The customer service was really good, the atmosphere of the salon was very relaxed and chill, and the overall experience was good. I just wasnt on board with the prices. I understand that these are very high quality extensions, but they are very expensive. Definitely not budget-friendly. Overall great place though.

Wow! I’m am so beyond happy! I’m in LOVE with this place! I felt like an absolute celebrity here! The experience is so above and beyond! I got my color and extensions done. The color is the most beautiful color I’ve had in my life! And the extensions are phenomenal. The entire staff is a dream! Everyone was so kind and made me feel so welcomed. I’ve found my new salon!!!

I had gone to add pink extensions instead of coloring my hair and told the owner I would like them to be visible so please add them a little closer to the face but she ignored my request and still put them in way that you can’t see them since it’s really buried under my hair! I spent abt $400 and the point is to have the pink show if u can’t have it be visible then what’s the point?! Also, the quality of the hair is horrible! The color fades and eventually becomes a very rough texture. I heard that some places use horse hair and say it’s real human hair. I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s what mermaid used especially for the pink extensions. I used them in the past for brown ones and it was ok but this was horrible quality and barely showed! So I asked for a refund but the owner was annoyed that I wanted my money back for something I didn’t like and kept arguing with me that I shouldn’t have picked this color and basically told me to never come back! That’s how much they care abt their clients! If she had listened and placed them in a way that frames my face as I had asked that wouldn’t have been a problem! i ended up doing it somewhere else which was much nicer quality and showed for cheaper too! Save your money! Especially with such an unprofessional owner

I came in with my Bellami tape in hair extensions, washed and already taken out. I called them a week before my appointment to make sure i didnt need to do anything else before coming in. There was some glue residue on the tape and i asked if i should do anything to get rid of it, they told me they would take care of it. When i arrived they seated me promptly, took my hair and gave me a bottle of water. I reminded them about the residue and they restated that they would take care of it. My stylist was nice but i dont understand how they are Bellami certified because when i asked for single sided tape they were confused (they consulted with the other stylists). Ive been to several Bellami locations and they all offered single sided tapes for thin hair. As they didnt know what i was talking about i agreed to let them do what they do for tape ins. I was surprised when they would just stick the extension with the tape on my head, stick some hair to it and then lift it up to place the second extension under that first one. Generally stylists separate a thin layer of hair with a fine comb and then place the first extension on the bottom of that layer and the second extension on the top top create a thin hair sandwich. With single sided they do the opposite and place a double sided tape piece beneath the extension and then add a piece of plastic to ensure that the hair is sandwiched. They did not use any clamps to press the hair sandwiches. I left with hair that i couldnt run my hands through because of the method they used to sandwich my hair(sticking the tape directly to my hair and placing another without using a comb). i had numerous hairs in multiple tapes which was painful to comb out when i got home. A week later when i washed my hair the tapes started slipping, definitely confirming that they did not clean the old glue residue off. I was okay with the service i received in the salon but the quality of the work was subpar. I am quite sad :(

I use to go here for years but they got some new stylists in. I haven’t been in almost a year.Anyways. I came in for a bleach and tone, it left some orange/yellow brass.. I came in again to get it corrected and they melted off my hair. I want to be blue to post a picture connected to this but that option isn’t popping up.I had a piece of my hair (around the crown of my head) when they went back to fix it that just got long enough to see because it was so meted off.I use to recommend them but if your going here.. especially for a bleach and tone.... don’t...

I’m sitting here with my extensions still in eagerly awaiting their removal tomorrow morning. I originally found Mermaid Hair Extensions through yelp and have been regretting it ever since.It is my first time having extensions and what a drag they are. I opted for sewn in bellami weft Extensions and there is literally nothing good about them. They look SO BAD! I do not want to have to curl my hair every single day to make them blend. They itch beyond anything I’ve ever felt. They hurt when I sleep. They’re hard to wash. I have short hair and you can literally see a blunt line where my hair ends and the extensions begin. After $1750 dollars spent on these I could not be more angry, sad and frustrated with this company.I went into mermaid in Kirkland about 5 days after I had them in saying I couldn’t take it anymore and I want them out and a refund because they look so horrible, and usually when you are incredibly unhappy with a product you are offered some sort of compensation for the product. I was fine spending that much but I was expecting top of the line quality for such an investment. Stand by your product, right? Wrong. They offered nothing except a haircut to make them look better. They looked decent at best. Since I was going to be offered no compensation for the horrible extensions, I decided I would try wearing them with this new cut they gave me.I’m writing this portion of the review after I had them removed yesterday. I slept better because they weren’t digging into my head while I slept. I really wish mermaid could have accommodated my dissatisfaction with their product and worked with me to fix it instead of standing back and saying nothing can be done. I will have nothing good to say in the future about this company.

10 years younger! Thank You to the Girls at Mermaids! I am in love with my longer,beautiful hair. It makes me feel so much younger and more confident. My reunion was recently and everyone commented on how I had not changed a bit...little did they know it was really just my hair that made it seem that way. The girls assured me I could always come in for a follow up if I had any questions or wanted a complimentary haircut but now I am hooked on the length and want to keep it that way ~ Love You Guys!

If you’re going for anything other than hair extensions, DONT GO. I went there to get my hair colored deep red “all over color” for my wedding. After they washed my hair my hair looked exactly the same as my natural hair. Then they promised they’ll fix it. They colored again, washed it, and my hair had three colors. Red from top black in the middle and pinkish in the ends. Then they told me to come the next day for them to fix it again!!!!! Please don’t go there.

I have been going to see these ladies for almost 5 years now and absolutely love it every time! Amazing owner Cindy always takes care of you, the team is just full of smiles and their skills when it comes to color recommendations, proper extensions choice, etc is top notch every time! I recommend these ladies for what they know best - everything hair related!! It also says a lot when you see the same stylists year after year, meaning the place is ran properly and they dont take shortcuts at the customers expense. Very professional and fun

Absolutely great experience. Im over 40 and it was my first time getting hair extensions - all the staff were helpful and informative (and not pushy - they just wanted me to be happy and take the time I needed to make an informed decision). I have fine hair, so growing it out is always challenging & disappointing...I decided to try extensions to thicken my own hair, not really add a lot of length. They matched my hair color perfectly. Its only day 2 and I have to wait until tomorrow to wash my hair, so I dont really know how easy it will be to wash/style/maintain yet. It feels a little weird to have the attachments in my hair, but Im sure Ill get used to it. If youre considering this, Id highly recommend going in for a consult at Mermaid - great, great staff. Just wish it wasnt quite so expensive, but they were completely clear at the outset about cost (and the cost of maintaining) so you know exactly what youre getting into before you make any decisions.

All the ladies were really friendly, they greeted me as soon as I stepped in the door even though they were putting in extensions or helping other customers!I had them put in a feather hair extension and it turned out SUPER CUTE! It was quick and painless. I have girlfriends who got them put in their hair and paid quite a bit to do it. Here its $10 to put them in and $10 for the feather which last 6 weeks and if it falls out or grows out, you come back in and they will fix it. All my friends were asking about where I got it done at when I posted the picture on Facebook and I told them to go here!

Very overpriced for some young and inexperienced stylist. I argued with 2 of them to not color my hair using peroxide as a developer. They were not aware of using an enzyme developer instead. Peroxide causes my hair to oxidize rapidly and my color fades rapidly when doing so. Myy original hair color ends up being lightened when the goal was to darken. Arguing with 20 something year olds while paying hundreds of dollars is not okay. Plus you cant choose your stylist they choose for you and I ended up with younger inexperienced. The girl putting in my extensions required supervision. The extensions are high quality and placed nice but the cut and color is not high quality as it should be. Coming from NYC and Seattle charging more with very experienced stylist who are not able to discuss anything more than peroxide is upsetting. Dropping $600 on my hair should mean I walk out with super model hair.

Horrrrrible experience here. Extensions looked so cheap and they cost me the price of a used car. Wish I would have thought it through a lot more before coming here. I felt cheated and I felt like the staff was dishonest.

They are the best .. they save my hair, because of another salon put a large amount of gel for the extanctions of hair and most of salon told me to cut it but they try to fix it and i like it, thank you ladies.

I got a splash of strands and color was completely mismatched and no where near my natural color in addition to that the application of extensions was improper. ( when I told the owner application was improper she responded with a very agitated voice “stop saying it was improper” aaaaand that’s when I realized she doesn’t have understanding in how to speak with a customer that’s coming in withba concern ) They did not wash my hair before applying the strands which is I’m assuming why they only lasted two weeks. When I told the owner that there was no hair wash she began arguing with me and basically saying I’m lying. Extremely unprofessional especially considering this uncomfortable conversation was on the floor in front of other customers and basically about five stylists not believing me and arguing with me. It was just a really bad experience and extremely disappointing. When it comes to keeping customers happy after an error on their end they lack proper communication and consideration of customers valid unsatisfactory experience. Rather than argumentative tone of voice from the stylists and owner the conversation should have been dealt and managed in a much better approach leaning more towards keeping the customer happy but instead I left feeling like I was being attacked and accused of lying. There was a major lack of professionalism in my experience. This is not anywhere near how the situation should have been handled. In the future when you have an unhappy customer I suggest you find a better approach.
