Macelis was so wonderful to work with. Jesse was so helpful in helping decide the food while keeping with in our budget and also within our vision and how we should have the venue set up. The day of our party we were short some table cloths (by my own doing) and they brought them to the venue right after we called them. The food was delicious and we got so many compliments on it. I also really appreciated never feeling pressured to spend more or add additional services. Highly recommend Macelis.

You should 100% hire Macelis for any catering needs you have.Let me tell you about the unique situation we had and how Macelis went above and beyond... So we started out planning our September 2020 wedding in January of 2020~ a normal wedding with a plated dinner and 125-150 guests. We loved the tasting at Macelis and made our down payment to reserve our date... then as we all know Covid hit. We postponed the wedding to September 2021, and Jesse was extremely flexible in the difficult situation and applied our payment toward our future date (this sounds normal, but not all vendors were as gracious and flexible)... Fast forward to March 2021. Covid is raging on, and we know it wont be gone by September. So we decided to cancel the wedding and pivot to a totally new idea. We rented an airbnb for 4 days in August, invited our 15 closest family and friends and planned to enjoy quality time with a DIY ceremony on Saturday. Everyone agreed to quarantine and test for covid ahead of time, just to make sure we were all safe since there would be immunocompromised people in attendance. I then approached Jesse with a huge ask: Can we change our date once again, apply our down payment towards the new plan, and can you cater meals for 15 people for 4 days instead of 1 large meal for 150- oh and can we do all this virtually and curbside...I was prepared for him to laugh in my face, keep the down payment and send me on my way, but instead he told me he would talk to the owner and see what they could do since they had never planned an event like this. He came back a few days later with meal plans and a quote. Fast forward again to a week before the wedding when I called him to touch base and pay the remaining balance. He told me he would call me back the next day because he wanted to look over the contract again and reduce the cost of our bill... just because. WOW! He also sent me all the reheating instructions for each meal and the packaging was amazing. Not to mention the food was OUTSTANDING. Seriously, everyone raved about every single meal AND their portions were huge so we had plenty of leftover to freeze and are still enjoying the food today. The Macelis team and expecially Jesse is truly as good as it gets.

Very nice place, managed very well. I loved the décor as we entered. The facility is very clean and neat. The decor is tasteful. I loved that the Dance floor is a separate area. The atmosphere was very romantic as well as lively for the event I attended there.

Attended a recent meeting here that included a meal. Facilities and staff were set up to comply with covid rules. The food was outstanding. Ive been here before for dinner, and you just cant beat it!

We just attended my sons wedding and reception this past weekend at Macelis and were extremely impressed with the facilities, the food was excellent (steak and salmon were great along with everything else). The staff were extremely polite and Lara did and great job coordinating the event. Highly recommend them!

I have attended a few events here in the past that were always really well done. Recently, due to the stay at home order, they have had to transition to take home meals. We’ve now ordered from them 3 times, getting different items each time, and they have all been great. Chicken Tiki Masala, a Southwest Rice Bowl, to a braised short rib dish were all delicious. I would encourage anyone to give their take home meals a try and support a great local business.

I hadnt been to Macelis in over a year. The space felt much brighter and less cavernous -- perhaps due to the new floor treatment and improved lighting? Seemed much improved, for a well-loved (and well-run) Lawrence institution.

Such a versatile venue. Weve Nerd Nites on the second Wednesday of the month. Comfortable seating and good sound system.

This is the 2nd year I have gone to a work christmas party here.....I LOVE THIS PLACE! the employees are so friendly! The food is always delicious. If you choose to use them them for an event you will NOT be disappointed! They go out of their way to make it a success.

Great venue that hosts the liveliest events in Lawrence. The space is more than accommodating to a wide variety of events, Ive been there for: dances, drag shows, brunches, nerd nights, fundraisers - they do it all. Also, their smores cookie is honestly the best cookie in Lawrence. Do yourself a favor and get it on whatever catering menu you get from Macelis - then send me one!

August 2014We had our wedding reception at Macelis in 2014. Not only was the staff (We worked w/ Kasey) beyond accommodating, we got multiple comments on how nice everything looked. I think the biggest response we heard from our guests was that the food was outstanding. My husband and I attended a few of their food tastings but kind of went on a whim to pick of menu.... And it turned out fantastic. The scalloped potatoes and herb beef got the most compliments.Macelis offered great prices (We got married on a Friday evening) and discounts, especially in comparison to everywhere else in town.Id recommend this facility, staff and catering to anyone looking to impress w/o putting in a whole lot of work!THANK YOU!

Great event space

I wanted family and friends to have good food, plenty of drinks and for me to have very little hassle planning a wedding reception out of state. And I got all that and so much more with Macelis! Working with Lara was easy and she handled everything. The reception hall was beautifully decorated and the food was delicious. Couldnt have asked for a better experience.

Good experience for an event rental location. The place is really nice inside and the catering was relaxed even though the event was formal. It was nice having security. Not sure if the location supplied the security or the event organizers.

Staff and overall experience is incredible. The locale and atmosphere is very typical for a formal dinner, and includes an upper terrace. Very suitable for many formal events: weddings, large business dinners, formal presentations.
