Great place to work out. Instructors are very knowledgeable and are willing to work with anyone who shows up and puts in the effort. Im a seasoned martial artist in another more traditional discipline and the instructors have been incredibly patient and helpful as Ive worked hard to adapt to a more relevant self-defense fighting style. I cant say enough good things about Roli, Matt, TJ and Boris; these guys know their craft and are eager-dare I say excited-to pass it along to anyone whos willing to put in the work. Give it a try; Ill be shocked if you dont love it.

I came from San Diego and knew someone at the gym. They welcomed me with open arms. Bunch of high level BJJ artists here. Many black belts, many tough purple belts, and really cool Professors. I haven’t trained that hard in a while. This gym has it all. If you are in the Little Rock area, you should train here.

6 out of 7 (ages 16-5) of my kids train at Westside and they provide great training for all ages and interest levels. The coaches are amazing and do a great job of challenging the kids who are passionate about Jiu jitsu, as well as offering fun opportunities for my little guys to start working on the basics. Everyone can learn and participate in a way that fits the individual!

Westside is a great gym. Ive had the honor of training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with Coach Roli the few times I can get down to the Little Rock area. Everyone, from the instructors to the front desk to the students, are all incredibly welcoming. They were very fast at getting back to me when I asked them questions, both using their websites contact us feature, and their Facebook page. Their class schedule fit very well with my work schedule to where I can get here early enough to change and prepare for training. And the visitor prices we discussed were very fair. If youre visiting the Little Rock area via Camp Robinson, like I do, and you train in either a striking or a grappling art, you need to train here. If youre a local looking at joining a great gym to learn some excellent skills and get a solid workout, you need to train here.

I visited Westside for a Pimenta seminar about two years ago. I was so impressed with the coaches and the team that I signed up shortly after. Its made all of the difference in my journey. The coaches are passionate and have created a team full of very talented and technical people. There a ton of people training during normal class hours, but you can always count on people putting in extra work too. Cant imagine training anywhere else!

We travel 1.5 hours for my 6 year old son to train jiu jitsu at Westside MMA. He has won multiple grappling competitions this year. I highly recommend letting your kids try jiu jitsu and bringing them to Westside. In my opinion this is by far the top jiu jitsu gym in Arkansas. They have numerous black belts and a wealth of knowledge.

I trained with Matt and Roli back in 2006. I quit training for about 10yrs.. when I got back into Bjj, I knew there was only one place I wanted to train. It truly is like a second family. Do yourself a favor and just try one class. Youll be glad you did... Tony

Instructor teaching MMA classes at night has predjudice and disdain towards those that have little formal MMA experience previously even though could be good potential candidates in the future. Didnt allow me to workout but instead told me to watch the rest of the class. Will not be returning save your money very thankful I used a trial and only lost a few dollars.

Awesome gym! The first time you try something new like a MMA gym the atmosphere can be intimidating. From day one! Every member (staff or training partner) is willing to answer any questions you may have about the program and they can help you achieve whatever goals you set for yourself. Not only do you learn boxing, kickboxing, Jiu-Jitsu, and self defense from this gym you can also learn life lessons. Through Jiu-Jitsu I have seen people lose up to a100lbs, overcome anxiety, and overcome claustrophobia as well. As you start to become stronger, healthier, and more energetic it makes you more confident to achieve other goal in life.

I’ve worked with the coaches at west side for about three years covering the last decade so I know them pretty well. They have built a phenomenal team, but also care about each persons personal growth. I was beside Coach Roli when he made it to the ufc and he never got an ego or stopped putting in the work on the mats with his students every day while leading the way for mma in Arkansas. I see the same qualities in Bryce when he is teaching no gi today. If you want to learn from actual Ufc fighters, who care that you actually learn, than west side is the only place to go. Coach Matt, somehow, smoothly transitioned from fighting to blending fun teaching with actual technical boxing teaching. I don’t kickbox anymore so I haven’t worked with Coach Borris, but he seems to possess all of the qualities that Matt does when he teaches the boxing classes. Coaches TJ and Mitch do phenomenal jobs with the kids and, as a whole team, there isn’t a greater collection anywhere of colored belts to learn from. I’m a better grappler after every class because of the people in the classes, from the white belts to the teachers. Everyone wants everyone to succeed.

After training in MMA since 2010 I have finally found my home gym. The techniques taught and the charisma and characteristics of the people that train everyday beats any other place hands down. The vibe you get as soon as you walk through the doors will reassure your decision of the right place to pour in your hard effort, sweat and tears. After every class you are guaranteed leaving the mats feeling like a better more accomplished person than you were before stepping foot upon them. The love that carries over outside of the mats into your everyday life where you make not only new friends but also inherit a new family. The level of respect and appreciation these brothers and sisters share for one another is truly a showcase for MMA. -Raven N.

I signed up for a cliché New Years resolution and WOW!! I am really liking the Kickboxing. I hit the morning classes sometimes but mostly do the 6:00 kickboxing. I really like that they have Borris and Matt both teaching so that as a beginner, I dont feel overwhelmed. Since its a lot of fun and I want to learn self defense, I will DEFINITELY be sticking with this work out. Havent been bored yet!

I was visiting Little Rock for a week and I got a couple rolling sessions in with these guys. The instructors there were very friendly and helpful, and I learned alot in the short time I was there. Ive been to more than a couple different bjj gyms across the US and this place is up there with the best, especially in terms of skill level and dedication. If I lived in LR Id train there every day.

Instructors very knowledgeable. Teammates are supportive and adjust to any skill level. The training area was large, a good teambuilding atmosphere. It is not a 5 star for two reasons. Bath/locker room was horrible. Dirty, disorganized, only 3 lockers and the sink is broken. Yes, I understand people dont come here for the bath room however, there should be some sort of minimum standard. Second is that the startup cost for beginners is too high. $ 99 Registration fee, $149 a month, $100 for a Gi if you dont have one that is $348.00 just to get started. They should have a better introductory rate for newbie’s.

Very glad that I gave Westside MMA a chance. I quickly learned that the coaches here really care about their students as far as helping them reach their full potential and improve not just in fitness and martial arts but in life. I feel very fortunate to be a part of this gym and I am very grateful for all it has done for me. I am also very happy to see and learn how successful this business has become and I am very proud for the people that have made this gym what it is today. There is no other full-service MMA gym in Little Rock or surrounding areas like Westside MMA.

If you’re in Central Arkansas and are interested in martial arts, mixed martial arts, self defense, or just getting in a good non-traditional workout, Westside MMA is THE place to do it. Roli and Matt have assembled a world class team of instructors and have done an excellent job of creating a friendly, supportive, unpretentious atmosphere that makes training there an absolute pleasure. I’m a fifty-something empty-nester who went mainly as a change of pace from treadmills and exercise bikes. It’s pretty cool to be a beginner training alongside men and women ranging from beginners to professional fighters. It’s also pretty cool how even the biggest, scariest guys in the gym are so friendly and supportive. If you haven’t met Boris, you need to. If you want to compete in martial arts, this is the place to be. You’ll find the best fighters and coaches in the area who will push you and help you maximize your potential. If you just want to get in a good workout in a friendly, supportive place that will make you feel at home, this is the place to be. Roli and Matt have great attitudes, and youll be surrounded by training partners who follow their lead.
