We are incredibly pleased with the flooring installation and refinishing that Highland Hardwoods team delivered. We provided 100-yr old wood that I knew was in good shape but uncertain of how it would ultimately look. Each crew member on-site was very friendly, professional, and efficient. The job took a total of 5 days (including the return trips for coating to be applied, dried, and re-applied, for a total of 3 coats) but after the first few stages I had full trust that they were going to make this floor look great. For anyone considering investing in their home, this is a company you can trust to do their very best at making your vision a reality. And one day when we get around to reviving the existing floors that were already in the house, we will be calling them to come back! Thanks again to the whole team and fantastic job!

We had the carpet in our living room replaced with the same type of oak hardwood flooring that we have in our dining room, kitchen, and foyer that are adjacent to the living room. The newly installed floor was then finished and the other rooms were all refinished to match.The floors all look amazing and match perfectly even though the original hardwood floor is 15+ years old. They interlocked the newly installed boards in the living room with the original wood boards in the kitchen and foyer where the carpeting used to start. You’re not able to tell at all that the new floor in the living room is any different than the flooring in the other rooms. With the floors all refinished everything looks completely new and like it was all put down at the same time.The work crews they sent were great and very professional. You can tell they have a ton of experience and do excellent work. I’m very impressed with them and completely happy with how my floors turned out.I would recommend Highland Hardwood Flooring to anyone.Thanks!

My floors look gorgeous and I had a very good customer service experience as well. Mark and team were knowledgable, professional, on time, courteous and helpful. I just bought a 1939 Highlands home with original (but neglected) red oak original floors. One of the realtors (who owns a restored house on St James and super picky) recommended Highland Hardwood as the only business to deal with and I agree. The detail is in the prep which was superb. The sanding and buffing process was meticulous and the finished look shows very well as a result. The clean up and post service was also very good. Mark and team offered to do a snag list that I didnt really even see on the steps so I really appreciated the attention to detail. They also have a showroom where stain colors and final finish gloss levels can be selected which I found really helpful. They answered my endless list of questions as well which was also very appreciated. Highly recommend

Very pleased with the finished product. The workmen took great care to keep the environment clean. They were even able to eliminate almost all of the squeaking from the floorboards and steps!

After posting the below review the owner, Daniel, called and said he wanted to make my floors right. I was in the middle of a large bath and closet remodel so Highland coordinated with my remodel contractor to finish some new floor areas as well as refinish the work he originally did. The final product looks great. He even blended in some spots in the kitchen where my new cabinets did not cover the floor the same as the old ones. Thanks for making this right Daniel.I know these guys are suppose to be good but I did not have a good experience. Spent $12,000 to have our floors refinished and they are of different gloss levels in some areas. The process with our foreman was frustrating as he called over and over about the same questions and then still did not do the work correctly or with any level of quality. Asked them to come back out after all the work was done and they blew me off. Not good.

Best flooring company in Louisville! I originally reached out to Highland Hardwood Flooring in 2013 for help with my first property that was a fixer upper in Old Louisville. Portions of the original hardwood floors were covered over with laminate flooring and all of the original floors were in pretty bad shape with stains and signs of previous sanding that was done incorrectly. Highland Hardwood Flooring came in and completely transformed my place bringing the original hardwood floors back to life. They patched pieces of missing floor that matched exactly and stained the floors to go with the look I wanted in my place. I loved what they did then and the floors still look amazing today!After having such a great experience with Highland Hardwood Flooring with my condo they were the first and only company I would call to help me out professionally. My company owns a suite at UofL Cardinal Stadium and it was way overdue for an update. With only 2 weeks to the first football game, Daniel Holyfield (the owner), came out and provided us with some great (and affordable) options for new floors. His crew came in and handled the task of ripping up carpet that had been down since 1998 and padding that was completely glued to the entire floor. They tackled the issue of a big electrical conduit running across the middle of the floor (which is not ideal when you want smooth flooring without any humps/bumps) and we ended up with beautiful new floors just in time for kickoff. Our team could not be more pleased with how the suite turned out and, in my opinion, the most important piece was the floors!Daniel and his team are professional, dependable, very skilled at what they do and are just great people overall! Highland Hardwood were really great to work with, and did a very nice job refinishing our old red oak floors. The communication, scheduling and cleanup after the work was all very professional, and the floors look fantastic.There were a couple spots in the floor that we were not satisfied with at first, and they had a person out the same day I emailed them. He fixed the issue and made the floors look perfect.Their estimate was reasonable, and the cost was well worth it for the quality of work. Id highly recommend this company!

I hired Highland Hardwoods after a few different recommendations. I made the decision to go with pre-finished hardwoods because I did not want the wait and the mess associated with finish on site floors. One week before my install was to start (and about 2 months after the order was placed for my floors) I was informed there were no prefinished floors to ship and I could either choose something that was in stock (that may not match) or I could go with finish on site (Thanks COVID). In order to keep the job on track I opted for the more expensive, messy option of finish on-site floors. At that point, I would have loved an in-person consult to lay out the poly options - oil vs. water - (and if the fumes, etc. were toxic/should I move out, etc.) and what I was going to experience and expect for the next few weeks (cure times, etc.). I never understood what finish I had on my current floors and if I matched that, what would my wait time be. As it turned out, I could have opted either way since Daniel persuaded me to keep rugs off the floors for 30 days regardless of finish.The finish from old to new floors is different in texture, but the color is perfect. I do understand they will age differently but hopefully it wont be that noticeable.Communication could have been more abundant, and I could have researched more to ask the right questions. The on-site crew was reliable and communicative and trustworthy. I would recommend and/or hire them again.

Highland Hardwood Flooring and their team of installers were amazing. Everything from the initial meet and greet to discuss hardwood options to the install, sand, and stain was so professional. I can not say enough great things about the high level of work they do. We had our living room and foyer sanded and an additional three rooms of new install. All stained to Bona White. The final look is simply beautiful. I can not wait to schedule our stairs and two additional rooms. I HIGHLY recommend Highland Flooring.

From the beginning of our project to the end, highland hardware has been both professional and very personal. They have communicated about each phase of the project as it was completed. Our floor looks good overall, but there are details that if you closely I think show that the installers were not the A team. Im a bit surprised at the number of 5 star reviews. If you are a detail oriented person make sure you get those details noted in advance so it is clear what you want vs what can be done or what the installer can do.

This is the best contractor experience I have had in a long time! They installed wood floors and sanded and stained my stairs to match. They were very responsive and kept me informed of all delays with the wood deliveries. Theirs installers were on time, professional and did a perfect job. A supervisor was sent out to inspect the job and address any concerns. I highly recommend them for and if your wood floor needs.

I had a fantastic experience with Highland Hardwood Flooring. I received a quote for the job within 1 business day, and got my floors scheduled for refinishing right away. The crew was courteous and responsible inside my new home. I noticed that they accidentally damaged my thermostat, rendering it inoperable. But guess what? I came by the next day and what do you know - a brand new digital thermostat had been installed at no cost to me, the customer. The finished 1950s floors are now gorgeous and vibrant. The quarter round molding and transitions were done beautifully as well. I vouch for HHF through and through. Thanks for a great job at a great value.

After getting four quotes from different business we went with Highland Hardwood Flooring because of the prompt response to our inquiry and the fact that Daniel the owner came out and quoted us himself. The overall first experience was beyond pleasant, even during these trying times. Id also like to add that they werent the cheapest quote we got, but they were without a doubt the most thorough in explaining what we could expect from the service and all the options that came along with it.Ive covered what to expect before, but here are some notes on what to expect during the job and after; they were able to squeeze us in earlier than expected by almost a month, which was great. Alex was the employee doing our job and he was fantastic, and made choosing out stain very easy. Mark - Highlands project manager stayed in constant contact throughout the job, and although there was a minor setback early on they were all hands on deck, literally, to assure we were taken care of. The floors we were refinishing needed to match a staircase that is 16 years old and has a polyurethane finish, therefore it had taken on an amber color over time. It was a little tricky to get the right match, but Highland worked with us until we were happy with the finish. They were very particular about the details and finished the project in the time frame given.

If you need any flooring services I strongly suggest you call Highland Hardwood. I called to set up an appointment for an estimate and was able to meet with Daniel the owner that same week. Daniel was prompt friendly and more than willing to answer any questions I had and explained to me the process of refinishing my hardwood floors step by step. They were able to get me on the scheadule right away as I needed the work done as soon as possible. The floors in my home are original pine floors and are 110 plus years old. I had several repairs that needed to be done including patching a large hole where an old chimney use to be. They were not intimidated by the job and seemed to enjoy the challenge. Josh was a pleasure to talk to through out the process and did excellent work. He understood my desire to keep my floors looking rustic and was able to keep all their original character and charm. I am amazed at how good they turned out and so impressed by his skills. They had my old floors looking shiny and new again in just a week. We had a water pipe leak that ruined the carpet in the downstairs bedroom. Highland was very responsive, especially in these strange times. Estimate was reasonable, team arrived on time for the installation and did a great job.

Initially we had some issues, but honestly, they were our own issues. Once we expressed our unhappiness, they were on top of it and made it so we were happy! We plan to use them again once all the quarantine is over!

Daniel came to our home, quickly assessed the situation and gave us a comprehensive bid to repair our damaged floors (including moving the furniture) and explaining the entire process to do the job correctly. These guys did an amazing job of restoring more than 2000 square feet of heart pine floors plus a large staircase in a 125 year old home. There were several challenges including a few areas that I thought would have been impossible to even fix such as large holes and missing sections in the flooring. They had no problems repairing these areas and looking at the floors youd never know a repair even made. Daniel, the new owner, communicates quickly and succinctly. Id recommend these guys for any refinishing or installation projects.

We recently bought an older home and decided to get our hardwood floors refinished by a competitor. He was highly recommended by Home Advisor. The floors actually looked worse than before. The contractor agreed to redo some of the areas but it didnt look any better. We contacted Highland Floors and the owner was very gracious. His crew did a excellent job. The floors look brand, exceeding our expectations. Our only regret is that we didnt contact initially.

First class company with great customer service. We just had our hardwood floors refinished & they look brand new. The crew that did the work on our project did an excellent job & were very respectful. I actually tried to refinish my hardwood floors by myself. Let’s just say it didn’t turn out too well. I called Daniel, the owner, and he came out to my home the very next day and saved me! Refinishing your hardwood floors is a huge undertaking and usually a huge mess, but not with Highland flooring. The crew was efficient and meticulous throughout the whole process. I can’t say enough good things about this company & would highly recommend them to anyone.

We used Highland hardwood for our upstairs hallway and master bedroom. The price was right! The crew and install was professional with meticulous! I will definitely use them again if I have a need for more hardwood!

My experience with Highland Hardwood Flooring was abysmal. Work on my floors was extremely slow and upon checking each day, I saw very little progress. Maybe thats what happens when you work less than 6-hour days. I was present on the first day of work and repeatedly asked the crew to keep my front door closed. I checked my house each night and found the crew had left numerous lights on and turned my air conditioning down (and left it turned down) to 55 degrees every day. Phone calls, emails, and texts to the owner were not returned. Upon completion of the work, I found stain marks all over my woodwork and door frames; a hole in the baseboard; and a closet door stuck to the flooring, which resulted in a large scrape on the new floor. The owner came out and claimed his crew could not have put the hole in my baseboard and made excuses for the scrape on my floor. He eventually had an installer fix the two problems, but I had to paint the repair and apply polyurethane to the area of the scrape because the installer neglected to do either one.The ladies in the office were very nice. Each day when I called in with a complaint, they acknowledged my right to be upset, were properly horrified by the days events, and said they would contact the owner. He not only didnt call me back, he didnt address any of my concerns.I would not do business with Highland Hardwood Flooring again and strongly urge others to look elsewhere.

Very professional and courteous. Repaired termite damage on my 100 year old pine floors with care after first guy I hired ruined more than termites. Care about my position and floors as much as I do. Highly recommend.
