Great experience with Scherer Violin Shop at the Rocky Mountain Folk Festival booth. Will was knowledgeable, informative, attentive to what I was looking for and helpful with history of violin which I purchased. Price was fair and I had excellent customer service. Have been very happy with this violin and appreciated the no pressure sale and demonstration of other violins for comparison of tonal quality to find one that appealed to me.

I recently went to Will for a couple of bow re-hairs and some damage to the corner of the bout on my violin. He was very friendly and helpful, and even gave me some extra tips about setup to get my instrument sounding even better. He was super flexible with timing, and I could tell that he really has a deep passion for working on instruments. The bout corner came out looking so good, you wouldnt even know it was ever damaged. I cant recommend his work enough!

Scherer Violin Shop is definitely a high quality, affordable violin rental just outside of Boulder. I figured going with a good local violin rentals shop instead of buying a VSO online was the best plan for surprising my wife. Will helped out immensely with his full service plan which included violin rental insurance- which will cover most issues that we could foresee in renting.I called all of the other Boulder area shops as well, and a few violin stores in Denver- but ultimately decided that a quality local place near me was the best option. Definitely recommend!

Will is amazing!!! I am new to the area and my violin needed a bit of maintenance and now it sounds better than ever. It sounds so lovely and bright! Once he got my instrument sounding great again, I wanted to do some bow shopping as well. He was very informative and patient as I tried a few different bows. I ended up going home with one that beautifully enhanced the sound of my violin within my budget. (I’ve seriously played for about 4 hours today because I love it!)I have been away from my violin for a while due to life being quite difficult and am very out of practice. I never once felt spoken down to, which seems all too common. I am so very grateful for such a wonderful (and covid-safe) experience. I would recommend visiting him if you are looking for someone who is friendly and knowledgeable to get your instrument sounding its best or to get set up with a new one.

Great violin shop. Will is very knowledgeable and honest. His prices are more than fair and the instruments are very good quality. We have bought our last two violins from Scherer Violins as my son has gone up in size and we have been more than happy with both purchases. Will was also able to help replace a bow quickly when my sons bow needed repair. We will definitely return for all our future purchases.

We rented a fiddle from Scherer Violin Shop for a very long time while our eldest daughter learned to play. The fiddle was in excellent condition and they provided such wonderful help with anything we needed.I also play in a local band and our fiddle player has used Scherer Violin Shop for repair work on her performance fiddles. They always came back sounding better than ever AND with a really quick turn around.Whether youre renting or repairing, this shop rocks!Also, if youre into Old Time Fiddle Tunes, the owner is a fantastic resource for tunes!

I was so happy with my experience with Scherer Violin Shop. Im a beginner fiddle player and Ive only had a couple of months of lessons when at the start of the pandemic, my tailpiece broke and the sound post fell out of its position and I was no longer able to play my instrument. It hung on the wall for 8 or 9 months until I decided to get it fixed. I was able to make an appointment and meet Will to go over the instrument and what needed to be fixed. We talked about both the immediate repairs and what might be coming down the road (its my grandpas old fiddle from the 1920s and will need some repairs in the future). I was then completely surprised when Will said, if you have a few minutes, I can just fix this right now. On top of that, he was also able to make a repair to my bow on the spot as well. When he was done he handed it to me to give it a try, but being so out of practice (and without the shoulder rest) I wasnt able to really play it, so he gave it a spin for me so I could here how great it sounded. I was able to go home with my fiddle that night and start relearning all of those things I forgot about. I re-fell in love with my instrument and am so excited to get back on track and learn how to play my grandpas old fiddle. I highly recommend Scherer Violin Shop!

Will Scherer really knows his instruments. I play with him a weekly jam here in Boulder. And it seems like every couple weeks, Will is trying out another amazing violin just to get the feel of it - some of them are ones that he has made and some are ones that found their way to his shop by some other means. Not only does he play really well, but he knows how to make very fine fiddles.

Craftsmanship beyond compare! Will is an artist in every sense of the word. Exceptional attention to detail and a profound level of skill are evident in all aspects of his work. William is a pleasure to work with! He was extremely helpful to find just the right viola for our child and assisted with his instrumental expertise throughout our rental. I was able to rent a very fine violin for my grandson, a 7 year old beginner. His instructor endorsed the quality and the vendor. After 10 months, Boden has done so well, loves his instrument, and is continuing with his lessons. I applied the rental fees toward the purchase and bought a great piece for Boden.
