I took a suit in to be tailored 1.5 weeks before I needed it for an event. I had purchased the suit from a shop in kc and showed up to Sew Forth unannounced and without an appointment. 10 minutes later my impromptu fitting was complete.I have broad shoulders and a small waist so there was quite a lot to take in around the back of the suit and pants and it was definitely not a simple job, but I had it back and finished in a little over a week!I had paid $200 for the suit from the shop in kc and after the awesome tailoring here, it looked like it had cost 5x that with how well it fit me. The alterations themself were a little over $100 and well worth it.
This is the best alterations shop in Lawrence. They took care of my wedding dress two months before my wedding, and they did an absolutely amazing job. The team was very quick to take care of my dress. At no point was I worried about the schedule or them finishing on time. In total, I went in for three visits. The first visit was to take measurements and figure out what alterations might be needed. The second visit was to verify that the alterations were good before they finalized the adjustments. The third visit was to try on the finished dress and take it home. The cost was very affordable, especially for a wedding dress. The staff is casual and friendly, but also so professional. I am very happy with their services!
I was very impressed by the quick turnaround on a dress hem I needed altered. Easy fitting/measuring and quick pick up. I will definitely be a repeat customer.
There is a reason why I keep going back to them when I need hemming or alterations. And theyre polite theyre reasonably priced and they get the job done right
Brought a bridesmaids dress in about 3 weeks before the wedding. They said their turn around time was about 3-4 weeks, but they would make sure they got it done for me. The lady was pleasant about it and 2 weeks later I got a call my dress was done! It fits perfectly, great service!
The ladies are very friendly and easy to work with. Highly reccomend this business .
My son and daughter in law chose so forth for the rental of 7 suits for their wedding. Many of us, as did myself were fitted elsewhere and the measurements were sent to sew forth. When I was fitted, they were sent what fit me. When I tried on what they sent, it was at least two sizes two small. This was at 9 pm the night prior to the wedding the next day. My son called them the morning of the wedding. They said they might have something one size larger. I did not have time for might. I went to mens wearhouse and had to buy and have altered a suit at the last minute the following morning before the wedding. They got it done but it cost $523.00. and those was after paying for a suit that I could not wear. When my son returned the suits to sew forth, they told him that they get their suits from Jims formal wear and could only refund the cost they pay to Jims formal wear for the suit that I paid for and could not wear!!!! We paid$ 160.00 rental per suit, plus a non refundable $50.00 dollar deposit. This $210.00 for a suit I could not and did not wear!!! Sew forth only refunded $118.00. And I had to buy a suit at the last minute!!! Do not go to sew forth or any little shop that uses Jims formal wear!! I have since found out that all privately owned shops use Jims formal wear!!!
They did a wonderful job on my wedding dress! I was very happy with everything that got completed.
Price was great and staff were super friendly. They were accommodating with safety practices and scheduling fittings. Im so happy with how my wedding dress alterations went and will 100% be going back to preserve my dress and for any other alterations I have.
My top coat needed new pockets. The original pockets were not made with the best of fabrics. Sew Forth did a great job of not only replacing the torn pockets but in upgrading the pockets with a much more durable fabric. They gave new life to my favorite winter coat at a very reasonable price in a short amount of time. I am very pleased and will return to Sew Forth when other needs arise.
I think this was previously Anita’s Alterations. I don’t remember if I’ve ever had to get a garment altered before I stepped into my wedding dress the other week, only to discover it was too small post holidays. Bride’s worst nightmare. Sew Forth got me in right away and fixed my dress within several weeks. It fits now and I feel 100% better about my wedding day. Thank you so much!!!
Awesome! Good service!! Great people!
From my wedding gown, to everyday hemming and repair, Sew Forth Alterations has been the only shop in town Ive entrusted with my favorite wardrobe pieces. Melanie has helped me with countless items over the years, from helping us choose the right tuxedos, to getting a custom fit. Shes especially skilled at patch work - for those favorite jeans that you might have busted out - ugh! I highly recommend Sew Forth Alterations and Tuxedos for an awesome, locally-owned, family business to fit your needs.
Great fast awesome job
Just had a conversation with a rude receptionist while I was trying to give them business! I’ll take my business elsewhere from now on.
An exceedingly competent staff almost got me to five stars ... but waiting five weeks on a two-week promised turnaround (when I called at three weeks and was told the items would be ready in a day) is frustrating. I wanted this to become my go-to spot, and it might... Still a toss up for me: Sew Forth or Kims.
They took over a month to alter 4 panel curtains. After 5 weeks, I had to call them to find out the order status. After this, it was still 4 more days before I would get a call saying they were done. When I arrived, they attempted to charge me $87.00. Price had not been discussed at drop off, where the woman greeting me seemed rushed and inconvienced by my visit. I assumed she would assess them later and update me with a price. I never dreamed they would cost more than my wedding dress alterations! For that price I could nearly buy myself a new sewing machine.
Sew Forth Alterations was a life saver. I needed straps of a dress altered for a wedding that day and they were able to help me. They were so nice and accommodating. Highly recommend for any alteration needs.
This is my go-to alterations shop! My whole family comes here. Whether its formal wear, shirts, jeans, dresses, military uniforms, mascot costumes, or graduation gowns, this shop has you covered! Their attentiveness to detail, professionalism, and timeliness sets them apart. Plus, its a local, family-owned business!
Melanie does great work and shes super professional. She makes sure the fit is just right.
They did an excellent job altering my suit and hemming my suit pants.
I Went in to picked up my coat, and upon my inspection, they did a great job. Will be back soon.
They did a great job on my repairs, I highly recommend them. They are very professional and friendly.
We rented our tuxes from here and 2 of the groomsmen were from out of state; that was no big deal for the staff. The tuxes came in over a week early and the staff made an accommodation to let us drop them off when they are normally closed.
Placed military rank in the exact spot it needed to be, competitive prices, and friendly staff.
Quality and and on time sometimes sooner....
