We took our boy Clyde here to see Dr Wang after weeks of him suffering a corneal ulcer that would not heal with the advice and medication prescribed by other vets (not ophthalmologists, in their defense). She was direct and quick to the point with his diagnosis and treatment options and really seemed sensitive to his suffering and also to our distress as his owners. She was careful to warn of unlikely possible failures, none of which manifested.Soon after his treatment he was bouncing around happily like his usual self.Joyce, if you’re reading this, I can’t tell you how grateful we are that you helped Clyde and for the peace of mind we enjoyed with him in your care. Thank you. Also, thank you to all the nurses and staff who were very caring and professional and awesome

I took my 11 year old Min Pin here to see a cardiologist. The process was relatively easy and the wait wasnt bad at all. Everything moved along in a timely fashion. The doctors assistant was awesome and very thorough. My one complaint would be that they did not have my girls medical records from the regular vets that she sees. In addition, there was an issue in regard to her seeing a different vet than intended. However, after voicing my concerns, the issues are being resolved. Therefore, all in all, its been a pretty good experience thus far.

Came here because no vets near my house would accept my pet without an appointment. I got here at 7:30am but my cat was admitted at 8am. As you arrive you must call the number they ask to be called to do the whole check in process. (Pet owners can not go inside due to COVID -19 prevention) The initial price of examination is $105 and then they will add the price of the test or process you and the vet decide to do base upon the examination. I was able to check out with my cat at 1:30pm and that is because I had to call to see if they were done with the treatment they said they would do. If not I think I could have stay more longer. The nurse with green hair was so nice and welcoming. The vet would call me after examination which would be about 9am and then we chose to do certain test. Then got called at 11 am to talk about the results and how we can go from there. The process was done in a very proper manner, just the fact that they took long to check me out but they were very professional. Also they nurses helping during the time I waited outside were always doing their best to keep with the COVID 19 prevention methods. Also every other hours a person would clean the doors and the outside. Now it’s been a few days after and my pet is well, I must say my best regards to the whole team who help my pet be good. Thank you all for your hard work.

Absolute worst experience I have ever had as a pet owner coming to this place. Was told 1-2 hours wait just for my dog to be able to be looked at. Okay, fine. Called 2.5 hours later to check the status of my dog being seen, was told to come back in another 1.5 hours and then theyd maybe have a spot for him. Dont call yourself a ER vet if it takes nearly 4 hours to just merely look at a dog having respiratory issues and can hardly breathe. I even called them while he was hardly breathing so they could hear the stridor just for them to walk out 15 min later look at him and say well hes fine now so he can wait another 1.5 hours. Despite me relaying that this was happening every 10-15 minutes and lasting for 20 minutes at a time. I have a lot of patience for facilities like this cause I work in a hospital but this service was absolutely atrocious. Do not take patients if you dont have adequate time management skills and the ability to be transparent about your wait times from the very beginning.

My dog was almost 16 years old and as much as it hurt it was her time to go. (severe health issues) I wish I remembered the 1st representatives name but she gave me comfort that I was doing the right decision. It was such a heart breaking moment but they made things easy and smooth. They also wrote a letter expressing their condolences which was very thoughtful. I decided to cremate her and the presentation was so beautiful.

Ive been here several times over the years for pet emergences and I never have had a horrible experience.I just called in this evening to make a specialty appointment for a new pet. The woman answering the phone hung up on me several times. When she finally decided to answer the call, I told her, youve hung up on me several times, whats going on? She threw an attitude as if Im bothering her. Whats your question? I asked her, is this a good time? She said, Maam whats your question? She was very rude, obviously she should not be answering phones. Thankfully Im not in crisis with a pet emergency and I can call another place for the service. I cant imagine dealing with this unprofessional angry woman while having an emergency with a pet. Do better with customer service. Be professional. If you cant even answer the phones, how can you manage peoples pets?

Unfortunately I have to give this place a low review, but it’s for the corporate management not the local staff. Dr K, our internist, is amazing and so is the staff. The issue is corporate still after almost two years won’t allow owners inside with their pets. While this is fine for some, for those of us with large animals(90lb dog) with severe anxiety, it has caused a barrier to getting proper treatment. We’ve been so lucky that my dogs health has been decent this time, but if something were to go wrong this policy would really hurt him.If I’m fully vaccinated, why can’t I accompany my dog to the back like before? It doesn’t make sense that we can dine indoors, go to events indoors(with masks) but can’t see a healthcare provider while wearing a mask(and again, I’m also fully vaccinated).

I brought my 10 years old cat as she was sick, they have been nice on the phone and even in full capacity decided to keep her as she was critical. From that moment until we make the decision to put her asleep, the people has been very nice, understanding. The vet MD called me to give me update on how her condition was declining and they patiently waited for me to communicate with my daughter about the decision to make. When the time came a nice woman with a soft voice spoke to us and directed us to a room where we spend some time with our precious little one, it was very important to my daughter. Everybody has been professional, compassionate. Above all they never push to do test or intervention on my cat, they were clear and understanding. Being a nurse help me better to understand everything. I cannot say thank you enough.

Today I buried my best friend. The Doctor...I wish I could remember her name African American woman with glasses and braids handled the passing of my dog with care and patience as it was very hard for me to let go. However, the front desk staff... Natalie in particular and back office were unprofessional. After I expressed my urgency I was parked on hold for 7 mins. My sister informed one of the techs that my dog was crying non stop in pain. She was rude and dismissive. While on hold I walked in and demanded to be seen... once I told the front desk my dog needed to be put to sleep they finally took me seriously. The entire time as this was extremely difficult the staff was outside our door while my dog was crying in the next room laughing and joking around. Just the lack of compassion was the most disappointing. The girls seemed to have an attitude as if they didnt enjoy there jobs. Miserable and insensitive. Granted some may of not known of the situation at hand, but couldve of conducted themselves professionally and respect the hardship of putting your dog of 18 years to sleep.

Brought my dog in for vomiting and worry of blockage. I called and told them situation 2x then my friend who was watching her, was on vacation, brought her in and told them what was happening over phone and in person. They didnt listen to either of us and tried to discharge her without doing anything even though she hadnt drinking any water in 24hrs and would vomit if she tried to drink. I had to explain that again to vet over phone to get x-rays. They told me x-rays would take about an hour to get results. 3hrs later I got no report and had to call them and push to get any info. Got hung up on 2x by receptionist until I got a tech on phone who actually helped and gave me info. I was only calling to get an update on my dog. I will never go back again. Now I know to just take her to my vet and wait since it took them longer to give me any info on dog then if I had waited at my vet. Dont go here its just a money pumping machine they dont care about the animal!

My 15 year old feral rescue Eartha Kitty became critically ill at the end of March 2021 with what I later learned was advanced feline lymphoma. I brought her to VCA Lawndale where she had an emergency pleural tap for fluid surrounding her right lung that was impairing her breathing. As gently as possible, Dr Heather Elliott explained to me that this was only a temporary fix. I could not bear to think of putting Eartha down. I took her home with a steroid recommended by Dr. Elliott. Less than a week later Eartha Kitty again experienced respiratory distress. She was euthanized at VCA, dying as I held her in my lap on Saturday morning April 10th. A less ethical vet would have given me false hope ..I loved that cat and was desperate to save her.As broken hearted as I was and still remain,I could not have asked for more compassion and integrity than I received from both Dr. Elliott and her team. I will always remember them with gratitude.

We took our 12 year old 6lb pomeranian dog to VCA because he had trouble breathing. x-ray ($285) don’t know what’s wrong. Vetscan ($235) don’t know what’s wrong. CT scan with anesthesia ($1100) don’t know what’s wrong. Fluid analysis with culture ($750) plus $330 STAT charge and still don’t know what’s wrong. at this point, our dog has been at VCA for 2 full days. They keep telling us they need to keep the dog longer to “monitor” but have no idea what’s wrong with him.finally we had enough and went to pick up the the dog. it’s 9pm sunday night. after waiting in the designated pick up zone for 30 minutes i decide to go inside and get the dog. before we can get the dog we have to pay the balance of a $4,225 bill. we have questions about the bill as it’s a lot. the woman said, “i’m too busy to deal questions i have more important things to do. we won’t give you the dog until you pay the bill.” We paid the bill. My wife felt like VCA was holding the dog hostage. When i called the next morning to discuss the bill the accounting manager said he would speak with the doctor and get back to me. i waited 7 days, heard nothing, then called again. Our pets are important to us and we want the best for them. in the end our dog had a swollen saliva gland impacting his breathing which ended up popping on its own - took $4,225 for a vet to figure this out.Be prepared to pay a lot of money with VCA.

It is with a heavy heart that I write this post. Our very old chihuahua whom we had for almost 19 years was having difficulty breathing me and my daughter were terrified and started calling every hospital near us and nobody would take him in. Either they were full or they had too many covid restrictions.Untill I called this place and they said to take him in pull up park and call them so they could come out and take our baby. They answered my call very quickly and they took our little Gizmo😔.We were to wait for a call....We waited received the call and they took down my info while the doctor examined him. After that they called me for financial concent and to also tell me my Gizmo was in critical condition and if I authorized financial concent. After all that the doctor calls me with my babys update and it was not good news he was having Congestive heart failure. The doctor was very real and honest she gave me the break down of his health and estimated cost. She kept very calm while I was loosing my mind.I asked her if I could call her back in a few minutes while me and my daughter decided on what to do.We came to a decision and it was to let him go because he was suffering, his heart and lungs were full of water and basically he was drowning.Let me just say he had a long medical history of GI,seizures, infections and blind in one eye etc.etc..Financially I wasnt gonna be able to proceed and the doctor told me that she wanted to let me know that choosing to euthanize him was...I cant remember her exact words but whatever she told me reassured that in this case it was the best thing to do.Even with covid restrictions we were allowed in a room so we could hold him one last time.We sadly didnt have those last moments his health declined quickly and he was passing. We were rushed in to see him. We got to put our hands on him and kiss him and we said our goodbyes as he slowly was put to rest and no more suffering.Everyone around us stayed very calm while me and my daughter were a mess. After he passed we go to hold our little Gizmo one last time for as long as we wanted.I just want to say thank you so much to all the staff and specially the Doctor.

Hello,My name is Tamia McGregor my puppy’s name was cinnamon. She originally came in 04/06/2021 because her eyes were really red. Dr. Moore informed me she did an X ray on cinnamon and she had a fractured humerus which is her joint causing her eyes to be red from trauma. She also mentioned cinnamon would need surgery. They put a splint on cinnamon and prescribed some medication. When I took cinnamon home she seemed to have gotten worse and could barley breath so I took her back 04/09/2021. When the nurse ran out to look at cinnamon breathing the first thing he said was omg the splint looks way too tight, who did this? I immediately looked at him and said “are you serious this was done here”. He looked at me and said “wow this was done here” and then he picked her up looked all around the splint then took her inside. They then wanted a second X ray of her, Later that day the assistant called me saying cinnamon is fine we put her on oxygen and she’s fine now. First thing I said was what about the splint that your nurse mentioned being too tight? Could that have been the reason she could barley breath? She informed me that they were not aware of the reason for her breathing and to just bring her back to see a surgeon Saturday. When I came Saturday 04/10/2021. The surgeon Dr. Sanchez looked at cinnamon and did anotherX ray which would be the third. Dr Sanchez called me later that day saying that “it turns out cinnamon didn’t have a fracture in her joint it was something that was actually not as bad as we had thought”. So I agreed with a second option of just re-bandaging her splint and no surgery. The doctor said ok well we are going to need to sedate her to bandage her again. I told the doctor cinnamon is already too small and still a puppy and absolutely does not need it not to mention she was already unable to move much because of her injury and not in the best condition so she wouldn’t even move anyway. The Doctor insisted that it was not an option and had to be done even though I didn’t want her to get that, so I had no choice if I wanted the doctor to help cinnamon so I agreed. Later that night I picked cinnamon up and the nurse informed me she was going to be out of it for a while and that it’s normal. Later that night about 12:30am I called the vet saying cinnamon is still crying and seem to be still out of it and doesn’t seem normal. So they put me on hold, she came back saying no she is ok and being out of it with the crying is normal just keep giving her medication. That morning when I woke up cinnamon was completely out of it and was barley breathing so I rushed back to the vet hospital. When I got there they said she died. I immediately asked why what happened and all they could say was we don’t know what happened. I hate that this review I’m writing is now about my dog I no longer have due to coming here just to get her re bandaged with a new splint not knowing that it would be the last day I would have my puppy full of life and happiness. This was by far the WORST experience of my life and I would not recommend coming here

Kitten was in and out in under 2 hours and the medication given fixed her right up! They gave us a full description sheet talking about everything they gave her and her treatment plan as well.I walked away very happy but to my surprise they also texted me the next day and followed up on how she was feeling! My dog has been having some issues and after calling a lot of vets, this one was the only one that had an appointment when I needed a cardiologist. Dr. Llamas is a fantastic vet. He has given thorough explanations and makes me feel comfortable to call back if I ever have any issues. Nowadays with covid you do have to wait in your car and talk to the vet over the phone so my rating isnt based on the facility itself as Ive not been able to see it. It is based on the quality of care for my pup as well as how helpful the vet himself has been. Downside? Addmittedly the place is rather expensive but it is convenient and they are there in the case of an emergency.

My husband and I came here after our primary care vet recommended we see an internal medicine specialist for our cat. We could not have been more pleased or had a better experience at this facility. The staff was incredibly friendly, personable, and helpful through the entire process from check in to check out. Prices here are also very fair given that youre getting specialty medical care. Its not cheap, but specialty medical care and the science behind it shouldnt be. Nonetheless, its very fair compared to what other places in the area charge and the services we received were more than worth what was charged. Moreover, our experience with Dr. Broemel was just exceptional. She was methodical, thorough, and took her time getting a history of our cat and with examining him. We were so impressed with how detailed she was, her direct explanations, and how thoughtful she was in terms of going through possible causes and finding a diagnosis. We never felt rushed, either, and felt as though we were her only patient (which, Im sure is not the case and she likely has a very large case load as all vets do). Most of all, she has been so kind and friendly to our family. No one wants to be sent to a specialist because their pet is sick, but she truly made it a positive experience and provided us some of the best veterinarian care weve ever received. We have tremendous gratitude for her, her assistants, and the staff at VCA Advanced. If you end up here with your pet, especially for internal medicine, you are in more than capable hands.

The vets at this hospital are truly the best in every sense of the word; that said, the office staff is terrible. They tend to be “short” or rude on the phone, in my own personal experience (and I’ve been going to this place since 2004) if you have insurance claim forms they don’t complete them properly at all and you have to be on top of them, they’re alway in too big of a hurry to speak to you. I would say, they don’t really care about you. I unfortunately continue to come to this place because the doctors ARE wonderful. The most important thing for me is the quality of the doctors and their expertise. So I bite the bullet and just try to not allow the ladies up in the front get under my skin. I dont write reviews and Im writing this one with a heavy heart but VCA deserves as good of a review as I can give. I brought my epileptic dog there after a massive seizure and sadly he passed but it wasnt before the great nurses and Dr Yi did everything they could. After he passed I was notified while CPR was still being conducted and they were trying everything for my little guy. It wasnt too be but the professionalism, support, and love they showed will stay with me forever. The people here care about the pets and the owners and it should be commended more than this simple post can. If anyone working there reads this post, thank you and know that you make a difference in lives everyday.

They admitted my dog just to tell us he wasn’t “critical” enough to diagnose, and when we asked for any suggestions or advice they wouldn’t give us any and told us to go to a regular vet. It was disappointing service.

You couldnt ask for a more caring and compassionate staff. Took care of me and my furbaby after an accident with kindness and grace. Even sent me a letter of condolence after we had to put her to sleep. I wish they could be my regular vets.

In March 30th 2019, I brought my puppy in with a broken leg. After analyzing my dog’s x-rays, the vet did a wrong diagnosis, he told me that my puppy has a soft tissue issue, nothing serious. They said my dog is a drama queen, so humiliating. Two days later, my dog was not able to move the whole leg, from the shoulder to the paw, he was completely paralyzed.I decided to send the x-rays to another vet who immediately identified multiple fractures. (1.5 month later, my puppy can use his leg again:)I contacted this hospital by email right after I got the right diagnosis, and they were suddenly very quite...So upset!

Ive passed by this place thousands of time but never thought i would have to take my dog there. My dog freaked out in her dog crate and messed her teeth up bad. It was so bad that there was blood everywhere and i didnt know what to do. I was a wreck as i googling places to take my dog after 9pm. This place popped up and i said call them. Thank God, they were able to see my dog. Ill never forget that night. It was raining and my dog looked out of it.I dont know who i spoke to that night, but i would like to thank you for calming me down as i crying on the phone trying to figure out what i should do...i usually dont cry on the phone with people i dont know but i couldnt hold back my tears or the hurt. They are pricey but to be honest they care. They talk to you like youre family. But they are also a 24 hour emergency place so i cant complain. My best friend......is doing much better. Thank you everyone...

My terrier mix Charlie was involved in a terrible accident while traveling on Christmas day last year. I was told by multiple vets that Charlie would have to have at least one of his back legs amputated. I had scheduled an appointment with a surgeon at a different location, but when Charlies bandages and casts came off the night before that appointment we were rushed into VCA. It was there that Charlie and I met Dr. DCG and the wonderful staff at VCA. I cant say enough wonderful things. Charlie was treated like a celebrity there. Each vet I came in contact with truly showed compassion to my little guy. The front desk staff were caring, accommodating and very friendly. Two surgeries later, Charlie is running and jumping like he was prior to his accident all due to the wonderful people at VCA on Hawthorne!

I simply cant say enough good things about this practice. As a veterinarian, there are certain things I cant do. That is when I turn to AVCC for help. I have referred complicated cases to their phenomenal doctors. But I think what speaks most for them is that the moment something difficult goes wrong with my animals, I jump in the car and take them to Advanced. My newest cat Tidus saw Dr Waterman a few weeks ago in congestive heart failure. Through his prognosis remains grim, under her excellent care he feels fantastic and behaves like a kitten. Dr Waterman was incredibly warm and sensitive with our little man-cat. I hope she is his cardiologist for a long time!! So, so very blessed to have Advanced as a partner in my animals care.

Sweet, Very caring office staff from the time you walk in the door, throughout the entire experience. I brought in my cat Cameo, who stopped eating and drinking became severely dehydrated, very near death. The Pet Techs were very kind & gentle handling my cat..Dr. Ogle is the best created a treatment plan: IV therapy, vital signs lab work close monitoring and observation, medications antibiotics appetite stimulant all saved Cameo! Thank you Dr. Ogle, thank you Pet Techs, thank you Janelle & Lelani, thank you everybody else that helped me face this crisis of treating Cameo versus putting her to sleep. Keep up the outstanding work and supportive care that you provide pet owners. I recommend the Lawndale CA hospital highly for any pad emergencies. Its a little pricey but emergency care isnt cheap for humans either

Pricey, but worth it. Dr. Elizabeth Yi is the greatest. I took in my tiny cat, Blanche, for severe breathing problems and sneezing blood. She wouldnt eat, play or act like herself. Dr. Yi was very delicate with her while trying to determine what was wrong. After a few days of refusing food she suggested an esophageal feeding tube so as to avoid hepatic lipidosis (and possibly death). While under anesthesia Dr. Yi took the initiative to clean out Blanches very congested nasal cavity and it made all the difference! After coming home, I had to medicate and tube-feed Blanche the way they showed me, and in the end my happy little maniac Blanche is back to racing around the house, terrorizing the big dog and everyone else, and again, I have Dr. Elizabeth Yi to thank for her tireless care and concern and her two daily updates on my little cats progress over those first few uncertain days.Bonus: the front staff was 100% GREAT and caring every step of the way, and they even managed to swing me a Care Credit account with a $7200 opening limit. I wish they were affordable enough to be my regular vets! Heaven forbid my pets need emergency vet care again, but if they do, this will be the place.

Very bad! Im really disappointed. The nurses are big liers. On Friday 05-12-17 I had took my kitten Vet hospital care and they told me my kitten was going to be ok. They really did not charge me alot. The next day one of my friend came to my house and advise me to take her here at VCA Advanced Veterinary Care for my kitten to get cure fast. I took my kitten the next day after and they ask me for my permission on what I wanted them to do. They ask me if I wanted them to do an Emergency exam Radio graphs, X- rays to see what was wrong with my kitten, and Cpr to have my kitten alive. I said yes because I really wanted my kitten to be ok. While they was treating my kitten they had me sitting on a room and a nurse came in to tell me what was wrong with my kitten. Next minute another nurse came in to tell me they discover another disease inside my kitten. Every minute they would tell me they had discovered alot of bad things my kitten had. They told me if I wanted them to keep doing different treatment but they was going to charge me more. I was confused and they was rushing me to make a decision. They ask me if I wanted them to stop treating my kitten or keep going to help cure my kitten. They kept telling me that they had discovered different disease. I know my kitten was sick but I know the doctors lie and say stuff for me to pay more. So I told them to stop and that I was going to take my kitten home and they told me that if I take my kitten home she was going to die. They told me that if I agree if I wanted them to continue they was going to try keep her alive but they was going to charge me more. The First time I went to another vet hospital they told me a different story they told me that my kitten was sick and she was going to be ok and they gave me medication. I am very sad because I had made a decision to put my kitten asleep because I didnt wanted her to go through pain 😢💔 VCA nurses are big liers be careful because they are going to want to trick you
