Recently had this company come repair the gables of our home. They were to remove the existing rotting wood and replace with hardie board. They told us the cost would be 4000.00 dollars. They were to begin Tuesday, July 6th. Due to issues with another job we were call and asked could they start Wednesday July 7th. They came out on Wednesday and began working. It now has been 5 days and they are not half completed. So far one of the mens car blew up causing a delay of work for a day. Then the poor guy whos car blew up was run over by his wife and we were told he now has a broken leg. I found out one of our workers is 19 who we were told is a grandson of our primary worker This led me to question if they were truly licensed. The workers had orginally begun work on one side of our home and did some work, broke and damaged some of our home in the process always saying dont worry we will fix it. Then proceed to the other side of our home do some work then go back to the other side again. So here we sit with no sides completed. The one side with the Hardie Board only held in with minimal screws is not butted together correctly and is cooked. We were told all would be corrected and the workers were supposed to come Sunday the 12th and fix it all. It was be completed with additional screws, fill in the screws so they are not seen, do the trim work, fix the flashing and soffit and holes they made in our home, fix the cable box they broke and side pieces. They also were to complete the other side.We had to leave on Sunday for a bit and are not sure what happened but their vehicles were here but they were not. We found a note on our front door asking us to call our main worker Rick, I called and was told he passed out on our property from the heat and his grandson drove him home. I took a look around and saw all the mess left and immediately I called McDonough who had hired these men come out and began complaining. After 2 text messages, 3 phone call, 1 letter he called me back. I was told he spoke to the worker who stated he could get it all completed on Monday the 13th, even though it has been 4 days of actual work and they are not even halfway through. Plus now the one side with the board will need to be redone. I was also informed I had two choices: to let this work continue with these workers and get done quickly or a longer version in which he would have to try and find someone else to do the work. They are coming today to pick up their stuff and I requested they show me their contractors license. Now we sit with damage to our home and will attempt to find a reputable company to redo, repair and replace all the shoddy work they did. I also now found our that the board they were cutting contains silica and they did not wear masks or lets us know of the dangers and we have a 12 year daughter.Shame on them for doing all this and shame on me for believing all their lies when told we are going to fix this.
McDonough Construction did great job on my 203K fixer upper.. I plan on using them for my future fixer uppers. They are also connected to realtors and property management, so its all a one stop shop.
