Man the people saying good things about this place maybe is because they at thefts addicteds I see and I know this can places get allot at money from government and privet organizations but the funny thing is when you ask for something alse like buss pass or something you never see the bunch of money they get is allot of corruption races preferences based in your raze and they forgot something not all the homeless are the same sometimes is criminals addicteds and people just like to live like that
Theft, drugs, violence, despair. Sleeping on the streets was better than staying here.
When I called this shelter to try and make contact with my son, a woman told me ;“ I will neither confirm or deny your son is here!”I tried explaining I know he’s there because after an emergency hospital stay we thought we were coordinating a transfer to a rehab facility but he was dropped off at the shelter instead . After finding out he was sent to the shelter I called & a very nice gentlemen said he knows my son is there & said he had no problem letting him use a phone to call me .I explained that I’m 3000 miles away I don’t live in California & I’m trying to have contact so I can help him .He has no cell phone. When the woman I spoke to heard about this explanation, she chewed me more out saying no one is allowed to use the phones there, and anyone working there allowing it would be in trouble .I further tried to explain I need to help my son and 0 communication is preventing it my hands are being tied . She then told me I will not confirm or deny and I won’t tell you anything.I’m confused, I think I’ve been very polite under this stressful situation, is this shelter refusing to let family of someone there,,, make contact & help ? I’m not trying to get anyone in troubleI’m trying to help my son, but since he got to that shelter,,,,,, you’d think he’s in jail, no calls allowed . The woman also makes me feel like if I keep trying to make contact it will cause problems . I’m not sure what that meansMy son went from a hospital to a shelter I’m highly active in trying to help him but since he got to this shelter I’ve been told by the shelter to buzz off .Only police or courts are allowed conversation and it’s as if once they get to the shelter they,,,, don’t want a family memberinvolved ......So I asked had to ask an officer of the court to make contact and was told they confirmed to him that my sons there .Wouldn’t you think that if 400 homeless people are in a shelter & any of them had a family member saying I’m here let me help,,, that they’d WANT that? What’s going on ?
Stayed here in desperate times. I got chewed up by bedbugs most nights and railroaded by my “case manager” (some guy named Andrew who seemed to enjoy watching/making me fail). About a week ago they fired nearly every female in the building, and my “case manager” has also had it in for me. I’m now at their mental prison waiting to see if I’ll ever get out.
Great place an would love to work there also Im waiting for a ring back from my interview
Very good shelter . Clean, Well maintained, Feels relatively safe but use your street smarts just the same. Can stay at least 90 days which is generous Longer if working towards a goal
I left there because it made me feel like I was in jail didnt look like a clean environment so I felt I might as well stay in the streets imma go to a shelter that looks like you living in the streets
Its a good place to stay out of the street, not much problems unless you look for it...most of the time
Very helpful three hot meal a day and staffs are amazing, they do there job with a passion and I salute them because daily basis what they do its not so easy, from myself 2 thumps up
I love voa a life changing program if you surrender and having the willingness too put in some work.
I TAKE BACK EVERY NEGATIVE THOUGHT OR COMMENTS ABOUT THIS LOCATION...IM WRITING TYPING THIS WITH TEARS THE STAFF AT THIS LOCATION IS AWESOME AND DESERVES MORE THEN THEY GET BECAUSE THEY REALLY HELP THE HUNGRY, TIRED, WOUNDED, AND I HAVE SEEN PEOPLE COME IN HERE TALKIN TO THEMSELVES TO BEING NORMAL AND HAVING CONVERSATIONS WITH REAL PEOPLE YOU CAN TELL THIS PLACE IS SPECIAL
They really take care of you here. Great place for homeless that are down on their luck
This place is a non-profit nightmare. Noone cares about the people who come here for help. The staff are stretched to the limit with their workloads and dont seem to have the aptitude to deal with 200+ people on a daily. I DONT FEEL SAFE HERE!! Almost daily, someones cell phone, back pack or other personal items are stolen. Shoeers and restrooms are filthy and hep c/a contaminent. The food here is awful. Worse than what high school cafeterias serve and in some cases served after its sell by date has expired. Case workers are slow and laxed... if you can get one to even meet with you. As ive been here for over a month and havent been seen yet!! Since someone stole my bag I now have to start ALL over again with getting new ID, cal fresh/ gr ebt card renewed, new clothes, hygiene products, another cell phone, contact my bank to close out my account, etc., etc. This place is a den of wolves preying on the weak and down trodden. Something better has to be out there... Please lord, let me find a place better than this one. Ive only had set-backs here and no help!!
Kool, place to stay until you find your own home. Artemus Louis Thompson Nellson.
A good shelter with nice people who are willing to help . the only reason I did not give it a five star was because it needs an upgrade, an a.c to prevent germs other than that its good .. I say thanks to all
I called on behalf of an agency and the girl that answered the phone was very inappropriate and unprofessional. She was laughing the entire time while on the phone with me and transferred my call without my knowledge, leaving me to say numerous times hello, hello.
Well
