Loved the new facilities! Very clean and modern! We came in to donate materials. (They always need toys and newspaper, but they do not need food.) They were very nice to us and showed us around. The kennels were full, and they obviously wanted to get dogs adopted. Would definitely recommend LASCC for any aspiring pet parents!
I saw thunder, he stole my ❤ heart so I took him home. He did great on the ride to his forever home. Walked right in like he owned the place. I am in love love love with him
I love the new building its beautiful
Went in to look for a family pet. This new facility it very clean and everyone was so helpful and friendly!!!! The dogs I wanted were both on stay hold. Hopefully they both become available so we can add both to our family🤞🏼
I recently took a visit to the new shelter, which is very nice. WOW.Looking at possibly adopting a young dog for my son.Their were 3 ladies, the receptionist who very pleasant and explain to us which doors to go throttle see the dogs.Upon entering a very nice young lady assisted my son and I.We had found a dog /puppy so I asked if we could walk the dog.Upon going out door to see if the dog would connect with my son. Their was an older lady sitting in and enclosed fenced area with a different dog. I was hanging behind just watching the young lady walk the dog with my don. Do not know if she was a volunteer or college student. Super nice young lady.In the meantime the older lady asked me what were they doing, (Humm) to myself.I replied what were their for; she was so rude and said that dog needed to be put up; she was not supposed to be out and was not available for adoption.I called to my son; for them to put the dog up. As the young lady was passing by the enclosed fenced area, the older lady was just going on and on about them walking the dog. I apologize to the older lady that it was I who asked the young lady walk the dog.So, we went back inside and continued looking.Any dog with a tag was not ready for adoption, there are rules. Got it, the older lady just kept on and on each dog we had interest in.Finally I told my son, let’s just go.As we were walking out of the dog area, the young lady, the older lady, then we’re joined by a 3rd lady.I thanked the young lady for her help. The older lady again started to repeat herself to me again. I told I understood. Then; proceeds to actually tell me I don’t think you are understanding me!Excuse me!!!! I do understand, I am understanding completely. I am not beaneath you, you are a very rude person to be working with public. She went on and on about the tags on the cage the age of the dogs when the times vet would go.I told I had enough of if rudeness and would not be returning.I then leftFirst and last visit there. That lady just does not how to talk to ppl and/or coworkers
Adopted a total of 2 cats and a dog from here and couldnt be more happier. all were socialized and sweet animals. Although, if you adopt a heartworm+ dog, after the treatments, they may be a whole different dog!! So be mindful of that (mine loves socks, making zoomies, and being a butt after he started feeling better)
Very nice new facility, very clean. The staff was helpful, and answered any questions honestly.
These people are rude and don’t even try to help. A moma cat and babies were abandon. Took Them to néw facility I was told I had to call first, second they don’t take cats till 1:00 and that they a KILL shelter. Not what they advertise. When You look them up all it Shows is time open and close. Pathetic so called shelter. !!!!!
They do their best to get pets back home with their owners and adopted into good homes.
Awful place my poor pup wondered out the yard while I was at work hes blind and deaf they picked him up granted I understand they had to because someone called but when I FINALLY found which shelter he was in cuz nobody called the number on his tag the lady was rude and kept charging extreme amounts of money I told them that Id pay the holding fee for a week and by the time the week was up and I was ready to pick him up he was just gone nobody told me anything Ive had that dog for well over 7 years hes like my Best friend😢 now I cant find him and hes just gone
Plenty of dogs to adopt over there
Just want to thank you all for letting me take Blue home with us. Were really enjoying him much and giving him so much LOVE. Thanks again
I brought my baby home from here and he has been my rock!! So very thankful for yall!!!
My mother adopted two kittens recently. Angela was quite helpful and very friendly. Mother brought the kittens to see her vet (who specializes in cats). We were so pleased to learn that the kittens had been very well cared for.
Thank you for letting me adopt my friend. I love her to bits and I could not have asked for a better first experience at a shelter! They care a lot about their animals! Adopt dont shop!
Amazing! After going to spay nation where things seemed completely in shambles, I was surprised to find this shelter clean, kind professional staff, and a much bigger selection of healthier looking animals. I was amazed! I’m certain my daughter and I will be signing up for volunteer work soon! GO HERE! The ladies are dolls, and much more nurturing than the other place we were dealing with ( for a lack of better words)!
Holds a very special place in my heart. Have your pet spayed or neutered and volunteer at your local animal shelter, itll fill your heart with good
Very nice and helpful. I went to get a kitten for Christmas and they didnt disappoint. They are really busy. Had several people leaving with little fur friends when I got there. I would recommend going there if interested in a pet. Our new little fur baby had his shots, was checked out, fixed & had a microchip. We are enjoying him sooo much. There are many little and big lives out there that need a good home.
Best best best! Professional, clean, kind, funny, I won’t ever recommend another place! Great animal selection, they were all knowledgeable even the volunteers!
I asked specifically if the dog was good around autistic children I was told yes and no more than 2 hours later I had to bring her back because she tried to attack my son twice and then he was crying because we had to give her back
I called about a big but seemingly injured fur baby. The dog was just laying in my flower bed. I saw it at 7am, then again when I left for work at 10am. I asked my daughter to check at 12pm. She said the dog was still there and had not moved. I called the shelter and the rep dispatched someone out. I didn’t want my daughters to go near it because it was a stray. Come to find out, she was pregnant and just waiting to have her babies. Poop baby. I have two big in home pit bulls and couldn’t keep her. Hope all is well.
We drove oVer 30 minutes to get to the shelter before they closed the kennels. We arrived at 4:20pm. When someone finally acknowledged us, they told us the kennel was closed. We explained what we were there for and that it wasnt 4:30pm yet. The employee agreed about the time but said they were still closed and we couldnt go in. Doesnt seem like they are very concerned about being of service to the animals nor the people of the parish. Dont think I am going back and I know I will not be making donations any longer. SHAME ON YOU GUYS!
Great service. Everyone very kind and caring.
We adopted a dog which we were told in several emails, that she was kid friendly. This dog growls at my children for no reason, barks at them and even lunged like she was going to bite my son. When I contacted them they told me to call a dog trainer or see if I know someone else who can take her. Very sad way to run a “NO KILL” shelter.
The people here! ARE SO WONDERFUL AND CARING ❤
Unbelievably rude office staff you can see from the picture that they sat talking/playing on the phones, instead of trying to go check and see what was taking 20 minutes to pickup an animal, or offer any explanation as to why it takes 20 minutes to move an animal from a cage to a vehicle. I hope I never have the misfortune of dealing with this group of people again.
Most of the workers are very friendly and the shelter seemed clean for the most part. I’m only giving one star though. My boyfriend and I went in there to look at the kittens. We fell in love with one so I asked to adopt her. They told me she had an appointment to get spayed that next day so I wouldn’t be able to adopt her right away so they put her on hold for me. Which was no big deal at all. While the lady was filling out the papers, I was holding the kitten and I noticed she had scabs and bumps all over her neck and head/ears. So I asked the worker about it and she told me they’d mention it to the vet when she goes in for her spaying. If it was something that needed medication, they’d send it home with her.Adoption day comes along (the day after she was spayed) and she didn’t have any cone around her neck, no bandages. So I brought her home and about 5 days in, she ended up licking her wound open causing an infection so I had to take her to the vet. After a $130 vet visit and a of couple weeks, she healed up. Then, my boyfriend and I started getting ring worm ALL OVER OUR BODIES. Turns out, the “scabs” on our new kitten was ring worm. Off to the vet we go again and another $130 spent within the first month of having her. We had to spend at least 4 weeks applying medication not only on her, but also on us.We’ve now had her for about 3 months and everything is taken care of, I just wish they would have taken the time to ask the vet about the ringworm when she went in to get spayed and I wish they would have better prepared us for her healing process.MAKE SURE YOU CHECK THE CATS FOR RINGWORM. IT’S HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS AND WILL JUST KEEP SPREADING UNTIL THEY DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
We visited because our dog had an eye issue and they did everything they could at the time. While we were there the evaluation seemed complete and with genuine care for our dog. We were clearly explained what to do if the condition didnt clear up.The strange thing to me was that they called two days later to ask how our dog was doing...I dont even get a call from our family or specialized doctors after a visit or treatment. It was a nice touch.
Louisiana falls number 1 in corruption! Sadly, Louisianas corruption is deeply embedded all the way down to its small town public assistance programs. Similar to how Louisiana deals with its homless. . . Some animalsare better off on the side of the road than in parish/state custody.
I just love my 2 kittens I have now both of them got out and hasnt come back home yet. I miss them terribly
We saw this dog online, her name is Ripley. She is an amazing dog .we are adopting her too.
You couldnt ask for better people to take care of the animals. The staff is so awesome. You can see how well the animals are taken care of, the place is clean and they are friendly and good at answering any questions you may have
Good shelter with nice staff members who are quick to answer any questions you have. They need more funding to help maintain the place to a better standard but they care a lot about their animals.
I have been calling these people for weeks to get someone over to my neighborhood to get these chickens that just roam around freely in the road and in other peoples yards! No one has came after the dispatcher took all of my information down and told me someone was on the way. I will call to speak with a supervisor on Monday.
Its a no kill shelter. They have German Shepherds and pit bulls. And they fix there cats before giving them away. A must go if u want to adopt.
You can contact them when you have stray animals running around. However, do not call them on a holiday they literally tell you we can’t help you. We had a stray dog that apparently neighbors were saying had been loose for days, well it must have been exhausted and tired and hungry because on Christmas Day it was sticking around and wouldn’t leave the neighborhood park at Paige Place. Called Lafayette animal shelter and they said they couldn’t do anything until the next open business day. I’m assuming your supposed to keep the dog in your home or yard for the next couple days or else it just has to fend for itself? Not sure but that’s my honest review.
Protect the stray keep them safe our creator made them glory praises as he made us safely animals dont deserve to be strays on the streets hanging then why they love you and me best friends they could be like a part of our family🙏🙏🙏🙏🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌👏👏👐👐👐👐👐🙏✊🙌✊💔🌞🌕🤗✨
People who work here are nice and we adopted a little kitty from here
People are very nice and understanding. Do understand they are very busy they might not always answer the phone. Please go adopt some many loving dogs and cats we adopted a little black cat he is so adorable and friendly!
Really nice staff and very knowledgeable about the animals there. Im so happy that I adopted my dog, Oreo, from there.
The environment and people are great and so concerned of people and animals. Great place.
Horrible place. I’ll never adopt a dog from there again. I had two dogs enter my fenced in yard and attacked my dog to the point of almost death. I provided them with video footage and even drove them to the place where the two dogs were located and to this day nothing has been done. My dog almost died. And I had to foot a $400 vet bill. And where are these two vicious dogs? Still roaming the neighborhood. This animal shelter is a joke. They were just on Meet Your Neighbor pretending to be the nicest people ever for people to go and adopt their dogs, they don’t care about the dogs there and they don’t care about the safety of your dogs either. I wish I could give them a 0 rating.
08052019 why are you guys even getting a new shelter. You guys sent somebody out and did nothing of course. The owners havent been here for months so they forfeit the right to be notified. I have been providing food and water for this poor horse. This poor horse is actually trying to live. I am so disgusted. This is a life and death situation for this animal. If I could provide medical services I would do so. I cant Im a disabled veteran. I dont have the money. Tea is suffering. He can barely walk. I wanted to give you no star but I wouldnt be able to post this complaint. So take your one star. You guys dont deserve this building.08042019 I have been calling you guys for this horse and nothing has been done. So I called you today and we will see if you guys make a move. (The irony is the new animal shelter is coming across the street from us.) Today while feeding this horse, I watched him struggle to walk to the fence to the food. Have you ever seen a horse walk in writhing pain? Its hard to watch. We have been feeding him, making sure he gets water, and caring for him for awhile now at our own expense and horses are expensive. If I could afford to have a vet come and drain what I believe to be an abscess from his feet then the horse would be ok. Im a veteran on a fixed income though. I can only do what I can. I hate that people brought this animal here and just left it to survive on its own. It cant. We have a responsibility to animals as stewards of this world. It blows my mind that nobody really cares but I care. I hate that Tea can barely walk. Please help him. All I need you guys to do is to provide medical aid and I will do the rest as I have previously. I cant watch this animal suffer.
I looked for my dog everywhere yesterday. Neighbors told me she was picked up because she was chasing a sweet little boy in a bike she didn’t bite or whatever she was so happy following being friendly- I understand their fear but I’m glad she wasn’t hurt or anything- picked up instead- she got locked up at shelter and I came in first thing in the morning begged them to get my dog back. I’m deaf. I always have her around. She’s a service dog. They bought her out immediately after I asked em to put microchip in her that way she will always be safe- she will always be found if she gets lost again. So happy to have her back home with me- and I feel so so safe with her here. Thank you so much!!
The staff is caring and the animals are well cared for.
Great people doing their best. Lobby can get crowded.
Very awesome place they do a good job at taking care of animals and finding homes for them
Caring people to serve animals in our community. It was a great experience adopting my wonderful pet Pitbull mix
Awesome place to get your furbaby!
One question I want to know what I need to sell my car that doesnt work for me
My jack Russell bit me and the bite was infected. Animal control took my 13 yr old dog. I got a call 4days later that he was sick. The dog was wet and very cold. He did in my arms hours later. He did not have rabies. The whole thing was a nightmare and I miss my dog. It was ridiculous and heartbreaking.
Wonderful staff..got me a new kitty... Seniors do not pay
Good friendly staff, helpful and empathetic towards my lost cat situation. but it is infested with fleas. The whole place.
Such nice people doing good work. Theyre very proactive at getting the pets adopted and I love that theyre becoming a no-kill shelter!
Dogs too big. Looking for a small dog
Visited today. People were very friendly. The Animals are well taken care of and loved. I wish I could adopt them all. Job well done guys!👍🏻
Nice staff was great & polite.
We got an amazing addition to our family here. Everyone was super friendly and really wanted to make sure the dog we liked went well with our personalities.
The people that work here have hearts of gold. The animals look well taken care of.
I took a ferrel cat to the animal shelter at 10:30 am and they told me they could not accept animals except between the hours of 1:00pm and 4:00 pm. They said they would send someone to my house to get the cat. The cat was in a private cage without water all night. I had no way to open the cage and give it water without letting the cat loose. When I left the animal shelter they was a lot of small dogs in the yard with no supervision. Some of the animals were mating. Surprise to the new owner.
Nice place for stray animals. No kill shelter. Staff does a great job!
Lovely people, brilliant service!!! They actually care about the animals. Ive recommended this place to lots of people
These people do awesome things!
Good organization.
Loving animals looking for a loving home. Just walk in and meet all the precious animal. Friendlyist staff.
Very helpful
They really love their animals and want the best for them.
Im sure its a tough job but treat others as you would want to be treated should be told to some of the ladies I encountered
Staff was helpful. The animals are kept in hot cages. Place needs an upgrade on the cooling and heating where the animals are kept. Disappointing
We got a little kitten from here, we are absolutely in love with him. We are happy we came here.
Didnt give me. Any info inaksed for
Great!!!!! I got a really good animal. She is awesome.
I admire people who care for peoples mistakes. All the fur babies want is to be loved and wanted.
People who work there are mean without haert.
I found a dog and wanted to try to find her owners, but the lady at the front said the only way owners would find her is if I turned her in... And she might be euthanized. I wont do that to this sweet girl.
The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They have both your interest and the animals in mind.
Sweet staff and found my forever friend!
Almost no parking. Not very friendly help, just one volunteer on duty, not very knowledgeable of adopting procedures. Facility could use a good cleaning up.
Very nice staff. Very helpful and accommodating especially when youve lost a pet.
With no response after 3 weeks, maybe they dont really have any animals to adopt?
Amazing staff that do whatever possible to help find the best furry friend. Clean facility
They are really helpful there
They are really kind people but i live about 10 minutes away from them and theyre taking almost an hour from the time i called to be here.
I recently adopted a dog named brownie and she is so loving
They recently had parvo case when we went a few months ago and they couldnt let us walk back to see the pups, and they could only walk out a select few to us.. everyone was in hazmat suits. It was kinda scary and offputting..
I spoke to a woman bright & early Friday morning (Aug 29t, 2014) about a beautiful cat I was told about that morning. We spoke about how sweet & beautiful he was & I told her I had to wait until I got off work at 4pm then Id head Straight there to get him (bc they closed at 4:30pm) I told her my name & that Id see them around 4:15pm. As SOON as I got off, I called to let them know I was on my way, she told me, Oh about that.... yea, he got adopted out 2 hours ago. I was SO disgusted with the lack of respect/courtesy to even make a call to let me know. Instead, I wasted my entire day getting ready for this cat. Bought everything I needed to take him home & they just let him go behind my back & got no warning at all that he was gone just hours after we spoke about him. Now, Ill NEVER try to adopt an animal from there again. THANKS A LOT Animal Control. Hope they are nicer to others serious about adopting from there.
The staff here was great and helped me out when I lost my cat. It can get pretty busy through the day though.
Very good shelter got my son a puppy from here.
Great fast and friendly service and the food is awesome!
We adopted our sweet daphne about 8 months ago we love her and this shelter!
We adopted a Labahoula today from the shelter. She is so far one of the best dogs weve had as a part of our family. The staff was very friendly. There was a bit of a wait because today was an adoption day and the room was full but it was a pleasnt experience. As I write this review Candy is on her bed (provided in the adoption) between my recliner and my Wifes. Im not sure whos happier, the dog or us.
Had a great time food was good👍
