I went to the shop with a quilting buddy as part of an in-depth search for the perfect sewing chair. Both men at Wimmer’s were extremely friendly and nice.Spencer was knowledgeable and took time to allow us to adjust, sit and wiggle in the chair we liked. Spencer and Don have used the same chair for up to 6 years without a problem in the sewing machine repair workshop. We tested their chairs, also. They all sat and wiggled the same, new and used. I saw no upholstery wear, and was told that they sit in their chairs an average of about 6 hours per day.After about 10 hours of internet research, a FaceBook open question with over 150 responses, and sitting in chairs at multiple sewing and office supply retailers from Fashion Place Mall in Salt Lake City to Wimmer’s in Layton, we purchased a total of three chairs!👏🏼We went home with 3 Koala sewing chairs. An added benefit: they adjust to full stool height, as well as, sewing and desk height. Did I mention the foot ring?In summation: Wimmer’s more than met our desires for service and product. We even bought some quilting things😉. Their primary focus is selling, maintaining, and repairing sewing machines. They also sell, fabric, notions, patterns, etc. for quilting. Great guys!!!

Excellent customer service. Bought the perfect Koala Comfort Sewing Chair from them. They also have unique quilt patterns I havent seen elsewhere. Had to buy a pattern too.

Exceptional customer service. They held my oder to accommodate my travel plans. My order was clearly marked, no trouble for the guy looking for it.BTW, they have the BEST SMELLING candles ever. I would tell you my 💜favorite💜 but then I might have trouble finding it in stock 😉. Large, small candles .. .. different count fragrance melts .. (oh my gosh they smell 😍 so good!You dont even have to like sewing or quilting (they have classes FYI)just head for they candle display. You will feel so pampered.The end.

I took my sewing machine into Wimmers after the thread started catching in the throat plate. I did not buy my machine there but have used their repair services before. The young lady who helped me showed me where the thread catches on the cutter( Ive never had an internal thread cutter before)She showed me what had happened, how to fix it in future and cleaned up the bobbin area. Put all back together and sent me on my way, no charge. Thank you Wimmers for your kind and caring service.

Just bought the Design Brilliance 80.The test drive was thorough and Spencer answered all my questions.Help doesn’t stop after your purchase. I have called or gone back to the shop several times about different things and they answer or demonstrate what I had a question about.They loaded my new table in the truck for me.They offer classes on a variety of topics.The repair shop is in house.I will refer anyone here who is interested in either a Viking, Babylock or Pfaff machine.They also have a nice selection of fabrics and other supplies you would need for your quilting or embroidery needs

I took my first quilting class in January 2020, and I was hooked. Fun instructors, atmosphere during classes, knowledgeable staff. Spencer sold me my Babylock sewing machine, offer services on repairs, tuneups, etc. Good deals on floor model machines. Great job!

I really love Wimmers. I started coming here after having a terrible service experience at another store. I have an older machine (more than 50 years old), and they took immaculate care of it. They checked with me to see if it performed all the duties I needed it for, and after finding out that it did, did not in any way hassle me about getting a new one. They gave my repair back to me cleaned beautifully and running great, and if I ever get another machine it will be from them.

These people came highly recommended. When they saw the age of my,Viking machine they told me I could trade it for $100 towards a new one. I asked them what they did with the ones traded in. They said they pirated parts for other ones that came. When I now went to use my machine, the cord is taped together. It was not taped when I took it to them. I am sure they replaced my foot pedal with a different one. Also the table that fits around the arm now has a broken piece and is missing the leg. It was not like that when they received it.

Well, I really like my BabyLok machine and I have been there several times for a little help. Abagail the young lady with long hair and pretty has helped me and today an older gentleman helped me. I have severe arthritis in my back and its hard to get around, but Spencer was kind to get me a chair along with a nice customer. Thank you. Im sure Ill be back. Took my sewing machine there for service. The man who took my info was friendly and said it would take 3-4 weeks. There was an end date on the receipt. I called to see if I could pick it up 1 day before the 4 week period and the woman was incredibly snarky and acted like I had some nerve expecting it to be done when it was promised. I retrieved my machine (still not even looked at a week later) and will not return.

Took my Vacuum in to Wimmers the day after Christmas because it just stopped working.. The young Man that helped me was very kind and courteous,. He quickly found that my vacuum had swallowed a nickel, removed it, and didn’t charge a penny.So grateful there are still good places to go when you need help. I took my sewing machine to be repaired at a shop in Bountiful. They quoted me $98 just to diagnose the problem. After 4 hours they called, and said they didnt work on my type of machine. Wimmers quoted me $69 to diagnose and repair it. They were honest and trustworthy. They charge $2 to sharpen shears whereas the other place charges $12! Their knowledge is extensive. Their prices cant be beat. And, their shop is light and fun to look around in. I wont go anywhere else ever again.

Worst experience ever! I took my machine in for a basic first time service. I got it back in worst condition than I took it. The staff when I called back the staff was rude and unhelpful. $110 down the drain. I would never recommend this place to anybody!!!

I have been in the market for an all purpose sewing machine. I need one that can sew 12 layers of denim and can quilt projects that I have pieced. Spencer at Wimmers in Layton took the time to answer all my questions. Then he demonstrated exactly on the Pfaff 720 exactly what I needed. I highly recommend Wimmers.

I have used Wimmers for years. They are always honest and fair and are not high pressure. I have had my many machines fixed y them over the years and have always been very happy with the work. I have NEVER had a problem with anything they have sold me or fixed for me. They are the best!

I took our sewing machine to be repaired. The local fabric store suggested Wimmers and said that they were the sewing machine experts in northern Utah. I agree with that description. I have a high-end machine and needed it to be fixed correctly. They really know their stuff. They also offer classes for all levels of experience from the beginner to the more experienced.

I have been a customer for 20+ years. The service and products are excellent. They have repaired my vacuum, which I purchased there and also several sewing machines . I also participate in several of the classes offered. The classes are educational, fun and the staff make you feel like home. I recommend Wimmers every chance I get.

I recently purchased a hand vacuum to compliment our upright. The knowledge and customer service at Wimmers is top notch. I appreciate the quality of service and I will definitely purchase (or service) a vacuum from Wimmers again.

I have used Wimmers more than a few times... Last time in 2009 I took a Singer 6234 machine in to be repaired- the slide-plate bobbin cover thing had broken off, so they welded it back together. When I picked it up the repair was not too much cost wise- the older gentleman is the best employee there. I was helped by some older woman; she was rude and said I wasnt charged enough. Also she said my machine was a cheap machine that wasnt worth much. I paid $350 for this machine in 1989- it wasnt what I considered a cheap machine. I sewed with this machine for 20+ years... not much in the problem area. I was also told that if the machine needs anymore repairs just replace it the motor will probably go in a short time anyway- its still running. the slide-plate thing I had fixed before is now broken again- my teenage daughter didnt realize it has to be slid shut to be able to sew with the free arm. I will probably just replace my machine.. I wont return to this place.

Best Vacuum Repair Shop in Layton. Nothing I love more than a company that will Level with me and give me the info I need to make the best decision. No selling, no fluff, they educated me. They also were very accommodating of me even though they had just closed for business 2 minutes earlier. I write reviews very sparingly...it has to be really good or really bad and no question Wimmers were Really Good.

The employees are rude and ignore customers - you basically have to go back to their work area and pull one to the front to get service. Also, they dont keep notes or talk from shift to shift about the work orders - I had to tell 4 different people across 3 visits what my vacuum needed and sat there for 45 minutes on the last time waiting on them to finish so i could finally take my vacuum home. They cleaned and serviced it but everyone ignored the ripped hose for over 3 weeks and they still charged me $70 when i was told that i wouldnt be charged since 1) i was waiting forever and 2) their mistake in not catching the hose tear and their repeated mistakes in not ordering the hose delayed my vacuum repairs another week. i recommend looking elsewhere for a shop.

I needed my Dyson repaired, and brought it in and got it back the very same day! Plus, they cleaned everything out and made sure everything was in perfect order. I would recommend Wimmers over ANY repair shop. The prices were so great, and the results were even greater! And the customer service was phenomenal. Keep up the fantastic work Wimmers!!

Highly dissatisfied. I have never felt so unwelcome coming into a store before. I have only been inside the store two times. Once to purchase an item and the second time to try to do an exchange, which lead nowhere. The employees are very unfriendly, unprofessional and unhelpful. I wont waste my time in the store again.

If you want your sewing machine serviced Wimmers is the place to go. If you buy a machine they are very good to train you on how to use it. I have gone to Wimmers for over 30 years.

I really believe in supporting small town stores, but after my experience, I will never return to this place or recommend them to anyone. I took a Kenmore Vacuum in to Wimmers to get repaired on September 14. They discouraged me in getting it repaired because it would be over $100 for a plastic part, take 4 weeks to get in because its a Kenmore, and my vacuum was worn out anyway (it is only five years old). They then spent 45 minutes selling me a $1000 vacuum. I considered it, but called them back later and told them to go ahead and order the part. I waited three weeks, and called them back on October 5 to check the status of my repair. They told me they were waiting for my ok on ordering the part. I said, You mean, my vacuum has been sitting in your shop for three weeks and you havent even ordered the part? They then proceeded to tell me that they had, and they would let me know when it would get in. I called back one week later (October 12) to see if my vacuum was done, since this would have been the day they originally quoted me. They again asked me if I had given them them the ok to order it, and I said I did on the day I dropped it off. The person seemed confused, and said hed have the vacuum guy call me back the next day. He did call me back, and proceeded to tell me that the part would be in on October 23 and be fixed asap. I was so upset, but trying hard to be patient and get it over with. I then called back on October 25, where they told me that the wrong part came in and they had to order another part. By now I had lost all patience and demanded an explanation. The employee told me that my part was not ordered until October 12 (after the second time I called, a full month after I dropped it off, and I had been lied to twice on the phone by employees who told me it was ordered). He also said they ordered the wrong part. I should have gone to pick up my vacuum at this point, but he said the part should be in at any time, and I thought they would comp this repair for the nightmare it had been. After not hearing anything, I finally called on November 9, where an employee proceeded to tell me that Kenmore sent the wrong part, Kenmore is a terrible company, and proceeded to blame everything on Kenmore. I called him out on his lies, and he tried to reassure me that the part should be there any day. I have no idea why I didnt go pick up my vacuum, because I was beyond angry, but I was fed the lie constantly that my vaccum part would get there any day and theyd fix it asap. Finally on November 20, after two months of my vacuum sitting in their repair shop, Wimmers called to tell me that Kenmore sent them an email saying my part was on backorder. They asked if I still wanted them to repair it and I said absolutely not. I sent my husband in to pick it up because I was so upset. Usually, if a business is in the wrong, Id get apologies and maybe an offer of how they could make this situation better. Instead, I got lies, denials, and blame. Worst customer service ever.
