Very caring compassionate staff! They gave us some dog food and loaned us a kennel for our precious fur baby! They really care about animals...would recommend highly!
This is a kill shelter. Please if you can keep your stray and find a home for them yourself it is preferable!!!I brought in a gentle, kind friendly stray dog. They kept him for less than 10 days and when two adoptions fell through they murdered him. I trusted them to find the best home for him and he trusted them to take care of him. I still remember his wagging tail and sweet smile towards the workers as I was trusting him in their hands. They also did not give me the transfer papers to sign explaining their policies. If I would have known the policy, I would have found a family for him myself instead of bringing him to this place.
I adopted 2 dogs from LACAC and the people there are so pleasant, the vets had done a good job on the spaying and neutering. I recommend this place every time someone is talking about wanting to get a pet.
Best adoption center i have been too. When you walk in, it does not smell like animals; it was extremely clean and welcoming. The staff is highly knowledgeable and take the time to help you decide on your forever pet.
Very clean facility and very friendly/caring employees. We fell in love with and ended up adopting a precious pit bull puppy. I want to give 5 stars but unfortunately we were initially misinformed by a staff member. We were told we could take him that day, but once we started the paperwork, we were told he wouldn’t be ready to adopt until the following week. No big deal and they were soooo nice about it, but we were sad to give him back for a little bit. Overall a great experience and would absolutely adopt from here again! Also, all dogs are spayed/neutered which is awesome!
*Amazing* caring staff and state of the art facility! Im a bit of an odd review, because I live in Indiana! My familys company made equipment for Longview so we got to see this amazing facility come together from scratch. It was built to help pets get adopted, and it is amazing. My dad was down working with Saylor and Dr. Prior, and he literally came home with a new member of the family, Pippi! (back right in the pic). I wish everyone knew the long hours these kind people put in. They work so hard for the critters and community.
Very friendly and helpful staff. My dog was in good hands.
Thank you for helping us find the newest member to our family
Very friendly staff, helped with pet food when I was in need.sweet pets to choose from.
The staff was really helpful and definitely caring about all the animals in their care. We were lucky enough to adopt Gabriel. We would recommend this shelter to anyone looking for a 🐕🐕🐕❤️❤️
Our puppy got out and was taken there. They took really good care of her until I could get out there. I had posted that i lost her and one of the girls commented they had a puppy that resembles her. If it wasnt for her I wouldnt have known where she was. Excellent staff very friendly and compassionate.
Due to covid we have a stray dog that we were wanting to take to adoption center, but they wont allow it without an appt.. And of course no one answers or calls back! Needless to say this dog will likely become a stray again bc I cant continue holding it in my yard, in hopes of being able to get her a home...
Very clean and roomy as you walk through to see the dogs. We were disappointed the puppy we had seen online was already adopted but happy she has a new home.
There amazing and have a free offer this month 9n some of the pets
Facility is clean and animals are well cared for.
Wonderful people, wonderful animals!! There are wonderful dogs there and a couple cats that need homes please come down
Really good facility very clean very well kept the dogs and cats seem happy and taking care of all looking for a wonderful family to stay with
The staff was extremely helpful and nice they animals seem to be happy and well taken care of I adopted two and I plan to do volunteer work for them in the future
The staff was great. Even if we were just looking.
Clean, friendly employees. Adopted an awesome puppy.
Longview Animal Control will lie to you about having your animals. I have proof and trying to figure out what to do about it. They got my Babies and had the info to call me and when i called after they went missing -they lied and said they were not there! Because someone frm there did send me a secret message & i didnt find the message on ph until 4months to late. Guess because im an older person & dont know special functions on cell ph. But they adopted out my 800$ cat....and only God knows what they did with the older one. They may have got him a home instead of putting him down. But i know God will get the ones who are wicked!!! Im SO HEARTBROKEN!
We got the most adorable new member to our family every one there was extremely helpful and nice
Very nice people.
One of the best experience ever....
The mission of Longview Animal Care is amazing. However, the staff does not treat people well who want to adopt. I am writing this review for a friend who I was with at the adoption Center. My friend turned in an application for a specific type dog . She was called today and told she was approved and they had the dog she wanted. She went to see the dog, spent some time with him and feeling a bond already, she loved him. Was already making plans and told children about bringing him home. Staff member told her she would need to bring her youngest child to meet dog first. She left to go pick up child. When she called to notify staff she was on her way back, they told her someone else was there to look at dog that if he didnt take him she could have him. They said they cant hold the dogs. WHY would you tell her to bring her child to meet the dog and get their hopes up, already fell in love the dog, then give the dog to someone else.?? All within a 2 hour time?? There are now very sad children who were expecting this special pet and a mom who is in tears.
Their all about the money not the animals! Horrible people there.
Great people always care about the animals and people they interact with
Have cute dogs, but went to visit to drop off gifts for pets
I rescued a kitten from the middle of a busy street. I didnt want to leave it there. But, right now I am unable to take care of her. She was so precious.
Wonderful, I hope we get to bring home the puppy we found.
We adopted our first pup from here today. The staff was knowledgable and the facility was clean. Every single kennel was meticulously kept after and the adoption process was a breeze. All adoptions were $25 including vaccinations and spay or neutering, some dogs were even sponsored because they had been at the shelter for so long. They asked a lot of questions and made sure that everything was a perfect fit. I will recommend to everyone and we really appreciate our new member of the family. Please give this place a shot, please adopt, dont shop.
Something not right with the numbers here. Claims to be taking in a very large number of pets each week, but only has a small handful available to check and see if it may be your lost pet. You only have a very small time period to claim your pet and they only allow you to see a very small number of pets taken in. Most of the pets not claimed are released to rescue shelters who have the pets on their wanted list and then sold for a nice profit to new owners... amazing...
Found a husky and had to take him here, the people were very nice and understanding.
Friendly, knowledgeable well trained staff
My baby was mistakenly put down by Longview animal and adoption center. We adopted her out but the owner’s wife did not like her so they took her to the Longview “no kill” shelter. I called 3 times and my partner called once to ensure she would still be there for us to pick up when we were back in town but they put her down anyway. I am heartbroken. She was a wonderful girl. There was no reason for this. This is why I was trying to rehome her instead of take her to a shelter. Just a reminder to please find another home for your pet and never use shelters.
Great people as and really clean
They sure did help Brownir
Answered all my questions, were very helpful and friendly. Bldg is meticulous.
I was very disappointed with this shelter. They did not have hardly any dogs. The kennels were all very dirty & disgusting. In the cat section the cats & kittens that had a collar on was way to tight. I have been to several kennels in different towns looking for a dog & this one is the worst.
Wonderful staff easy adoption process
First class facility.
This place is absolutely wonderful to our community and surrounding areas by taking in unwanted and stray animals. Dr. Prior & all the people that work there, Chris Kemper Sailor Knox and all the people up there are. Just Wonderful, thank you for giving your time for the animals and thank you also for always giving to the community for those in need. Help with dog and cat food is so awesome and is so help for some people and I just want to say Thank you, Because You Dont have to do it. You guys are Great. You all have been a Huge Blessing Here 💗
We adopted Molly from them. We took Sadie our Labrador to find a new friend. Everyone was very nice and inviting. They were upfront about Molly who has heart worms but is in recovery but we decided to take her on anyway. Awesome experience !
Everyone Ive dealt with has been more than pleasant and informative. I was looking for a dog last summer and the one I had picked out didnt quite fit my lifestyle, so the girl suggested another dog. I wasnt too sure about him, but hes been the best dog Ive ever had, and may ever have. Thank you!!!!! Amazing establishment. You can tell they take care of the animals and the cleanliness of the facility.
My puppy got out of the fence and I was heart broken. They found a post to where my dog was missing and found a way to get ahold of me. The Next Day!!! They took such good care of him and made sure he was up to date with all his vaccinations. So happy to have my baby back and to know he was in good hands during his little Adventure from home.
Very clean, nice staff.. go adopt or foster they need fosters
Only giving one because I took a very sick kitten up there to give to them, when I handed her over to them they said she was not sick at all. But she couldn’t stand up on her owe or keep her eye open. She also couldn’t walk far with out falling over.
Great facility and even better staff. They take great care of all the animals.
The staff is very polite and truly just wants to see the animals go to good homes. Facility is always clean and website stays up to date on strays and adoptable pets.
Went and met a dog today and ended up adopting him. The staff went above and beyond to help us, made sure everything was lined up for us and was super patient and informative. Super clean place with loads of adorable little animals. Definitely recommend for those looking to adopt ❤️
Great place to take a pet and adopt a pet
The lady who helped us was very professional and nice to the stray cat we turned in. She was very sweet to the cat. The entrance was very clean. Due to someone being very cruel we were so glad we found someone with promise of a good home for the baby we took by. Thanks for being there for us.
The staff here are so professional and extremely helpful! My family and i went to rescue and older dog. It was like going to a neighbor youve known forever. So friendly and a very nice establishment also. This is a good thing Longview has done. Thank you
Ive been to the shelter a couple of times.....looking for a new fur baby. They have done a great job with building design .....keep it exceptionally clean....and the volunteers and workers all seem like genuinely nice people who are there for the right reasons. The people of Longview should be proud to have such a well run facility in their area.
Amanda and the rest of the girls up front awww so so so so nice. They really seem to care. I just moved here and they were helpful in finding me the vets around the area as well. Ill definitely be back. Please donate to them. The animals will surely be appreciative.
Absolutely adore this staff. Everyone is so sweet, involved and understanding. The customer service before, during and after is impeccable. Highly recommend!
The place in Longview to adopt your next pet! Its a wonderful facility thats large, airy, and clean. The animals are all well taken care of and I would love to take them all home if I could.
I really don’t care who this hurts in the long run, I really want to give them no stars because I have a kitten I can’t take care of I have no job, I had him for a month now and once me and my husband took him to the pound, the lady asked my husband if he had his drivers license but he didn’t so called me to come inside to give them my DL, but by the time I got in there they said it’s an 100$ surrender fee and they couldn’t take him, Me and my husband are trying to do the right thing here and try to give him a new home that can actually take care of him and we can’t do that because we have to pay money to put him In the pound, it seem like you have to lie for them to take them in and actually do something. But me reading these reviews I’m NEVER GOING BACK THERE AGAIN! All they want is money!!!
I gotta say, this is the cleanest, friendliest animal adoption center Ive ever visited. Which isnt saying a lot, I guess, since I havent visited many, but still. If and when I adopt a pet, this is where Ill come. And I hope I can find a pet as adorable as the dog who wanted to play fetch with everyone!
Euthanized innocent squirrel for fun, didnt have too the baby squirrels were still baby and still had life
Nice people. They really care
Employees friendly place was clean
Living with two rescues from you and we’d like to add a Yorkshire Terrier. Preferably a puppy but any age is considered
Visited this location due to an event. The staff were such lovely people! Unfortunately we are not able to adopt at this time but we will be making this a regular stop for donations. Wish we could save them all!
We adopted our Tootsie from this place. Friendly staff, and they made the adoption process easy and stress free. Tootsies is a joy! We are blessed to have her! Thank you!
Took three abandoned by mother kittens two day old to the shelter to be fostered and taken care of. Very gifted breed. Easy to train.Animal Care and Adoption Center 303 H.G. Mosley Pkwy. Longview, Texas 75604 903- 297-PETS (7387) Email Business Hours
They were kind and helpful to what I had 2 do with my sister dog
Angels... Doing Gods work
I manage an RV Park and occasionally some worthless pieces of poop drop off animals at our park! I am an animal lover and hate when people do this! Longview Animal Care is always so accepting of this sorry situation when I have to take animals to them! I love this place and all the employees there! They are all so nice and welcoming and very helpful! But People, please dont abandon your animals somewhere... you can take them here and pay a $50 rehoming fee! And your animal will get rehomed and not be on the streets!!! Thanks for everything yall do! :)
Absolutely, the Best folks working here!! Clean Place, They Love Animals and provide the Best care .
Very nice people here.
Best place to get pets in east texas.
I am sure this place does good work for the animals they keep but they will lie to you as well. They will manipulate the price of a high demand dog though, this one doesnt meet the memorial day special price even though you are looking at the ad. They also will mislead you about the availability of an animal to redirect it to another adopter. No need in that. This center mishandled a transaction with my wife badly, leaving her in tears. I know these guys are the kings of their kingdom and play God with the animals they have. Stay away from this place.
Beautiful place, doesnt feel like a city shelter. Please go and take home a friend!!! Great staff! They took great care of the homeless doggo that we adopted and who is now a valuable family member. Thank you for that!!!
They nit pick about every dog that I have picked out. I don’t know what kind of people they have working for this place but they’re obviously all too stupid to realize that when you have a dog cooped up in a cage for so long of course they’re gonna be scared at first when they meet new people and/or go to a new home so I don’t know what they expect. I just wanted a medium sized dog for me and my kids. I went back to pick out a dog and they started doing accusations towards me and then denied me getting any dog and the funny part is my husband is the one who applied for the dog, not me. But that’s ok because I saw one of the guy employees hitting Courage with the leash as I was leaving yesterday because Courage snapped at him and then I saw a dog cut up really bad on the leg today. So someone please tell me this is animal abuse!!
Best experience. We found it clean all the time and the staff is amazing. We found out forever dog because of them. Thank you all.
Very professional and show genuine concern about the animals!
Nice place, very clean. But, I drove over an hour away to adopt a stray cat and was denied because I want it to be indoor/outdoor. They would not let me adopt because the cat would not be full time indoors. My family is leaving disappointed because we wanted to give a stray cat a loving home. I wish they would post on their website that the cats need to be indoors only and take “outdoor” and “indoor/outdoor” off their application.
I found a lost kitten in the brush while working and they took her in..hope she gets a good home
State of the art facilities and more like a hospital than a pound. Get you a friend for live.
Very, very professional and clean really nice staff they take time and let you visit the pet your interested in and tell you the history of the pet.
Very helpful and friendly. Super easy process got to take our baby home the same day
A wonderful, well laid out adoption center. Excellent care from caring workers.
They were very helpful by taking good care of my lost dog that was recovered by animal control.
They do an amazing job btinging pets anf people together
Unfortunately there werent any small dogs, & quite a few less than expected to adopt. Place is clean & nice, & Im glad there werent too many animals, but there site said they were overflowing, so not sure what that was about.
My family and I have adopted many pets over the years. From kittens, cats, puppies, dogs, and right now we have an amazing dog that had her back leg amputated after being hit and was HW+ when we adopted her. We have plenty of land and treat our fur babies like our children.Where I come from, you treat people with respect and compassion. Unfortunately, I do not think the animal control officer was brought up with the same values. After informing him that I was willing to foster and adopt two dogs and inquiring as to the status of my application, he began talking down to me and told me that I was going to listen to him and stop talking.I submitted my applications to foster and adopt, they informed me that my little Yorkie (also a rescue) needed to be fixed or my application would be denied. Immediately, I called his vet and made an appointment for him for the following business day. He is now fixed and doing wonderful. However, even after following all their requests/demands, I was still denied for two different dogs!Furthermore, I thought once you submitted an application and you were approved, that was it. This is NOT the case. I was also told that I have to submit another application for any other puppy/dog I am interested in. But they will keep my application on file for 30 days. So I wonder which is the truth?Good people get turned away trying to help animals. Unfortunately, like many things today, this has become a mess. And at the end of the day, big donors are not the only good people in this beautiful city.
Great friendly people. The shelter is very nice and clean! I would defiantly adopt an animal here.
