In May 2020, I donated a well-running, undamaged 2013 Subaru Forester to the Wayside Christian Mission. They gladly accepted my car. We did al the appropriate things with the title. I was told that Id be informed about the resale of the car so that I can use that information for my taxes. It is now the end of March 2021 some 10.5 months later and I have heard nothing from them. I have made numerous calls to get the appropriate IRS form 1098c. I am repeatedly stonewalled by someone named Randy Weber who says hell handle the issue but never does. He has never returned my call nor has he provided the documentation. If you want to make a donation to a worthy charity but expect documentation of your donation, give to another organization like Goodwill. They are more professional and will respect the needs of the donating public. Ill never make another donation to Wayside Christian Mission.
I think the place will help u... I got in trouble and was addicted. I learned skills and landed a job from those skills. Something I like to do also... I believe this place deserves more credit than what it gets.
Its good to stay for a a couple of weeks, its not a place to call home for a long time. They have resources to help you get everything you need to get out of the streets and a place to call your home etc.
They serve breakfast and lunch and dinner. Help out what ever they can for your needs.
Be ready for a lot of talking, a lot of cursing, a lot of noisy dogs; noise-even at a low level- all night long, but good food!
I have lived at and worked for Wayside Christian Mission since 2007 and never had any problems.
If you are homeless of need a bite to eat. This is a great place that helps the community.
Unfriendly environment. Staff members are rude and if you get in a fight whether youre defending yourself, they permanently Bann you from ever staying there again.
They only allow certain people in and they discriminate against people for there past life and theyre supposed to help homeless people and those who are down on their luck homeless people come from all walks of life
Friendly smiles, clean facility and great food await you ! WWJD
Great information on helping others. Friendly people, ready to share and help with your life.
A Christian organization based in helping everyone. Feeding bodies hearts and minds. If you need or are blessed enough to be able to help donate. No one is turned away, remember, donate your time, resources, or need. Maybe even just a few minutes to share your story of triumph over advertise. It all helps.
Every person who is in need of help is in the hands of God
I went to this mission seeking food New to Town just trying to get something to eat I was told that the front desk if I wanted something to eat I needed to go to the rear of the building outside parking lot very dirty when I got to the back door of the building they told me the people up front dont know what theyre talking about they could not feed me they were very poor on directions as to where I could eat and told me they could not offer me any further services because I do not have a bed there very unfair treatment for any new person in town not recommended
Best recovery program in Kentucky. I have bounced around from recovery program to recovery program. When I finally got to Wayside they helped me to become willing. They really took their time to save my life. I have been sober for many years since. Before my husband passed, he went to Wayside, and had been sober for years. I thank God for Wayside everyday. They loved me back to life.
I was across from Wayside, we Eastern Star Baptist Church feed the homeless every 2nd Saturday of the month approximately starting at 1pm until there isnt any food left.
This Shelter is just ok. If you ever have to go there watch your personal property and keep it with you. All the homeless people all steal from the others and then buy spice with the money. I will never go here again.
Wayside Christian mission is mainly for anyone with an addiction problem. They strive hard to help you out .staff is mainly the residents are made up of residents. But all n all I reccomend it to anyone that is struggling with addiction...
Very nasty. Michelle who you speak to over the phone pretends like she has never spoken to you after multiple calls. Donating things to help those in need should not be such a hassle from Michelle.
Great initiative to help people afflicted with addiction problems. They are a faith based program and are doing wonderful work around the Bluegrass for a few years now. They take care of cases with dual diagnoses.Twice, I did tours at their different locations and I think theyre quite decent in their service provision to the public.Issue is with insurance. If you have a decent insurance then you are good to go.
Theyre truly a blessing
This was by far the worse shelter for anyone to go to.
Went through the recovery program there and i must say it was a blessing
Infested with bed bugs, violent offenders fresh from prison whom are court ordered to be there because nowhere will allow them to stay!Three fights broke out within the first 3 minutes of me being there for the first time. About 5 to seven minutes apart from each other. Very dangerous place.... you are safer hitchhiking!!
This place saved my life. The staff here placed me on a pathway to recovery and instilled in me morals and ethics that lay dormant for years due to my active drug use. Mrs Virginia Taylor was a blessing and Im thankful to have met her
We could use a lot more places like this to help the homeless in the needy and we can also use a lot more people like these people who volunteer their time in the work
Wasnt anything Christian about the inhabitants
The only good thing about this place is a warm bed and decent food. The staff are horrible!!! Theyre always free picking the women, trying to sleep with them by offering them to go upstairs to there room. There is absolutely nothing Christian about Wayside.
I wouldnt advise anyone go there cause the staff and the ppl there are very hateful and disrespectful u go there u well get death threats by the ppl there I dont think anyone should go there and they dont help u with anything .cockroaches everywhere and nice is bad there and they dont care about ur well being
They helped me once in 2018 with housing. Now I love helping to give back! This is a great place to donate and volunteer!
We have donated what would have been taken to goodwill and were very impressed at how many people will be helped with our stuff and for FREE!! This is a GREAT Organization.
This is a good place if you need help up not a hand out why doesnt the community understand there are only supposed to be there to give us a hand up not a hand out come on easy steps for the people who really deserve and need them I was in this place and spend 30 days they helped me when I was in need appreciate it tremendously I wish other folk the same thing this place is like a hotel they help you when youre down and out so I think him very much Robert one of the security guards he gave me purpose Id like to send a shout out to him thank you for putting me on the right road that was seven years ago I appreciate that Robert
This place saved my life. I stand for the people here and the mission. What an amazing place. Love you guys.
Helped me out in my time of need live this place
Rat infestation
If your homeless go there they will help you and if you need turn your life around recovery that the place to go
Wayside is an important asset to the city of Louisville. They provide hundreds of meals everyday and we should all look for ways to support their mission whether its through financial contributions and donations or volunteering services. Thank you Wayside and keep up the great work!
Good place to get help.
Saved my life by the loving grace of God
I was trying to relocate and I was able to walk right in this place for emergency shelter. They do everything they say they do. This is a nice place. I really enjoyed my stay here and got a couple winter coats.
This is a very good local resource for any help area homeless people can find assistance.
We were doing a search party for my nephew because hes missing here in Louisville Kentucky so I went in to see if one of the employees seen him. The black tall man with a gold necklace on and a hat got really nasty with me, while he was writing behind the counter. I didnt understand why he was so rude when were going through a critical time of looking for a loved one that had been seen here. He should be careful God does not like ugly and karma comes in all ways and to people of all skin colors. Wayside you need to do better with your employees
A great place to get out of the cold! If you need a place to stay or a hot meal, go there. They will help you get back on track.
Praise God for a place that offers many services to our disenfranchised community. They allow us to go in and serve the homeless and give respite to those most in need. Though the facility could use some upgrades, they focus their resources rightly on the people.
A few years ago, Wayside took over a downtown hotel and runs it with the help of clients they train. Many services for guests are offered such as a restaurant, with buffet or a la carte services, a clean and comfortable hotel, a chapel. All monies collected through services rendered support this long-standing, pillar-of-the-community 501-c-3.
Pretty great shelter. There are some really cool workers that work in here, not alot of strict rules, very professional
Animal friendly!!! They allow you to stay together if your a couple. If your on the streets and hungry, come to wayside...if your hungry here...YOUR DOING EVERYTHING WRONG...people feed 3 times a day inside, as well as all the friendly outside feedings at the roadside and in the gravel under the highway
Serves homeless well
The people that ran it nothing more than drunks and addicts and mice everywhere.
Never visited
Thisll help that type of people due to an unfortunate circumstances and bad choices I spend some time under the bridge about 3 weeks I must say that it is pretty scary I suppose that the Wayside Christian Mission does their best for The People Under the Bridge theyre pretty ruthless some of them were good people and they help I woke up next to a dead girl so I dont know what else to say and someone else also died while I was down there they also gave a citation to everyone who had a blanket and they called it camping paraphernalia which I believe is really sad I know that it is an ordinance to the city ordinance not to have those things on the sidewalk with their allowing people to be on the sidewalk what else are they going to do I dont know much about the politics involving this and I dont want to get into any more controversial conversations thats it
Wonderful clean place with extraordinary people helping others including myself at one time
Mosley....not to mention aunt Tammy have tried to prevent any one from falling by the wayside as Christ would want.....lower gift recieving residents unfortunately fail to interpret or exhibit christ interpretation of charity....LOVE!!
Their sobriety program is like a slave camp. They pick and choose their favorite residents. They treat them like children and discipline them harshly when they make one tiny mistake. The objective is keeping them clean, and at meetings. Not cleaning bed bugs all day long and picking up filth. The shelter is full of bed bugs and pure filth. The staff racially profile you if youre white. They torment some of these young men to their breaking point. Pay them 50cents an hour to work their hotels and warehouses and clean bed bugs. These guys break their backs to keep the owner rich off donations. The good food that is donated is eaten by the staff and a couple of their favorite people, the bad food is given to children and families like the old donuts put outside covered in flies. Their sobriety program should be called the slave haven. The way the staff talks to some of these young men and women they should be shameful. The healing place is top rated. The health dpartment and adult protective services needs to do a thorough investigation. ASAP letting children lay in filth and bed bugs is disgusting.
Better than I anticipated & serves a much needed service. Have been inside, rode elevators w/clients and polite staff. 3 1/2 Stars is better rating.
I was at the shelter for one week with my child and it was helpful to me. They offered me clothing and hygiene products. I also attended parenting classes. They gave me the rules on a print out and they had shelter meetings to explain things to us. I left the shelter when I moved to my own apartment.
The most outstanding shelter in the larger community
If I could give zero, I would!!! How dare this organization refuse perfectly good food because it was being donated by Kentuckiana Pride Foundation!! How do you see that as a true christian move?? So I guess you would rather see people starve than accept help from the gay? This makes me not want to believe in YOUR GOD because, my God, wouldnt want this to happen
This people do great thangs for are area thank you so much
Lot of good people if youre down and out best place to be they will help more than any
Really helped me in my time of need. I really feel like theres a halo over this place. Gods work shop. Thank God for Wayside.
Its ok but not a good place to be stuck.
Went There With My Fathers House To Serve The Homeless & Those That Didnt Have Much.We Handed Out Care Packages To The HomeLess That Slept Under The Bridges On The SideWalks & We Served Them Food At The WaySide Mission.Lord Jesus Please Help Us Show These People That Theres Hope In You.
I was in the program here I started in 2009 and graduated in 2010. I will celebrate 9 years on September 13th of this year. Thank you Wayside. Its hard to read the negative comments apparently things have changed a lot since I was here because Im a white male a treated with dignity and respect.
This place offers programs to those in need. Not only is it a homeless shelter but it also has a 12 step program. The program is 9-12 months long. I know someone currently in the program. Many times they wanted to quit because of the favoritism played but we have to understand that this world is not fair. So we have to accept it and focus on the problems we are working on.
I came here in 2013 after relocating from out of state. I have also worked here. I love Wayside. They have a hotel, restaurant with the best lunch buffet for $5.00. Yes that right...$5.00 abd $9.00 all you can eat...There is a nightclub inside for a night out in the town. There is a Recovery Center here if trying to aid someone in sobriety men and wonen welcome. If interested in a place to relax this is a nice place and affordable.
Other then them being under funded. They are really making A difference. Things Happen. But when they do. I am thankful that they where there for me.
Helping down on their luck people
I havent stayed in the new shelter so I dont know How to respond for real but it got to be better than when I was there.
Went to help feed.. Need better organization but they have alot on their plate
Great services for the homelessSaid to have bed bugs tho be careful.
Ann Coleman is a very nice lady if your veteran you can get your TARCS pass for half price IF YOU ARE A VETERAN
Way side is a really dangerous place to be I dont suggest anyone to go to wayside I call it waist side all it is is dope Haven spice, heorun, pot .and no one is doing a damd thing about it . People die there all the time it needs to be shutt down completely and tore down
Unfair place
Truly the most disgusting homeless shelter ive had to stay at. I literally got the stomach flu from eating there. The bathrooms are filled with mold and never cleaned.
This place needs a treatment or to be burned to the ground. They have mice running around where children sleep and play, bedbugs, roaches and flys. They offer no resolution but a mouse trap, to catch the mice, that’s all, they need pest control real real bad. They make you sign a waiver saying they ain’t responsible for what happens on the property but does not keep up the maintenance, so if course the homeless are gonna have to sign it if they want to sleep here, they have mandatory programs they expect you to be at, not really helping but just offering temporary transition. Please someone bless us with a voucher for free pest control I can’t stand itching every night from bedbugs bites, I’m up most nights making sure roaches aren’t crawling in kids and plugging a few holes the mice have made threw the wall. I don’t recommend this place unless it’s your last resort. They also feed us expired food. Donated old food. Food not made with love or SEASONINGS. This place is something. I am greatful for the stay and not to be on the streets with my kids, a shower and heat. But that’s it. Everything else I promise is a no. Also if you don’t have a room. You sleep on the floor in the tv room. You get to lay down by nine then be up by five am just to sit and do nothing all day. People are sick and old and they only offer the old hard benches. They have few empty rooms they should let people rest in.
This place is a blessing and the people are caring and loving nice sleeping area for men all new facility. thank you God for this place and the people who are working hard to make it safe and sound
If you want to be beaten and robbed go there
When homeless,its place to stay
I came here when i moved to Louisville. Got friended right away by the other homeless . Food is good snacks in afternoon evening .Staff is helpful. Thanks
No matter what time of day or how much stuff you have to donate they really appreciate it. They come out to your vehicle to get it out
Its great. I love the people here and the way they do things
Love seeing everyone helping others less fortunate out.
Very friendly helpful people and very easy parking.
Corrupt, drug infested, filthy and bedbug ridden, spice-zombie paradise. This poorly ran organization is surely going to be ground zero for the zombie apocalypse.
Its a place to go if you dont have any where to go, but their rules are strict,
Limited mangement, encourages a serious homeless drug problem around hospitals and high residential area. Makes sidewalks dangerous for female hospital workers getting to/from cars
Fam
There is no reason for ppl to be homeless when Eastside is willing to help them
They do a great job in helping others
Everyone was so grateful for the most part.
Awful shady place. Do NOT go there! Find somewhere else please
Volunteered here, and what an amazing experience! They are on the front line battling hunger and homelessness
Good place for home less people
Its ok, good.intresting people . I got to sleep around as much as I wanted? A couple of staff even! My stay was ok?
Needs help,,helping people get better.
A lot of good done for the community!
Wonderful people helping give a hot meal to people in need
