I worked extensively with Robert Butcher a few years ago while evaluating James Holmes, the perpetrator of the 2012 Aurora, CO, theater shooting. He did an excellent job of video recording nine lengthy interviews in two different high-security settings (Colorado Mental Health Institute, Pueblo, and Arapahoe County Detention Facility, Aurora) over a period of about three weeks. He navigated the process of getting a large amount of necessary equipment through the security procedures at both locations, set up inobtrusively and exactly as needed for a sensitive interview procedure, provided the media very promptly, and adhered to strict confidentiality protocols set by the judge in the case. I would highly recommend--and have recommended--him for other cases that require video recording, such as expert interviews in criminal or civil matters, including another of my own in Colorado. --William H.
