If I could give them a negative number I would.Ive been calling them for 17 days cause me and my daughter are homeless. I talked to them before this and they said they would help me as soon as I became homeless. Today they said they didnt have the funds to help. But 17 days ago when I started calling they did. Then rubbery hung up on me. I wasnt being rude I just stated that Ive been trying to get ahold of them for 17 days
You guys need to do a better job of not giving out spoiled food! Cans that are 10 years past expiration, bulging, hissing, are not okay to eat! Neither is something like a large bag of pancake flour that’s opened and has rodent chew marks on it! I get that you can’t verify origin, but you could at least check things over before giving it out to people who have nothing else. The family I give a ride to can’t survive on things like that! If you wouldn’t eat it, what makes you think someone else wants to??? THIS IS NOT A ONE TIME OCCURRENCE!!!! It’s not just a couple of items-it like half of what this family receives!!!
This place is great in your time of need! You just pull up and they give you a shopping cart full of groceries which you just load in your vehicle. The people are so nice and welcoming! Dont forget your ID! The fist time is ok w/o your ID but you will need it and the application that they will give you for the next time around!
Just want to say Thanks to every one there. You dont know how much it helped us out this month with food.🥰
They helped me in my time of need. I am very grateful for the service they do in our community. They have made the process easy with curb side pick-up. The person who helped me was kind and professional. They were very generous as well. Thank You!
Everyone has their down times some of these good people take the time to put together a basket full of groceries for there patrons. Everything from canned goods, toiletries, meats. You name it! you need to go to take care of your family do what you got to do. dont be afraid to get the help you need if youre struggling to feed the ones you love.If youre able to donate to the cause you can reach out to the director for a scheduled time and you can even get a tax write off if thats something you would like to request.
I gave a neighbor a ride. They are excellent when it comes helping people in need. Good Job !
Took my donation on their day off on Monday. God bless them.
Such helpful and caring people, restored my faith in humanity in a time that I was loosing all faith. Was passing through Layton, I knew no one and I was down and out. The staff, in particular JR Rodriguez, were so patient and understanding and helpful. I am so blessed to have found Open Doors. Thanks to them I am on my way to a brighter future.
Without a Job, This Place is So Badly Needed!
Very helpful and kind
This food bank is awesome. You can pick out the food you want. The employees are respectful and kind. I am grateful that I have a place to go to when I am in need ☺️
This place is a great place to get food
Nice staff...
We came here to donate some food and I wish we couldve afforded to bring more. Im amazed at what food these guys get, but I know its probably not enough for the high demand these days. I think its fantastic that organizations like these are even around to help serve those in need. Thank you for ALL you do!
This is a good place to go to get food, utilities and acquiring housing help. They keep in touch and work on some things while helping you help your self effectively. Hood people. J R was particularly helpful.
I have been trying to get assistance here for rent and utilities since April and to no avail. And 211 seems to only offer services through the LDS cult which I refuse to be affiliated with. So not much help in Davis county.REPLY TO OWNER: I couldve said MORE but I was trying to be nice. There may have been a high NEED but your staff member in charge of that department- not mentioning any names- should have said so in the BEGINNING instead of leading me to BELIEVE I could get assistance, which is what she did.
Great resource place for food and service hours also they help with filing taxes. Very nice staff enjoyed volunteering here.
Great place. Very helpful. They allow you to get food once a month, and bread every week. Its the local food bank, and more, im not sure how much they offer, but there is assistance in housing, employment etc...
I worked with Jordan over this last 6 months and he is amazing and very honest and doesnt it feel you with stuff thats not true tells you how it is its great because theres no reason you should think its all to be great just because youre working with open doors and I just started working with Emma initial impression of her is she nothing but great things to say about the family connection center now open doors anybody having struggles in life and that can get help from any other resources I would strongly recommend to go up there and see what help you can get their amazing people and you are treated like a human being instead of something youre not
This place loses your information regularly. Every time I come in, they say my file is incomplete. They close early also. Do not trust their posted hours. The people that run things here are rude people lacking compassion. If it were a choice I wouldnt come here, but unfortunately, Im in a difficult position and I HAVE to put up with the way they conduct business. I spit on Open Doors. Shame on you.
Good people and excellent selection of goods. When you are in desperate need of food. Go there.
I went to volunteer on my own time and had to continuously ask what I was supposed to do. They probably wouldnt need so many people to volunteer if the people who are considered in charge did something other than stand around and talk. I also needed to remind them that I was there volunteering because I wanted to, not because I had to. I do not recommend volunteering any of your time here, find another program to get involved in. If any sort of management is reading this, I highly suggest you change things around.
The staff are very kind & helpful here especially JR in the back who gladly recommends the locally grown & donated fruits and vegetables for the patrons to enjoy... Thank you!
I understand that theyre limited on the $ that theyre given to assist in resources for the needy. But I think that they should have advertised that they only have only a set amount of Rental Assistance Vouchers for each month so that you dont waste your time going down to the office only to be told that they dont have any Rental Assistance
Practically worthless. They told my mom she could only come on a Tuesday, so okay. We called to get the hours which were 9-12, 1-4 since they apparently need an hour lunch. So we show up at 2:45. The doors are locked. The hours on the door say 9-4. Buuuut...its 2:45. There are cars in the parking lot and they dont respond to knocking. We ask someone leaving the building. They say that they ACTUALLY close at 3:00 and lock the doors at 2:30. So my mom has to wait another week to eat. I guess next Tuesday well be camped out at the doors right at 9:00 sharp.
These people at this office are the kindest, most genuine people. They take an interest in ur life and they really do their best to make a difference.
I started my career as a Student Intern at Family Connection Center. I was able to assist several individuals, couples, and families. I enjoyed the opportunity to serve others.
I wouldnt say my experience was good or bad. I went there to see if I could get help paying my rent but you have to be homeless before they will help you which I dont think is fair because Im trying to not become homeless. I was referred to another agency to see if they could possibly help me instead.
They was very understanding and have lots of good food and staff
Staff is awesome and doles out compassionate, responsive care. I love all these guys. Their heart is in what they do. You can tell. My county, Davis, needs to know our food bank is inaccesible to families and individuals that dont have a car! Its way too far from any bus route and not within walking distance to make it feasible for a carless person to get there then back home with food. Thats why the 3 rating. Staff is great!
WARNING! USE OPEN DOORS WITH CAUTION!!!!They will make false child abuse allegations to DCFS!!!Open doors made a claim that our 4yr old Rosie told them her daddy hit her and her mommy with a belt! That was 100% untrue shes NEVER been hit by her father let alone anyone and.... SHE WASNT EVEN THERE!!!!!!We took 2 of our children to open doors for a period of 3 days as we were being induced to have our 5th child(Our eldest a 12yr old boy was at the hospital with us and our 3rd child 4yr old Rosie was in St. George UT with one of my sisters)So open doors had our second child age 9yrs and 4th child age 11months.If youre going to make an claim such as this MAKE SURE YOURE MAKING IT ON THE RIGHT FAMILY!!!PS. It was a claim DCFS found unsupported thank god!!!!!
Great staff, volunteer at this location when you can, great staff.
****The photo of the full cart is no longer valid. The cart is now so small, smaller than the stores, that you cannot get much food at all.**** They only want to help with a couple of days of food a month no more!!! *****Times keep changing when the food bank is open. Not very friendly with the new changes. Be ready to go to the front office every time you go to fill out the same paperwork. Carts are small and stuff on the bottom falls off. Most can goods are the same fruit cocktail, beans, diced tomatoes, peaches, pears and cranberries. Very few cans of other stuff.
I wish they could figure their stuff out so that when people come in its not a giant pain every time
They helped my family when we needed them the most. Their food bank is amazing. Thanks!
Good help little unorganized but also very underhanded to deal with
We was in desperate need and open doors came threw
We volunteer at Open Doors with are clients every Monday it is an amazing place the staff is wounderfull Maria is a great person we love the pmace
The people I volunteer with are amazing! Always ready to help.
Went there when you could actually get food. Normal cart. Now the small cart wont hold as much as the small carts at Smiths. Bairly enough for one person. Refrigerated items left out on pallets.I was told that it was only for a couple of days of food help. What about the rest of the month? Even with the supplemental SNAP you run out of food by the end of the month. And we dont eat a lot of food either. Not many snacks a bag of m&Ms lasts us a few months. The desk people are rude at times. Very territorial. Tried to sit on a chair inside 8 minutes before opening and was refused to enter the door. What are they hidding? Over heard rude comments made by employees about people who are needing food.I even heard them tell some lady who just had abdominal surgery that she would have to go up front again, apparently she did this the month before too. You could tell she was in excruciating pain too. When she came back she said that she didnt need to go up there in the first place. Poor lady, and no one helped her get her groceries to he car either.Personally, I never get to deal with anyone friendly. If there was another choice I would take it. Lately the still have the same stuff, cans of beans, peaches, mixed fruit, diced tomatoes, punkin and cranberries. Bags of beans or rice, raisins, and cranberry juice. All the stuff the stores couldnt sell or are out dated. Choices are non-existent. A whole freezer of fish or silced meat. Alot of the time its parts not many people will ever eat. Gizzards, chicken hearts, feet, tongue, stomachs. If you want water, it fills the entire basket on its own.Im grateful for what I can get. Even though it is becoming a lot less. Hope the fresh veggies and fruit get there soon.
Everyone should love good food from a pantry yay

Counselor is very helpful for other resources
Ive never left here without the feeling that everything is going to be ok. The staff is compassionate and helpful, not to mention knowledgeable about what programs are available to help you specific family needs.
