some friends with the same membership, but didnt complain because the gym had everything we wanted. After the gym was purchased, EVERYTHING we joined for was taken away. The classes we enjoyed, the things what were available for the kids was taken away and my daughter is no longer allowed to be on the treadmill. The staff has been less than helpful after many promises to return a phone call to discuss our concerns.I am currently paying north of $150 a month for a gym membership that we dont need and of course we cant cancel because we signed an agreement. Nothing is the same on their end as all of the facilities and classes available have changed, but I guess they do not have to live up to their end of the agreement.
Always A Good Experience...Its What You Make It!!!!
Re-review from a 1 star. We spoke with the new staff and management about upcoming changes for the children and the gym as a whole. This place is a blessing. Its a place where my son can play, and my wife and I can be healthy and feel welcome. There are plenty of machines and you get the most value out of any other gym in Lubbock. They are still making changes towards a better future as a premiere gym. The current leadership Kaitlyn is done an amazing and has truly turned the place around from what is was. There are still some changes but we will see where it goes.
If I could give no stars I would. New owner of clubs terrible. Very unhappy with the contract issues. The club was purchased so I actually didn’t have a contract with trufit- it was with Bodyworks. Through the purchase I lost access to the tennis club I had on the contract but continued to be charged the $250 per month. I went in the cancel and they said they would bill be another month because I had to give a 30 day notice. HOW ABOUT TO PRORATE 5 months of charging me for no access to the main gym I went to?! TERRIBLE SERVICE. I’ll pay the $250 for the last month but I’ll tell everyone I know and I can guarantee you will lose far more than $250 because if it. Why is it hard to just do the right thing?! I will never step foot back in there.
So I joined the club this January (based upon their claim that Women’s partition will be open by 11 February 2019). We visited after the mentioned date and they simply said it’ll take 6 more weeks! 🤷🏻♀️My husband asked for my membership cancellation since they’re charging around $40 monthly with no chance for me to join (I’m veiled and I can’t just play next to males with my regular outfit) and they said there’s no such thing as cancelling memberships!Never wished to write such review but I’m totally upset!
I love this place. The equipment always works and the custodians are constantly cleaning something. The front clerks dont usually greet you as they seem to busy talking to each other. They just scan your tag and give it back without saying anything. However I am not there for the greeting and can get over this as their machines and weights are in good shape and I am not bothered while working out.
Great gym!
Canceling your membership here is ridiculous.
I got a membership here just to use the lap pool. It was closed for renovations when I joined though, which is fine. Now Im being told that it will not be open for substantially longer than I was originally led to believe.
I have been out of contract for years, since Body works. When Tru Fit bought, they continued it month to month. However went in to cancel October, was told no problem it will be cancelled in 30 days. Was also told there would be no more charges as October had just been charged and posted. November 18th they charged my credit card again, I called to ask about it, and was told cant call have to go in regarding canceling. I did go in again, and was told it would be credited back. It was not, and just received another charge December 18th. Finally reached Ariel Alfaro and explained, he said well you will be charged December also because we dont show a cancellation in November. I explained that I have been in twice over the last two months with no resolution. I also told him I would let my credit card company handle it if he wouldnt. He began to tell me if I did it would open my account again. Seriously think long and hard about doing business with this company, they will not cancel you! I was with Body works for years, and thats what Im trying to cancel. They are definitely not a honest business. BE AWARE!
Me and my family love this place I get a good work out while kids do the kids club thing. The only complaint I have is the bottom of the pool cuts my feet because so much of the paint is chipped. I have to wear swim shoes and I hate swim shoes. Other than that this place is great and I will continue to go here as long as I can afford it!! Thanks for being awesome!
Zero Stars! Terrible customer service experience, they have extremely shadey business practices, have told us on two occasions that our contract has been cancelled only to receive additional charges on the our debit card. If you do choose to get a membership at Tru Fit get copies copies of EVERYTHING!!!. However I wouldnt recommend Tru Fit to my worst enemy.
Used to like this location but the changes inside have made it harder to use efficiently. Warning dont try to workout during sundown in the weight area because those windows turn the weight room into a sauna.
New Year, usually the busiest time for gyms. Scheduled hours have this location opening at 4am. Its 4:50 am and gym still not open. Good luck to bodyworks with new gyms finally coming into this market.
Even with a note from a doctor saying we could not work out anymore they still charged us!! Horrible company and I would be very very careful to anyone thinking they want to join this gym. The negative comments are on here for a reason!!
Poor to non-existent customer service
Great staff just waiting on the pool...Did Love Facility
A very good gym and family sports center with good equipment and friendly staff. If you are serious about getting fit, then take the group class taught by Denise. Her classes are challenging and you will feel the difference.
Horrible gym. The manager does not take harassment seriously and is ok with creeps working out there. To top it off after the harassment he still charged a cancellation fee to get out of the membership. No integrity from management, I highly recommend giving your business to other gyms in town as this one is horrible!
Love this place. I am here twice a day and it is always clean and the staff is always friendly. I have never used a trainer here, but I do see the same trainers working with their constituents daily. They are a highly motivated for group of individuals.
Completely misleading contracts and sales associates. Was told one thing at one point only to have it change. Been paying member for over 2 years and they wont let us cancel the membership. Avoid this place at all costs. Terrible customer service and an awful way to trick people into things without them understanding what you are doing to them.
Pool is nasty, Band-Aids, snack trash, and lifeguards are too in there phones to do anything about it.
Have been a member at 82nd street Bodyworks for many years, primarily using the pool, which is very clean, well guarded, and warm year round. Staff and management have always been friendly and responsive. As a psychologist, have recommended their aquatherapy program to clients who have chronic pain, long-term illness and weight loss concerns. In addition to those motivating classes, the members in the water program get to know and support each other. Good stuff.
The worst customer service I’ve ever experienced! My original contract was with bodyworks & i have since been trying to cancel my membership for three weeks and have not been successful! No one calls you back, and when you call you get someone that ‘doesn’t know’ anything!!! So frustrating.
Zero stars. Im 14 and was hoping to get a membership, before THEY appeared. These Tru Fit guys. Took everything I loved as a kid away. Thanks a lot. Oh, not to mention, I hear the staff SUCKS! WE WANT OUR OLD BODYWORKS BACK, YOU MEANIES! The beautiful jungle poor, gone. Huge pool that I was always scared a shark was in, gone. That playground I never got to visit, but wanted to, gone. The spider climber, gone. Badass and awesome ropes corse, gone. Everyone is mad about this, hope your company burns and you all go broke.
I’m writing a review on you guys not being proactive when I came you to for help. There was a creepy guy staring at me. And it’s not just the one time. I’ve tried coming to your gym different times of the morning and if that guy shows up, he stares at me. Whether it’s him on equipment facing me or creeping on me from behind. I have tried tying a shirt around my waist and this guy STILL stares. The answer I got from the manager and Amanda was ‘oh Steve, he’s actually a nice guy’ I don’t care what YOU guys think.. of course this guy won’t creep on the male manager or the girl behind a desk. But other women trying to workout..After I received no help, I held up my phone, in clear daylight (so he could see my phone) and he still stares at me! I’m going to write reviews that you do not help women who feel uncomfortable. Instead they get a tiny ‘weight’ room and don’t have a squat rack, a cable machine, pull up bar, etc. I’m posting this on my social media, your social media, google and yelp. And anywhere else I can find. No wonder women take years to seek out help with sexual harassment and assault. It’s the small things like this that get blown over. I have already sent you the videos and photos of ‘steve’ staring at me and sent it to your Facebook and Instagram page.
I went in and cancelled my membership back in April 2019. I later recieved a copy of my cancellation showing the last bill date was 04/26/19. I continued getting auto drafted from my account until September. Ive now been trying to get a refund for almost 4 months and keep getting the run around from every person I talk to. Sad that I have to now start a process in small claims court just to get back money they took from my bank without my permission.
Went to take my 19 mth old daughter swimming but shes to little for the big pool there was a class field trip going on in the TODDLER pool they looked about 8 yrs old, they were lining up to leave..... This was my 1st time to the 82nd street location anyway I went in when I saw the kids were leaving and some old lady yells at me to get because it was reserved and to use the other pool....is the reservation more important than the safety of my daughter
It’s a great place to workout, the staff is wonderful and ready to answer any question I may have and very helpful in giving workout tips.
I got my membership at Tru-Fit and was told I would get 13 months for the price I paid .I paid in full 10 days after I signed up I came in and asked to see the contract since I have never got one emailed like I was told.when they pulled it up I realized I had not included the 13th month like they told me.the manager said he would talk to the person Who sold it to me and get back to me.I had to come and talk to him three or four times bringing the subject up again and again only to be told the same thing nothing has ever been resolved I do not recommend tru fit.Go somewhere that lives up to their word and does what they say. Tru fit has horrible management and Lying sales reps
So this is not my home gym since I go to the one on 4th but I wanted to give everyone a warning about this place, my wife recently had a healthy boy and we are very glad but when she was around 6 months she pregnant we decided to sign up so she could use the pool because of the pelvic pain she was having and she had also worked in the daycare area when it was body works so we were familiar with the area but the first day while my wife was trying to get in the pool on the shallow side she slipped and landed on her back and hurt her back and hips and the lifeguard told us it’s been happening a lot since they painted the steps and didn’t put no slippery signs etc so we rushed her to the er and to cut this short it took us over 3 weeks to a month to get ahold of a manger and it was at 4th st and she got ahold of 82nd st and all we got was and oh sorry...and now we are being hit with fees etc and it’s not bodyworks anymore they don’t care about their guest all they want is the money I will be canceling my families membership this week so don’t waste your money
The 82nd st location is simply disappointing. They have good equipment but the staff is just rude and lack professionalism. The people at the front desk do not know what they are doing and cannot answer any questions. I was taking my 6 year old daughter to the pool and they charged $5. Now this isnt a lot of money but I have now taken her to the pool here 6 or 7 times. 4 times it was free, 1 time $10 and 2 times $5.... I was upset because there is no consistency. When I asked why the prices ranged so much he said he didnt know. I was noticeably upset because it just doesnt make any sense. Then I ask to just cancel my membership and they have to get someone to come out to help because they cant. When this very rude guy comes out he tells me Im under contract. When I signed up I was told there is no contract that I just paid monthly fee and a one time yearly up-keep fee which I agreed to. When I informed him of this he could care less, he did not express any empathy or concern that I was lied to at all! Finally after a minute he says well you can go to the person who signed you up and see what they can do... Hey guy you work here too! Own your business and the situation. I wish he and this location took more pride in what they do. He never gave me his name but looking at these reviews it looks like Im not the only one who had a bad experience at this specific location. I had already paid for my daughter to swim so I took her back to the pool and I see the guy Im talking to chuckling with a coworker about our conversation. Now I know it is my fault for signing something I didnt read in its entirety and Ill take ownership of that but how is it a Christian based company can lack so much integrity, hire people that are just rude to others, and just lie to people to get them signed up?Going forward I will sign up at Premier Sports or even gladly pay extra money to go to the local country club and have a membership there for my daughter to play at the pool. At least there I will not be lied to and the employees will not belittle me or be so rude.
Very unhappy with my experience here. The DM is very unorganized and unprofessional. I worked with a GM who is no longer there and made promises she couldnt and didnt keep and wasnt allowed to make. As the GM I made the stupid mistake of believing her. The trainers never stay in one location and are moved all over and expect you to go with them once you are assigned them as a personal trainer. To top that off, the personal trainers are horrible at returning messages and take up to two days to get back with you. I believe this place is overbooked and not enough staff to help
I love tru fit better staff than body works!!!
Nice facility. Cool view of golf course from second story cardio machines.
If youre serious about training, this is the place to train at. They have all of the equipment and more for lifters of any level. As far as service goes, Ive never had a problem with any of the staff there for the past 3 years. I am always greeted in the most positive way regardless of who is at the front desk and whether they are opening at 4am or about to close at midnight. Ive been lifting past closing time on various occasions and have never been asked to leave. The staff will go about their closing duties and lock up after I am finished lifting. I have the Superclub Sport pass which gives me access to all of the Bodyworks locations. I definitely recommend it because having access to the 24 hour location on 34th street is a must if you have a hectic lifestyle and cant always make it to the gym during regular hours. As far as the price goes, for the equipment and locations you get, it cannot be beat... and honestly, the most expensive gym membership is the one you dont use.
DO NOT use this gym. They never, ever, no matter what you do, let you out of your contact. There is no way contact corporate, you are just stuck!!!!!!
I decided to cancel my membership after four years with the company, as the Womens Bodyworks has been closed and I just didnt go anymore. I called to cancel and was told by a rep or employee (Im not sure) that I would have to cancel in person at the location I signed up at. I asked what to do if my location was closed and she told me to go to any location. When I arrived to cancel, the employee who helped me was kind but very pushy and kept questioning as to why I was cancelling, which I understand is her job. After several minutes she got the cancellation form, had me sign and then proceeded to fill the rest out. She started texting her manager half way through, then told me that she couldnt cancel the membership as he had to sign off on it, or I could call and cancel. When I explained that I had in fact tried to call in the first place, she apologized but still said she couldnt help me and I would have to speak with her manager. I went in the very next day but the manager was with a different customer and after waiting for 20 minutes I called customer service (while still in the gym) and spoke with Suzanne. She is one of the sweetest women I have ever spoken with, and while I was still waiting on the manager she got everything taken care of for me. I did deduct a star because this was such an awful experience at this location, but that wont take away an otherwise enjoyable membership over the last 4 years.
It is great to swim in the pool and the work outs is amazing! Its a great place for all ages.
I wanted to go for just 2 months because I’m not in town that long. But they said they couldn’t do that. I said I will move in February and they said to go ahead and sign up and show proof of address change when that time comes. So we were moving forward on the membership ship but some reason they didn’t accept my debt card so I tried to use a different one I just needed to put money on it so I would have to come back; I needed to allow 2 days until money will transfer, and they wanted to keep my personal information. They photocopied my 2 of my credit cards and driver license and then said they’ll hold on to it while I go get money on my card. No thank you! I understand pushy sells men but that is ridiculous. I wouldn’t leave until they gave it back.
The General Manager does not care about the well being of the customer but his own personal benefit from it. NOT A GM
Worst gym ever. the head trainer Justin is rude and always seems to find his way over to where Im working out and continuously talks crap about me to other employees. He has even hit me in the head with a moveable bench, didnt say sorry and got in my face and said or what when i told him he needs to watch where he is going. also Justin, the head trainer there, lets his son and his friends run around the gym playing on the equipment. most expensive and worst gym EVER! nobody come here.
If you have a brain at all you will take consideration of some of these reviews. The company is one giant scam! They tricked (yes tricked) me into a contract advertising I would receive one service, then a few months later, switched me to complete crap!!! I then called trying to get out of the contract, even offered to pay some sort of cancellation fee. Their response: TOO BAD, YOUR IN CONTRACT, WE DONT HAVE TO DO ANYTHING!! IF YOU WANT TO CANCEL YOU CAN JUST PAY YOUR REMAINING BALANCE OF OVER $730!!!!!!!!. What kind of customer service is that?!
Good place to workout and the pool is amazing and the inside looks cool I will be going today to swim😁😁
Ive had a membership with bodyworks for about 8 years total. The only time I didnt have a membership was when I didnt live in Lubbock. So I recently tried to upgrade my membership so my kids can untilize the swimming pool. The gentleman I spoke with didnt seem friendly or willing to help me with this upgrade. After about a two minute conversation about the upgrade he became frustrated and insisted I speak to the GM. I instructed the gentleman Ill come back another day and speak with another employee that was willing to assist me. The conversation escalated very quickly with this employee. Talk about lack of professionalism. Im sorry you had to work on Memorial Day but you picked your profession. I will be taking my membership to another gym. Maybe Zacks.
Ive been going to bodyworks working out solo for a while. The pt manager Justin saw that I was struggling and called me at home to talk about needs. He gave me one personal training session during which I grilled him on everything I felt I needed to know. Afterwards he offered to hook me up with a promotion on training, which when I declined, he respected my options. Based on what he taught me during that one session, I was finally able to meet my goal.As far as the gym itself goes, most of the equipment is in good repair. Every now and then something will need a technician to look at, but the turnaround time has been decent. I love the expansive cardio equipment the gym has upstairs, but the weight lifting area down below is very respectable too. The pool area isnt included in my membership level, but when they have pool events that are open to all members, its been very clean.
Love this gym.
I would rate them 0. One you get the membership, there is no way you can cancel. You will be overcharged again and again. Not a good gym place either. The management and customer service is worst. This place is a huge mess.
Awesome the employees treated me with kindness and respect i will be comming back👍
This bodyworks is the worst gym here in the Lubbock area. The managing is trash, the place is trash. Machines dont work, the gm is a juiced up bald headed piece of crap who doesnt do anything but stand there. If you want to go to a gym, go to 34th or 50th St bodyworks, or even Zachs club. This gym is horrible.
Swimming Pool always dirty and cloudy. No time management at all. Pool supposed to be closed for kids at 7pm, open only for class and Lap swimming after, but at 8:30pm you see kids jumping. Attendants are busy either talking or acting dumb. Lap swimming is a nightmare lately in the evening. One day they closed pool because there was a so called storm, which was just a flat lie. You go to front desk for help, staff behave rude and very unprofessional. If lap swimming is your goal, I advise look for alternate, I paid fees for whole year so I am stuck now.
Edit: very happy with the training after my first visit. Ive gained muscle in the past month and a half of working out with UBF Trainer Brittany. Recommend her and Aaron is super helpful as well. Especially when I dont know where a machine is or how to use it properly, they are cool with you asking! Im still mad at myself about getting the pool pass as I have only used it once so far in the two months Ive had a membership.Old:New member of about 2 weeks. Im going to write this review now, but probably edit it later if things get better or worse. I come from the east coast so people complaining about price I dont get. Its much more expensive out there then it is out here and a lot less convenient locations. The gym is pretty well maintained in my opinion. Wiping down benches with cleaner and such should be enforced better but other than than I think the equipment appears in good shape.Im a little disappointed that I didnt check pricing for personal trainers before I signed on with their contracted training company (UBF I think is the name). I think I got screwed on 30 minute session pricing based on what Ive seen online, but well see if it it is worth it.The only reason I did not give this place a 4 star is because the pool leaves A LOT to be desired. I signed up for the aqua pass thinking the pool was going to be clean and nice and it is not at all. They dont require people to take showers before they get in (like EVERY OTHER PUBLIC POOL ON THE PLANET) so by the evening lanes being open the pool is super gross. And there are no flags or underwater lane markers to warn you for doing flip turns. Not a good pool to swim train in and I will likely only attend the classes. Possibly will get another membership at YWCA and just go to the pool on a per diem basis.
Pool is a plus, machines are usually pretty clean.
Do yourself a favor and stay away from this company.
Great gym! Everybody is friendly!
Great gym ..
Garbage service attitude, deceptive contract, or like Body work !!!
This gym sucks after it became trufit. The large towels are always “in the dryer” You guys don’t believe in having towels anymore?
Its awesome
Bathroom is disgusting and staff is rude
You can’t join at your convenience you have to have a salesperson and apparently they leave before evening.
Youre constantly bombarded with people trying to sell you something or to get your friends contact information.
