Hey Bruce, why did you even have to write a review!! You got your product back and an explanation. The dealings I had with Louisville Geek have been more than positive. When one tech couldnt figure it out another tech got on my computer without even coming in to solve the problem.Sometimes I feel people who like to complain, complain about EVERYTHING! I GIVE YOU ONE STAR on ratings.
This company is horrible! They have a person working there - Nell [LadyNellB] Bradford who keeps harassing me! May the good lord make her a better person!!!!
I emailed Louisville Geek with an explanation of what my project entailed, which was authoring 3 DVDs from MiniDV tapes. They gave me a bid which sounded reasonable and I shipped the project Priority Mail on June 8. On June 24 they emailed to say the package had arrived (actually a week or two before, of course) and said the project would be completed by 7/5 and [at] the latest by 7/10.That time frame came and passed. I called Louisville Geek but my call was not returned. When I did contact the person working on the project he said he was having a little trouble but was working on it. Finally, over a MONTH after the project was to be completed I managed to talk to that person again, and he said my package was on the way. I was stunned when it arrived and the project had not been completed at all. I got a personal check refunding my postage and an apology for unprofessional behavior. (Which included, after the letter was written, not admitting the project was uncompleted when I talked to him on the phone.)I talked to a supervisor about the project being returned uncompleted and he was very dismissive. His attitude was your project was returned. What more do you expect? He had the nerve to tell me he didnt think his company had a future working with me.What I expect is:Professional completion of the project in the agreed time frame.For them to have not taken a project they could not complete.For them to turn over the project to a company who DID have the skills if they didnt themselves.Prompt communication.A polite attitude.The failed in every category. Returning the project TWO MONTHS later, uncompleted, with poor communication and a bad attitude, easily earns Louisville Geek 1 star.
My wife spilled coffee on her MacBook. We immediately unplugged and called Apple. They said the gray file with a question mark meant my hard drive was gone. We took to the Apple Store later that day. They said they do not have techs onsite, could only fix physical damage. And suggested Geek S---d. We are not fans of Best Buy, so that was not a good option. (When she checked their website for possible cost - depending on what tier of damage > $250-$1,500!!!!!!! and up to three weeks to service.)So, she decided to ask her two professional sisters who work in town. Immediately, one said Louisville Geek. Jeff is the owner - really nice guy. We took laptop in next day, received a call next day, and had my data recovered for under $50. Yes, that would be 5-30 times less then the other Geek business.Louisville Geek is the only place I will go for fair, honest, and quick computer service!

Very unprofessional. agreed to pay for 3 hours of monthly service for a measly $50 discount... ended up paying well over that every month by a margin of an additional $500+ each and every month.They do all they can to absorb the paid up-front hours only to bill the skin off of you later one. Not to mention the issues I called in with on the first call remained over two years later...Also the team at Louisville Geek act as if they cannot make a mistake and their unprofessional attitude goes a long way to a miserable experience.Will never recommend them to anyone in Louisville or otherwise.
I have had a private professional practice for 10 years now and almost right out of the gate I began using Louisville Geek for all my computer and networking needs. From little events such as reloading OS software to recovering data from a failed hard drive (Both external and internal,) with a huge percent of success, to correcting my do it your self home networking issues. I have had them triage and repair computers on site as well as dropping off units for them to work on in house.In all cases, I have received nothing less than a clear explanation of what to expect in terms of cost and steps they will take to correct the problem. In the event the issue isnt solvable based on my request, then I get a call to explain what the next steps may be and any anticipated cost related before any further work begins.For business house calls, they have always called to verify the date and time a day or two prior as well as calling 20-30 minutes before the scheduled arrival. This level of courtesy alone has kept me a loyal client and worth every penny.
