I have trained here for 8 years now and have had a great experience. Amazing place for anybody who wants to learn Jiu-jitsu. Very professional.
Solflo is a great jiu jitsu academy. Clean facility, great instruction, great people (both teachers, and students).
Great people, great classes, super fun sport, overall amazing experience + cute dogs
My name is Rory Barrett, I have trained at SOLFLO Jiu-jitsu for the past 5 1/2 years. A friend of mine had started training at SOLFLO and recommended that I try Jiu-jitsu as they had nice facilities including changing rooms, mens and womens bathrooms, clean mats and great instruction. Jennifer and I still train together at SOLFLO today!Prior to joining SOLFLO I had done Kenpo karate for about 5 years and I weighed 177 lbs., I was 43 years old and I thought that I was fit! After about 2 years of Jiu-jitsu I weighed 162 lbs. and had built up enough fitness to go to SOLFLO 4-5 times a week, also my eating habits had changed to a healthier diet/ lifestyle to give me the energy needed to train Jiu-jitsu.I have two sons who have also done Jiu-jitsu at SOLFLO in the kid’s classes and one is now training with me in the adults’ classes when he is not too busy with Marching band or doing his SATs. My Jiu-jitsu friends have become my extended family, we spend a lot of time on the mats together training and grappling which builds a lot of respect and closeness with each other. Over the past few years Ive also had the opportunity to travel for work or for fun and have been fortunate to find other amazing Jiujitsu gyms and make new friends in Ireland, France, Spain, United Arab Emirates and French Guiana. Recently a friend of mine who I trained with in Toulouse came and visited SOLFLO.Today, at the young age of 49 years old I am a blue belt at SOLFLO and still enjoy every hour that I spend on the mats, I am fitter that I have ever been (even in my twenties), I have competed in 12 tournaments and am looking to a doing a few more this year. The only mistake I have made in Jiu-Jitsu was not starting when I was 20 years younger!
A five star rating is inadequate for this review. What started as a flyer on a month trial quickly went from curiosity, to hobby, to full on passion. The ownership, coaching staff, and curriculum are nothing short of excellent but it is the culture that make SOLFLO world class. Whether the goals are self defense, competition, or simply testing and growing yourself physically and mentally - I have found no better place than SOLFLO.
Professor Ryan and Coach Erica Walden provide excellent training and bring their lessons and experience into their classes. This is a great facility to begin or continue your Jiu-Jitsu journey whether youre young or old alike.
I couldnt be happier with what Im learning at RFLX. Im 38 and before joining I had never done any contact sports or martial arts (except for a few karate classes as a kid) so I didnt know what to expect. The classes are highly structured and they focus on repetition and getting the technical details right which great for a beginner like me. Each week has a theme so if you can go multiple times a week you get to really learn each technique. They also make great use of technology - sending videos before each week so you know what to expect. They progress you slowly and in a measured way, keeping you safe and challenged.Prof Ryan and the coaches have created a fantastic culture as well. The students there are tough, supportive and friendly, and I learn a lot from other students. Finally, the instructors there are very skilled both as fighters and as teachers. It always feels like Im surrounded by experts there. Ive learned about everything from self defense to mental toughness to nutrition. If you are considering signing up, you cant go wrong.
Great customer service and excellent instructors. They really work with the students to learn the techniques while having fun. The owners are very approachable and appreciate each student. We are very happy.
RFLX has been amazing for our son. The staff are professional, helpful, and tough (in a good way)! They have motivated our 7 year old to challenge himself so that he can be the best he can be. If you have a daughter or son who loves to move this is your place! I highly recommend trying it out. Who knows - you might end up joining a class as well!
Incredible for all ages and abilities. I have had my son test the waters in several martial arts and this training center is far and above anything weve experienced. Whether you are a serious MMA athlete or youth beginner class - you will be challenged. The owner is technical, knowledgeable and personable. I could write paragraphs on the changes it has made in my little boys life. Its the hidden gem of Lafayette that is quickly gaining a following of parents who want real emotional/physical/mental positive changes in their children.
Great martial arts school! The instructors are extremely skilled yet down-to-earth. Everyone is friendly and makes a new person feel welcome. Not only am I learning something, Im having fun too!
RFLX is lead by excellent Professors and coaches, the curriculum is awesome, the community is great, the mats are always clean and the facility itself is great. The kids program is incredibly well run, engaging and fun. Go check them out, you will love the entire experience!
Great gym, cleanest of all that Ive been to. Professional and respectful owners and knowledgeable instructors. Wonderful kids program as well. Great vibe friendly and not intimidating.
Excellent Jiu Jitsu school to start your journey or continue. The vibe and atmosphere in the gym is great, it creates an environment for cool people to train with cool people. Their kids program is huge. Doing both gi and nogi. Its more than a school, its a family.
The energy at Sol Flo Jiu Jit Su is electrifying! The positivity of proffesor Ryan makes all the difference in impacting everyone in a learning session. His persistence to make sure that every belt learns the techniques being taught, makes people light up with exitement and self determination. Wether you want to get in great shape! Or want to learn brazilian Jiu Jit Su the right way, like me. Sol Flo is the place for you! It will change your life.
Starting BJJ at SolFlo was the best decision I could have made. Im humbled and grounded every time I step on the mat. Professor Ryan and all the coaches create an inviting environment where your willingness to learn and grow is met with positive reinforcement and friendship. OSS
SolFlo exemplifies the kind of training facility that you would want to train at, where you want your kids to train. Professor Ryan and his staff are professional and personable and have created a positive training environment. If youre looking to train check SolFlo out... you will be happy that you did.🙏🏼
The instruction at RFLX is top notch. My 6 year old in the Lions Cub program and he has developed tremendously while learning the basics of this discipline. In addition to teaching Jui Jitsu effectively, Professor Ryan and his coaches help instill respect and etiquette for these young students.I was so impressed with the instruction here that I also signed up for the adult classes for myself.
Ive been training here for a couple of years and Ive been impressed from the beginning with the quality of instruction. Its obvious that the owners, Ryan and Erica Walden, take a lot of pride in the quality of the programs at the school that they founded. In addition to being excellent teachers, they are both strong competitors and they regularly bring insights from their competition experience into the classes. This is also a very supportive environment in which all of the students, especially the upper belts, help each other improve our skills in jiu jitsu techniques and do better in competitions for the students who choose to compete. They really go above and beyond to help all of us become as successful as we can. Every week, they send out videos of the techniques that we are studying that week. I find this very helpful because it gives me a chance to think about what Im going to learn in class, and a chance to review afterwards and pick up finer details by watching the videos more closely and at my own pace. Finally, the Waldens offer the best schedule Ive found anywhere with classes over lunch, in the evening and on the weekend. Unlike some other gyms Ive attended, I can attend as many SolFlo classes as I want without additional charges.
What a great place! Its makes me feel great to know a black belt is teaching my kids jiu jitsu. I highly recommend RFLX training center!
I have thoroughly enjoyed learning the basics of BJJ at Solflo. I showed up having only taken one class prior and the team took care of me totally (providing a gi and answering questions constantly). Everyone is very friendly and the instruction is clear and fun. I enjoyed the core and womens classes immensely. The community is very welcoming and I learned a lot in a short period of time while I was visiting Louisville. I recommend classes here and I will definately be popping in again the next time I visit. Thank you Solflo BJJ 🙏
Best jiu jitsu academy around. Professional staff with no ego, only care about teaching and learning.
I’ve trained at a handful of studios in a couple different states and only made it 6 months tops before quitting. Whether it was a combative approach to teaching, drama within the school, or injury, there were always factors that began making me question if I was looking for something that didn’t exist in a martial arts school - or if I just didn’t have what it took to be a practitioner of BJJ. My desire was there, but a studio with the right fit seemed to elude me.Then I walked into SolFlo…Coach Erica Walden spent almost an hour on the phone with me listening to the challenges I’ve had, my reservations about training somewhere new, and my desire to be a part of a studio our entire family could join. She encouraged me to visit the studio and only do as much as I was comfortable with - whether that was observing, participating, or doing the 30 day trial.I came in for the 30 day trial and was immediately impressed with the family friendly atmosphere at SolFlo. Professor Ryan Walden quickly introduced himself and was very friendly, encouraging, and passionate about BJJ. The students went out of their way to talk to me and make me feel welcome and all of the coaches had a hand in helping me shed some of the baggage I walked in with as I began to embrace Jiu Jitsu once again. One of the criteria I judged the school on was making sure it was a safe environment not just for myself, but for my children. After the month of training under Professor Ryan and his talented team of coaches, and after observing the kids program, I knew SolFlo was going to be a place we could settle into as a family and train together for years to come. You often read reviews about ‘no egos’ and ‘family friendly’ but this was the first studio I’ve attended where I could actually see those qualities day to day. Our children have been a part of the kids program for 2 years and it is still something they look forward to. Each of them has goals they’ve set for themselves and been encouraged to work toward and seeing them reach those goals is priceless as a parent. Jiu Jitsu isn’t something we have to drag them to or something they dread attending… instead, it’s something they delight in.They’ve made friends with the other students, made significant gains athletically and technically, and most of all… they’ve had a fun time doing it.Professor Ryan has been fundamental in my journey beyond the 2nd stripe I had on my white belt when I walked into SolFlo. He’s been patient, thought provoking, and has been willing to walk down different paths on this journey to help his students as we each seek to find our way. Watching his competitions, you see that the Jiu Jitsu he teaches is extremely effective and he is quite skilled at imparting his knowledge to his students. He’s not dogmatic about the way we learn and encourages all of us to take hold of jiu jitsu and make it our own. Its also encouraging to see that he is still himself a student of the game and brings that passion and excitement to the mats.I could write so much more on how strongly I feel toward SolFlo but the biggest endorsement I can offer is that our family has been here for over 2 years now and doesn’t plan on going anywhere else. If you’re looking for a family friendly studio with high quality authentic Jiu Jitsu for you or your kids, try SolFlo and experience for yourself the community we call home.
Since I was a kid, Ive wanted to learn martial arts but never took the plunge. Now that Im 34, I was a little hesitant to start learning. One of the fine coaches at RFLX, Coach Clark, convinced me to give Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu a try and gave me an introductory session for free. He said youll know pretty quickly if it is for you or not. Let me tell you, I was hooked since day-one and wondered why I didnt do this a long time ago. Now I am in there at least four times a week and cant get enough. The Coaches and Professors at RFLX are amazing both on and off the mat. They are so knowledgeable and patient. Whether you are just a beginner or have many years of martial arts experience under your belt, they give you equal personal attention and know how to get the most out of each student. They push you to learn and improve, but dont overwhelm you. They have a different structured curriculum for each week and they take you through it step by step until you get it.The members at RFLX (my training partners and new friends) are equally amazing. There are no ego-driven, macho, testosterone-filled guys there. The beginners are eager to learn, and the more advanced guys are happy to help everyone get better. The facility is super-clean and they take great care to ensure a safe environment to train. Also, this isnt gust a place for men to train. There are plenty of women and kids that train there too and they seem to pick it up faster than a lot of the guys in my opinion. Professor Ryan and Professor Mario are just awesome with the kids. RFLX also has several female instructors that are great teachers. So whether you are a man, woman, or youngster, beginner or advanced, they have basically created an all-inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome and everyone improves. I honestly dont have a single complaint about my experience there nor have I seen anyone leave a class without feeling great about what they just learned. They have a special promotion going on now, first 30 days for $30, so there really is no reason to not give it a try. RFLX has helped me improve myself physically and mentally at the same time. I get a great work-out for both body and mind at each session and I look forward to going. I never used to get excited to exercise, now I cant wait to get back on the mat. Give it a try, you wont be disappointed.
Compared to the other BJJ academies I have tried in the Boulder area, RFLX stands out as the finest in all categories. As a purple belt, I can say that the advanced curriculum is top-notch and taught by excellent instructors. The fundamentals curriculum is solid as well, with an emphasis on details thatll help build tough grapplers. Here, you can also round out your game with excellent striking instruction or improve your cardio with fitness classes. Plus its the cleanest, best-looking gym Ive ever been to. It really is a great place to train for men, women and children. Great vibe. Check it out.
I previously trained at another gym before going to RLFX Training Center. And honestly my opinion of other gyms was not that good. I have a passion for BJJ I may not be that advanced, but I do have that drive to always learn and improve. I started going to RFLX in late March. I have never felt so welcomed in my life. Each person in this gym truly matters. It may seem a little bit absurd, but the fact that Coach Ryan, Erica, John Davie, and Professor Mario Correa remember your name after the first time meeting you. Shows that you are a valued part of the team. No matter your skill level. When I started at RFLX I weighed 192lbs. After almost 3 months there I am now down too 178lbs. If you are looking to get into shape, or just staying active. This is the gym for you. It is also perfect for kids as they do have BJJ for them. I have seen first hand the wonders it can do for young children and their confidence. Please check out RFLX Training Center, you wont regret it. 275 Waneka Pkwy, Lafayette, CO 80026.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has the ability build confidence, calmness, strength (both inner and outer), stamina, and character. In order to realize these benefits however, you must have the right coaches and teammates. And that is exactly what youll find at RFLX. This is a true family environment that starts at the top and is felt through all coaches and members. Every single coach at this gym cares about your personal development both on and off the mat, and everyone I have trained with shares the same values: A sense of building a better person, a better community and therefore having a positive impact on our world. Coach Ryan Walden has made such an impact in my life in all areas, whether its in business, with my family or even strangers. Not to mention the world class Jiu Jitsu instruction. Stop in and meet some of the staff and members and you will see why this gym is quickly making a mark in the Boulder/Denver area.
My 8 year old son and I recently started training at the RFLX Center in Lafayette and are thrilled to be here. All of the coaches, particularly Coach Ryan Walden, offer safe, detail oriented instruction in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, conditioning, wrestling, and Muay Thai kickboxing. The environment is warm, positive, and nurturing.Although I am extremely overweight and in my 40s, Im learning new skills, losing weight, and most importantly, not getting hurt in the process. Ive done martial arts and combat sports before, but I thought my training days were behind me. RFLXs intelligent, methodical, and safety-first approach has inspired me to pick it up again. My son, in particular, leaves every class with an endorphin high and a smile on his face. In only three weeks, he has lost weight and made noticeable gains in strength and agility. The training and positive reinforcement has given him a huge boost in confidence and self-esteem.RFLXs rates are more than reasonable. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, the facility is clean and spacious, and the environment couldnt be any more positive. I cant say enough about the RFLX Center. Theyre the best thing thats happened to Lafayette in years.
