We rescued our fur baby yesterday. The facility is by far the cleanest and nicest we have seen. Staff was amazing and helped us find the perfect fit for our family. We are already so in love with her and she’s perfect.
They do good work here but I saw a lot of dogs without water.
Very caring staff. I adopted my sweet new companion. Would recommend this place to anyone thats looking for a fur baby
Even during Covid there are people working everyday to save the fur babies. We actually adopted a puppy as a second dog. First one we met with love at first site. The ladies were nice. I actually like it better under the COVID restrictions because you can focus on the dog at hand there isnt alot of distractions and people there to fight to see dogs. So glad we have our new fur baby he is the sweetest and the cutest pup! I think he is pretty happy with us too!
I had to take lab pup about 5 months Old. He is so cute, smart and loving. I felt that he would be better off with a family and be able to have a nice yard to run in. I wouldve kept him, my 15 yrs american pit has cancer. So I felt like I couldnt take care of him. His name is... TANK. Yes I do miss him, I so much that someone will love and care about him
Extremely friendly staff. We got our baby from here she was extremely sick when we got her and the staff made sure we were completely taken care of to make sure she was taken care of. Cinder has become a totally different cat since we got her home she is spoiled. We absolutely love her. Please adopt dont shop.
Just adopted a cat & they told me noooo info on her before I took her home. So essentially, she was fixed the day before I took her home & they didn’t tell me at all. The hospital they recommend (VCA) even says the cat after surgery should be watched, never taken outside, no stressful situations; basically no activity. But they let me take her & now she’s had sooo many issues with her incision. They should’ve told me so I could’ve waited, been more careful, etc. & they should’ve made her stay at the shelter for a couple more days after surgery anyways. I feel it was really unprofessional & now this poor cat is dealing with a lot of pain. Also shows how they care about the animals there.
Easy to park. Efficient and prompt service for getting pet 🐕 license
This was the nicest animal shelter I have ever been in. The people were friendly and the pens were pretty clean.
Donated some items...Everyone was very helpful. Greeted as you walk in the door.🐾🐾🐾
Friendly staff and lively animals. Would get a dog here. Highly recommend.
They were great but they havent returned my phone call about if my cat ate while he was with them. & its impossible to get anyone on the phone. Thats not cool.
I can’t thank the staff/doctors/facility enough. I just moved to Louisville a few months ago and had been looking for a fur baby. I randomly called one day to schedule some viewings and the people at the desk couldn’t have been friendlier. That day I found my best friend, who I’ve named Cecil. Thank you so much for bringing me love and joy with all of your help
Filled out application on line for specific animal. 2 days later after not hearing from them I stopped in after work. Knowing it was too late to compete adoption process I inquired about the same animal and asked if it was still available- they stated it was...I said Id be back tomorrow. As I was leaving I heard the same lady tell someone else they would hold and animal(s) they picked out. I wasnt given that option and needless to say the animal I was interested in was gone. Wont be going back.o
I wanted to get my dog microchipped after having her licensed a week or so ago and was referred to Louisville Metro Animal Services. The whole process was fairly quick and my dog didnt seem to mind the implant at all! The total cost was $26.50 and comes with an ID badge for your pet as well as a card to carry in your wallet. The peace of mind that comes with having my dog chipped is priceless! I know this place offers many other services, including vaccinations and adoptions. Apparently they will soon be relocating to a new building close to the Newburg Rd. facility, so be sure to check to see if theyre open before stopping by.
Their staff is veryProfessionalVery knowledgeableAnd very caring and concerned about giving their animals the best possible adoptionMy best experience everWould recommend highly
We adopted our wonderful dog from here. I cant be more happy about the experience. We have since tried to adopt another dog and I realized we just got lucky. There are so many hoops to jump through, they never answer your email, they will make you sit and wait for a long time just to meet a dog. We got lucky with our current dog but I dont think we will have anywhere near as good of an experience again.
Only reason for a four star is because it took over a hour. For anyone to come and help. And with two cranky toddlers waiting for over a hour in a car wasnt fun. But when we did get helped everyone was very friendly and very helpful. Very happy that their is a safe way to help stray animals.
Love my dog! So glad she was cared for until we came along to add her to our family.
Amazing they took our stray cat in and are going to fix him up 🐈
Staff is super friendly. The center is as clean as it can be.
We are very grateful because thats where we just got our new dog
Very sweet staff and super accomidating of us and the animals!
I found a dog an they gave her shots an everything she needed an on top of that they let us foster till we found the owner for her an we told them an called an the dog is with her family now . Thanks to all of us . U do such great work . Thank u
Loved it there all the staff was friendly and so helpful Thank you LMAS
Do to the Corona virus procedures are different now. When entering the facility people are to pull between the buildings and park in front of the yellow signs. From there you are to call the number on the sign and persons from the facility will walj out to meet you. I was taking a community cat/alley cat for vet attention. The process worked really well. Good people doing a great job! A wonderful asset for our community.
I adopted a 6 mo. Old pit mix. Hes not perfect but with the right amount of love and attention hes going to be great! 👍 Animal House made the whole experience quick, insightful, answered all my questions and even a few I didnt know I had.If your bored and in the area stop in and play with a couple of the animals. No obligations. I give this place 5⭐s
Those ladies were very informative, knowledgeable and quick to offer their assistance!
Well I lost my little dog and was so worried we wouldnt find him. Ive been told stories about how it was a KILL shelter and the people were so mean and nasty. Well sorry to say they were as nice as can be and I found out that we do not have a KILL shelter. I actually donated 25 dollars to them. The reason we have a no kill shelter is because people donate and help out. SO PLEASE DONATE. Yes we got are little dog back and he is happy as can be to be home.
Adopted a dog here. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. The facility was top notch. Adoption process was easy and straightforward.
They were very friendly and helpful in getting our dog back.
This facility is extremely clean and odor-free. Once you walk into the main room which is huge it has a nice vibe. I went to only look at the cats, maybe pet a few. There werent a lot, but the ones there looked to be in good health, happy and the cabins they were in were very clean. It is nice to see such a clean facility. Everyone I spoke with was pleasant and informative and spent a lot of time with me answering questions about a senior cat. The ladies at the counter looked up the medical record and gave me a copy of it. Little Sprinkles looks like she has had a pretty rough life, but with much love and good food she will be on her way to happiness. COVID restrictions make you wait in your car until you/re called then you can enter by the side entrance. I saw many sanitizer bottles placed around the facility. Yes, I am a huge just to look at failure, I pick up my cat tomorrow. LOL
I will change my review once someone calls and makes an appointment for my friend to surrender their dog.The process has been difficult and I believe it should be much easier, especially for people who are having hardships, severe depression/anxiety, and have substance use disorder and need to leave immediately. They’re trying to do the right thing but it has been hard for them. They don’t answer phone calls. When they do, they tell you that they will call back but never do. I brought the dog and waited two hours only to be told no. Luckily my friend answered the phone and I was able to take him back. The next day my friend gets a letter stating that he will be fined or jailed because of the dogs condition(mange, that they can’t pay medicine for)How can you try to jail someone when they’ve tried to surrender him??
LMAS does a wonderful job with their adoption centers.
Got my perfect little kitty from here in about 30 minutes. Staff was super nice. After dealing with the absolute dumpster fire that was the kentucky humane society and kentucky pets alive, Im glad that there is an organization that actually cares about getting their animals adopted and making the process stress free.
Thanks to this place convincing us to adopt a dog for our family with small children that we later found out was put into the shelter for biting a child (found this out after it but our child), we will never ever trust any shelter or any animal from a shelter. If their goal was to adopt animals, they have failed. We warn everyone we meet about risks with potentially dishonest shelters.
Great experience..... we are so happy with our new addition. The place was spotless and organized, people were great.
Very helpful and compassionate. Ive been there 4 times with stray/injured cats within last 4 years. They always help me.
The ladies were very nice and informative. They helped my friend make a decision regarding a kitty with special needs. The place was very clean and did not smell. Everyone should ADOPTED NOT SHOP!!!
Due to Covid you have to wait to enter, which is perfectly acceptable. The issue I had with today was I told them I was specifically interested in looking at 2 dogs, I gave them both of their names was told to wait and someone would come get me. After over an hour (I was told the wait could be 1-2 hours), they come get us, we go inside and are told that we couldnt see either of the dogs we were interested in because they were in weekend fosters. And I am happy they were given an opportunity to get out of the shelter, but why wouldnt you just say that over the phone when you were told those were the dogs we wanted to see? It was a waste of our time, the staffs time, and the other people who were waiting behind us. These are challenging times and we have to learn to adapt and be more organized.
The experience was wonderful they were wonderful people we got us some wonderful pet we loved it
Clean knowledgeable staff. Most dogs were pit bull that was the only issue
Refused to assist with a situation involving an animal that is licensed and registered with lmas. Refused to adopt an animal without a legitimate reason, they would not even allow me to fill out an application. These poor animals being kenneld and one of them could have been given an opportunity to be rescued into a loving spoiled home.
You have to wait in your car for someone to come talk to you and give you a list of adoptable animals. Then we were informed it would be a 1-2 hr wait before we could come in!! Thats RIDICULOUS
Was experiencing license issues, so I went in for help, and they were wonderful!
We adopted two kittens here. Best decision ever! We saw the before photos taken when they were dropped off, and the care and attention given to bring these little guys back to health was amazing. Both kittens are playful and loving--they sound like motorboats when they purr! The employees obvious really care about animals!
Wife and I just visited and adopted our new forever girl, Karma. Staff was super professional and very conscious with covid. Thank you to all the girls involved in helping us get our new girl home to TN. We already know shes the perfect fit.
I dropped off a lost dog I found in my neighborhood and they were so professional and made me feel I did the right thing since no one claimed him. I already have a female boxer and she wasnt have it or I would of kept the little guy...thanks for taken care of him ❤🐾
So far I like them. I hope they do a good job with my baby kitty she is getting spayed today!
Very nice about my lil hoodini, cleaned him up in the back & got his shots at half prrice of what the vet charges
Polite, staffing... I, called from the parking lot, and was told to go to the double doors...knock and I, would be helped... And I, was ! In and out less than 10 minutes overall...
Great workers who know their fur babies. Just ask a question, they will happily answer. Or find someone that does. Beautiful and clean .
We adopted this Angel and we cant imagine our lives without her now. I walked in there feeling sad and heartbroken- but after spending the day and seeing how loving all the staff and volunteers are and how many adoptions happened... My daughter and I are planning on volunteering there. 13/10 would recommend.
I found a dog I knew it was a neighbors but I didnt know which street or whos dog. Real sweet dog. Family member took it to the shelter it wasnt there 24 hours maybe. They charged the owner 180.00 and gave the owner a court date for non restraint because they wouldnt spade their dog. Guess we got to get that dollar some how I guess.. P.S. the dog was restrained it had slipped out her collar & ran. It could have happen to anyone. At least the kids were excited to see their best friend again.
Amazing staff. Amazing work. Professional and helpful! Took amazing care of my babies.
First impression it was not so good but everything got figured out made us feel better about dropping off the dog
Staff is very friendly and doing there best during these covid times.
Had the worst experience with this shelter. Would not recommend.
People talk a lot of trash about LMAS, comparing it against other privately run animal shelters in the area. What you dont see is that LMAS never turns animals away like other animal shelters do. LMAS accepts ALL animals, regardless of condition. My 5 star is related to recent experience. Two cats about 1 year old appeared in my neighborhood a couple months ago. One is a super friendly boy and the other a semi-feral female. We caught the boy and took him to LMAS for an evaluation. They said to bring the girl if we could catch her, which my husband did. They brought them both back the next day neutered/spayed and vaccinated (neither were very happy and not eligible to be pets).I didnt know that LMAS also participated in the TNR (trap neuter release) program like Alley Cat Advocates does. You can bring in any stray / neighborhood cat anytime, as long as its in a humane trap or carrier.
Thank you animal house for blessing me with 3 angel cats and one angel dog :) love you guys
Waited nearly 3 hours in my car waiting to be called to see a 10 year old dog for $100., After my 1st choice was gone. Gave up and left for 50 mile ride home. Waste of time.
We ended up adopting two kittens but both had multiple health issues that I feel animal house should have been aware of and disclosed to us. They both had respiratory infections, infections at their spay sites and one had an eye infection. We chose to treat them at our vet as our children were already attached. The workers were also not very helpful or informative. I would not adopt from them again.
I had applied for a particular dog and was told repeatedly to be there by noon so thinking ahead I decided to get there by one so I would be the first in line to see him. At noon the doors opened and we all were asked who was first and I said I was and then I was asked which pet I wanted to see so I told them, and immediately the lady said “I’m sorry but he was ADOPTED at 10am this morning. You can imagine my surprise!! With that I asked how that happened and she said “my supervisor allowed it”. I then asked to speak to that supervisor and the lady went back inside but came back with just a piece of paper in her hand with the email address and name of the Director and the Supervisor. Not only wasn’t I or anyone else given proper opportunity to see this pet, there is absolutely NO WAY WHATSOEVER The Animal House or LMAS will ever know with certainty that this particular little dog went to the best home because this Supervisor circumvented all protocol and allowed a “behind the door” adoption ! If this is how it’s normally done, don’t bother to go there assuming you will get any particular pet because you too may get messed over!!
Amazing staff. took great care of my cat 🐈 Joey. thank you
They are very kind and loving to all the fur babies. They give so much of themselves. Thanks for taking such good care of mine before and after surgery🐾❣🐾
Today we had a stray pit bull running in and out of traffic on our road. After getting him to come to us we called for dispatch, and basically told us they couldn’t guarantee pick up. So we found someone with a truck and took him to Steedly and then sent us to Newburg. My husband has sat for over an hour to do the right thing and turn him in. This should not be so hard to do the right thing for this dog and community. The level of service is poor, having people who are doing dispatches job, to sit and wait to turn him in. The level of service from dispatch call to in person service is absolutely ridiculous. The Animal control system wants to just let him roam and get hit. You really need to figure out a way to process pets that are being brought especially those who are doing a good deed. Poor service disappointed my taxes go to fund this level of disengagement and neglect..
Completely awful service. Do not trust them I you love your animals. They came to my home to grab my 1 year old domesticated cat because he needed to be fixed, was supposed to be returned to my house the next day. I am still missing my baby boy
Absolutely awful, poor service, slow. DO NOT GO! LONG WAIT. Didnt even get to see a dog or even go in, waited forever. That is it in a nutshell! Awful!
Great place, great staff
THEY ARE ONLY AFTER UR MONEY!! DONT TRUST THEM!!THEY DONT CARE ABOUT U OR UR FURBABIES!GOD FORBID YOUR PETS END UP HERE!!THEY WONT WORK WITH YOU EITHER!COMPLETELY WRETCHED HORRIBLE PEOPLE!!!
Metro Animal Serives cant be bothered to answer the phone or return calls. The information you are provided about the animals they have for adoption is unreliable at best.
A huge THANK YOU to the folks at the Animal House Shelter for helping all animals and helping me find my furever friend SABRINA she is an angel and has fit right in and pretty sure she rescued me!🐕😍
Picked up my last cat here. The place was clean, the people friendly.
My boyfriend and I went here looking for our cat. Everyone was kind and helpful. The lady even printed off...I dont even know how many flyers to try and help us.
They do great things for all the animals in need
