They are very rude and full of excuses when they mess up. Would not recommend taking your pet here if it’s on medication. They also can’t handle pets that hate the vet. Be warned before thinking of going there.

My fiancé and I took my puppy here for the first few months we had her. Before we took her here she was well mannered and not aggressive in the slightest. When we first started taking her here we noticed that the vet tech who came out to get her was cold and distant not only with us but especially with our dog. She would never pet her or try to comfort her she would just drag our dog inside. We decided to look past it. When the vet came out to talk to us she mentioned that our dog was a bit rowdy, however we thought that was normal as it was her first time in a strange place getting shots and other unpleasant procedures. The next time we brought her the the vet tech continued to be cold and uncomfortable towards us and especially our dog. When we got our dog back that appointment we were informed that our dog is “aggressive” and that to cope with it they wrapped a rope around her nose in order to restrain her. We’ve switched vets and they’ve had no such problems. They even said she behaves perfectly for them. I never write reviews but I think it’s important to share our story as in my opinion it reflects a severe lack of ability to be accommodating/flexible and even borderline malpractice. Our dog will now forever be labeled as aggressive even though she’s nothing of the sort.

I really liked Dr Lisa Doak.. She had a good bedside manner, was gentle with our little maltese, Sadie. The office & exam room were both very clean. We are definitely going back.

We came to Kirksville on a camping trip and needed some emergency treatment, so they aren’t are normal vet, but we kind of wish they were! I took my cat Precious to them in March, they treated him with the utmost care, unfortunately there was nothing else we could do for him because his heart was failing. My Precious passed away April 13,2018. When I get ready to get another pet, I would take it to Kirksville Small Animal Hospital.It is now Oct, 2018, I have not yet decided to get another pet. In the 9 months preceding April, I lost my Loving Husband, the house we lived in for 30 years burnt to the ground and then my Little Buddy Precious passed away. I have thought a couple of times about another pet (not quite ready yet). I will take it to Kirksville Small Animal Hospital when I do get one though.March 8,2020 I finally adopted a Kitten in Oct 1999 that was 7 weeks old from Pet Smart. The little guy had a rough start, was sick off and on for a couple of months. Took him to Kirksville Small Animal Hospital (several times) and they got him all fixed up and healthy. He is now 6 1/2 months old, weighs almost 8 lbs, full of energy and is the light of my life. I will take him back to KSAH when needed.

KSAH has been my vet for 20 years. They are always kind and professional, and they got the job done. Office staff is helpful and responsive. I love that they are doing all curbside service right now, because my dog wasnt well suited to sitting in the waiting room with other animals within pouncing distance. We had to use their emergency service once several years ago and found them to be extremely sympathetic and flexible and very kind of both to my human family and our suffering animal.

Ive entrusted my pets to KSAH for twenty years. Really proficient office staff, friendly and competent, and generally very kind and thoughtful veterinary care. And competent. Competitive prices (that is to say--pricey but no worse than the other place in town).

I know I can always rely on Dr. Doak & staff to take excellent care of my dog & cat. It gives me peace of mind to know that they treat my pets as family and that they are always there for me!

Kirksville Animal Hospital is amazing. I had gotten a puppy and wasnt sure where to take it to get good care. I went to Kirksville Animal Hospital and right as you walk in the door you can tell they were going to take good care of your pet. The friendly workers and the awesome veterinarian is what made me make up my mind this is who I was going to trust with the newest member of my family.

They took good care of my daughters cat that had been a stray. Got her spayed, wormed, nails clipped, vaccinations, etc... Shes going to be a much healthier cat. Friendly service, too!

Our service was very fast and you can tell everyone wants what is best for your animal! They disclose all prices and treatments before hand so you know what your animal needs and if you can afford it. My cat was sick and started feeling better almost immediately after leaving!

Kirksville Small Animal Hospital has been the major care provider for a geriatric k9 that passed a few years ago and my two mixed breed rescues I got as puppies almost 4 years ago. The care they have provided for them has been top notch.The staff is great, friendly and very caring of their furry patients and their 2 legged counterparts. Do not hesitate to take your beloved pets to them.

I took my puppy to the Kirksville Small Animal Hospital to have her spayed and get her vaccinations. I didnt have to wait long for an appointment. The staff took excellent care of her. The cost of the spay and vaccinations was about $400 less than another vet I had taken her to when she needed her very first vaccinations. I wont take her anywhere else now. Kirksville Small Animal Hospital rocks!

This vet office has not only taken care of my personal animals but my fathers as well. They go above and beyond for their clients, four legged and two. They are compassionate and understanding and won’t put more on you than you can handle. They are great at explaining not only the worst outcomes but the best and will make sure you understand all options.

My 5 year old border collie/Australian Shepherd mix started having seizures. I took him in to the KSAH to try and figure out what was causing them. Dr. Doakwas great. She explained every step and ran blood tests. The results were ehrlichia, a tick borne disease. She explained that, though its not widely accepted, her experience was that ehrlichia often causes seizures. She gave Bernie some doxy and phenobarbital and he has not had a single seizure since. Everyone I dealt with was polite, caring and knowledgeable. I got an immediate appointment. I would recommend KSAH for your pets.

Had an appointment to get my male dog spayed and had it set up for over a week and when we got there they said we didn’t have one set up and that they don’t do spaying unless it’s Tuesday and Thursday but no one told me this while setting my appointment up.0/5 stars if possible, not reliable or organized

The office staff are friendly and on the ball, and their rates are excellent. Highly recommend!

Dr. Doak is absolutely fantastic. Shes kind and always very gentle with animals. However, one of her vet techs is not so nice. Shes ALWAYS rude and condescending when I talk to her and acts like clients are stupid and bothering her. She was in the exam room when I brought my cat in and she ended up manhandling her (not just scruffing her neck, but she actually YANKED her!). My cat is old and one of the most docile creatures, so I DID NOT appreciate that. I was NOT impressed with her or her services. I am hesitant to recommend this place because of her.But, like I said before, Dr. Doak is amazing. Shes always very sweet to my kitty and makes her feel comfortable.It is also a bit pricey. The exam itself is $40 - I think they should give discounts to people whove been going here for several years or are frequent clients.

Dr. Basler is a fantastic vet. Very compassionate and smart which is awesome. I also appreciate that the rest of the staff at this office are just as great. They are helpful and friendly. They really do their best to serve their clients on a daily basis.

We have been bringing our animals to KV Small Animal Hospital for years. Lately, with our “special needs” dog, it seems we have been there a lot. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. It is always a pleasure to talk with Dr. Doak, who listens to our concerns and takes time to share her considerable expertise. Our dogs say the treats are excellent. It doesn’t get any better than that!

I have taken my cats to other vets in Kirksville but Kirksville Animal Hospital is the best! The staff have been a blessing to our family and our pets. They are skilled and compassionate when dealing with our pets medical needs.

I brought my dog in to test for a uti and they were amazing. Not judgemental (even though he is hyper and at times ill mannered- ha!). I felt like the testing (urine and xray) was priced very fairly and they were ALL helpful and easy going. I at no point felt judged, which is very important to me, as we are all just doing the best we can with what we have!

We LOVE LOVE KSAH! We have several furbabies and also 1 pokeystabbyhissy (hedgehog). The staff is always amazing, helpful & our babies care feels conoletely customized for our needs. We recently got our hedgehog and the closest exotic vet is 100 miles away. Kirksville small animal trimmed her nails for us, after two months of me cretting on how to go about getting it done. KSAH & its staff, are wonderful!

When my Morkie started acting crazy, Kirksville Small Animal Hospital was able to qork me into their busy schedule and figure out that she had a nad infection and treated her. Dr. Doax even wanted me to call her in a week and let her know how she was doing. All the staff there are wonderful and really care about you and your fur baby.

My pets have been taken care of by Kirksville Small Animal Hospital for almost 50 years. I wouldnt take them any where else. They take care of my fur babies with knowledge and compassion.

Kirksville Small Animal Clinic is a wonderful place to take any Pet. Dr. Doak and her staff were very kind and friendly. I had taken in a small, unhealthy barn kitten whom I did not think would make it through the winter outdoors into my home. I had the kitten vaccinated, treated for ear mites, fleas and tested for Feline Leukemia. Dr. Doak and her staff were so patient with the kitten and with me. The kitten is now almost a year old and has also been spayed at Kirksville Small Animal Clinic, she has grown to be a very healthy and playful cat. My son has named her Jack Pots (he said she won the kitty lottery and the prize was to be an indoor cat!! LOL!!) In my opinion we have found the best Veterinary care for Jack Pots so she may stay healthy and be a long lasting part of our family.
