Golden music fixed my violin in a timely manner, and a super reasonable price. They gave me a time estimate and were done way before they said it would be. They updated me about the progress of it and called when there was more to be done than originally expected. Will definitely be going back. Plus they rent instruments for school at a very affordable price.
Very friendly and helpful! Good selection too
I am extremely grateful for Golden music! I am currently a teacher working at a title one school. I have been contacting Jill and she has been super friendly and kind! She was able to donate a cello to my school and gave me some accessories for my students to learn how to play strings. I am so so grateful for their generosity and support they give schools. If you ever need anything, Golden is the place to go! :)
The people here are so nice! And helpful!
Paid off our upright bass and was told we could bring it in for a free inspection. Drove all the way over there only to learn that it would take several weeks. They should have let me know how long it would take. Big waste of time. The lifeless employees indifferent response did not help.Customer service has gone downhill.
Stellar customer service and an awesome rental program for Band and Orchestra . Complete with delivery service and maintenance for all non-intentional damages. 5 out of five would recommend.
Nothing but talented and kind staff, and excellent instruments. The staff will pick up and deliver instruments, fix and tune them, and they even offer free video lessons. We love Golden Music!
Everyone we spoke to was friendly and extremely helpful. The knowledgeable staff took their time and answered all of our beginner questions. Will be purchasing from them again.
Im in New Jersey, trying for months to get a guitar shipped to a friend in Golden, CO, and because of COVID, all my shipping attempts have failed. Devon at Golden Music was so helpful when I called to see if he could get a guitar delivered for me locally. He took the time to email all the inventory that was available for me, and made the purchase transaction and delivery of the guitar smooth and easy the very next day. Couldnt be more pleased with the exceptional customer service we received!
Ive been working with Golden Music for the past couple of years and it has been great! Both of my daughters have been taking lessons here and they have absolutely loved it. Kelsey has made it really easy to take lessons here. She knew the teachers schedules and was easily able to accommodate for having two kids at the same time with different teachers. If you havent done so already, sign up for the auto-bill, it makes it easier to pay without the hassle of having to write a check every month. Thank you Golden Music for being so great and understanding of your customers needs!
They have been wonderful for our violin rental and have made sure we have everything we need. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.
We have rented from Golden Music for years. This is the first year we have two children needing instruments. The employees were friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Even on a busy day we felt very taken care of. The lady helping us in strings department went above and beyond for my very excited new musicians. The rental program is extremely generous with allowing us to keep 100% of our rental credit and put that towards any other band or orchestra instrument. We recommend Golden Music for their rental program; its a great flexible way to get your kids going on instruments without breaking the bank!
Professional! All musical services are provided for you at Golden Music. The staff is highly motivated and trained as a trusted resource in all educational and professional venues. From beginners to professionals Golden offers a wonderful selection of instruments, equipment, music. They have worldwide connections and encourages networking to provide dedicated service and individual attention to each and every customer. Bravo to a dedicated business that supports Music Education! I am proud of my association with Golden Music.
Very polite and informative enjoyed the visit will definitely be going back rented a violin for my daughter
The wife and I went in looking for a replacement guitar string we met with Jill who helped us out. She was very informative and pleasant overall to deal with. We will definitely return for future business!
I don’t write many reviews, but wanted to give a shout out to Brandon at Golden Music. I’ve had a couple interactions with Brandon and he’s extremely approachable. Beginning to play an instrument can be an intimidating affair on its own, let alone asking basic questions to someone who is an expert. Luckily Brandon is genuine, patient, and listens well. Thanks for the great experience, I’ll be back again soon!
I’m renting a violin for my daughter for elementary orchestra with Golden Music. At the rental night they were very helpful, informative and patient. One of the owners sized my daughter to make sure that moving her up from her 3/4 to a full sized violin was the right move and then got us all set up! They also deliver to the school or even your house if you don’t live near their store. I’ll update or add a review as we go since we are just beginning to work with them but a great help and service so far!
I have been a loyal customer of Golden Music for years solely because of Kelsey. I never ask to speak with anyone other than her. She is always very professional and has organizational skills that deserve to be rewarded. She is by far the sweetest and most helpful lessons coordinator I have ever had the pleasure of doing business with and recommend Golden Music as the number one place for lessons because of Kelsey.
Took my brand new tenor sax in for an inspection are the end of May 2020 to make sure everything was in good working order from the factory. They told me it would be about a week. 2 weeks later I called to check the status and was told they had to quarantine all horns before working on them. That makes sense during covid craziness but they shouldnt have lied to me when I took it in.Two weeks after that, I called again to check the status. Apparently the day after I called the first time they cleaned it and checked every key but when they called to tell me I had the audacity to not answer the phone. They didnt leave a voice message or ever try to call back. When I told them I was pissed about that they tried to blame it on covid! Because apparently the virus changed the way PHONES WORK!I had decided that I wasnt going to leave a bad review because I know how hard it can be as a small business owner myself. Then I tried to play my horn. The spring on one of the palm keys was completely out of place. Its a 30-second fix but I JUST PAID $100 to avoid this exact problem. So basically I paid $100 to have my factory new sax that didnt need cleaning cleaned and to have someone claim to check it and miss one of the simplest problems a sax can have. In other words they didnt do crap, took a month to not do crap, and charged me $100 for crap. Even leaving a voice message was too much effort.I rarely say Ill never be back to a business because were all human and mistakes happen but this was over the top. I honestly dont think they actually did anything and charged me for it.On a positive note, their prices for accessories are pretty decent.Update: After leaving a bad review the store did contact me and offer to make it right. I have to give them credit for that. So I upped my rating based on their willingness to do that.
Love love love this store, what a wonderful feast for the eyes, such a vast variety of instruments arranged artistically into beautiful displays throughout the whole place! The people are so nice and knowledgeable, it is always a joy to spend time looking around the store and learning from the experts, and there is something for everyone from children to adults, from beginners on a budget to discerning collectors. Go check it out, you will be glad you did!
My family has had a wonderful experience with Golden Music. They were very helpful with my daughter’s flute lessons and we love the quality of the instruction.
The staff at Golden Music is outstanding. I took my daughter in today to get a couple things for her viola and the staff I dealt with, mainly Jill and Brenden, took a lot of time with us to make sure we got exactly what we needed and nothing more. Jill also took the time to speak with us about and show us some better quality violas, but she did not pressure us into renting or buying anything, and instead, encouraged my daughter to keep playing the one she has until we feel its time to invest more money. Its really nice to have such a great shop that specializes in orchestral instruments, and a staff that seems to truly care about their customers, here in Denver Metro! I would definitely recommend going here for your instrumental needs, especially if you have children in music programs at school!
Thankful for a locally owned music store where you can get great service! I have rented from them as well as bought a violin and received plenty of patience and advice. I appreciate Jill taking the time to make sure that my daughter was happy with her violin and bow!
For a while, I had only one kid taking music lessons at Golden Music. My other child wanted lessons too, but we had to wait for another teacher to open up at the same time. Kelsey kept me in mind and let me know as soon as the time i needed was available. She made scheduling easy and convenient and was always very helpful!
Nice communication. I was looking to get my guitar touched up, but I was hoping for a quick in and out. Jill( I think : p ) was really clear about the timeline after I explained I had only one guitar. She gave me honest expectations, and recommended me to another shop where I could find what I was looking for. Its one of the closest shops to me so Ill be visiting soon and picking up a couple of essentials Ive been craving :)
While at Golden Music, I worked with an employee named Kelsey. After working with her to discern what type of ukulele would function best for me, she quickly finished the transaction and acted as though she prioritized my time. Overall, Kelseys knowledge and experience ensured a very pleasant experience.
Im renting an instrument from Golden Music. I love this place, very friendly staff and the service is great.
The best darn music store in the state. Fabulous customer service.
I would recommend a company with a better online payment and account access system. Plus the owner threatened to repossess my sons violin Id been paying on (upgraded three times) for 8 years because I missed a payment when we got new cards. Not all customers are trying to take your instruments for free Golden music so dont treat them like criminals. How about invest in a better more accessible accounting and payment system that doesnt set your customers up to fail.
We have been rental customers with Golden Music for a decade, with 2 students who have played viola, french horn, violin, and clarinet over the years. We have always been very happy with the rent-to-own program, and as Ive watched my little musicians grow from playing the tiniest violin you can imagine to now playing a full-sized instrument, Ive never had to worry about the rental program growing with us. Our trade-in value has always transferred seamlessly and been more than fair, and we have always received top-notch customer service. Thanks Golden!
Rented a violin for my son for school through golden music. The quality of the instrument along w/ the price and rent to own option cannot be beat. It is top quality and you wont find better for the same price, and security you receive as far as options for damaged or lost instruments. By far my go to music store for any instruments in the future.
I will never do business with them again. Its that time of year again where many kids will want to learn how to play a musical instrument. For our son, music and band have been great. However I wanted to share with you the experience that I had with Golden Music, as I would personally never do business with them again. They come to the schools and make it very easy to rent an instrument from them. They talk up that they have rent to own and upgrade program, which seemed very attractive to us. We figured, as our son got older and wanted to upgrade to a more professional model, we would get credit for what weve put in. Not Quite.Over time, we paid $1700 for a student model alto sax. Their representatives who come to the schools and their employee who answered the phone, led us to believe that we could apply the $1700 in value (minus a minor cleaning and repair fee) towards the purchase of a new instrument. However, after many emails with Mary Brainerd, one of their owners, I was informed that:1). You can only trade to one of the instruments that is in their rental program. Since their rental program doesnt really offer much other than student and perhaps some intermediate instruments, you dont really have many upgrade options. Also, if you rent an alto sax and then want to change to a tenor or baritone sax (very common), youre out of luck because they dont include those in their program.2) After many emails, since our contract with them says that you may move your credit to a professional model, Mary said that they would allow us to trade in the saxophone and give us $1600 of value towards the purchase of a professional sax model. HOWEVER, the price at Golden Music AFTER our trade-in was the same as what most other stores advertised as their base price. Effectively, Golden Music marked up the instrument by $1500 before taking into account our trade-in, making our Trade-in really worthless.Needless to say that our son is not happy, since hes been raising money for a new instrument and he cant count on Golden Musics farce of a trade-in program.
Mary and her team are fantastic! Wonderful customer service and true passion about launching kids into their music interests. Locally-owned and invested in building our Denver area music scene through the next generation. They have everything you need.
Always accommodating. My daughter has ASD & they couldnt be kinder to her. We always shop at Golden Music.
We rented a cello from Golden Music through the school orchestra program. They were accommodating and helpful through the rental process. Now, the trouble begins when you return an instrument. I sent two emails with no response so I called to arrange pickup. The cello was picked up as scheduled from my childs school. Subsequently, I had an employee come to my home to pick up the cello a week after it was picked up from the school. Then received several calls from different employees to arrange pickup. One of the employees was quite frustrated at me because the cello was already picked up. Whats concerning is how disorganized the store is when it comes to records. I expect a store that deals with large school district to have excellent records and customer service. Should we rent again, it wont be through this store.
I have had nothing but a terrific experience here. My son is an increasingly serious (young) musician, and is so excited to learn. He was literally a kid in a candy store. I realize that with school starting that all the employees are overwhelmed and busy helping others, but I just have to give a shout out to an employee named Kelsey. She helped me sign my son up for lessons and not only was she very pleasant and knowledgeable, I didn`t feel like I was being rushed. All my questions got answered and she was just a pleasure to deal with. Thank you.
We have been customers of Golden Music for over 10 years. My daughter played the violin and loved the friendly and knowledgeable staff at the store. We always recommend the Golden Music store to our friends looking for a violin or another instrument to rent or buy.
Devin was so nice and helpful to fit my daughter for a guitar. He was very knowledgeable and spent a good chunk of time with us to make sure we got everything we needed. I dont know anything about guitars but he explained what would be helpful to have, and what we could wait on and buy at a later date. The prices I felt were reasonable.
One of my favorite music stores, where I have been able to teach harp, demonstrate world music at their World Music day, and also for accessories as a ukulele player! The staff is friendly and willing to answer any questions.
I take music lessons at Golden Music and Kelsey has always been very organized and helpful with my billing and scheduling. Very happy with my experience!
Great music shop. A good selection of instruments but its the service and attitude of the people inside that makes this place great. They are kind, helpful, and unpretentious. Thats something you dont see enough...especially in music stores. Prices are fair. Definitely worth buying from instead of going online.
Amazing service. The Employees make it worth you time and try to help you as efficiently by finding you the stuff you need fast with no hassle. Number one place to go shopping more music supplies.
I have always had very kind, very helpful, above and beyond service. I am very happy with the rental program ... the violin rental even applied to moving into flute! Thank you to all the employees I have interacted with!
As a customer of theirs for over 10 years, it is the employees who keep me coming back. I appreciate their knowledge, willingness to help and their overall happy attitude.
Very helpful and knowledgeable!!! Great to buy local and support the local businesses and they really make it possible in a very internet rich category of business. Friendly and courteous help and will bend over to find what you want and need.Folks need to get a grip and talk to the folks if you have an issue- very professional and want to help!I will buy and work with them whenever possible- they also want to build a great musical community.Kevin
The staff are really helpful and we love their student instrument rental program.
Always helpful, personal service. Great selection of fiddles in the vault! Staff has always been knowledgeable and friendly.
Amazing music store in Lakewood. Ac has been so wonderful helping my son with his new violin. Hes very patient and knowledgable. I will defaintly be returning frequently when needed.
Great selection but not the best music store in Denver area.
Beautiful restorations and the rent to own program helped a lot! Well definitely be back!
Great place, employees sorta hover over you but are very enthusiastic about music.
Love the selection, employees, and rental/rent-to-own program. They have a great maintenence plan included in the rental price, that really covers you or your child from breakage, and having to drive, or lose time waiting on a repair! They will give you a loner so you never have to stop practicing. Being Colorado Family Owned and Operated gives them a special place in my book.
Horrible experience. Brought in my violin to have it priced and they said theyll need two weeks (first red flag). Then three weeks pass and they still have not done anything. When I came to pick up my instrument, the employee had to look through piles of others to finally find it. Shows you how much they care for the instruments that are placed under their care...Called Vons Violin Shop in Hampton and the worker said to price would only take~ 15 mins. Thats where Ill be going.
Unfortunately, the service and accuracy of what the employees discussed with me while renting my childrens instruments was not accurate. I had returned my kids instruments within 13 days of renting them with no use and was told no refund of any type would be offered. I argued that that was not what I was told would happen when I rented. The owner was unkind and very rigid. His wife came out and did apologize and did agree to one half refund on one instrument. I kept checking my credit card for the refund which they said would be issued immediately and over a week later I still had to call to get the refund.
Do not rent from this place! I have read other reviews and it seems I am not alone when it comes to getting ripped off by them in their so-called accounting practices. When called out on his misleading tactics, Alex the owner childishly threw a fit and told me to get out of the store. If even one person reads this and rents their instrument from another store - I will feel good knowing I have saved them from the nightmare I went through renting from Golden Music.
I Love Golden Music. I am a singer songwriter and I have shopped thier store for all my musical needs since 1996. My first purchase was an amazing Peevy Amp that I still use and always they are my go to for guitar strings. I have bought a trumpet and several harmonicass. Sheet music and gig bags. Mics and guitar cords and other accessories I have needed over the years. The staff is not only cheerful and proffesional, many are also working musicians and very knowledgeable . I especially enjoy Jill and Mary and Devon. I have had my guitars repaired and had pick up installed. A fun place to visit and a great place to shop.
Kelsey was able to work with my hectic schedule and get me signed up for drop in lessons whenever I needed them!
They have lots of instruments but seemed pricey to me. Id probably try here if I needed repairs though. They have a robust workshop on site, but I thankfully havent needed to make use of it yet.
Unauthorized use of my debit card, ran my card multiple times per month even though my account was current with no payment due. Then, when I contacted them, no one could help me and no return phone call from the finance department as promised. Will be returning my instrument, DO NOT RENT FROM THESE CROOKS.
Great music teachers! Shop has all a band parent could want and a very friendly staff to boot.
Seeing the wide selection of violins I was expecting a fair appraisal on my violin. I dont know if its ignorance or dishonesty but my $4000 violin being appraised at $100 is absurd if not outright disrespectful. It makes me wonder if the myriad of master level violins are nothing but junk marked up %10000 over value.
Came here for guitar strings and metal thumbpicks. They had em! What a wonderful, westside alternative to Rockley Music. The people were really nice, price was decent. They are fairly new (couple years this location) but I like them and would highly recommend them!
The quality of their rental instruments is good. However their employees are beyond rude, especially Terry who is probably the rudest most condescending person I have ever spoken with. Additionally the program they have to except payments is inaccurate so while your bank statement reads that your payment has been deducted and sent to them, they call and claim no payment has been made.
I feel like a kid in a candy store :) keep up the good vibes yall!
Keep a close eye on your account! Three months after receiving an invoice that I fully paid for my instrument they took money out of my account. After calling three times they replied that they messed up but would not honor their invoice. Stay away from them. They are not worth your time or money.
Dont waste your time with convoluted rental agreements and way overpriced instruments. Flesher-Hinton has way better prices with way better management. At least get a double opinion before you sign ANYTHING with Golden Music. When the option to buy your instrument comes up you better be on your toes. They will omit all efforts to make that an easy transition and you will be stuck with your original rental after paying 5 time the value of the instrument. Seems like Ms. Kaleigh Hayes has a very similar experience.... After reading these reviews I wonder if people would like to start a class action suit against these people. OBVIOUSLY there is a pattern with the accounting and misleading information exchanged.... Anybody interested?
Amazing place, amazing staff, genuinely good people that are knowledgeable, and most importantly love music and what they do!
The first cello we got was lovely. The staff were kind and helpful. Then we needed to change sizes and the new instrument had a wrong sized bridge. The luthier mansplained why it was correct (I’m a musician trained at Interlochen Arts Academy and Oberlin College so I’m not an amateur) and the C string was still buzzing because the bridge was wrong. I finally gave up and returned the cello April 2nd which was our monthly bill day. I tried April 1 but they were closed for Easter. Because of the holiday I had gotten charged (which is fine) and they promised when I returned the cello that I’d be credited. A week later there was no credit so I called back. I also expressed how disappointed I was and they said they’d have the manager call me. Our teacher also called and they promised her the owner or manager would call me. It’s been almost 2 months with no further contact. Very disappointing. Good service if everything works, terrible if there’s and problem with NO follow up or attempts at rectifying the situation.
Dont let them fool you with how nice they seem. They will screw you over. We just paid off our instrument and it broke within 2 months. Their response sorry cant help you. Now I get to return my other sons instrument and rent a new one for the broken one. Guess where we wont be renting from!?! Bunch of crooks!
Very knowledgeable staff, fair pricing. Great place!
I witnessed alex, the owner, several times:/ screaming at his staff, demeaning women, AND threaten a disabled woman. Wow. Then discovered he altered records to commit theft and fraud, i recommend ANYWHERE but here, he is violently psychotic! When brought to co-owner, Marys, attention, she stated she supports alexs choices.Hmm. Wonder if she supports the same abuse upon herself, or only wants others robbed, harassed, degraded, and abused. No music here-only severe and dangerous mental illness
I got a boot put on my car because I drive a Nissan and this guy has a problem with the Nissan dealership next to him parking in his empty parking lot. I came in to inquire about lessons for the violin and the owner (I believe) booted my vehicle and tried to charge me $100 to remove it! There is a sign, but how anal and stupid to you need to be to boot your own potential customer!!?? What an idiot, and he even yelled back at me about it!!! Which made me late for my chemo appointment just to top it all off. Terrible human being!
Very helpful and friendly staff, and competitive prices.
Tried to have them fix my nephews instrument, they called and told me it was too cheap of an instrument to bother fixing. Most insulting customer service Ive ever had.
Great service and lovely workers!
Great teachers and instruments!
Friendly and welcoming
Charged 25$ for a damaged shoulder rest that costs 7$ online…
Best Music Store Ever!!!
Nice
Awesome people
