I took my cherished McIntosh MA5100 to Morris & Co at George Meyer at the recommendation of the folks from McIntosh and Im so glad I did. My amp was in working condition already, but being almost 60 years old and never having been checked, I was slightly concerned about its health.I took the amp in, was treated with respect even though this wasnt a crazy $30,000 amplifier or even something new and within a couple of weeks I got the Mac back and the results of the work are staggering. Its like Id been listening to music while under a heavy blanket. Everything is clearer and more dynamic now.Having something like this repaired isnt cheap, but you get what you pay for and having my amp serviced by factory-authorized techs feels like it was the right move. Id wholeheartedly recommend George Meyer to anyone with classic McIntosh gear. Im already thinking of bringing some other non-Mac equipment to them to have it looked over.

If you have audio and video electronics that you love, perform well, and are well engineered, at some point youre going to need a repair or maintenence. I value my equipment and have been a customer of George Meyer for over 35+ years. Whenever I visit George Meyer, Im treated like family by the owner, Morris, and his staff and the service is always on point. I just had my Nakamichi CR-7A tape deck and Sony CDP-X222ES CD player serviced and they both sound and perform like new! I highly recommend George Meyer for your next a/v equipment service or repair.

I took my Dual 502 Turntable to George Meyer TV & Stereo to see what was wrong with the Turntables speed jumping from 33 -1/3 to 45 RPM back in the beginning of December 2020. They charged me $80.00 for diagnostic testing, and after 4 Months, I got a call in the beginning of April 2021 from their chief of Technicians (Nels), who told me that they were able to isolate the problem, a bad Motor Pully, which he said, they were unable to locate anywhere, and so they handed me the Turntable to take home after taking my $80.00 for doing nothing! However, the fact was that all that I needed was a flat drive belt ($9.42 on eBay) that had gone bad,, which I went ahead by changing it myself, and Walla, the speed problem was actually solved! Basically I got ripped off by paying $80.00, because they misdiagnosed the problem. Just be aware!

George Meyer is one of the last great repair shops left in the city. Everyone there, from Morris at the front desk to all of the technicians in the workshop, clearly knows what theyre doing and cares that the work they put out is done right. Morris is a delight in person and on the phone - his attention to detail regarding the missing knobs on my machine truly speaks to his dedication to the repair craft. I had never heard my 45-year-old Sony receiver the way it was meant to sound when it was new, and I have no doubt that these folks brought it back to fantastic condition. Though the units full overhaul was a little pricier than I had intended at the outset, I believe it was fully worth it - and that it will now hold up for nearly another half-century. Thank you Morris & co. at George Meyer!

Do not go to this place. I had a new pioneer DJ controller that was still under warranty and they had me send it to this shop for basic repair. I shipped it out from the Bay to LA. I’ll spare the details, but basically they did not communicate with me and after 4 months they sent it back to me with the problem still not fixed! They also put large branded tape all over my new box, ruining it incase I wanted to resale. Bad experience.

I wouldnt even give these scam artists one star if I could do it. I took a vintage Reel to Reel Deck, an Akai GX-747dbx tape deck that Ive owned for 35 years to this company for a inspection and repair in June 2020 specifically of the L/R Tape tension arm mechanisms that needs to park in the down position when no tape is detected.ONE MONTH later in July 2020 they emailed me that the tape deck was ready so I picked it up, got it back home and they didnt fix the problem so I took it back and AFTER WAITING over 6 MONTHS, and after picking it up again in January 2021 the problem STILL isnt fixed.I was willing to be patient and wait OVER 6 MONTHS due to the COVID Pandemic and the problem of locating parts for a tape deck thats over 35 years old but they told me that had the necessary pats and could fix the problem. I even provided them with the Service manual myself yet after ALL THIS TIME and numerous phone calls and trips over there to inquire about the status of the repair THEY DIDNT FIX ANYTHING yet they charged me $670 just to change some blown capacitors.I suggest If you have a vintage Audio/Video component that you want fixed you DO NOT go to this place unless you want to go through what I went through and pay a lot of money for NOTHING

My father purchased a unit from this company. The company made blatant misrepresentations and refused to fully refund his money when the equipment failed despite several documents and back and forth communications with the companys representation stating that they would honor the warranty and refund his money. My father ended up sending the unit back (which was faulty). He deeply regrets supporting this business and we hope no other customer has to experience the poor scenario he endured in the purchase of his equipment.

Morris is awesome. I had sent my Old Pioneer A-80 to another repair company and after 9 months and several hundred $ later, I received the unit back in the same condition as I sent it. When I first spoke with Morris, I could tell he was very knowledgeable. He had my unit a little longer than expected but well worth the wait. The unit has worked flawlessly for over 6 months and he even fixed the green on lamp that had been broken for years. I would highly recommend George Meyer AV.

I have had George Meyer repair my audio equipment for many years and thought it time to give my 2 cents. They are the only quality high-end repair for audio equipment. You can find many others charging less, sometimes much less. But you always get what you pay for. Recently I purchased a used Mark Levinson 20 year old 30.5 DAC from an audio store in Florida (hard unit to find) assuring me his techs went through it and is perfect. Arrived DOA. He sent another he had. DOA. I could have returned for refund, but there was no other available. Took both to GM and they used the unit going back to, supply parts on the one staying. Got it back and returned the other unit so now my guaranteed 3600 unit is 4800. 2 weeks later a different problem arose, one of the 2 boards went bad, discontinued, out of luck. Morris purchased a non working unit to put the board in mine. He probably lost money on the deal, but he wanted to keep me as a customer. No one else would have done this. Now my 3600 unit is 5600, but it sounds ridiculous. Rene and Don are two of the best electronic technicians in the business, I know, because my customers are mechanical and electrical engineers. Everywhere else you are paying for a repair, at George Meyer you are paying for the knowledge they have to properly repair a state of the art product that most others cannot.

Good Techs...Not so good Business. For being an Authorized Service Center for Denon/Marantz, they came across as a hole in the wall repair center without a clue. The technicians are probably good, but the business is run like a zoo. If you are shipping your device in, make sure you keep the shippers receipt/tracking info. George Meyer AV misplaced my AVR and tried to say I never sent it in until I produced a tracking number proving delivery. Took a month for them to get their story straight. Now they are forcing me to pay shipping because they sent 2 AVRs piggyback strapped together, which became detached during shipping which then forced UPS to return to them and now they want me to pay $45 each to reship. Such an unprofessional experience... Ill be sending my future repair jobs elsewhere. Im also going to make sure everyone knows what I had to go through on a routine warranty repair. Had to call these people 30 times, sometimes getting a promised call back and sometimes not. I am super patient and polite and am not a complainer. This is a bonafide bad review on this company. Thanks for wasting my time and money George Meyer AV!

I dropped off our Marantz tt-42 turntable in June 2018 to simply have the dust cover and metal platter replaced...it is now November and in between these several months the following occurred:I never received an initial call or email to approve the repair cost, which needs to be done before they can begin work, until I harassed them for three months with phone calls. I then received two emails, because the first one was missing the labour cost, but approved both immediately. After a week or so I emailed asking how much longer the repairs were expected to take and was told that “We are waiting to receive parts, once parts are received our technician will follow through with completing the repairs on your turntable.”Another month goes by and I call to find out what is going on and because the guy who fixes the turntables isn’t there they can’t give me an answer but will call me back in a few days. They never call back. This happens twice more, in addition to my boyfriend calling asking about our turntable on three occasions himself. No one ever calls back as they promise. In fact they tell us in October that there was never a confirmation for the repair cost, which I had done TWICE in August! So they send another repair cost breakdown and there is a new addition to the repair pieces which jacks up the cost by almost $200. They claim that the power supply needs replacing but that was never the problem. Finally, two weeks ago they tell us that because they have been waiting for that power supply it is still not ready. We tell them that wasn’t even what we needed replaced.Today, 9 November, we finally just pick it up, unfixed - nope they didn’t even replace the platter or the cracked dust cover - claiming it couldn’t be fixed due to the repair cost exceeding the value of the turntable.I will never ever recommend anyone to this place nor will I never bring them anything of ours again.

Ive had an exceptionally good experience getting my Denon unit serviced under warranty with these folks. Theyre friendly, and are open about communicating the issue with my unit.It took about a month to get my unit serviced, this is because of an issue related to getting parts from Denon. They shipped it back to me in a AV unit sized box with extreme care! I loved how well the unit was insulated with thick bubble wrap and packing peanuts.Edit: Ive had my unit back for almost a 5 months now, and its working exceptionally well and the issue that had me sending the unit for repair has reoccured.Needless to say, if you live in the west coast, i would highly recommend George Meyer for any Denon related work.

George Meyer did an initial diagnosis over the phone and gave me a quote. When I got the invoice it was 50% higher and included a charge of $30 for additional materials. All they did was glue the knob back on my MX406. Not kidding. I emailed Morris, the owner, complaining about being charged way more than I was quoted and he replied, Enjoy your life! The problem persisted, of course, so I sent it back. The CD transport came back out of place so I sent it back again. I sent it back yet again since the original problem of the audio dropping out and coming back in still persisted. After spending $400 to fix my head unit, they then said the problem lies with the separate amplifier - as if to say it was obvious. I complained that I spent $400 to repair the head unit that WASNT defective and they stopped communicating with me.Rather than giving these jokers more money to repair the McIntosh amplifier, I bought a new one and will sell the defective one as-is to try to recoup some of my money. If they are the only repair center for your equipment, you might not have any options. But if you do, Id steer clear.

Scam - do not be fooled by the charming owner who glanced at my 2 receivers when I was dropping them off and deduced that i lived near the beach hence the rust. Was then charged $75 a unit to diagnose and not called back for 2 weeks. Finally I called and got a call back the next day from George informing me that his workers had spent 2 hours sanding the rust on my receivers before checking with him if they should continue and he instructed them not to at that point. I am expected to believe they actually spent hours on them before checking with him and deciding they were too rusted. More like they unscrewed the back and the decision was made. Didnt know my $150 dollars was worth your reputation. Lame!

If you have vintage audio gear, or just want a job done right, I cant recommend them more.I have a 70s Marantz reciever I bought from a pawn shop. It was hardly perfect when I got it, but it worked for a while. When the problems got to be too much, I took it to Geroge Meyer. After a week or so, they had fixed it to my satisfaction, but not theirs! The main technician convinced me to bring it back the following weekend for no additional charge so he could get it working up to his standards. It was worth it; its like new now. Excellent Sercice Center!!!Tech benches are properly equipped with evaluation, diagnosis, & measurement tools. The techs are all highly knowledgeable, and GMTS has many techs with equipment manufacturer certifications. They are an authorized manufacturer repair center for many brands. They back up their performance on repairs with actions, not empty words or unfulfilled promises. As is my case many times, I need it today. They have a time sensitive solution available. For a bit more on the bill, they expidite. GMTS has always performed stellar when I have asked for an expidited repair. As someone who is does know how to repair practically anything, finding a business that I can rely upon to perform stereo equipment service to my personal benchmark and satisfaction is very rare. These people are A+ in my opinion.Led by Morris, just an awesome human being in his own right, they get it right the first time, deliver on time, and you never feel like you got taken. If he says he replaced a part, they actually did.I have never had to return anything to them that didnt work when received back from service. It also always works properly & GMTS backs up service work with certifications, knowledge, and documented measurements.Rather than the usual service shop ego, hubris, and conjecture, GMTSs staff is helpful, kind, and understands your needs. They know the equipment you bring in for service is your personal treasure, and a highly annoying unplanned interruption for you. They make it as painless as possible. They are the real deal, I am a long term customer, and this review was not solicitated in any way. Great people should always get their kudos, thats all.

The head guy Morris is a big liar, never returns calls when he promises, bullshits all the time, (like claiming on the phone that he shipped out the unit to the manufacturer months ago, then Velodyne verified a month after the supposed shipping date that they didnt get it. I had to call Morris again, he forgot what he lied about two months ago and again promised to ship it to the manufacturer the next day! Finally about 3 weeks ago Morris told me that the unit arrived back fixed from Velodyne, they just need to run some test on it to be sure everything works,... Since then I cant get him on the phone; - he is always with an other costumer, on a conference call, out of the office, etc. Secretary promises he will call right back, but he never does! Why have Velodine these unprofessional and constantly lying jerks as an authorized service station is a big mystery to me.
