Athens is lucky the City of LA won’t let us change trash companies. Plain and simple Athens sucks at what they do. They do not come when they are schedualed and they try to overcharge by changing fees for no reason. To management at Athens this is the worst trash company I have ever dealt with, I hope you guys find a way to go out of business so we can get a real trash company, not this excuse for one.

This is the absolute worst waste management company that I have ever dealt with. To make the experience even better, Mayor Garcetti in his infinite wisdom gave this company a monopoly in my neighborhood, so I have no option. I am considering selling my home and moving to avoid Athens Waste Management.

Absolutely the worst trash company for apt buildings. Do not trust them with your credit card and DO NOT do the AUTO PAY for your monthly payments. They will charge you twice a month and overcharge you and will never correct their mistakes. The customer service is as bad as their service. Over charging is their normal way of business. We have a 20 unit building and half of it is empty and they still overcharge your credit card because they say the trash bin was very heavy. How can that be with a building that is 50% empty?

They need better, hard working people with good attitude. Everyone whom we came in contact with has been rude and careless. Its so sad to see such low grade workers.

This company is not ethical and money hungry. They will cheat you any chance they get and unnecessarily charge you for things other companies won’t. Once Garcetti lifts his requirement to make this area use it we will 100% terminate the relationship

This is what happens when government forces monopolies on people! Expect unknown exorbitant fees and just very poor service!

Unfortunately our company have no choice but to use Athens for trash services at our properties. We are ALWAYS having problems with their trash pick ups, very unreliable service, and bad customer service! Also, be aware that they make A LOT Errors in billing : duplicate bills, incorrect bills, they misapplied payments, and they make you pay late fees for their mistakes!

Never available, no fellow up with you,are not a priority.

NIGHTMARE, Athens is the exact definition of the I DONT CARE attitude. Its a shame that we as customer, are treated so poorly, with missed pick ups, no redo dates offered, a tone of trash let behind on the floor, rude drivers... I am over them.

The supervisor never calls you back. Their staff keeps leaving our trash door open even when I posted a reminder notice on the door. They too charge for over filled and no proof that it was.

Trash pickup They never return dumpster when collecting trash, leave bin in the street, skip days causing unhealthy trash overflow, and keep raising rates now over $800 / month for only a few condos !! The city allows this monopoly of unrestricted cost increases, fraud, and filth around our young children, and will not allow us to hire another company.

Charged for overweight. They cant provide proof that bin was overweight. It is just their word that it was overweight. Even if the bin is half full and lids close fine with just normal home trash (no stones, concrete, nothing heavy), they will still charge you for overweight because they can. They are a racket.

The city is responsible for creating monopolies is different areas of the city of Los Angeles and increasing rates 3 to 10 times what we were paying before this City Law went into effect. My propertys bill since Athens has taken over is over 3 times what I paid before and now they have added a distance charge, my family and I have never be charged a distance charge in the 55 years weve owned our properties. The monthly amount is now over 4 time what I paid previous to the city passing the Trash Hauling Law. Just another reason that the rents are so high in LA!

So upset that the city of LA assigned me to Athens services. I started a new business and they took two weeks to bring me a trash bin and when they did they did not come and pick up the trash weekly. Ive had their services for a month now and they havent picked up my trash. They say the same thing every time I call, that someone will come tomorrow from 6-6p and nothing. So tired of calling everyday.

Worst trash company ever! Expensive and unreliable service! Always have problems picking up our trash! We hate it!!

Since this company took over the service, price go up twice, Even price double hope service same or better than old company but no way. Service really bad. Can not change different company because they have contracts with city.

It’s extremely sad when a company will not take the incentive to do the right thing. They service some apartment buildings in the area and there is a lot of graffiti on some of them. I called the company to either paint or exchange of these containers. Their reply was the owner or manager has to call it in and there’s a fee for that. It seems like everything evolves around a dollar with this company. Take a look at the picture and notice how much pride they take! A good company would just take care of this! Their drivers who pick up the trash should report this and it should be done in a professional manner.

We actually had great service from them. Attentive and helpful. Maybe the new owners?

I have been trying to get the Solid Waste picked up for two weeks and they are giving me the hardest time, telling me it has been pick up. I can not get a Supervisor to talk to me on the phone. This is a horrible company to work with and seems like this is the only company I can work with for my office area which is worst to know. Trash business is a very tricky one.

Athens Services? They should cut the word Services from their name. It is actually Athens disservice...Garbage is piling up in one of my buildings. My tenants are furious. They want to call the department of health services to declare the area a health hazard!!!I dont blame them. Kids are running around near piles of garbage, Hundreds of flies are flying around and they surely carry diseases that can affect young children as well as adults.Just a reminder...These services are not free and not cheap. Worst of all, there is NO option. The city of Los Angeles gave Athens a monopoly and they take an advantage of it...Something MUST be done here. Its getting worse every day. We had to pay a private person to collect our garbage and pay additional fee!!!This is a disgrace.​

This company is more garbage in the garbage it picks up, also add to that grade incompetence and idiocy. What a disaster this place is run by monkeys

They are a monopoly who tripled our rates to line the pockets of the Los Angeles City Council. Service is horrible since Mike Bonin granted a monopoly to the detriment of Los Angeles city residents

For the last two hours(!!!) one of those red Athens Services dumpster movers has been shuffling containers back and forth on the street outside, going mostly in reverse!!! He has been beeping (beep beep beep beep) out there for nearly 2 hours, arranging about 12 trash containers for 3 complexes! Before Los Angeles forced this company on us, Consolidated Services performed the same job for over 10 years and they were usually done in 25 minutes. Not so this guy! 2hours and counting - beep beep beep beep nonstop because this guy does everything in reverse!!! Tell your drivers to drive forward and STOP this nuisance noise in our neighborhood!!!

I second the comment below - Athens provides spotty services while receiving full payment. Without competition there is no incentive for them to provide decent service. We have LA Mayors Office to thank for essentially doling out these monopolies a few years ago.

Have to the few times i had to call..im always had ome very helpful and they always do what they advised me that they would do.

If I could I would give them -5.Bad service, bad customer service as well.They have customer pay a late fee for their system failure. Absurd!!

This company is awful. They never pick up the trash in a timely manner. They should lose their contract with Los Angeles. Poorly run operation. Idiots working at this company.

Terrible company. Raises prices far to much because they are the only company allowed to pick up trash in Hollywood. They are always late picking up trash. Bad customer service. Bad company

Repeatedly pickup trash before 6am. Sometimes it’s been as early as 4:30 am. That is not legal and infuriating to wake up to.

They didnt pick up the trash for over 3 days. And the trashes is still on the side street. Even more dirty and smell. It happen like this 3-4 times already. And I’ve called them everytimes it happened and still didnt keep it up! I just hope that they would do it worth the money we pay every months!!!!

They damaged my vehicle and claimed it to be weather. Its their property that clearly hit my vehicle.

Very terrible and unreliable service. We are forced to have this terrible company to take our trash. FBI should look into this monopoly.

This is the absolute worst company of all time. Horrible customer service and careless drivers. They left me with a full dumpster for 2 weeks and I called every day to have them come pick it up and empty it out and eventually the driver just told the company he did it when he had not.

I wish I could give them ZERO at this moment. They missed pick up last week. I called to schedule a pick up yesterday and they didnt pick it up. I called again and I was promised the collection will happen today.

Horrible service into a dead end phone and wont pick up trash lies about it

First picture was before they came. 2nd was after. 3rd was once i bagged 3 bags of trash. Dumpster has wrong phone number.(Athens purchased but have yet to change the number on the Dumpster). Called and got no response several times.

They come to remove trash at 5:45AM. I called to complain that it isnt legal until 6AM. I have pictures with a time stamp. The woman (?) blew me off.

It sucks that they are the only ones assigned to pick up at 90020. City of Los Angeles lets get together and complain about all the Bill going up the double with them. They take advantage because no other company can pick up. Late pick ups, double bills get them out of our district.

The worst service!

Since the City of Los Angeles changed our trash service company to Athens we have been very very unhappy with their service. They have missed 6 pick up days even we called and told them no one came, and they told me a truck would be out. Never happened. Horrible, unreliable service.
