Great place, with great staff. The equipment is a bit old, sometimes bit dirty but still in great working condition. Lots of different options, and different sections to get your work out in. Everyone seems pretty friendly and will help out if you need help with one of the machines, or someone to spot you. There are two sets of bathrooms, a changing room, and a locker room. The showers are closed because of coronavirus.

I am so thrilled to be able to return to the YMCA. I was able to quickly sign my daughter up for several upcoming programs and I have the peace of mind that they will continue to be Covid Safe with the children. The facility is very clean and the staff is always friendly and helpful.

One of the worst YMCAs I have ever been too. If the equipment is not going to be maintained it just needs to be shut down, a waste of space in an already small town. From what I have been able to deduce, the staff must really hate working here.

A staff member was extremely rude and not understanding of accidents and masks slipping when you workout. I was mid-way through my set of weighted chin-ups when my mask fell below my nose. Before I had a chance to finish my last few reps or even get off the bar to pull my mask up, she came right up to me and started being very hostile towards me saying that it was, Absolutely unacceptable that I did not immediately pull my mask up when I was in the middle of a rep. Which is difficult to do mid-rep on a pull-up bar. After I told her I understood and was just finishing my last rep, she continued to say it was unacceptable and act hostile towards me. I proceeded to tell her that I was pulling it up as soon as I finished my last rep (I had already pulled my mask up once she started to yell at me). These sort of accidents happen while working out, and to not be understanding of that and to attempt to chastise me is extremely inconsiderate. I pulled my mask up right away after I was off the bar too. I cancelled my membership and will never go back. The rest of the staff was helpful and understanding though.

Way too expensive for the quality of gym. It is overcrowded, managers are rude, and the equipment/facilities are ancient. Needs major renovation

Manager was rude and basically would not refund my monthly membership after I told her I could not wear a mask to work out per the new governor rule. I cannot breathe. She told me she would cancel my member ship but not give me back my 50$ for the month of July which I have not used one day yet. They are money hungry. That is fraud! And I am going to report them to BBB.

The staff is the most unhelpful pretentious group I have ever met. The cost of the facility is extremely high for the equipment they provide. I have been going to the Y for years and have never been treated more disrespectful than I have here by two different staff members. Neither was helpful and it felt I was excluded for trying to join. I am a disabled veteran and would think more respect would be shown regardless of my service.

Greatly enjoyed our visit to the center. The front desk staff was very kind, the facility was clean, and exceptionally priced.

I enjoyed going to this small, closely knit community gym.

Not sure why this is rated so highly. We came from Kansas City and our YMCA there was cheaper and way nicer. I guess expectations are lower up here. We have been members of this YMCA for months and it’s time to quit. We had our kids signed up for rock climbing, which was fun, but the instructors didn’t even really help get the kids ready. I would describe the instructors as aloof. Today, we went to enjoy the “free” babysitting, but they wouldn’t watch our 8-year-old because the kids club hadn’t started. They said he could come with us to work out. Not true. The cardio room age is a minimum of 10 years old. We were not happy and it was the final straw. We cancelled our membership today. The problem is that the YMCA has no competition, so it can smell like feet and have nasty, old locker rooms and still get 4.5 stars. I wish a real gym would buy the old Smiths and just blow the YMCA out of the water. I just don’t understand were the membership fees go as the facility has not been updated in years.

It is a very small YMCA (no pool) but it has all the necessities! It has a cross training room, a gym, a weight section, racket ball courts. The Y does a lot to organize fun activities in the community and is a good place to go to workout.

I just used the shower for $4 as we were camping at Bandelier. The mens showers were the group kind like they have in prisons. There was a long paper work process the first time as well. Other than that it was fine.

Crowded on weight room and people coming to see their children playing basketball at the gym, one of the parents was giving snacks to the kids at the area where people are doing weights. Parents are taking on the small hallway there is no room for all the people, watching the game and trying to exercise.

The Family YMCA is the center for exercise and volunteers in and around Los Alamos. The Family YMCA hosts manages and runs a lot of trail maintenance, buetification, and creation volunteer programs for youths of college age to the middle school age. Almost every member of the healthy and job sustaining community of Los Alamos have gotten a membership here to exercise and build community bonds of surface and game.
