We had to buy a new modem and they told us that installing it would be easy and simple. We have gone a week now with no internet and the 24 hour service number keeps us on hold for about 2 hours daily before dropping the call. When we call the store it’s always customer service who answers and then they try to transfer us to IT but then we’re again on hold for 50 minutes to an hour and then the call drops. It seems that they simply do not care about us.
As an individual with limited income, I appreciate Sparklights choice to give the customer a break
I like Sparklight as they tend to have very few interruptions. The only thing that really bothers me about the company is the exorbitant price I pay per month! It is ridiculously high just to have television stations that I will actually watch. It will take me getting the new kind of TV where I can subscribe to what I want to see and not have to pay even half of what Im paying now and still get Wi-Fi Internet and phone connection. But until my present television completely dies, I am not going to get another TV because I cant afford to throw away a TV that is working just fine. So basically I am being charged about twice what people are charged who have the newer types of TV because I have an older TV. Like I said I do like the fact that they are hardly ever offline, but sometimes either the Internet or my phone which is connected to Sparklight will be offline for a while. But I dont have constant troubles because if I did I would change companies.
Slow to change company, few pricing options. Very expensive, do not offer a flat fee internet with decent speed and GB. Based out of Phoenix, consider plan like COX in Phoenix of $49.98 for 50 mpbs and a larger data plan. Still closed due to pandemic which is sad, one year later, and Covid cases way down. No way to contact marketing to even talk to them about being a partner in the community. Only option currently in rural area so have to use this company. If competition ever comes in, they are toast.
The 3 hours a day we have uninterrupted service is fine. The rest of the day it yo yos between 1 and 70 mbs. Cant plan or do anything. No movies, shows, or games because who wants to get half way through for the service to bottom out.
Service was fairly easy to set up for the first time. There are times when streaming TV pauses and buffers, but otherwise, Ive had no problems.
So far so good, moving in about a month, hope it continues.
The internet service is fine and the online and automated systems are functional for setting up service. We have had recent disappointment with the new lines that were connected to our properties which were left laying in the yard, not buried. Also felt the company should have been more forthcoming about their policies about not entering homes for installations during COVID-19. I would not have paid for installation had I known the technician was not supposed to enter the home to do what I had paid for him to do.
If you sign a business contract with Sparklight you will be held to the contract even if you move to another location where they do not provide service. In the contract I understood that if one moved to a new location where the service was not offered then the contract would end. I am now paying for a contract that will not end until 2023 and have no service. Very disappointed.
If i could rate the internet quality and billing services at zero stars, i would.if i could afford the esteemed, nay, fabled support from the competant and worthy technician known as Jacob, i would.
Customer service is very rude and sarcastic. Not helpful at all. When I called looking for an internet provider, the guy asked why do you want to do that? What do you want that for? Along with a few other senseless comments. Not helpful at all... Very rude and very unprofessional! I finally just hung up on him. Definitely lost a possible customer here and will not recommend them to anyone!
Do NOT use them. Internet will go out for days, they will put you on hold to speak to a representative for ages, they do not do their jobs correctly. Do NOT waste your money and time on this horrible company. They do not read the data I use properly. I have gone from using my allotted 350GB a month to somehow over a TB a month, with them already having me set over my limit before the billing cycle even starts.
Terrible. Do not use them. Unstable connections have had problems for the year we’ve had them.
I may have been on hold for half an hour, but as soon as I was speaking to a real person, everything went fast and smoothly. I appreciate my technician, Jacob, coming out to hook everything up. He was awesome :) And I appreciate that the company is taking precautions during this pandemic to protect their employees by having them not come into houses if it can be helped.
Instillation was fine, but the minimum package isn’t not enough to support 3 laptops at one time or 3 phones at one time
We had issues with a weak signal Our serviceman, Jacob, was right on top of it. In less than an hour, he had re-route the cable, made a new connection, and re-established our connection better than ever.
Visited briefly to return modem I had been renting for years. These things are incredibly easy to install. The people working there are very good at customer service. They have 24 hour tech support and best of all you get to talk to an actual person . If you dont have Cable internet and are thinking about getting it, I would recommend this place. They are offering deals for new customers. And do look into getting your own modem, only check the model with them before you buy. Its elementary, Watson 🤔🤔🤔🤔
Outrageously expensive and the service is terrible. It goes out all of the time. The speed is less than half of what is advertised. This is the worst internet provider Ive ever had.
Technician Jacob did a great job. Handled professionally, fast & minimally invasive in our home. Thanks!
The call center needs some work, but the local technician was great.I called because my internet was out. The woman who answered the tech support line told me that my address was on the outage map, that they were working on it, but there was no eta yet. I called back four hours later to see if they had some sort of eta at that point and the young man told me there had never been an outage in my area and that he would need to send a technician out, and would three days from then be okay?! I said absolutely not, and to his credit he was very nice and was able to get a technician to come the same day.Jacob, the technician, was excellent. He was prompt, courteous, immediately identified the problem and fixed it. I could not ask for more of a technician.
Terrible customer service. Internet goes out and they will not give a time of when they will fix it. DO NOT GET THIS INTERNET PROVIDER!
The local office had a technician at my house less than an hour after the call. He was thorough, friendly, and skilled. Compared to Internet providers Ive had in multiple states (and overseas), CableOne is definitely one of the best weve had. Id give the technician 7 out of 5 stars if possible!
So fast and friendly and informational! Jacob was awesome!
They have TERRIBLE customer service; and based on their reviews, they do not care. The automated system HANGS UP on you if you try to get an operator. They do have amazing installers, which is why they got 2 stars. If they could get their phone service to match the install service, they would be great.
They did a good job on resetting my modem for me when I needed it getting everything cleared up back to running good again
Overnight my internet speeds were terrible despite having good signals. I called in and everyone was super helpful and invested in getting my problem fixed. Since they couldnt do it remotely, they put in a work order for the very next day. The technician arrived on time and within minutes had figured out the problem and provided a solution. (If Jon is your tech, know you are in good hands!) I couldnt be happier.
Wonderful services! Very fast and simple! Estimated install time was 1 hour and 5 mins. And it only took him 30 mins max.. Very pleased with our experience !!
Read the other reviews as they tell the truth. Worst cable company ever! The person I talked to at the office was rude and callus. I have noticed that front line people typically reflect the company they work for. You would think they would read their own reviews and do something. In a competitive world they would lose. No other choice in town.
I love my internet but hate that every few months I have to reset my T.Vo or they are always updating so no warning that we wont have cable,it would be nice to know when were not going to have cable since we pay so much for the services, they need to take something off your bill for that.
I agree that the data caps are very strict and every where else that i have ever lived has been a little more flexible. On the other hand they have really good availability of the internet service. i never had any issues with the service being down. The Local Tech guys are really good at what they do as well. Over all Great Local Service and and internet service but Poor Data Cap rules and Poor Phone support.
If there was any other viable option, I wouldnt waste more money on this company. I already cancelled my tv service due to terrible service and product. Internet never even comes close to the advertised speed and cuts out all the time. When you do call, they assume youre an idiot who knows nothing about computers and treat you as such. Worst cable company Ive ever dealt with.
This review is for Cable One internet, not TV.Speed: Good. Its usually around the speed we pay for, though sometimes it dips significantly lower. The worst part is the stupidly low data caps.Reliability: Good. It works most of the time, probably about 99%. Although most tech companies have a goal of 99.999% uptime, so I think Cable One doesnt meet industry standards here.Customer Service: Good. Ive only had to call 2 times, and both were easy and pleasant. Other reviews say its horrible though.
I only put 2 stars because the service tech was super nice. But the connection is so so so bad that we switched from them 5 years ago and after one month just recently, we are switching again. Oh my word, its so terrible!!
I have internet and cable with Cable One. Service is fine - remote control for DVR is huge and only half the buttons work. They indicate that they use the generic remote from a vendor and yes not all the buttons work on the remote. You have to switch to DVR to use many of the menu and settings and then switch back to TV. Remote is not user friendly and really does very little for such a huge piece of equipment. Clunky to use compared to my old Direct TV remote. No 30 second advance on the DVR on a program. $15 extra per month for a poor excuse of a DVR; inability to hit one key to record. If you get an American for support, it is great. If you get an overseas person, support is horrible. They kept putting me on hold and after 30 minutes, I asked for someone else and was placed on hold for another ten minutes and I hung up and called back the next day.Internet is fine, makes me want to consider a streaming service for TV and cloud storage for DVR.
They have missed processing checks numerous times and then cut off services instantly. I work with handicap individuals who not only need their phone but have other things that require a phone connection. Ive had to copy the bill and staple checks to the bill and they still miss the checks. Lazy and greedy company.
They really need to change their Data Caps Policy. It is very unfair. I went slightly over my data cap and then they sent me a letter telling me that I would be forced to upgrade to 300GB if I did it again. I use nowhere even close to 300GB and have no desire to pay for those kind of numbers. I am already paying a lot for their services. If they force me to do this, I will be forced to drop them.
Moving business service from existing location to new location. Spoke with scheduling on Tuesday which confirmed the coming Friday morning between 10-12 for activation at new location. Called customer service at 1:15 to see where tech was. Customer service confirmed my original appointment had been for Friday but had been rescheduled for the following Monday. I had moved and set up all the equipment on Thursday for the Friday activation. There was NO notification from Cableone regarding rescheduling. Needless to say, my business operations were halted on Friday and certainly will be hindered this coming Monday IF they even bother to hook up the service then. I was told they informed their supervisor so this issue could be looked into. I told them that does not help me in the least at the moment. They cheerfully said we will see you Monday.
Garbage company. They limit your data and give you way more speed than necessary, but in reality, you dont get the speed you pay for. I test my connection daily, and it isnt even half of what Im paying for. If you go over your monthly allowance of data, they will force you to upgrade to a bigger plan, for almost double the cost. They are a very immoral company, and I would boycott them if they didnt have a monopoly on internet here.
Very disappointed with my service for the past week my internet goes out for no reason its become a very annoying issue and would like it fixed asap
Excellent service so far! We have not had CableOne internet for a full month yet but thus far, we are very satisfied with the quality of customer service and speed of internet connection.
Fast set up, friendly tech, and the person on the phone spoke great English.
I have had absolutely no trouble at all with Cable One in terms of service and internet speed. Highly recommend over AT&T in the Kirksville area.
Data caps are horrible. Speed of internet is great, but misleading, since if you actually use it you hit the cap pretty quickly.
Awful. Buffering issues frequently. Nowhere near the speeds we pay for. DATA CAPS. We had way better experiences with previous internet providers. To finish it off, way too expensive.
Terrible. Low data caps, will severely slow Internet down if close to data cap. Just overall a bad company. The man who installed the Internet was cool though.
The most expensive bill for the most unstable service possible. Get with it Cable One. Prostates.
Use another cable company. They are trying to hold me to a contract for a business closing due to pandemic.Seriously ! They dont care about the community that they serve.
If you want real high speed internet, its the only option you have in this town. Storms and power failures cause problems to certain areas frequently, but thats out of their hands. The rating system is a bit off because the only people that rate it are disgruntled customers.
Thanks for being awesome Jacob!
We have been CableOne customers since they took over for the previous provider -- first for TV, and then with the addition of internet service in 1997. CableOnes service has been excellent, so we have had to call for help only rarely over the years; when we did need help, someone either came to the house within a couple of hours or solved the issue over the phone (including weekends); when we needed a new remote control, I easily exchanged the old one for a new one -- free of charge, no questions asked; and when we wanted an upgraded DVR or upgraded modem, it was done in less than an hour. We have found the people at the front desk in the Kirksville office friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient; the technicians who have assisted us over the years have been equally personable and knowledgeable, going beyond the minimum to make sure we were satisfied. Both TV and internet service have remained excellent over the many years we have been customers, including consistently high internet download and upload speeds (203 Mbps / 10.3 Mbps a few minutes ago). Kudos to the folks at our Kirksville CableOne for their commitment to customer service.
They are good to work with but they seem to struggle to send the bills.
I honestly wish there was a way to rate them lower than one star. We have our internet service through them due to our apartment limitations, and at any point in time during the day there is an extremely high probility that we will just flat out lose connection to the internet. We have also had issues in the sense of them upcharging our package to the next size, and then not giving us full access to the higher tier. Once we get everything figured out, the next step is to either drop them, or take them to court for the additional charges with no upgrade or consent.
This was the ONLY option available for just internet service in Kirksville, but you would think that even a small college town would have more options. It was more expensive than my Xfinity plan at home that has TV (including HBO, Showtime, and Starz), phone, and internet. Their office hours are awful and you can never reach anyone at the local office. They are also closed on Mondays, so when the semester is up and everyone is moving out, they want you to wait until the following Tuesday to return equipment. Thank goodness my son graduated and is back home and we dont have to deal with them anymore.
They came to set up within the window specified & kept me updated throughout. Got my new apartment set up, made sure I could get online & operate my TiVo.
People are great, but service sucks in this area!
Ive been happy with Cable One and have had them for a couple years now. I cant speak to the television or phone as I only use high speed internet. It has worked very well and been fast. I upgraded my plan today as I was hitting the data limit on the cheapest plan. The gal on the phone was friendly and got me fixed up. I think the internet is very reasonable. Think about it, youre getting service a million times faster than 3mbps (DSL) for around the same price. I never had a problem with ATT but DSL/uverse was too slow for $40/month.
Technician was professional and did a great job
Overpriced. Works about half of the time and when it does work its about 1/4 of the speed they advertise. Not impressed.
The wifi is way too slow for the price.
Ive had a bad experience with Cable One. The internet is down a lot which is a no no for college students, or anyone who needs a reliable ISP.
The cables you put underground broke my sewer line! Called the number and got a guy that has no clue what he is doing or how to handle a call like this. He also has no clue u put lines underground!
Great service, very fast internet!
Want to upgrade? Too bad! The only time you can call is when youre at work. The have NO customer service during non-business hours and the customer service during business hours is AWFUL! They obviously treat their employees the same way they do their customers....they see how far they can bend when they shove it to them.
The worth cable ever! I got disconnected more than 10 times within an hour...
Only game in town. Slow internet, throttling, and expensive.
Poor service and reliability.
Jacob was great.
If there were ANY other option, Id choose that.
