My daughter expressed a fear of starting First Grade because she didn’t know how to read. Remote learning didn’t go well for her and she perceived that she was behind. So, we contacted Pat at Sylvan, had our daughter tested, and got her on a learning plan. She has truly enjoyed her experience and has shown incredible progress. I brought my daughter here after a positive ADHD and dyslexia diagnosis to get her help with reading. She’s been behind for a few grades and we finally got her tested and brought her here. We registered our son for Sylvan once we realized last Fall that school was going remote only. We wanted to make sure he did not fall behind for his level since he was not getting challenged during remote learning. We found the manager Patricia Salvaggio very good to work with putting together a plan for him. We met monthly to look at his progress which was very detailed. The teachers were very nice and through the instruction during this school year, our son was able to keep up and surpass his grade level. He is in grade 2 but he is now at a grade 3 reading level. He is also at a very good math level which is in line with grade 2 plus he enjoys doing math more than ever. We are very grateful that we were able to access services like Sylvan, especially during this very challenging year! Thank you so much!

Our 7 year old daughter has been attending Sylvan at Kirkland for the last 10 months during remote learning. We have noticed her being more confident her in her math, reading and writing skills. She has been introduced to new subject concepts that are appropriate for her skill level and is now working above her grade level. And most importantly, she is excited and interested by what she learns, and says she has fun going to Sylvan. We also appreciate the regular assessments and parent meetings to discuss her progress and learning goals with Ms. Patricia.

My daughter started at Sylvan last year as a beginning first grader, and her reading skills were not where they needed to be for her grade level. She has been doing reading lessons at Sylvan twice week since. Fast forward to today, and she is a second grader reading at a third grade level! This review is long overdue. I wanted to share with you our great experience with Sylvan. Our daughter was going slow with reading. We wanted her to gain more confidence and signed her up at Sylvan Kirkland for reading classes. Our daughter was behind many of the kids in her class. Now she is excelling at the advanced reading group in her class. We cant be happier. Thanks to Ms. Pat, the Center Director. Shes been so wonderful to work with. Thanks to Ms. Amrita. She kept our daughter engaged and interested during her lessons.

Like many others, my daughter had been in online learning for over a year. It became time that I needed to take action and find more resources to support her in her learning. She needed support with learning, and building confidence and retention of what she was learning. I am employed through Microsoft and they recently partnered with Bright Horizons to offer special rates through various learning centers to assist with learning during the pandemic. I spoke with several other tutoring providers and learning centers and Sylvan felt like the best fit and had the best ratings of them all and offered in person as an option, which I felt my daughter would benefit from. One month in and it has been what I had hoped it would be. It has been such a positive experience. My daughter is eager to learn, and leaves with confidence every single session. She enjoys her teachers and actually is learning every time. My 5th grader improved a lot after taking private tutoring classes with teacher Robert. My son told me that Mom, I am doing great in class, other kids start to ask me question now! I am so happy that he becomes more confident and is willing to spend more time on study.

We are so happy with the results that we’ve been seeing with both our children being in Sylvan for the past few months. Sylvan has done wonders for our 2nd grader. She has struggled with online learning, getting her to complete her work was a struggle and would take anywhere from 2-6 hours to complete one assignment. Since we have started Sylvan, in-person, in January she is more confident, she understands her lessons and is able to connect her lessons to her homework. She is excited to do her school work and assignments now take no more than 45mins to complete! She looks forward to going each time. Thank you Sylvan for coming along side us to help our daughter.

We have been attending Sylvan of Kirkland for about 3 months. My daughter had been struggling with reading at just below grade levels. After just 3 months she jumped 4 reading levels her Iready improved by 36 points from the beginning of the school year. I now recommend this center for anyone whos child could use some extra help or worries that they are falling behind in the online setting.

My daughter has taken in person courses here and recently started taking online classes instead. We have been really happy with both the in person and online tutoring. My 1st grade daughter real loves the teachers and classes here. After attending twice classes a week for a year, her reading and math reaches to one level above her grade from below average in her grade. The semi-yearly feedback given by the Patricia is very thoughtful and constructive, which eases our anxiety. Last but not least, Sylvan does not assign and enforce the homework for my daughter like other education facilities do, which makes her happy instead of weary of studying

My two sons have been going to Sylvan Learning for a while and they are loving the place. I can see great results in their math and language art learning as well as having enthusiasm in learning.

My 3rd grader had a great experience at Sylvan in Kirkland! She showed a lack of confidence when it came to math skills even though she was meeting grade-level requirements at school. I spoke with Pat about our desire to bring her confidence up and improve her attitude toward math as being more important than her actual scores. After the initial assessment, Pat made a plan individually catered to my daughter and our goals. Pat was super responsive to feedback and made adjustments straight away. We can’t say enough good things about our Sylvan experience! The convenience and flexibility of appointment times is fantastic. The staff is always friendly and attentive to my kids and our educational goals. This is the second year my kids have been at Sylvan and they both look forward to going to every session. I have not only seen their self esteem and confidence improve, their have grades have improved quite a bit as well!

After a successful kindergarten year, our first grade son was having a very hard time keeping pace with the reading goals. He fell behind and was getting extra help at school but it just was not enough. It became a battle at home just getting him to look at books, let alone sounding out bigger words. He had a major block!! We enrolled him in the program and almost immediately began to see a change in the way he approached words! He uses the time there productively, and loves both the teacher and the rewards store. He just finished the first round of second grade assessments and he has now met or exceeded the goals in all the areas of reading! And he was pulled out of the special reading help group. Yippee!!! I will also mention that we did an extra hour of math per week this summer so that he wouldnt have any loss of math facts over the summer. It was great! The director and staff are lovely and worked hard to get to the bottom of exactly what the issue was for him. So proud of our reader and grateful for their help!!

Pat, the Center Director, was so accommodating when it came to setting up the tutoring schedule for my son. When we first met, we created a plan that would work for all of us. My parents enrolled me in my summer of junior year to Sylvan of Kirkland. We heard from a friend that this particular location was the best with teaching SAT Prep. I started my SAT journey with a score in the 1200s. I wanted to increase my score in order for me to enroll to my dream colleges. With the extensive work and knowledgeable tutors, I was able to bump up my score into the upper 1300s. Overall, my experience was awesome from the friendly staff, well-prepared material, and the friendly environment. I would recommend this place to everyone that I know!

Kirkland center has professional, knowledgable, courteous staff. They worked with me every step of the way to accommodate our needs and schedule. Pat is great in giving her expert input as to the assessment of my child. We transitioned from a different State mid year and they helped my son adjust to the new curriculum. I did not think twice about registering for SAT training with them. My 16 year old son feels his time spent there is very productive. And that is saying something about this centre!!!

I started off with enrolling my son in Sylvan. He was 5 when he started and I wanted to give him a head start learning phonics in addition to his learning in a Pre K Montessori. We attended two times a week for six months from December to June. My husband and I noticed such an improvement. The Sylvan teachers are all wonderful Including the Administrator Pat. It’s so nice to be able to know that at Sylvan my son is given the attention and focus that he wouldn’t find within his daily classroom environment. This year my daughter has been showing some struggles in her 2nd grade math and my husband and I knew just where to go. Thank you Sylvan! I highly recommend!

We have had an excellent experience with Sylvan (Kirkland). Pat has a very personalized and compassionate approach with each child, even within the structured curriculum. Ive been working at Sylvan of Kirkland for four years now and I love working here. Everyone who works here has a real passion for teaching, which creates a strong community of support for each student. A few months ago, my family moved and I had to leave the center. It was so hard leaving students that I had worked with for years. I missed everyone and a few months later I found myself back. Theres nothing better then watching a student grow with confidence and knowledge.

Im giving this tutoring center 5 stars because they had help my son to improved hisgrades in math. They cover in 10 weeks (summer) as much as the could, that my soncouldnt understand and along with the work books to practice at home; he got it. There are still some areas he has to work on . Hell be back to this center to work on it. I must mention, previous teachers expressed that this could be hard to achieved. Sylvan focus just on the problems and help kids understand before moving to the next subject. Something that doesnt happen in a regular classroom.

Working with Sylvan was a very positive experience. In the past my son has gone to Sylvan at the Kirkland location for test prep. It was a great way for him to get a structured, focused review of test materials that really made a difference in confidence and scores. The staff worked with him on scheduling so he was able to fit in sessions around school work and sports.Recently we’ve gone to Sylvan to have them proctor tests for his online class. They have been enormously helpful: great communication & follow up with both questions and scheduling. The staff there has gone above and beyond to work with us on meeting deadlines. When I came to Sylvan I didnt have the best grades, failing a class and had zero desire to learn. After spending hours on end with the tutors here they helped me improve my grades and find motivation again. Now my grades have significantly improved, I got accepted into Honors Society and its all thanks to Sylvan.

When I first came to sylvan I was completely against going, but once I got there I was blown away by how much help I got and how much I actually understood. They made me feel successful in areas that I always thought I would fail in.

Both of my daughters (now 9 and 14) have attended Sylvan off and on for 4 years. Whenever we need homework help, a better understanding of academic concepts, or a boost in confidence, I call Sylvan. Both girls have liked and looked forward to attending Sylvan. The staff is amazing, their assessments cover not only academics, but learning styles and a self-assessment by the child indicating their own view of how well they are performing and how confident they are in their performance. The staff also contacts the girls teacher(s) to share information and make sure that the program Sylvan is designing matches classroom content and progress.I would highly recommend to any parent who is frustrated by homework, lack of confidence in their child, or low grades set up an assessment session with Sylvan. It is well worth it.

This place is a miracle! My Daughter has been struggling in school since her 1st day. I even held her back. After less then 30 days (2-4hrs every week) she has completely changed! I mean night and day! My X, his wife, my husband, the Teachers at school and my self see a tremendous improvement.I would recommend this place to all parents that dont know what to do? I am a former Sylvan employee. With respect to other tutoring companies where I have worked at for over two years, Sylvan shines at providing structured, individualized support to students. With a maximum of three students per teacher, I was always able to spend significant time with all my students each hour – a major difference from the other tutoring services. The Sylvan program, delivered through the use of iPads, adopted perfectly the concept of spaced repetition by having students work through certain lessons over a span of weeks. I was also allowed the flexibility to complement any areas of concern by any means I saw fit. Lastly, the administrative staff was very supportive and was always looking for new ways to improve. It was not infrequent that I was given new instructions on what to focus on for specific students. Also, I frequently noticed many small improvements to the work area – new stationary, more iPads, folders being reorganized, etc. All of this served to create a unique atmosphere of constant improvement for both the teachers and the students. If other tutoring services have not met your needs, I would highly recommend giving Sylvan a try.

Sylvans has made such a huge difference in my daughters life. She has gone from needing all the help and special reading groups at school to having the confidence to read to the family at night. Her confidence has taken off! She is now ahead of her class and is able to help others. Her instructors are amazing, they make the learning fun. She comes home excited and always wants to go back for more. She is very sad to learn that she is almost complete with her program and will be leaving soon, but she will take with her all that she has learned and I know it will all help her in the future.

Sylvan Learning of Kirkland has really helped see me potential! They helped me bring my GPA up and have been so much help in the process of choosing a college that I love, I’m so happy I starting going to Sylvan!

Our daughter, Slush, was inadvertently left behind at school because she was so quiet. We contacted Sylvan to assess her missing skills and help her develop what she missed in 3rd grade. At the end of 3rd grade, she scored a 2 on the SBA English and Math Assessments. At the end of 4th grade (after attending Sylvan during the school year and summer), Slush achieved a 4 in English and a 3 in Math. We are so proud of Slush for her hard work and thankful for the thoughtful guidance of the teachers and principal at Sylvan. They helped make learning fun again. They helped to conquer the frustration we were all experiencing at home and at school. Slush learned a few life skills too along the way. We are having a good experience now with homework and learning.

I would recommend Sylvan of Kirkland to anyone in need of academic support. When we came to Sylvan, my daughter was struggling in math and in the midst of a crisis of confidence. We started her instruction in February, continuing through summer and fall. It amazed me that she was always happy to go to Sylvan--quite different from our experience with Best in Class--and there were no packets to complete outside of class. In fact, she was able to work on homework during her Sylvan sessions.Over the 8 months with Sylvan, my daughters confidence was boosted immensely. She wasnt intimidated by new concepts and she could move through subjects at her own pace. As a new 5th grader, she was already seeing math concepts from 6th grade and beyond. I know that her Sylvan experience will continue to give her confidence through her academic career.As for the staff at Sylvan Kirkland, I felt incredibly supported by Pat Salvaggio. She listened to my concerns and made me feel like I was making the right choices. All of the staff were wonderful and made my daughter feel at home--she could be placed with any teacher and feel comfortable. I am so thankful that I made the call and went to Sylvan.

This is the best gift a parent can give to their kid. Grades really do improve! All of them not just the subject we focused on. Whatever they do I know its bettered my daughters life by finding that confidence to stride and feeling good about her work and what she accomplishes . Sometimes its hard to get my kid there due to her busy life. She is never thrilled come appointed time, but thats ok because she always leaves with a big smile:-) - a permanent one on the inside-Thankyou all of the wonderful staff at the totem lake kirkland center!

Sylvan helped me gain the skills to be successful in my class, with the help of the tutors I was able to reach my math goals.

This place is wonderful! The people are really nice and great with the kids. I have seen my daughter make great strides in her development while going to Slyvan and I can not thank them enough. They have a great system for teaching that truly resonates with the children, it is progressive, and intuitive. Children now are so savy with computers and are very technologicaly inclined. Slyvan taps into this by using an amazing iPad training tool which keeps the children engaged and having fun while they are doing it. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.
