This is a terrible gym. They rejected my daughter all because of her age!! How discrimitory. I’m incredibly mad. Don’t go to this gym!!
This place is bright and clean. The instructors are very nice and really good with the kids. The one thing that is a bummer is that you cant stay and watch. You can stand outside and watch thru the window.
The coaches at Apex are good and seem to care for the kids on their teams. Communication as to the status of each child could be better - after a year we have yet to hear anything from the coaches as to how well our child is doing .The administration of Apex is not very good. If your child is on one of the teams, you’re expected to go to a minimum number of meets per year. If you decide for your child not to attend any meet that falls on a practice date, there are no make-ups and no credit on the monthly fee. Generally, whatever concerns we have brought up with the front office are answered in reasonable time, but with a marked “take it or leave it” attitude that lacks any empathy. I suppose they have enough business, since they’re one of the few good gymnastics places in the area, so they don’t need to worry if someone is unhappy with anything they force on families. Communications with short notice changes are also not that great and frequently lack important details.
Going on 3 years and my daughter loves it just as much as when she started
Apex has been fantastic during the pandemic. Going on walks around the neighborhood is a nice activity for families these days, but it’s not enough for my active gymnast. She loves the at-home Apex classes via zoom. Her older sister who is not a gymnast also participates, and warms my heart that they can do this together. This is a tough time for everybody, and Apex has dealt thoughtfully with this unique situation. I appreciate their positivity, flexibility, and problem-solving. After reading all of the reviews on this site, I can say I have had very much opposite experiences of those who were disappointed. My daughter has been at Apex for four years, and they have always been professional. When the front desk is not attended, I don’t consider this to be a problem because they are very responsive to my emails. All of her coaches have been kind to us and our daughter, giving us helpful feedback. They model and teach her how to be hard-working, respectful, cooperative, and tenacious. I’m really grateful for their influence on her not only as an athlete, but as a person.
During the tough times, like now with businesses forced to be closed, Apex Owner and management immediately switched gears to offer a Zoom conditioning and workout program to members. No fuss, just join. My gymnast daughter has been as committed to this as to the physical gym practices, and it has helped with the isolation. That flexibility and business acumen makes Apex a favorite for us.During normal times, the program is clear, regimented, and focused on development of skills, with low pressure performance, but recognition and pride for accomplishment. The periodic open house sessions allow you to try the program with your child, before committing.
I take my 2 yr old daughter to the Parent Child classes and she loves it. Good way for her to learn structure in a group setting. Pleasant times had by all!
My children love Apex! I have been bringing my children to Apex since we moved into the area and I highly recommend. We have done birthday parties, camps, and many continuous gymnastics classes and all have been enjoyed.
Apex was always willing to accommodate my daughter when she was injured this year. The coaches really went above in showing her that they were concerned with her wellbeing first over her competing. During this pandemic I’ve been really impressed with how they choose to handle the situation and make sure that families new they could stop payments if needed and no questions asked.
Best place for boys gymnastics!!! Girls too, but its hard to find people who know boys well, and they do! The place is clean, cared for and like family, all the kids love it!
A great gym! Our little one at home has learned so many great skills and she loves her gym!
We love Apex. Our daughter has been attending Apex for nine years. Most of the same coaches when we started there are still there today! We have found Apex to be very flexible with two practice times for our daughters team for those kids who get out of school late. The staff is also very responsive to emails. We highly recommend Apex for gymnasts of any skill level.
Terrific environment for children to learn and excel in their skills and love of the sport. Owner/Operator runs a tight ship and programs are well-organized, with excellent parent/athlete communication. Based on my experience in the past decade, this is by far the best for tumblers in NOVA.
Most of the coaches are fine but this one coach, Laurel is so rude she has threatened to kick a gymnast off the team for making a simple mistake on a skill everyone was doing also she makes girls do so many basics to the point my child comes home with a headache and achy knees, shoulders, arms, etc. By the time they start tumbling they are so tired to tumble from the constant basic skills they have to do it screws their tumbling up and that is very dangerous. I understand that these skills are important but when it comes to the fact I hear my child talking about how the girls want to kill themselves it becomes very concerning. Also, this makes my child disinterested in a sport I pay a lot for. I hate seeing my child lack interest in a sport she loves dearly because of one coach
We have been customers for 7 years.
Took my 3 year old for class and he just wasnt ready--very upset and did not want to participate in the chaotic atmosphere. I think he may be ready in another year. I explained this to the gym and they said I would still need to pay for an additional month since the drop enrollment notice must be given on the first day of the next billing cycle. So after one class when it just didnt work, I have to continue to pay for 2 months. Even when he is ready for this type of activity we will find another gym- this business is not friendly for young children wanting to try things out in a positive and pleasant atmosphere. I recently enrolled him in another activity and the policy at the business is to not sign a contract until the child really shows they like the activity-they allow 2 weeks free and a two month trial before you sign a contract or have to pay for additional months if you cancel. Hope Apex can remember what it is like to have small children and keep them happy so they want to continue activities--suggest they relook their business approach.
Great my daughter loves it its amazing
The owner is offensive and rude! The first coach that was present for the first class was great with the kids. The other coaches at this Apex facility are terrible and DO NOT work well with toddlers! They lack customer service and there is no one at the front desk to greet or answer questions! Save your money and find another facility!
My daughter and her friends hate it here. Barbara doesnt let the gymnats practice on skills that they are not good at. She also separates best friends so they dont have fun. Putting best friends together makes the students want to come back each week. Barbara and Brett treat different gymnasts differently and they didnt do anything wrong. He doesnt help gymnasts master a skill. He just says ok and moves on. Barbara is a terrible influence to my child. She accuses my child of not practicing at home. She is a terrible coach alongside Brett.
This is the WORST! everyone is so rude and the equipment in dirty. definitely not reccomended
Great for all ages. Our 2-year-old daughter had so much fun that our 10-year-old son asked to take classes, too.
The coaches are mean to certain kids and its not fair because the kids never did anything wrong
I was just asking about the program
Coaches are mean. Would not let me take pictures of my daughter during her award ceremony. Owner was not helpful when my child got threatened by a parent.
One of the best gymnastics gyms in the area.
We love Apex!
