Glad I’m not the only one who gets a cold shoulder here. There is a younger female employee and a young male employee who are relatively friendly and responsive, but the older women in the store look at me more often than not like I don’t belong there. I called to ask about free spirit fabrics once and was treated like I was speaking alien. The hardest part is even my husband feels like he is looked at like they just wish we were out of the store already and he is a “people person”. I shop there when I can but I’m not a big spender…maybe that’s the problem 🤷‍♀️

They are always very helpful whether its answering questions about embroidery or helping us find the supplies we need.

I cannot recommend Sharman‘s sewing Center enough! A friend recommended I go there to buy my first computerized sewing machine. Mrs Sharman was absolutely patient, took her time explaining everything and was so friendly and welcoming to me and my family. She took time to get to know ME not just sell to me. What a pleasant experience. After buying my machine, the staff went above and beyond by scheduling an appointment for me the next day to explain and show all the ins and outs of working my new machine! They did not rush and spent almost 3 hours with me... made me feel welcome and encouraged me the whole way. I literally could go on & on... this is the best shopping experience I’ve ever had! Period! Highly, highly, highly,HIGHLY recommend!

My shopping experience at Sharmans was flawless. All employees were very kind and helpful. I would like to particularly commend Patrina. Patrina helped me to find the perfect sewing machine and cabinet to suit my needs as a beginner in sewing. She demonstrated several sewing machines and explained all the differences between each. She gave me her undivided attention despite how busy their business was at the time. I am very pleased with my purchases and looking forward to classes. Business was brisk with employees quick to assist everyone. The store is very organized and clean. Everyone is required to wear a mask, which is comforting. Everyone who assisted me was kind and efficient. I am looking forward to returning to purchase some of their beautiful fabrics. Again, a special thanks to Patrina. You are a great asset to Sharmans.

I had a delightful experience when I attended Club yesterday at your store in Longview! The workers were so nice....and knowledgeable. The class demonstration was excellent--very informative, practical, and applicable. And the lady presenting was ADORABLE...full of humor and fun! Thank you for a great morning! I can hardly wait for next months Club meeting!

They have sewing needs if you quilt. Theyonly have minimal sewing stuff for those of us who sew and make clothes and alter stuff. They only carry cotton fabrics and nofabrics to make clothes. Nice store and nice people overly crazy with masks over this pandemic.

The special thing about this store are the employees. They are especially great at helping you choose fabrics that go together.

I like the fabric selection and enjoy taking classes here. My daughter also enjoys taking classes during the summer and making new friends! I wish there were more classes on Saturdays and discounts. I tried buying fabric from an online store before and the quality was very poor, that is why I buy at this store where I can see and feel the quality of the fabric I am buying. The staff has always been very friendly so I keep coming back! Great quality, fabric selection and service!

Please, please please! Shop at Sharmans when needing a machine . Seriously. They know their stuff and are so helpful when in a jam and need help in a hurry. Have bailed me out more times than I can count over the last 30 plus years. They’ve helped in person and over the phone. Thanks again for the help yesterday😊. This is one of my favorite stores in Northeast Texas. The staff is always friendly and very helpful. I love their fabric selection, especially the Northcott brand. Everything you are looking for in one stop; from fabric and notions to sewing machines and classes, along with a ton of inspiration. Keep up the good job ladies!

I am NOT into sewing. The school I teach at has a 6 thread embroidery machine that no one knew how to use. Sharmans gave us another FREE lesson to a couple of us teachers. I then bought my second machine from them. The first is a basic Pfaff I have had for about 20+ years and still sews beautifully). I didnt do the free lesson (dumb me) because I now bought an embroidery machine and the lessons were FANTASTIC! I am so excited about my new, used machine and I feel Sharmans employees really want me to use and love my machine. (I know they will sell me supplies, but their inventory is georgeous!) I love this place, they are very helpful and a wonderful place for wonderful folks to help! Thank you so much.

Sharmans is a sewing store first and a quilt store second. If you are looking for a sewing machine in the Longview area, they have all the models for you to look at and learn about. The staff is very knowledgable about their products and helped us find out about compatibility of an older machine. They also have all the rulers, tools and notions that you could possibly need for sewing.They also have a section of quilting fabric that is quite extensive with some great colors. We enjoyed looking around the store and walked away with a couple of good finds including their Row by Row Shop Hop row.

I am a birth photographer and was in Longview awaiting a birth today. I am in no way a professional but I love to make tacked quilts for gifts. I stopped in this store to buy a layers cake bundle to make a fast quilt for my husband for our anniversary (later this week 😱). They did not have any bundles that I liked, but the one on one customer service was absolutely wonderful. A lady helped me pick my pattern. Another lady basically chose my fabrics for me after showing her a picture of the scheme I wanted....this was VERY helpful because Im terrible at picking fabric. You would think it would stop there ....but it didnt. The same sweet lady figured up how much material I needed, told me what size to make my cuts, and took me to her sewing machine to show me a neat sewing hack! EXCEPTIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! I went today to see about service on a machine today. I decided to look at new ones but not one person checked on me while standing there. That is not good customer service and I was told NOBODY saw me. I called back after I left to complain and was told SHARMAN wasn’t there. I knew she was so get her on the phone. She apologized but I still stand firm that a customer should be greeted when they walk in and ask how they can be of help! Not sure I’ll be back!

The last time I was in front of a sewing machine, I broke five needles, busted the pedal, and couldnt figure out how to do anything on it. Naturally, after such a bad experience, I swore of sewing, thinking I was just never going to figure it out.Jump to last month when I decided to give it another go. I went into Sharmas three times before I decided on a machine, and each time I was greeted with a smile, and good humor about my nervousness. Everyone made me feel at ease, and I was even allowed to practice on a machine I was considering before I bought it. When I finally made the purchase, they sat me down, taught me how to work the Pfaff, and even did all the paperwork for the warranty.I say head in if youre into sewing. I can barely call myself a novice, but there were people with all different skill levels talking and buying things every time I went in. Definitely a friendly atmosphere.

I am very disappointed! Walked all the way through the store today and not one person greeted me or asked if I had any questions. Very poor customer service.

Sharman and her staff are very knowledgeable and caring. They treat you like family.

I have been shopping and taking classes for close to 29 years from Sharman. The staff is like family and are always helpful and willing to help. I have purchased many machines from Sharmans over the years and always had great service. Also have had great service on machines that were not purchased there also. I can call with a quiestion on machine and get a quick friendly answer. Always a pleasure to shop or just go in and look to see what’s new to the sewing and quilting world. Sharmans is the best and most friendly place for sewing in east Texas.

We were traveling to see our son, and stopped at Sharmans as I had a question about my Brother Sewing machine. The store was empty except for one person having her machine repaired. The clerk at the store was so rude and unfriendly that I will never step foot in this store again. She accused me of wanting a free lesson, when all I wanted to know was if I was using my machine correctly. Pay for lessons, not from this company!

If you are a very serious quilter, this seems like a nice shop to go to. However, if you are looking to do something other than quilt or if you are new to sewing, the majority of the employees here will not take you seriously.I have been to Sharmans three times in the past couple weeks, and the employees have been rude to me all three times (including the owner of the store). The first time I went in, I thought that the person I dealt with maybe was having a bad day and I brushed it off. The second time I went into the store, a very kind employee (I unfortunately did not get her name, but she said she has not been working there very long) was willing to answer my questions about sewing machines and actually took me seriously when I told her that I was new to sewing but wanted to learn how to make clothes. Her kindness made me want to give the sewing store another chance. When another employee worked with me (who I later learned was the owners wife), I thought she came off as rude but was willing to give her the benefit of the doubt. Maybe Sharman teaches his employees to be rude to people who do not quilt, and this kind employee has yet to be trained to do that!Today I went into Sharmans for the third time and brought in my sewing machine that my grandmother gave me. Now, I know that this machine is not high quality, but I am new to sewing, so what do I know? I went in to the store to try to get an opinion on whether it would be worth it to get this machine fixed, or whether I should invest in a better sewing machine that would serve my needs. The man I worked with who does repairs laughed at my machine, ridiculed me in front other customers, and made me feel embarassed that I had even brought it in. After asking about how much it would be to repair my sewing machine, my goal for today was to then ask about buying a new sewing machine. The man told me that it would be about $100 to service the machine (probably the price that the machine was originally bought for). I left because I had had enough of this place.I called the store to complain about customer service, and I asked to speak with the owner of the store. Guess who I was dealing with the whole time? The owner did not apologize for his actions, but gave me an Im sorry it came off that way. He told me he hoped I would be back when I said I had been planning on buying a machine from them, and I assured him that I would not.I know that I am new to sewing, I am young, I am a woman, and I am not a quilter, but I do not think that means that the employees should consistently be rude to me. I will certainly not be returning to Sharmans, and unless you plan on buying an expensive machine from them, I suggest you dont bother to give them your service.

I have purchased two Baby Lock machines from Sharmans. Was given one on one individual instruction on both machines also they have wonderful maintenance professionals to take care of the machines I have purchased.
