We just moved back to STL from out of state and needed the inspection and emissions testing plus an oil change. I chose Giannini’s because of the reviews and it was close to our new location. Very kind and professional staff and there were no pushy sales or telling me what I needed to do. They texted me a few days later to check on my car and sent letters thanking me for my service. I’ve never had an auto service take that type of time to reach out to me. Lovely people, I will definitely be back!
Don inspected our car. He squeezed us in the night before a long road trip. He stayed well after hours to make sure we would be taken care of, and we picked up the car later that evening. We actually picked it up before they could pop a new air filter in, so Don drive to my house to finish the job. Never in my life have we had service that great. These folks are really great.
Gianninis is a place of caring and knowledgeable people. As a young women who knows little about cars, I know it can be difficult to find a place that I feel gives me honest feedback and prices - Gianninis was that honest place. I had a leak from my car and brought it in on the snowy day earlier this week. They identified it as a break in the engine oil cooler part - and ordered a part for me. Given that it was snowing really hard, the place that was delivering the auto part was being flaky and couldnt get it to us. Don - the owner of Gianninis - went out on his sick day off to get the piece in the snow, so I could get it done and Kenny, the mechanic, stayed late to finish up. Truly appreciate all there help! My one piece of feedback would be to have kept me a bit more updated throughout the process of the two days - but I think they were doing the best they could with a shorter staff on a snow day. I went to Gianninis for the first time to have my brakes checked. The reception there was warm and friendly. I was given an orientation booklet about preventive maintenance which was helpful. It turned out that my brakes were fine. The charge was nominal, and no unnecessary maintenance was performed. This is the kind of family owned business I was seeking, as they know their reputation depends on being straightforward and not trying to charge for unnecessary work. I will definitely be back!
Ali gave the best service and was very honest about what my car needed. The service was unbelievably fast. Pricing was great. Dont think I could have gotten a better deal else where. I will always be using him whenever I need anything done for my car. Super Impressed!!!!!
I have a very unusual schedule that rarely leaves me with enough time to perform regular car maintenance. When I had an unexpected free day, Don and his team worked to get me in quickly. After completing their recommended maintenance, my 10 year old car is running better than ever -- as smoothly and responsively as when I first bought it. I highly recommend their service!

I had a flat tire and live around the corner so I went there to get it fixed. They were able to get me in that day. Very nice people.

My daughter brought her Volkswagen Passat in because it wouldn’t start and the check engine light was on. They had it for a week and a half and still could not diagnose the problem. He said they were looking for an electrical problem. Flushed out the coolant and replaced it with the wrong coolant. Volkswagens take pink as stated in the owners manual. It started after they found a blown fuse so we had her bring it to our mechanic in Joplin. It took our mechanic less than an hour to figure out what was wrong and they told us it was covered under the Volkswagen extended warranty and we should take it to a Dealership for repair. Volkswagen replaced the heater core at no charge but Giannini’s charged my daughter almost $700.00 to replace a fuse and put the wrong coolant in her car. We paid our mechanic $300 to flush out the incorrect coolant because it could have voided the warranty. Offered her a free loaner car to drive but only after 8 business days and she told him she was taking the car to a different shop. Have no other choice but to file a complaint with the attorney generals office. He has charged other customers with extensive diagnostic charges with no results.

Wife and I brought her car in for engine light/idling loudly. They claimed to be unable to determine the issue, but only after running several hours of diagnostic tests, which the owner admitted himself were too complicated to decipher. Still, our bill was nearly $900. Potential cost estimate was never clearly outlined. Advise against bringing business here.

After so many horrible experiences with misogynistic mechanics at dealerships, I gave Giannini’s a shot because they are close to home and had good reviews. Now I finally have a high quality mechanic that I can trust, who doesn’t treat me like I am ignorant just because I am a female. No more “there’s nothing wrong with your brakes ma’am”, as they squeal at every stop, for this gal. Gianninis Auto Service significantly reduced the stress of a very challenging car problem during our trip cross country. We hit a piece of concrete in the middle of I-44 in Kirkwood, MO & it cracked the rear differential box. Fortunately, AAA directed us to Gianninis. They were absolutely wonderful! We could have been delayed many days with a repair like this. After Ken did a very thorough inspection of the car to make sure there wasnt more damage, Don was able to locate a used part from the same year car. He managed to have them deliver it the next morning & before the end of the day, the car was repaired. They even drove us to & from a local hotel while we waited. They took care of us as quickly as possible. They were very empathetic to our anxiety & did everything possible to make this as easy on us as possible. They followed up with a call several days later to make sure we were happy with the repair. The car drove perfectly for the remaining 1400 miles on our trip home. I cant tell you how much we appreciated their care & expertise. In addition to their excellent work, it is incredibly uplifting to know that there are still businesses in this country that truly know what real customer service is all about. I was referred here by my boyfriend who has been bringing his mini here for a few years. All of my services have been completed in a timely manner and completely fixed the issues. Don is great about explaining what’s happening and his experience with the problems. They are thorough at explaining their methodology for repairs. I waited until the last minute for my emissions and safety inspections but they were able to get me in a few days after I called. They were very kind, drove me back to work while they worked on my car, and picked me up when I was finished. Definitely recommend if you’re in Kirkwood!

About a year ago, I spent 6500.00 on engine and transmission replacement. Since then I have spent over 2000.00 to repair the auxiliary items around these components, some of which I thought would be replaced with the engine and transmission. Since day 1 I complained that the transmission was defective. Hence the auxiliary expenses. I did as requested, still felt issues with transmission, which was never directly addressed. Then right before it failed, I left a voicemail and went in. They replaced the intake bladder which was dry rotted. I paid 185.00 for a 5 dollar part and included labor. The very next day I complained the transmission was still having issues, he explained I needed to wait for the computer to reset. The following weekend, the transmission failed. After towing it to and then getting it to his shop, he claimed I was 85 miles over the warranty, but the company agreed to warranty the item. Now, when we talk warranty I was quoted over 2000.00, then it changed and then I never agreed to the work, he replaced the item and immediately told me there was a storage fee. this was after calling me 1/2 hour before they closed on a Friday to tell me the work was complete. The previous day the transmission they received was the incorrect one. Yet a miracle happened and without my consent a replacement was installed and the car was ready. In a nutshell, he is a con and if you look on his lot there are a lot of donated autos. I am sure for similar reasons. I have signed affidavits from reputable repair facilities stating there would never be a charge on a warrantied item. As a consumer you have been warned. I was the fool who put all of this money into a 1999 automobile.Ed Yamamoto

Don was able to get me in a day early when my Ford Escape water pump bit the dust. He was also able to get the work done by COB that same day so there was no disruption between my wife and I, as she had borrowed my car to go to work that morning. Also, recommend BG products, as using those products are beneficial and they stand behind any issues, thanks to Dons persistence.
Don thoroughly explains the issues with your car. He also takes an approach no dealer would dare. His intent is to keep your car on the road for all long as possible at the minimal cost. Great shop overall.
Everything you would want in a professional mechanic. Don solved a difficult mechanical problem with my 98 Lincoln and now it is a good as it was when new. I can always trust and rely upon Don to fix whats wrong and do it at a fair price.
I have been a customer for 12 years and I am distressed that I have to find a new shop due to our move out of state. Don and his crew have taken us from 5K miles to 222,000 in one car (Camry) with no breakdowns or surprise auto repairs. While the preventative maintenance costs may make you wince, it is worth it for the peace of mind that your car is reliable because it is being well maintained. Further, I find Gianninis to be trustworthy. More than a few times they have found a used part for my older vehicle or even done a little research to determine that our Mini Cooper might not need that extensive repair as it first appeared.

My wife and I were traveling in a friends car through St. Louis to a funeral, and the tire pressure sensors indicated the tires were low. We stopped and Don immediately got an air hose out and corrected the pressure in our tires. We so appreciate folks like Don and we hope him all the success with his business. AIRBORNE!

I have used Gianninis to service my 2002 Toyota Camry for about four years. I am not knowledgeable about cars, but I have become convinced that the people at Gianninis not only know what they are doing, they have a system that tracks the customers auto to keep it in tip top shape. They are sincere about their service. It produces good results. What is my evidence?One service they sold me on is called an air induction. This was over 12,000 miles ago. At the time I was skeptical. The car at the time had about 125,000 miles on it.The air induction service is a system for blowing out all the carbon that has built up in your engine. Again, I am not knowledgeable about cars, air induction sounded to me like a doubtful service, I am 63 years old, but when I drove my car away from Gianninis that day I felt like I was 18. The car was so amazingly peppy that I could not avoid peeling rubber each time I took off from a stop sign. It was/is great. (I have since managed to adjust my foot on the peddle, but confess that sometimes on the highway I cannot help by put my car to the test.)Best wishes,Dan Jones
Nicest people ever. Had a flat tie in kirkwood and was stuck. They came out and took care of everything. Got the car to the shop. Gave us a ride. It was a total blowout so they were able to order a new tire and get it on quickly. Called the local tire shop we usually use and they told us to have the car towed and they’d try to work us in. Its not the first time theyve turned a disaster into a wonder. When I dropped my transmission several years ago in Kansas City, they got my car back here, oversaw the replacement and sent me on my happy way. Last month when my insurance company rendered my 23 year old classic a salvage vehicle, they chased down all the parts needed for repair and its running like a top again. Gianninis oversight of my car care has allowed me to keep this family heirloom so full of memories and so beloved by me. I hope its the last car I ever own, and they will help me see to that. After years of going with the budget option (cheapest possible chain auto repair shop) I finally stopped in to Gianninis upon recommendation from my neighbor. I was not disappointed, Don helped me to diagnose lingering issues which were missed by multiple checkups at budget chains. With help from Gianninis I hope to be able to keep the car I have going for a long long time.
It is Very disappointing to learn how this owner treats his employees. This owner is refusing to pay a former employee for work that had already been completed. The owner is unhappy because the employee no longer wished to work for him and did not like the work being asked of him for how little he was offered for pay.
I highly recommend Gianninis! Don has been taking care of my van for over 3 years. It has 170k miles and with his philosophy of upkeep I hope to get near 170K more!! He has helped me over the phone while I was stranded in the middle of Georgia. They really care about the cars and the people that drive them!!
I have been taking my vehicles to GIANINNIs for about 20 years. A 1994 EXPLORER got to about 160k miles, a 2000 ESCALADE is still running at 270k miles and a 2002 INFINITI is running at 175k miles. They offer the BG system that warrants most items on the car if you maintain their program and start before 75k miles. They maintain computerized records of every visit for service or repair and they try and keep you on a preventative maintenance schedule to help extend lif of your vehicle.The services they recommend are always explained and you can decline but at least you know the possible consequences. I try to consolidate the service recommendations so that one trip gets several of them done as I sue vehicles on the road daily for work. If something unexpected comes up they call with explanation and cost and for authorization. I have never felt they were pushing stuff to pad the bill - car repairs frequently uncover secondary problems that are best repaired while the car is opened up and on the rack. I also think they are too busy to tie up their shop and mechanics with unneeded stuff. Also I feel they want the vehicle to run when they are done and not have a return and squable over something that should have been part of the original job.I always recommend GIANINNIS when someone is looking for competent complete service or repairJohn S

Needed my new brake pads put on. Pretty simple right, you bring your own brake pads, they put them on for you? Well they charged me 325 dollars to put them on. I feel cheated because I think I overpaid about 125 bucks. I mean, its just putting on some new pads, thats it. Theyll tell you they do a better job than anywhere else too. If you want to fix your car, save your money, and not feel like youve been cheated then go somewhere else. Ill never go back.
We have always had good service. When they work on our vehicles they always stand behind their work. We have not broken down on the roadside since weve started getting our vehicles repaired at Gianninis. I usually drop my vehicle off and they give me a ride to work and pick me up on time.
I had two flat tires and Don came and picked me up, dropped me off at the school I teach at, and then came back to the school to get me to bring me to the shop when my car was ready. This was on top of doing a phenomenal job with my car. Don and the rest of the Gianinis crew are dedicated to their customers and are fantastic at what they do. Couldnt recommend them more!
Worst customer service I have ever had. They up charge everything. Tried to charge me 43 dollars for windshield wipers and 24 dollars for coolant. Also charge people a supply charge which is 30 dollars for quote towels and cleaning supplies and all they were doing was a diagnostic over view of my car. Dont go to this shop, its over priced.Plus when I questioned the charge they dropped it immediately. Later as I was leaving the shop owners son flipped me off. Wow.
Hi Gianninis! I miss Kirkwood in general and you guys in particular. So bittersweet to see my beloved Missouri license plates come off my car and be replaced with boring ugly Massachusetts license plates. Sigh. My new car fix-it guy up here blathered on and on and on and on and on about how well-taken-care of my car is and how he cant believe it has that many miles and how in shape it is. So thanks for the years of trusty service!I forwarded your email to let him know what needed to be done, and he did all of them. That said, he doesnt give lifetime oil changes nor does he input the car history into a computer so we can better keep track of what should be done, etc. Dang. I miss St. Louis and you guys!

I cant even put into words how much this family helped me out when I was utterly helpless. I will do my best though. First off Debbie was understanding and helpful. She took my call first thing this absolutely unlucky Monday and made me feel right at home. Then, these two heros come rolling up. My Beetle made every single step that much more difficult. From locking nuts with improv methods to get it out (1), a spare that wouldnt fit even after swapping out the wheel so I had a solid tire that was serious out of whack (2) to finding out the problem all along was not a quick fix (3). Three trips this guy made. Mid ride I find out my savior and quick thinker was actually the owner, Don. The person who drove out to me to try and get me back on the road instead of a tow fee and was fighting with my stubborn vehicle owned the company (29 years I hear). His son Chris tagged along the first go around to assist with the green pain in the ass.Well several HOURS later the man has me in front of the computer screen and showing me legitimate prices from about a dozen different vendors that he buys his parts from. He showed me how he can check everyone one of them and go with whoever was cheaper (he called up the cheapest guy) and was a great conversation.I highly highly recommend this shop. If I could give it more stars I would.Also, I dont ever write reviews.Thanks again to this rad little family. Keep kicking ass

Horrible customer service. actually, Ive never had worse. if I could give zero stars I would. It started off with their tow service claiming to arrive within 35-40 minutes, however the hour long wait put a sour taste in my mouth. Once my vehicle finally arrives at the shop they used half a tank of gas in my car doing a pressure test without my consent, to find something out that I already knew (that I had a minute oil leak, to the tone of a few drops every few hours at highway levels of activity) and told them of said issue when the car was dropped off in the first place. they then went on to tell me I ABSOLUTELY NEEDED a new battery, when in reality all I needed was a few minutes with a wire brush to scrape off some corrosion, so that the battery could receive a proper charge from the alternator while in motion. so therefore, they either outright lied to me in an attempt to extort money, or they are actually so incompetent that they cant figure that out. next, they told me that the oil sensor and the oil pump probably NEEDED to be changed to be safe to drive (outright lie, its just a bad sensor), and that it was going to cost in the 800$ neck of the woods to even get my car running at a level where it was safe to drive down the street (biggest lie of all). I needed some TLC with a wire brush and a 25$ sensor. they charged me 120$ to do a test I didnt want or need, to tell me something I had already known, and told to them when my car got there in the first place. if you want help of a higher quality than this place; go somewhere else. probably anywhere else, actually. I am disgusted by their businesses practices, and hope that they dont get away with taking advantage of a customers ignorance in the future. I cant speak to quality of work that they do, because after how they behaved I refused to let them do any further work to my car. I drove my unable to be safely driven car home, and spent very little time correcting what they should have known was the problem from the get go. oh and i almost forgot, this was all after my car sat in their shop for 3 days because they didnt have time to spot the simple fix needed the entire day on friday . never again. 5/3/2015.

Came in with a water leak, Suburban overheating and expecting a blown head gasket. These guys are the best. It was a broken water fitting, not a hose. it took the mechanic less than one minute to find it.I highly recommend this shop.

DO NOT USE THIS REPAIR SHOP!!!! HE HAS FILED BANKRUPTCY. YOU WILL NOT HAVE ANY RECOURSE. WE DID NOT KNOW THIS TILL AFTER TAKING OUR CAR THERE. HE IS TRYING TO MAKE AS MUCH MONEY AS HE CAN.WE TOOK OUR CAR THERE HE MIS DIAGNOSED IT STILL CHARGED USTHE DIAGNOSIS FEE ALSO THE UNNECESSAY PART OF 700.00. PLUSCHARGED US THE PART THAT ACTUALLY WAS THE PROBLEM. HE DOES NOT PAY HIS SUPPLIERS, I WAS IN THERE THREE TIMES AND2 OF THOSE THREE TIME PARTS PEOPLE WERE THERE TRYING TOCOLLECT MONEY BEFORE HE COULD PURCHASE FROM THEM. ROYAL GATE DODGE WAS IN TRYING TO COLLECT ON A 6500.00 TWO YEAR OLD BILL. I REALLY CANTT BELIEVE PEOPLE CAN STAY IN BUSINESS THIS WAY.

I moved from NJ to MO and i brought my car here for inspection along with showing the brake issue, they diagnosed the issue with brake pad and suggested to replace it, and charged me 1100 $ for 2 brake pad change it was clearly lootingafter that repair car was making noise and took it back to them and they are not ready to accept it and was asking me to change the tier and oil changei took it to bommarito nissan and they diagnosed the issue and fix it free of cost as part of 25000 miles maintenancebe careful with them
Took my car in for repairs, and received a faulty part, not to mention the fact that they dirtied up the car and left the hood open when I came to pick it up. Brought it back after having someone else look at it, when I told them the problem they got accusatory towards me, and even tried being a little intimidating. I eventually got them to replace the faulty part, but they cross the wires with the heater causing more problems with my car, and again they left my car dirty. EDIT: They responded saying I had a rodent in the car, not true. They called me a she, Im a male. They said I needed it back the same day, not true. They must be thinking of another customer that they screwed over.
