I love Onsight! Their kids programs are fantastic. The coaches are so caring, enthusiastic and fun. They are professional and really serious about teaching kids the fundamental skills that they can use for a lifetime. I’ve also taken a few adult classes (I’m a beginner) and I really enjoyed the experience. This is a serious gym, with some amazingly skilled folks, but everyone is open and friendly to newbies too! Go check them out, you won’t be disappointed.
We love Onsight Rock Gym! The summer programs help build confidence and teach good healthy habits. Our daughter looks forward to her time there every summer!
This has been my gym for the last three years. The facility is awesome and the staff is amazing. They are constantly setting so there is always something new to climb. Plenty of routes for all ability levels. They do a lot to make it feel like a community.
Tall walls and nice people. The auto belays are useful for noobs like me. Had a great time.
Huge facility, great kids climbing area, the staff is kind and helpful - so much fun! The employees in charge of the kids groups could be slightly more attentive - I was basically babysitting a few kids who were supposed to be in an employee led group. I was helping several children clip in and out of their harnesses and many of them asked me to go to the bathroom (which I didnt feel comfortable doing since they werent mine, so I directed them to the front desk to ask for help.) From what I saw, I wouldnt feel comfortable leaving my kids there but I LOVE taking my kids there and we always have a great time.
I climb here once a week and I love it. I wish they had some showers but other than that I love it. The lead climbing is great and the bouldering is tough. Their training area has most of what you need as well as a binder with different training techniques.
Kids and I visited for the first time last weekend and had an awesome time. We were a little nervous when we first cme in but Paige did a great job of showing us around and making sure we were doing everything safely. We were also impressed that everyone in the gym was wearing their mask correctly and at how often the employees were cleaning. Great staff, clean building, well definitely be back!
Friendly and concerned staff. Varied routes labeled not just with difficulty rating but a littledescription providing a clue. Onsite Rock Gym runs a clean facility with fresh air. There is a lot wisely packed in the space. Classes too!
Always a great experience at Onsight!! We have been to many gyms across the country, but the personal attention and encouragement received here is like none other!! They treat you like family! Good variety of routes, as our family of 3 climbing abilities vary greatly!!😂 They have routes to service the beginner to the advanced climber. We appreciate the owners listening to feedback as well!!
Great gym. I’ve climbed across the US in lots of gyms but finally climbed in my home town local gym, so that’s neat. The parking lot sneaks up on you and I missed it the first time, maybe a sign with an arrow or maybe I’m just dumb(possible).Staff was super cool and the route setting superb. Dino is a genius I think because the flow was real. They enforced mask rules well and I felt safe climbing there. When I find myself back home I’ll be sure to visit more.
I took the intro to rock climbing class today with my two best friends and had so much fun! I was nervous to do something like this during a pandemic but their protocols they have in place are super clean and make you feel really comfortable. Our instructor Daniel went over everything as many times as we needed to feel comfortable. He was very informative without being boring. We got to climb at the end of class and then had the rest of the day as well. We also have the next session free. It’s a great upper body workout and honestly full body if you go quickly. Will be back soon!!
Onsight Rock Gym is an ideal location for new and experienced climbers. The staff are incredibly helpful, the facility is clean and bright. There is a room specifically for new climbers that has both auto belay and free climb options. There is a bouldering area with a comfortable landing pad, and the main climbing area supports auto belay, human belay, and clip in options. Its a great place to spend a day.
Took my Scouts to work on Climbing Merit BadgeThe Staff was great with the kids
I had a great time climbing at this gym, as I drove through town. Setting was varied, and had a variety of grades on the auto belays. The lead cave looks amazing, and I need to come back with a partner. They also had decent safety precautions for COVID.
I love this gym so much. The community here is great, and I always feel welcome, and the staff does a great job of keeping everything safe and clean! Huge shout out to Inam for encouraging me and helping me through any problems I encounter!
Awesome gym! Incredibly friendly staff, good equipment and very good routes. Highly recommend!
Great place. Kid friendly!
Felt very safe here, lots of climbing options, they have an entire room for kids. Love the grading system, and the staff was very friendly.
Super friendly climbing gym with lots of options for climbing.Lots of solo and group climbers who always seem happy to add another person into their belay/climbing experience. Dont be shy about asking to join in or letting the staff know that youre looking for a climbing buddy - theyre a great resource! They offer multiple auto belay routes (including in the beginners room), top rope routes, lots of lead routes, and a bouldering wall. They change multiple routes per week, so its fun to come back and try whatever is new.During COVID - masks are required for everyone in the gym. They also ask everyone to wash their hands when they enter. Definitely appreciate that attention to avoiding the spread.
Lots of people close to each other (not good during covid times). Good climbing routes. Parking is very limited. Very expensive for what they are offering.Had a very unpleasant experience with a staff member there (very rude), can’t recall his name but yeah (bald guy with a piercing on his ears), I won’t be coming back again.
The most insane mask policy Ive ever seen. A gym where you litteraly arent allowed to hydrate anywhere in the facility, under any circumstance.
Great environment where the staff members are super helpful. There is a separate section for kids/beginners so you won’t feel embarrassed if you are trying this for the first time. There are a lot of walls for anyone of any level to challenge themselves. Perfect place to spend a weekend with family and friends.
Really nice bouldering section w really challenging routes. Nice training area with awesome variety of campus boards, hangboard and crimp trainers. When Im in town im pulling up
Awesome man! Super comfortable place super cool people.
It was great! So much fun! Used the harness for climbing and worked on my fear of heights!
This is definitely the best place to top rope, lead climb, and boulder in Knoxville. Its not too expensive and the the staff is always kind and willing to help. Besides the climbing itself, this place offers an array of climbing gear (shoes, harnesses, ropes, etc...), along with a smaller selection of drinks and snacks. I love this gym.
Staff is great! Very friendly and helpful.
My family and I love this place! We come here pretty frequently and enjoy it. The walls are fun because they have all levels and self belays too! The boulder selection of the gym is also nice because it is so large. They also have a whole young kids section with all self belays. The staff and atmosphere is really nice . Although the price is a bit high it is so worth it. I cant wait to come back for the millionth time and would recommend this place to other climbers!
Doing their best during COVID. Really appreciate the efforts. Nice, clean facility. Nice people. Nothing to complain about.
Very friendly with some nice areas for all levels of climbers (especially beginners and kids).
John was super helpful and very friendly, and the top roping was stellar. I truly enjoyed my time in that portion of the gym, and I think the routesetters did a fantastic job. However the bouldering section of the gym should be addressed. The routes themselves might very well be excellent, but theres not a great way for a climber to discern that because every hold is completely caked with chalk and grime. This is incredibly correctable via a tarp and a good pressure washer when the routes are due for resetting, so I implore those in a position to make that change to do so.Overall, its a solid climbing gym, and Knoxville is quite lucky to have such a facility. I think a couple of key changes to ensure the cleanliness of the holds would take this gym from good to phenomenal.
Nice mid sized gym with very friendly staff. Facilities were very clean as well which was really nice. Every route I climbed was set really well. Will definitely swing by if Im ever driving through again.
Overall, I really did enjoy my visit to this gym and wish it had been here when I still lived in Knoxville. There are definitely some things they want to improve in case a larger gym chain like High Point comes to Knoxville. The good:-The staff were excellent, very welcoming.-Tall rope walls-Good variety of overhanging, dihedral, vertical, and even much more slab climbing than most gyms this size-Fun technique-oriented routes at all gradesThe bad:-The vinyl floor of the bouldering room makes for much harder landings than the carpeted/padded floors of most gyms-The bouldering holds were absolutely filthy. My favorite gyms all power wash their holds at every reset. The holds at this bouldering area were so covered in chalk and shoe marks, that my biggest struggles were figuring out which holds went with each route. This problem didn’t seem to exist in the rope area.- The route tags include the date created. I saw rope routes that were 2-3 months old. If I was a member of this gym, I’d be disappointed to see it take so long to have new routes set. If bouldering routes take this long to be set as well, that may explain why the holds were so filthy.- The top ropes have way too much friction. With the ropes they are using, double wrapping at the top makes them far to difficult to pull. There was a route I wanted to attempt but couldn’t because my wife wasn’t strong enough to belay with it. Even when I hung with all my weight on one end with the other end disconnected from anyone, I barely moved.
Amazing climb gym with tons of options and courses wish allowed you to qualify to go free-climbing with your own rope other than that amazing and there is no complaint
I would love to give this place 5 stars but the fact that my group of 9 had to wear masks the WHOLE time were rock climbing is ridiculous. If Im scared or anyone else is scared of getting sick, they would be staying home. Not rock climbing.🤦🏼♀️Other than that is was super fun!👌🏼
Aaron was very nice ! V friendly place for beginners like myself
Outstanding!Great fun and exercise for the whole family! What a rush!
Helpful staff and good facilities
Onsight is the best climbing gym I have ever been to! The staff is amazing and so helpful when you need it! The routes are always so fun climb and the range of difficulty is insane! Highly recommend this gym!!
Onsight Rock Gym is a wonderful facility! My husband and I are beginners at rock climbing, and the staff have been very welcoming since our first day at the gym. Inam is an excellent staff member, and has been by our side the entire way. She is very supportive and provides excellent instruction on rock climbing and top rope belaying. Check this place out!
I did a really great five week tour of south east sandstone, starting at the New, then Red and finishing at the Obed. By the time we got to Knoxville the weather was beginning to turn and we had to deal with a fair amount of rain. Onsight Rock Gym was a perfect place to keep the climbing going in spite of the weather. The staff was super friendly, lead routes were really well thought out with great flow. Im not much of a bouldered but what I did sample there was very good. Oh and I took an amazing yoga class there as well. Dont miss this place if you find yourself in Knoxville, as modern climbing gyms go this place is a gem.
My family and I love Onsight Rock Gym! Id never been a fan of climbing inside before I found this gym. The routes get updated enough so that its impossible to get bored. The staff is friendly, the music is great and the place just has an overall very cool and welcoming vibe.
Came here while on business travel to boulder and work out. Onsight sets some good thinking problems, and the V ratings were on par with other gyms Ive been to. Good community of very strong climbers!
Ive been to many gyms over the 20+ years Ive been climbing, and Onsight is without doubt my favorite. High quality creative route setting, frequent route refreshing, friendly and personable staff, awesome kids section (with a boulder-slide combo!), clean and well looked after. Love this place!
We try to climb here every Monday night. The staff is very helpful and the gym is in great condition. Love the different levels of difficulty. Additionally nice big workout and bouldering center. Best gym in Knoxville!
I walked into Onsight as a new Knoxville resident and without a climbing partner, but very quickly was surrounded by a great community. After only a few visits all of the staff greeted me by name. Clean place, frequently updated climbing routes, and great events and competitions. Thanks for all you guys do!
Onsight is an amazing gym! The people there and staff are so nice! I have never met a rude person there ever! I am on Team Onsight, my coaches are super supportive and have improved my climbing so much! The owners, Christian and Yoli, are so kind and generous! Onsight is overall an amazing fun gym I definitely recommend!!
I live in Chatt and the only downside is not having a gym like Onsight here. A place to climb and train, get your workout in! The kids section does not detract or cause distraction so it’s great for all ages and for all levels! Friendly great staff and walls are set to meet every climbers need. They don’t solely promote just gym climbers but encourage everyone to get outside. So aside from actually climbing outside this can’t be beat!
Very, very nice gym. I visited Knoxville for the weekend and found this gym to get some climbing in. Great staff and the climbing was amazing. I mostly boulder but was super inspired by the rope climbing. The bouldering section is smallish, but has lots of really fun problems and is laid out efficiently so about 10 or more people could be on the wall at one time. The rock walls are impressive and have routes that could push almost anyone. I think they said they had 5.13 max.Cant say enough great things about the overall experience. Everything felt safe and secure, everything was clean, and I was able to climb for several hours without touching the majority of routes, and only climbing routes once. If I lived in Knoxville Id already be signed up for a membership.
This place is super cool I loved it there was plenty of things to do for just starting out as well as for the experts. They are very friendly and welcoming. There was no pressure to do any of the walls I was uncomfortable doing there are roped areas as well as free climb walls.
Onsight is a really great gym! The bouldering area is huge and I love the auto belays in the main room. Also, the staff and the regulars are so friendly.
We had my sons birthday party here and it was wonderful! The staff was very friendly and went above and beyond to meet our needs. The private party room was awesome and the kids loved it. All the others parents were very impressed as well and want to book their next parties here. We will definitely be back!
Great customer service, plenty of room and options, and very helpful staff for climbing tips etc. Highly recommended! I would definitely encourage joining their teams, too. The only con, I guess, would be the pricing for a day pass if you arent planning on being there long.
Great experience: wonderful indoor activity for small kids, friendly staff, clean facilities, and reasonable prices. You wont be disappointed!Shout out to Christian who gave our little ones a shot at the big wall!
This was our second time . First time was great. The gentleman that assisted us the first time with our 3 years old . This time we were treated very poorly. We walked in and were greeted by a young lady that seemed to think that we shouldnt be there because she kept asking if we where sure that we had been there before. We paid for our 17 year old and our 3 year old . Then as we turned around to take our 3 year old to climb in the area they have for little ones, we saw it was closed for yoga. We asked about it and where told that we can have a refund if we did the want to wait for yoga to be over. WHAT....SERIOUSLY. sold me a ticket to climb then offer a refund . No thank you, my 3 years old wants to climb not leave. Thank you for the great customer service as we walked out.
I have had great experiences at Onsite. The facility is very clean and well maintained and the staff is very friendly. Inam helped me get started at the gym and was very helpful.
Awesome place. The staff is amazing whether you’re a beginner or an old pro!
Great experience. The staff is very professional. Membership seems pricey compared to other gyms but you definitely get what you pay for and the price is worth it. Im so happy to have this gym in Knoxville.
My kids loves climbing here! A lot of great energy.
Very nice people, clean and such a great way to stay in shape and meet new people. With plenty of great routes, classes, yoga and more there is just so much to like. Give it a try for sure, you wont regret it.
Best rock climbing gym in Knoxville. Great staff, great routes, very clean, and the music isn’t annoying as hell.Been going for 8 months between trips to the Red River Gorge and I always return to new routes and stay all day
Ive been a member since they opened, phenomenal staff and facility. Routes are changed frequently enough that you can work on a project but also never wait long for new challenges. Ive visited close to 20 other climbing gyms on the east coast. Onsight is always in the Top 3.
Such a friendly and helpful staff! Especially Daniel and Ashley! A great place for climbers of all levels!!
Fun routes with a good cluster in the 5.9/5.10 range (closer to 5.9). The setters are definitely tall people who enjoy high stepping but the routes themselves are fun with some nice moves.
This place is awesome and the staff are the best.we will be back agin and agin my 9 year old had such a good time and cant wait to come back and to the guy that coached her all the way to the top thank you it Taught her to believe in her self and never give up)
Great place to climb for all ages.
My first time climbing was with Inam at ladies night. She did a good job of introducing lady climbers to each other and shes so encouraging and definitely a big reason why I immediately felt so comfortable at this gym!!!
My daughter (6 y.o.) participated in one of Onsights winter break climbing camps. It was fantastic, and she really enjoyed herself. The Onsight staff are all kind, patient, and friendly. She is looking forward to a climbing summer camp!
I’ve been to a lot of rock gyms over the past 5 years and this one is by far the worst. The holds were disgusting. The bouldering section was lack luster. The staff did not seem like they wanted to be there. I will say that their lead section is pretty nice; however, they do not have that many top roping routes. I’ve been twice now and will not be returning; it is just unfortunate that it is the only legitimate climbing gym in Knoxville.
Great facility and staff! Super fun for adults and children. Can’t wait to go back again.
Great staff
We had our 7yo sons bday party at Onsight Rock Gym! It was, by far, one of the best birthday parties we have ever been to! The kids had full access to the large kids area which included a wall that leads to a slide as well as other higher climbing areas. The kids (ranged in age from 3-almost 8) climbed for almost 2 hours straight. The best part was watching the kids that came in apprehensive become confident climbers by the end of the party. We decided to do cake about an 1hr into the party (in the same rooms) but the kids didnt take long to eat because they were so excited to get back to climbing. highly recommended!
They dont give student or military discounts, and the kid that checked my wife and I in was quite rude and told us that because he didnt like the way Ive been belaying for 20 years(its muscle memory) we couldnt climb and gave us a hard time when we asked for our money back. Its really nice Im there though.
Such an amazing place with friendly staff. Really tall walls and a lot of routes. Bouldering wall is great as well.
This place is a physical activity junkies dream . Gives you a great full body workout and it is a blast . The front desk guy was very knowledgeable and helpful . They even rented shows to me . Highly recommend this place
I didnt climb but I watched my niece and daughter and great-nephew climb. Staff was very nice and place was very clean.
Great climbing gym. Clean, friendly employees, and they host great competitions.
This summer I would have given Onsight a 5, there was a good gradation of routes and I was able to work different skills. Today I would given Onsight a 1. There are a lot of routes but few ropes and 90% are clustered in one corner, my partner fell off 5 feet up and swung into a belayer on the other wall. Also while in this corner my partner was climbing a 5.11 and kids were playing under her on the auto belay. It gets nerve wracking. The routes were 5.6s and 5.7s you could walk up or a hard 5.10 that I couldnt complete without a little color blindness. And whats up with the sexual reference on the route Jennys body? Ugghh... Onsight has a lot of potential, high walls, a ton of routes, and a lot of space, I just wish they could meet that potential.
Excellent and innovative facilities with a supportive community. All at a reasonable price.
Lots of routes. Great family fun. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable.
Lots of top rope and lead routes, knowledgeable and friendly staff, very clean, nice facility
The Four Seasons of climbing gyms...great staff, clean rooms, and legit routes.
Routes are well thought out, the gym is very clean and very atestietic, and the staff is friendly and reasonable. A little on the pricy side.
Great gym. Routes are really fun, friendly staff, nice layout, and family friendly.
The routes are super fun and are changes often to keep it interesting
Ive booked several group sessions here and the staff are always professional, helpful, and fun. The gym itself offers climbs that are challenging to a wide array of climbers as well.
I climb here at least twice a week and the facilities are always clean, the staff are like family and the prices are great
Great summer camp program - thanks for offering it!
Great facilities, good-vibes atmosphere, and friendly staff.
Awesome place and awesome staff! Looking forward to my son getting to attend their summer camp :)
An exceptional climbing facility and staff. Our new family hang out!
This place is sick
Awesome place for kids & adults
Bouldering is lack luster and lacks enough intermediate problems
