They could stand to have more help but their staff is all friendly, helpful and enjoy working there with the animals. They have certain days where you can adopt pets for free and or at a discount price. All animals come chipped, neutered/spayed, vaccinated, with a small bag of food and a free first vet visit.

They actually cared when I wrote them(no phone number for them could be found), about a dog I thought was lost. They emailed me right back and followed up too. Luckily, the next day, I saw the dog with a collar and stepping happy steps with its owner. Dont you love happy endings? That was not a question for the men.😂

A very small location. Very polite people, but I didnt realize you had to schedule visits with the animals, unlike some of the other shelters in the area. Be aware of that if youre going to go looking for a four legged friend here

BEWARE of Kitty Karens . If youre hoping to adopt a furry friend youre better off going to your Countys local animal shelter. We walked in for more information about a kitten for adoption we were interested in and were met with an attitude instantly. Instead of helping us through the adoption process the lady who helped us decided to whine and complain about us not checking our email. I understand we werent aware of the email at the time, it was no help to us as well as rude for them to just turn us down with no additional help through any sort of adoption process. They ended up helping us in the end by turning us down for adoption making excuses and most likely blatantly lying about the situation at hand. My suggestion would be to not jump to conclusions and be more polite to individuals hoping to bring an pet to a better home. If your staff is rude at the gate then any pets likelihood of adoption will be thrown out of the window and people will be less likely or intimidated to adopt an animal in need in the future. Please learn from this, you know who you are.

I volunteered at Gwinnett humane and it truly was an amazing and eye opening experience. To whomever chooses to buy or go to large shelters to adopt or surrender their pet please reconsider and look into Gwinnett humane. The facility is ran by three women and I had the opportunity to see their true love for animals. They treat their animals as if they were their own and they receive one on one care and love from the women who run the facility. Please look into Gwinnett humane if you’re looking to surrender your pet. They’ll take the time to make sure the animal is going to a good home not just someone who owns a home or likes the animal at the moment. You won’t regret choosing Gwinnett Humane as you look Into adopting.

Not satisfied with my potential pet adoption experience. My family are finally in a position to take on the added responsibility of adding a new fury family member. We spent a lot of time researching breads that were acceptable but wasnt having much luck finding a pet reasonably priced that fit our criteria. We randomly entered the Gwinnett Humane Society and found James, a bullboxer that was perfect and fit our needs as we did his. Make a long story short, our application was later denied not because we were unfit but because the foster family was being completely unreasonable in dictating the terms of adoption. A power i believe embewed to her by the organization itself. Setting an unrealistic standard that nobody but the foster family themselves could meet. This foster family fosters several dogs and puppies and is notorious for denying worthy applicants. Several other families had been denied for the pet we were interested in and several others. We visited multiple times and emailed to try and convince them of our suitability to no avail. This practice of allowing the foster family to have final say is ridiculous and completely counter productive to the organizations mission to permanently house at risk animals. It needs to change, and until it does, i wont be returning. I suggest you dont bother wasting your time either. My family was disappointed but im sure we will find the right pet for us soon.

This is an organization that loves and cares for animals deeply. This organization is not a shelter. The animals are taken into the volunteers homes as fosters until they can be adopted into forever homes. The potential forever parents a screened carefully to ensure the cat or dog will be loved and cared for.

This is a non-profit no-kill rescue group run by volunteers. They dont provide medical care and they dont have a full-time facility; they utilize private foster homes. Gwinnett Humane Society does a ton of good in this community. They also pull animals from the county kill-shelter!! As it says straight up on their website: Gwinnett Humane Society does not operate a shelter and does not have a staff available by direct phone line.

First of all how in the world am I supposed to get a hold of anyone to speak with ??? You call and it goes straight to a voicemail?... No one ever answers . I got a dog there 3 weeks ago on a Saturday and week later she was not able to walk, stand, wont eat . I took her to the emergency room last night and the doctor told me that shes been sick that the Gwinnett humane society sold me a sick dog. I do not want to return her and take her back or give up on a dog I had for 3 weeks . My dog is not merchandise that I can or will just return, she is an animal, part of my family. I think its extremely wrong to sell a family a dog thats very sick especially the pet owners who get attached to their pets and love them like their own. They told me she was 5 1/2 years old but the doctor from the emergency room last night told me she is older. Im extremely frustrated and ticked off about this. I feel like the humane society should be the ones to pay for her medical expenses when its their fault they sold a family a very sick dog. I will do everything in my power for the humane society today Fox this became not giving upon my dog. Im her voice now and I wont stop until this is right.

WARNING ALL ANIMAL LOVERS DO NOT GO HERE!!In all honesty this place doesnt even deserve a star! I took my 4 1/2 month kitten in to get spayed in January and my experience was not only horrific but heartbreaking.First of all I brought all my previous paperwork from my last place because I was told I would need to continue getting her vaccines, when they looked over the notes they insisted she had all her shots and told me she didnt need them any longer. Turns out she was due for her last FVRCP and now shes a couple weeks late.I asked them to trim my kittens nails, which are completely transparent so nobody has ever had trouble missing the cuticle(including me but I can longer cut them as she got very feisty with age). I got my kitten back and her nails were nubs and some had dried blood around them!!!At this point I was crying because I felt so bad she looked miserable and kept licking them nonstop. I get her home and the string they gave me to string through her cone and tie around her arms was 6 inches long IF THAT. So we couldnt figure out how to put the cone on, they didnt give me any instructions before leaving and now shes licking and biting her wound.I call the place and Im a mess, I ask them if they can put the cone on for me if I drive back which will take 10 minutes depending on traffic and because it was 5:45 (rush hour), can you believe they told me no?!? They said Our doors close at 6 if your not here we will not help you at this point im very upset so I decide to challenge her your supposed to be animal people and we both know its very dangerous for a cat to rip out her stiches, I gave you my money (I even offered more) already and I really need help im struggling with this and she wont stop biting them She told me she knew that but there was nothing they could do and then continued to give me incredibly rude attitude, so rude I told her I will take my business elsewhere and tell everyone in my area to never come here, so unprofessional. So I did, I took my business elsewhere, I paid $50 for an exam at a REAL vet and $30 for her medicine, in the end I shouldve taken her to Pet Care Associates on Hog Mountain Rd (AMAZING customer service) because I ended up spending the same amount of money if I would have gone to them in the first place but I like to give my money to humane societys because it goes toward the cause! Obviously never will I EVER go here again. The Pet Care Associates also informed me the take home pain pills that Gwinnett Humane Society gave me are too bitter for cats(they give u pills divided into 1/4) they wont take them like dogs will so they gave me a liquid medicine with the doses already in syringes and my cat actually took it like a champ! In the end shes doing better and her nails have grown in but I can tell you now I havent ever had such a terrible experience anywhere thats left me in tears.Lets say my kitten has gotten lots of treats since then!!

Waste of time! When we went there on a Sunday they had one dog there. They don’t even bother to update the status of their dogs when they get adopted. We stopped in one day when we were on 124 in snellville. They wouldnt let us hold a cat unless we filled out their paperwork and adopted the cat with out getting to know it. You can tell much when you hold an animal. they were rude and not friendly. We ended up adopting a cat from the county shelter...got to hold him first and see how he acted towards us. We have had him over a year and he is a sweetie..and a black cat with 6 white hairs on his chest.i will never go to the Gwinnett Human Societys places ever...they are now in Lilburn. The people there are so snotty and rude....dont bother...you can get a nice dog or cat from the shelter on Lawrenceville highway going towards winder/
