Thank you to the wonderful staff who was so compassionate and kind to us. My dog passed away on the way to the emergency vet at night time and they helped assist us. They were above and beyond in caring and kindness. I got both my girls from the shelter years ago here. The three ladies and the man on the phone thank you for your kindness in such a hard time you guys are amazing, and wonderful people!
I found a cat and i called lancaster animal shelter if they take lost cat. The lady told me yes they do. I went same day and i was told by thus guy they dont take lost cats and the and i should cut it loose at the same place where i find her since the city allowed the cats to be roaming . Im not sure how true that is . can anyone tell me is ths guy statment is true. I will call tomorrow and speek to the manger and see.
After seeing a cute kitten posted to their Instagram, i went to the website and came across a different cat- he was curious and confident in his photo and i needed to meet him. I sent an email and after a few days, they gave me an appointment to meet him. When i arrived at my appointment i was a little early but then they took me right back to meet Mick, and he was perfect. I played with him for a few minutes in a little plexiglass room, and then he was whisked off to the on-site vet for FIV/FLV testing at my request. It came back negative, and shortly after i was taking care of the paperwork and adoption fee. Please dont let the appointments put you off if youre looking to adopt! It all went really smoothly and the staff was wonderful! You cant just go by on a whim, but honestly, you shouldnt take on a new pet on a whim anyway.Highly recommended! Im thrilled to have a new kitty member of my family!
The place is kept clean but the workers dont seem to know much about whats going on. There were a lot of dogs but literally there were only about 8 dogs that were ready for adoption, and the majority of the dogs were pit bulls. They did however have a pot belly pig 🐖 that I adopted. The fee was $60.00.
Its the pound. Wth is there to rave about? Long sad faces on some of Gods best creatures that exist. Puhleez.
Was very helpful n courtesy service all the way threw very patient since Im hard of hearing....even when when they came out they were so good n helpful .thank you for all youre help...Id recommend you to anyone
Amazing staff willing to do whatever it takes to provide you with excellent service
I rescued my beautiful Belgian malinois German Shepherd mix 7 years ago and I never regretted it. Mentally helping me through the tough times and enjoying the good. Best decision I ever made. Please keep rescuing these beautiful dogs. Thank you for the people that work here I can only imagine how difficult it is when dogs get returned or abandoned. Keep up the good work.
The Team is Grrreat!❤🐺
For a dog pound its pretty cool.
I took my kitten to the spay and neuter clinic. They are very nice. I am giving one star due to the fact that I called the office to let them know I was running late from work to pick up my baby after having surgery done. . To my surprise, I got there at 5: 15 and was told by one of the staff that it wasn’t possible to take him home because everybody from the office was gone for the day. I was instructed to come back the next day at 10 am. So, I went to pick him up the next morning, and the front office staff asked me why I hadn’t pick him up the day before. I explained to her, and the answer was that they could and should have been able to do the paper work to have him release after 5 because they are still there and know how to do the process. I guess someone was lazy to run an extra mile and release him to me. I was charged $18 for the over night stay. It is not a whole lot of money, but in today’s financial situation every penny counts. And I did show up to pick him up, but I do realize I was 15 minutes late. But, as stated before 2 staff people were still at the office.
This animal care shelter was wonderful. I was impressed by the staff. Very caring people with very clean facilities. Could definitely use some new paint, but I was very impressed with the facility, and the staff. I thought it would take much longer to adopt, but we are already home and my cat is already checking out the new living space. Thank you so much.
Was there for my daughter and her family to pick up there new family member. A 8 mo female German Shepherd. All are very happy😁
Best place to adopt your new family member. Since the pandemic things have changed but they have safety measures in place and plenty of animals to adopt. Please be patient with the process, the people that work there are great and genuinely care.
I adopted my sweet pomeranian girl on Wednesday 10/15/20.. Everyone at the Lancaster shelter was wonderful.. Very clean and it was a wonderful experience! I drove a hour away to adopt her I named her Hazel! ❤️
Great customer service..friendly like the animals
We drove all the way from Agoura based on a picture of a dog. All we really wanted to do was see the dog in the yard before we adopted him. We were there at 9:30am to make sure we were 1st in line. We were told if we waited until 10am we could see the dog but some else could adopt him. If we wanted him we could just pay for him site unseen. It was crazy. We did pay for him before seeing him but then they would not let us see him in the yard. They just walked him out and said here is your dog. We asked to have time with him before we drove back. They said no he is yours now. It was so strange. We are so lucky the dog is great. The one problem we found was they did not give us enough pain meds for him after fixing him. It was only half the dose. He was having a lot of additional pain from it. We feel very luck to have just gone with a feeling and took him home. He fit perfectly in with our other 2.
Old shelter that needs lots of help. Some workers are awesome and very helpful. Some workers are disgruntled and short tempered. Facilaty is old and in need of upgrades. Please urge the county to stop cut backs on this very necessary shelter that does what it can to help and facilitate animals. There is a big problem with cats and dogs in this country we the people have created through breeding and selfishness. Show your support for the Lancaster animal care facility through donations and volunteering.
If anyone has seen a small dog black and white his name is Oreo he hasnt been seen all day and my family is worried because hes an old dog. He was seen on lancaster blvd between west 20 and west 15 st
They had my friends dog. She was erratic and crying uncontrollably. They let her see the dog for a good long time. Theyre accommodating and understanding. I kinda wish they werent so nice to my over-the-top friend, but thats what good service is about, right?
I was trying to adopt a kitten but the process was very lengthy. It took them awhile to get back to me about an appointment and I never made it past this point with them. It took about 2-3 weeks until I finally gave up with them and filled out an application for adoption with the Kern county animal shelter. Definitely worth going there. They got me an appointment in under 5 minutes. The process was way quicker than with the LA animal shelter. I dont recommend them.
Do not give your pet got adoption to these people..they are liars..they just told me they 1,000 applications to go through but are not calling people back..they just admitted everyone sends in duplicates because get no response yet..Ive been trying to adopt for a month..the animals are getting put sleep!!! They cant process paper work!!!! Not enough staff was her excuse...EVIL liars never give your pet to them
Very helpful staff. Very clean
Question are they taking in dogs now? I call and I cant get answer where to find out if they are or not
Very attentive and caring staff at this facility.
I dont understand why people have such an issue calling and talking to someone. Just follow the prompts! I have called twice now, and they have been very professional and helpful on the phone. We have scheduled a visit with one of the dogs later this week, and cant wait. Honestly, if you dont have the patience and brain capacity to navigate a simple phone service, then you dont have any business adopting an animal. Also, learn how to spell. Some of these reviews are so embarrassingly ignorant.
While its sad to see so many stray and abandoned animals, its great to see that the staff care about the animals in their care.
I went here to get a kitten or a young cat and I bring it home to actually inspect the kitten to make sure everything was okay, and this cat had a hernia in the umbilical cord/ belly button area. And hearing constant meowing all night long. Even when I cared for it. They said he was good to go... But I took him back for another. And I am kinda glad I did. Because I found the perfect animal for me. He wont lay on you or your lap like my last one but he is getting more lovable every day. I feel like his last owners neglected him and his social skills. But it is getting better.
Some employees seems not to be happy with their job and answer customers questions rudly. too much trouble seeing a dog and hundreds of phone calls for appointment but none of the posted dogs were available. Why posting in accurate info and have hard time answering the phones.
Theres not enough Stars, me and my horses broke down in a Walmart parking lot, it was my truck, I have had bad experiences in the past with people in General I just dont trust anyone, but a thank you too the staff and especially Sergeant Rachel she gave me her word and she kept her word this is one amazing woman they took my horses gave them a safe place fed them watered them and took care of them till I got my truck fixed the staff there helps to load my Thoroughbred Mare angel who does not like to be loaded in the trailer everybody has been kind and understanding to the fact that I have trust issues when it comes to people in general but I would trust sergeant Rachel with my horses anytime, the staff 2, if you are ever in need or in trouble please call them, help support this wonderful please, staff, and animals they help and the people that love them,Thank You Sergeant Rachel, you are the BEST, I know that there are good people out here, honest people you are just hard to find, with much love Ramsay,Angel,Marry, DeeDea,LynnKeep the beautiful heart you have, all of you,
This is a larger, more outdoor facility with an almost barracks setup. Small dogs are in 1 barracks, larger dogs are in a few of the barracks. There are visiting areas to spend time with the animals. The front counter and waiting room are a bit cramped when its busy, but overall its ok. The staff are pleasant overall. This is a slightly older facility, but the animal care and housing areas are kept well. Overall its a wonderful facility. Overall its a little hard to understand the adoption process, unless you are the first person who wants to adopt an animal that is not available to adopt already. But the venue will offer you some great and varied choices in adopting your new pet.
Very nice.
Helpful professional staff. Older gentleman is a bit iffy though.
Although it was closed to the public. You can call and make an appointment for your needs. I was told theres a website if you want to see the animals in the shelter. I was helped curbside and I received all the help I needed from the very helpful security guard. I wish I had gotten his name.
Normally this place gets 5 stars. But Covid happened. Now they want to us to make an appointment to adopt a pet. Yet, you cant. The phone number given is just information over and over the same stuff but no human or even a place to leave a message.
Horrible service, i have been trying for MONTHS to get a dog from this shelter and no matter how many times i call and email to get an appointment with them, i never manage to get an appointment or i am told a dogs list is full even if the dog has been there for a long period of time. not to mention how rude the staff can be whenever i call to ask questions. its been impossible to adopt a pet. i have more luck getting a stray right off the street then i do with the animal shelter at this point.
Great place to adopt animals
The guy got to adopt a nice dog and they do have more there that needs to be adopted so any body in lancaster adopt a dog please they need you.
Friendly, hard-working people, but it is a pain to adopt now due to the pandemic. You must go through steps to take an animal.Step 1 Go to their website. View their animals. Decide on 2 or 3 animals and write down the number assigned. You can filter by location, type, and an assortment of other filters.Step 2 Call the animal shelter, which is a call center. I had to wait for a few minutes to talk to someone. I gave her the numbers for the animals I considered adopting. She looked them up and told me if they were available. I went to the bottom of the list and chose from animals that were past their adoption date. The ones at the top are usually not ready for adoption if you want something right away. If your choices are not available, go back to step 1. My option was available, so she put me in touch with the animal shelter. I called after hours. Dont hang up. I was still on the phone with the call center. The animal shelter did not answer, so the call center lady sent an email. The shelter got back to me at 7:55 a.m. the next day. We scheduled an appointment for that very day.Step 3 GO to your appointment. They only make one appointment per day per animal. Dont be a no show. Nobody else can make an appointment for that animal once one has been made. When we arrived, it was standard pandemic rules. We waited outside for our turn—only one customer inside at a time. Yes, you can bring your family. We had to know how our new pet would act around our kids. They sanitized after every customer, and we had to wear masks. They took us back for a meet and greet. We liked our selection and had her home soon after. We only paid $20 and got shots and a microchip. She said it was a discount. Please, adopt! There are so many unwanted animals that need a home. They make the best pets, once they realize you are going to keep them for life.
Very clean location animals are very well cared for and customer service was excellent
Eunice was amazing and helpful. I wi never be able to thank her enough
Very nice staff. We dropped off supplies for the animals - blankets, sweaters, treats.
I am writing this review in great hope that it will shift the consciousness of anyone that is considering dumping their animal at an animal shelter that euthanizes animals. I know that you are probably thinking that someone will adopt your pet, or that some fantastic rescue group will step in and save your dog just in the nick of time. How I wish it were true that every single animal that sits in a kill shelter would be saved from taking their final breath waiting for a forever home that never materialized. If you truly love your animal and can’t keep them for whatever reason, I ask that you do everything in your power to find them a loving forever home. As a volunteer at an animal shelter I can tell you that the most beautiful, loving, trustworthy, friendly animals in our communities are losing their lives there, don’t fool yourself into believing that they only euthanize feeble old animals, everyone is fair game, and everyone needs to be moved along to make room for the new batch of animals that are constantly coming through the shelter doors. The shelters will tell you what can we do? We have no choice but to euthanize, this is a problem created by society, we’re cleaning up their mess by destroying these animals. Shelters will continue doing business this way. It’s up to us as citizens to step up to the plate and take care of our animals until they are old, there isn’t a day that goes by that they don’t give us every ounce of love that is inside of them, they run to the door to happily greet us when we get home from work, they cheer us up on our saddest days, and they are happy to share every minute of their lives with us. Don’t turn your back on your animal and betray them by dumping them at an animal shelter that kills animals.Sincerely,Patty Jackson
Just wanted to ask if I have to wait until an animal is available before I can schedule a meet n greet, I’ve been on hold for 35 minutes. I know it’s Saturday and the coronavirus has changed things but cheese and crackers, how long does it take to schedule an appointment.
Staff allow rescue groups to reserve ALL small dogs before being available to the public. I have been trying to get a fur baby for a year. They wont allow me to reserve. Told only rescue groups have priority. I have been to these rescue groups. I cant afford $400-500. My last adoption was 15 years ago. My Cairn died last July. This is the breed that l desire. A neighbor got one from Palmdale, before Covid-19. This is very sad. I even offered to foster, I got a reply... NO pets meeting my criteria. Not even to foster.
The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable, I went there for a tour with my scout troop, and they were kind and seem to take pretty good care of the animals. Though, five years ago I adopted the sweetest little kitten, they said he was fine but he came home with ringworm. He was fine after a few weeks of medication but it would have been nice if they had told us he wasnt fully healthy.
Great experience here. I found my best friend on this shelter
Quick! Come save all the animals. It is really hard finding homes for all of these animals due to the growing pet sales industry. If you dont help get these animals a place to live, most of them will be put to sleep. Every animal Ive ever owned has been a rescue and they are the most loving creatures you will ever know.
Ive always been able to depend on them, to take strays I bring in and put them up for adoption.
The staff is super friendly and the kennels are pretty clean for how big the premises is. I was also very impressed with how loving towards the animals the staff is. I would definitely recommend this facility to anyone looking to adopt a pet.
Sad to see so many fur babies.
I had surrendered my dog but I went back 4 days later to let them know I wanted him back. They said they would put a hold on him for 2 weeks and then he would be available for adoption to anyone else. Well my 2 weeks was up on July 28th. They were charging me $18 per day plus other fees, made it impossible for me to get my dog back. Was saving up the cash to be able to get him and when I looked online he wasn’t there. I called and they told me he was euthanized, they didn’t give him enough time to be seen by other possible owners, he wasn’t given a chance. They didn’t have the courtesy of calling us knowing we wanted him back to let us know he would be put down. If I could give them 0 stars I would. I understand they can’t keep all dogs there but there’s others pit bulls they have had longer, why because they are nicer to look at? My children and i are heartbroken.
Smells bad even if they clean. Some of the animals look sick as well. But the staff is nice and they do try to keep it all together. This place is always busy
I lost my dog to this shelter. Would have cost me 800 dollars plus other fees to get him back. Definitely wont ever want to take an animal here. He was amazing. He didnt deserve to die.
I have lots of fond memories of the adoption of our first family dog. We will always adopt.
Not sure what to think of this place. Just moved here, my dog got out the fenc one time and found her self here at this facility and they wanted 200$ to get my dog back. They spayed, neutered, chipped and vaccinated my dog. In which I am completely against. Not that Im a breeder at all but feel a dogs natural state of being is better then the care they want to give and put into my dog. Vaccines chips surgery they give you no control at all. Sounds like Pet Nazis in California with all these rules, sad! They should have given some kind of options, but gave none, LA countys word was final! The staff was great and friendly and helped us out, but just feel so violated for what they did to my dog. Since shes been home she is not the same happy puppy she now seems depressed and sick not cool at all! #Pet Nazis 🐕 smh!
One of the nicest shelters I have visited. Lots of dogs to choose from, all sizes and colors. The kennels were clean, and the staff very helpful. Unfortunately I we did not find our forever dog here today.
They adopted out a dog and didnt even notify us so basically we went out when we didnt even need to and basically wasted our time and gas!!
If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I think the so animal care centers dont want to let their poor animals go to loving homes. They wouldnt let us adopt a dog because our apartment supposedly doesnt allowed big animals. All my neighbors have dogs including big dogs. I wanted a dog and it wasnt as big as my neighbors dog he has a huge saint bernard I wanted a pitbull. I think they just want to keep their animals so they can put them down for the money. Every animal deserves a loving home. My husband and I are good people. We went to their 4 facilities and they always have an excuse why we cant get a dog. Our landlord said if we wanted a dog we needed to pay extra on the insurance we said thats fine. But this people here make me so mad not allowing us to get one. We been on many waiting lists to try to get one. So frustrating and disappointing.
Good stafff
They wouldnt let me get my dog back.
It was delicious. I loved the decor. Very nice. I had Mexico City tacos. Carne asada was very tender and great flavor.
They do not inform you about conditions and requirements with the animals until its time to pick them up. They waste your time. The Palmdale animal shelter is way better because they are a cleaner facility.
Cause I got a new adorable yorkie Mix puppy.
I went to the shelter to adopt a cat sadly the kitten i was interested in had worms so hubby and i started looking at dogs for are other dog we adopted from Palmdale shelter to play with we found a dog name rocky we adopted him i thought i would have to pay around $100-$140 i told hubby i dont have the money in my bank we talk to them and we adopted him for $50 hubby was super happy about
I would like to say the facilities were clean and maintained when I went! They had heaters running and most of the dogs were wearing sweaters, and all of them had beds and blankets. While adopting our dog we ran into a licensing issue the supervisor who handled it was calm and respectful and listened to my issues and concernes. I appreciated how patient and kind everyone is. They do care about the animals and want them to go to good and loving homes. You can tell by looking at them that they do. I’m sure it’s a hard job and they deal with a lot of BS! Over all satisfied with my experience with the staff here! Thank you for your services & happy holidays.
We went on a Saturday to adopt a young cat and had no issues. Everything was clean and the kittys were healthy. We ended up getting 2 x 4 month old cats from the same litter. They had clearly been well cared for. Ive already taken them to the vet who has given them a clean bill of health. Although the wait was a bit long when we got there Tuesday to pick them up, the staff was helpful and as efficient as I could ask for.
Ive been checking it out looking for a dog for a while now...The staff is friendly.... Helpful..Obviously care about the animals in their charge..They spend time with them, are caring .... Interact with them regularly ...
Not so happy we were looking forward to adopting a puppy but we werent able to we had to log in the web see if the puppy we wanted was available and make an appointment that was the only way
So, so happy that they were willing to accept the pit bull that we found. We went to 2 other shelters that said she would be put down! The staff is also so nice.
Feel in Love with about 6 of THE DOGS But 2 got My Attention A Mini Terrtpoodle and a Toy Poodle 1 and owner was coming for and another Had 6 people ahead of me I want The Mini Terrier But Oh Well cannot do
Awesome staff, very friendly and helpful, so many dogs and cats to choose from. Hopefully everyone gets a chance to go see their facilities.
Came here to look for some dogs to adopt. They were cute and healthy. Unfortunately some were not available for adoption. Staffs were friendly by the way.
Alit of people give this shelter bad ratings but honestly I loved it they went above and beyond to assist me on getting my dog back. I thought it was going to cost me more than $300 but I only paid $157.50. Thank you!!!
This is a very nice shelter. The dog runs were clean and the staff was super friendly and efficient. I adopted a well-groomed poodle last Sunday. Babettes intake photo shows a filthy, matted coat. The fact that the staff and/or volunteers took time and money to professionally groom Babette for potential adopters speaks volumes. I couldnt be happier with my new family member. :)
Very helpful security/ help desk man. Hard to hear ladies behind glass. But it is super efficient and convenient for a government office!
My dogs got out while visiting family in Lancaster. We found our dogs on the website but it showed one in Lancaster and one in Palmdale. It was odd but they were both picked up the day they went missing. They were both the age of my missing dogs. One male one female. Everything matched. I gathered my pictures and shot record for both puppies and drive 2.5 hours to the shelter. Soon as we arrived at the Palmdale shelter they asked for pictures to prove it was our pup. I showed them. The lady explained she was picked up by someone out of town found her and turned her in then she asked me to hold on. She brought another lady from the back who looked at our pictures then sent us to the kennel to see the pup. She was in a bottom corner kennel with another dog. They said we could not get to close and could not touch her or take her out. Anyway we could tell it was her So we went up front to see what needed to be done to get her. Now there was a different woman who said she didnt believe she was our dog, and that all dogs look alike and pictures dont mean anything. She now had a different story saying she was an owner surrender so it couldnt have been ours and beside she was scheduled for adoption the next day and if I wanted I could add my name to the waiting list.So I dont know if they make more money adopting the puppies then letting the owners get them back but they wouldnt let me get her back. Why would I drive hours away with pictures matching that puppy to steal it? Theres plenty of dogs in other shelters I just wanted mine back. I had her pictures and shot records. She was too young to have the rabies shot and to be licenced.
I go here regularly for their low-cost shot clinic on rotating Sundays. The employees are efficient, and informational and nice. There is not a lot of parking, but the area is very clean in and around the parking lot and main building.
Covid safety practices.
I dont have any experiance with this place...only what is currently going on and what I see on social media. And from previous reviews I see they are all about money. Someone is trying to foster and rescue an abandoned dog which they have named Muffin yet you guys are refusing to release the dog. We have video footage. You claim its aggressive. Which is not what we see. It looks abandoned and scared. You guys are a disgrace and should be shut down.
The computerized phone system is too long winded and keeps dropping calls. Hire more people to answer your phones in person. When I did finally get through, the response time from the field operative was quite reasonable.
Shirley shows more interest in telling you where exactly to stand and in running a person to and from there vehicles several times to get the dog, take the dog back get back get the dog and then take the dog back. All the while is obvious that not being from the state if California, that I had no understanding of the ordinances are what was required deadlines etc. She simply started ordering me around the moment that I walked on the door, when she directed me to stand in front of her, but 1 step over from where I already stood, I thought it was to have my picture taken, and the Saga began from there, until I asked for a Superior, she even gave me the run around on that until I persisted. Controlling Personalities should not take on Customer Service positions serving the General public!
Very nice staff. When to get license for my 2 dogs. Very easy process to get license just have to take proof of rabies vaccine and documentation of spayed or nutured pet.
Daisy and I found each other there. She has become my service dog. Best one so far. Love this place, friendly and helpful.
Im writing this review simply for an EXTREMELY flawed policy of the shelter and in hopes this policy is changed ASAPI went in to check the availability and adopt a dog that was at the shelter. It was the second day the dog was available. I went to ask about him and the receptionist told me that there were 2 other people that put a hold on the dog and were going to come back in 3-4 days. This dog was petrified and shaking hysterically. He was obviously not adjusting well and I was ready to take him home immediately into a good, loving home. Now, I can understand if the dog was getting his shots and spayed/neutered when someone came to put a hold on him as he was unavailable at that time and they were planning to come the day he became available. However, once the dog is available it should be first come first serve. This should be an obvious policy. What the shelter now creates is a deterrence as the people with the hold on the animal might not come back and i might adopt elsewhere. It also creates a quicker opening for the shelter and takes the dogs out of there.I think management needs to wake up and use common sense when creating policies.
That are taking much better care of the animals these days. But it is still hard to see them all caged. I just want to take them all home.
They were very helpful and professional about our problems with feral cats. They took in the sick feral kittens, cleaned them up and gave them medical attention to put them up for adoption. Adorable kitties now in a safe loving home
A month ago receptionist was very rude I was IP 4th in line wait so passion to adopt german shepherd because my ID was Expire I had to go back to the house Porvide her a paper dmv gave me use for wild. when I came back she has someone adopt the dog already But When I adopted my dog at palmdale the lady didn’t care if my ID was Expired and still let me adopt my german shepherd and still continue with the paper work to take my dog home. The receptionist was very rude she didn’t care she just gave me Oh will its gone not I’m sorry someone took it home with them just only a look oh will and had her arm and shoulder up like oh will.
Drove from quite a distance to pull a dog for rescue. When I arrived the dog had been adopted, and had already been take to its new home. I asked to look at their other dogs and was allowed access to all of the buildings and saw a clean facility with amazing staff. One of the Kennel Workers was extremely helpful and friendly. I have pulled from several shelters and this was a very pleasant and positive experience.
