Very helpful resource with respectful staffing.Since I posted this five star review, I graciously accepted their generous offer to weatherize my house and be granted with a new furnace. Worst decision I’ve ever made concerning my home! My home is no longer my sanctuary I feel it’s been violated. My electric company claims my usage is down from a year ago so I guess that would be the upside, but it really wasn’t worth this new furnace that sounds like a jet engine that’s deafening and you have to turn the TV super loud to hear, in addition to the other “improvements” I could elaborate on but it would be too lengthy, that I have had to go to my own expense to repair. And I have to replace two beautiful doors that they insisted on cutting giant holes in and putting in hideous metal grates. The take away lesson is, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it!
They are not the best to work for. They give minimal training and limited feedback (till they fire you). They respond poorly (only expressed at time of firing) for being professional at expressing concerns with training and set expectations. Upper management chooses to not tell someone that they have a problem with communication until being fired. Maybe if they shared their concerns when it was an initial concern for behavior, “attitude”, etc it could have been altered. But I made the mistake of thinking we were all adults and could safely share concerns (that others even shared with me) in order to keep the lines of communication open. It all seemed to have gone down hill once office closed (amongst all that chaos), and management chose to be tight lipped about their concerns, observations and opinions of employee’s communication style, response to the available training, and so on. Don’t believe their hiring “kumbaya” rhetoric.
They are so wonderful, I dont know what I would do without their wonderful helpfulness. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Merry Christmas to all who work at Area Four Lafayette, Indiana 🎅🤶🎄
Its been several months since I tried to get help from them.I asked my primary to refer me.I never heard from anyone. So Im unclear if he sent a referral that was ignored ... or if he ever talked to anyone at Area IV, ... or if he ignored my request. Or maybe Area IV doesnt take formal referrals but he tried?I ended up trying to get help directly. It was several weeks before my call was returned.Instead of being helped, I was lectured by someone named Angieabout people looking for help from her agency.Apparently, a lot of people reach out to them trying to get help with physical help around the house ... who dont really need the help. She said they simply lack the desire to better themselves and take care of their own needs. The implication was that she suspected I was one of those people.Only AFTER she ranted about that to me/at me ... did she begin to slow down and actually ASK me what my more specific struggles were and what specific help I hoped to get.Maybe I caught her at a bad time? Everyone has bad days, bad moods, etc.. Maybe she had just got off the phone with some entitled/moocher looking for someone to wipe his butt for him because he didnt want to strain his good video-game hand? That was certainly her mood. But it was the first time I had ever communicated with her agency, beyond the general inquiry I left on their voicemail weeks prior.Based on other reviews, that cant be her normal mode. So something had to set her off *before we talked*. I wish I knew what that was.In any event, it was the end of the business day for her. So she didnt have time to do a full phone conversation about the specifics of my situation. That part actually did make sense, except ... it was her returning my call. If she didnt have time, she should have waited until she did.She also wasnt interested in finishing the conversation.Instead, she wanted to just refer me to some other agencies that might be willing to help.According to Angie, the *only* time her agency provides physical help from anyone with temporary or permanent limits/difficulties/disabilities is when the would-be client literally cant perform life-necessary functions like move a fork to their own mouth or stand up under their own power to move from a chair to a bed (the two examples she gave). She said her agency never ever provides physical assistance to anyone whose limits are less extreme than that ... unless they are paying cash out of pocket for said services. If thats the case, I still didnt need a rant that called into question my intentions or character, before she even knew the specifics of my situation. So ok. She wanted to refer me to other agencies instead that might be willing to help.So she made a phone appointment with me for the next day, to go over that with me instead.I waited by the phone. She never called.Days. Weeks. Months.I never heard back. After it was clear that Angies gross and baseless personal biases meant that even getting informal referals was too much to expect (even though it had been her idea) ...I again asked my primary care doc (technically an NP) again to advocate for me with Agency IV or help me find similar. He either never tried, or tried and failed. Im unsure which is the case.As it stands now, with Covid and both myself and my son being high-risk for fatality from Covid ... I wouldnt have someone coming in during this anyways. So even if they had helped, that help would have been brief. Better than nothing; but still brief. So this isnt about what isnt happening right now that should be.Its not about the rest of the year either, since there are no vaccines yet and that could take years. Were going to look for someone whod be a good fit to get a free room and some cash in trade for the help we need; once thats safe to do.This is just to let people in the area know what to expectand why most people should really not even try reaching out to Area IV, unless their needs are as extreme as the examples that Angie says are always required.
Decent case management. Take a long tims for them to get back to ypu6. Just drop in fpr quicker service
The Area IV Energy offers financial assistance to the poor. The people who work there are fantastic and positive and helpful. I highly suggest it!
They have been a great asset to the community and helping me get my parents the care they need.

It was very nice talking to someone who I think truly understands my situation. Although, it wasnt a positive outcome as far as a housing problem Im having with a certain Section 8 complex, I still left feeling worthy of myself and to redirect my thinking so I wont be homeless.Thank you Greg
Thank you so much area 4 for helping with electricity we really needed help last

The agency still strives to uphold its mission, even in a world that works against it! All staff are very passionate and dedicated.
Super helpful. Sometimes a lot of red tape to work through.
Area 4 is ok far as I know they try to help folks but the ones they contracted to work on my house werent so good. They were at my house for 2 weeks last winter and I had a lot of tools come up missing. Sand blocks, hammers they even took the top from my outside porch light. Very sad. Now when I get the money I have to buy a new porch light. I wont be trusting any contractors in my garage any more. Also my wall unit for my garage door opener hasnt worked since the day they left. It was called to the attention of area iv and nothing was done about it.
Greg and Allen are amazing individuals that go above and beyond to help everyone.
Willing to pay money for trial contact lenses I had before so I could just leave my glasses to have my lenses cut, and the lady very short with me said no. Then when I tried to explain about having my lenses made, she was short again when I was just following what I was told on the phone. No I cant leave my glasses I cant see without them hence why I wanted to purchase the contact lenses.
Thank God for this agency! They got me out of a bind and in a hurry. So grateful for Area 4 and the amazing worker who helped me. Thank You!
I learned so much about the services they offer from preschool to helping the elderly staying their homes that need a bit of assistance.
Area iv helped with budgeting and figuring out my daughters social security. They offer to connect with agencies that can help your needs in the community
Nice lady...but need more than one..she was somewhat busy...but very attentive
Staff seemed confused when my colleagues and I brought donations over. Facility could use some TLC. Staff at the front is not the most helpful or friendly. Still, these people are doing good work in our community.
