Things are different now because of covid. I came here needing an issue resolved. Times are hard and we are making less and less as the weeks go by. I came here expecting to wait the normal 3 plus hours to speak with a worker but they are helping people at the door. I was lucky to get here when only 1 couple was in line. The person i spoke with was so helpful. I have never experienced a worker trying to help as much as this wonderful indevidual. I rushed away and didnt get her name because the line was getting very long. I was left with her needing to call me later which is totally fine. I would rather she do that then rush through my situation. I am extremely hopeful and thankful that i was assisted by someone so willing to see my side of the issue.

I got a phone call from one of the person that work with snap cases! She treat me so badly! She even insisted to find out how come the father of the kids does not pay for child support! Does she think I’m just applying for some help just like that? Alot of people suffer because of this panademic and not that we don’t get extra funds fir government after we lost our jobs but we also have to deal with those kind of people who think they run the world and then she is laughing because I told her if she doesn’t want to extend my snap she can do what ever! And I’m talking in behalf of all the parents out there who are struggling with loss job and not having any help! This is not a jock and the worker from Welfare should take this more serious.

Jaime Byrd helped me this afternoon. Jaime was kind, respectful, Excellent in the Service she provided. Jaime did not rush or look around, but what I noticed that she kept eye contact.The DWSS Durango District Office, should be honored to have Jaime Byrd at Durango Location.This is my 2nd visit at this location and at each time, Ive been extremely expressed with the Services they offer here.Oh, very clean office and bathroom (women). You must be patient when you come to this location. The employees here take their job very seriously. Unfortunately, their job is to make it as difficult as possible for you to receive any benefits. The goal, of course, is to make it so difficult that you give up and just go away and die. Do dont give up. Keep coming back, keep getting in their faces, keep demanding what is due to you.

If I was able to give zero stars I would. Initially it would have been a 5 star rating. As a service for the public welfare the staff here are not knowledgeable when it comes to people who are self employed. Our initial case worker seemed to want to help at my first appointment and when I asked questions on how to properly fill out the forms and documents via email because she said I could send her the documents by dropbox she brushed me off stating that there was no way to determine what expenses are mine on my bank statements and what was business related. I had figured it would be as simple as when I file my taxes(which is surprising much easier than filing for medical assistance for my family) and instead of finding a solution Im emailed to call customer service which doesnt take calls after the time she emails me on a Friday. Here I am being proactive and this is the help Im receiving, which now I have to wait until Monday morning to call to see if there is someone in customer service who can help me find a solution, I understand the staff may not understand how a small home business claim expenses since they get a regular paycheck stub, but would it not make sense that if Ive been filing my taxes as so for over the last 5 years that how I file my taxes shows what my expenses are? This is what my hard earned money that I have been paying towards taxes for almost 20 years is going to. To say I am disappointed would be an understatement.

The office is very helpful. However, one of the caseworkers voiced her opinion of how cheap my bills were compared to hers. I couldnt believe she actually said that. She went beyond the necessary steps to get my case processed and messed my case up, so I had to go through another caseworker to get it all straightened up again. Smh.

If you have the chance to go somewhere else please do so. Over 4 an a half hour wait. Had a new trainee that informed me wrong and no one looked over her work. On top of that they lie. What i mean is when i came back the next day they tried to tell me i make too much (with three kids) and added more income than we actually had on our pay stubs. Also told me to come back with the wrong information. Whoever i met with loved to hear herself talk, it was then i knew i should get my food stamp assistance but would not get anywhere with an unhelpful, inefficient employee who I pay for.

They never answer their phones! I’ve waited an hour for them to answer! It’s so ridiculous! Don’t ever get into a position that you have to call them, because they are horrible! Now they aren’t even answering and threatening to take all my benefits because I can’t all. Most horrible place to deal with.

Dont like my name showing but oh well. June 12th, I wasnt aware they were training so it was a 4-Hour wait bcuz they were Very short staffed but this isnt a compaint, just fact.This review is 4 Carolyn. Idk if we got someone else if they wouldve shown the same compassion & patience she did w/me. Im on disability & I do suffer from anxiety disorders & get overwhelmed very easily esp w/#s. She saw that & she took the time 2 slow down, explaining it slowly & my anxiety went down. Carolyn didnt get upset, she was very kind & let me know what I need 2 bring back bcuz I wasnt fully prepared but thats on me. Also gave my bro the form 2b my advocate bcuz hes a genius w/#s & understands everything I dont. So if u get Carolyn, u get a big smile, genuine help & lots of positivity quotes on her desk.🙂

Ive never been one to apply to things like this, but I got in a bad way this 2017 year. I had no job, tooth loss which made it harder to find a decent job as there arent many employers who want to hire someone who looks like a toothless drug addict, a young daughter with Epilepsy and having seizures left and right, and he father refused to help so...I swallowed my pride and went. Now Ive experienced these places before and they are typically dirty and nothing less than chaotic, the people who work there are typically rude people who look down on you and only want to do the bare minimum. This place, was completely different. They were empathetic, kind, did what they could to help me immediately and I walked out of there with a strong sense of relief. So to them, I want to say thank you for being one of the very few people/places in this God Forsaken World...who actually seem to want to do your jobs and do it very well. I will never forget it.

Honestly the only bad thing I can say about this place is when you first walk into the building and are not familiar, there aren’t many directions to where you need to go. No one greets you or directs you. Once I figured it out, I got in line and there were 3 people available and not one acknowledged me. They were having a conversation until I made it known I was there. Once I was called the one black lady called me to her station and was very rude and rolled her eyes at me. Once I got my applications filled out everything was good.

Very lazy people. Seems like they do everything not to help you. I had madicaid last year,which I did not even used as healthcare is terrible in USA anyways. Only been used once during the emergency,and been given to me at the same time for the same exact purpose. Received a latter saying update info,so I visited an office. Obviously I no longer qualify for renewal,which I can get over as not using it anyways. But lorie,the person helping me (I might misspelled the name), seemed more like ignorant and jealous that someone has better job then she does...sorry...

My last experience was very displeasing. The worker I was given was extremely rude adidnt let me finish one sentence statement or word. She made me feel like she was belittling me just because I needed assistance for being laid off recently due to medical issues. I even asked to speak to another case worker and she denied me that I asked again and told her why while still being respectful and her stride just got worse she made me so upset I started crying and left... I came back 20 min later got back in line let them know what happened waited another hour to see someone and the experience was way better. The recent case worder didnt Even know why she was asking so many unnecessary questions Or why she withdrew me

My cousin went here for help she has a diabled son she has ptsd and started having a episode so she tried sitting away from everyone their was a desk near her with two seats she saw another person take a chair so she asked a employee they said yes but if they need it to return it which she did when 2 mins later they needed it the employee was very rude to her my cousin overhead them talking about her so my cousin explained twice apologizing all over a chair might i add their were plenty of other empty ones very dissapointed in the way she was treated

Awful experience. Dont come to this location until after 2pm. I here right now. And there are 23 windows with only 2 things helping the guests out. At 12pm, almost the whole staff goes to lunch for 2 hours. I got here at 1130 with just 14 people waiting to see the useless reprenstatives that work for the Welfare Department. And its 1:30 pm and we are still waiting. There are just 2 people pretending to work for Welfare Department right now. This is a joke and a complete waste of time. People pay taxes each year to supplement these employees paychecks. And if the general public came to see how poorly this Welfare Department runs, people would stop taxes. These employees are taking paid 2 hour lunch breaks and making all the guests continue to wait in line. I think ABC, Fox 5, NBC, and CBS Local news ought to come down here and do a live broadcast of the sutuation. That way locals who live in Las Vegas can see how awful these government officials treat the guests.

Do not come here between 11am-1pm. Apparently everyone here takes lunch at the same time and you will not be called up until they are all back. As a business woman, lunch for staff should be spread out to avoid long wait times.

Yeah its clean and located in a nice area HOWEVER the 3 workers including supervisor Diana wasnt very helpful. The first 2 workers were plain rude, unprofessional, judgemental, disrespectful and I wasnt having it. I ultimately had to speak with supervisor Diana who was much nicer than the 2 workers but she choose NOT to accept one of the documents I provided to support what was on my application. They take things too personal as if theyre providing the assistance themselves. Its offensive and ridiculous! Im a military spouse separated from my husband, brand new to the state and I just need a little help in the interim of finding employment. Everyone doesnt abuse the system. Most ppl want to work and provide for themselves and their children but sometimes the circumstances doesnt permit. Dont shut ppl down for applying for assistance thats available to us. They should also be trained to have more compassion towards applicants. If you speak to me with attitude Ill give it back times 10! Wrong one ladies. I wouldve been better off lying about my circumstances, maybe I couldve at least got the help I needed for my son and myself.

I visited this office on a Friday (in the middle of the month) afternoon about 2. I was afraid that I had waited too long to arrive and wouldnt be seen (at the Henderson office Ive had to wait 6 hours to be seen before) but I was called back just about 15 minutes after I was finished with my paperwork. The woman I worked with was very pleasant and didnt make me feel like a nitwit when I asked silly questions.There was only one little problem I had (which may seem silly to others) that I wish had been taken care of. There was a woman who was screaming and cursing at her boyfriend very loudly and at one point punched him extremely hard in the solar plexus right in front of the security guard. The only thing security said to her the entire time we were there was to tell her to get off of her phone. Now I understand it isnt the securitys job to police relationships but when someone is yelling, being disruptive and physically assulting another person (in a government building no less) he should have stepped in. I have PTSD and was really triggered by the event and if it werent for the fact that I desperately needed to have the appointment that day I would have run out of there in double time. The security guards lack of concern is the reason for the docked star, every other person I spoke with in the office was very warm and helpful.
