Paradise! We stayed in a super cute bungalow which was very private. It was clean and was perfect for my husband and I. The resort was beautiful, and the staff was super friendly. The first day we were there we got in the ocean right by the resort and swam with manatees. It was so amazing! The food was so good and the views breathtaking. We will definitely be back!
Best place to stay in Key Largo for your vacation. The hotel was beautiful including the room we stayed in. The staffs had exceptional customer service! They were friendly and welcoming. As a Marriott gold elite I received a welcome gift and a drink when checking in. Keep in mind that a daily resort fee of $45 will be added to the room rate. They have complimentary valet parking for hotel guests only and complimentary on-site parking. I will definitely come back and stay here again!
We booked this hotel as apart of our honeymoon. We had originally planned a large international trip however, due to Covid we decided to stay domestic in the states. We were pleasantly surprised. There was not one aspect of this hotel I would change. From the beginning, we were eagerly greeted by 2 valet who took our bags and parked our car. Check in was a breeze. We arrived around 1PM and our room was already ready for us.The room was new, clean, spacious and elegant. The rules were very guest friendly. Masks were worn by staff and sanitizer was readily available all around the resort.Loved that the pool was opened 24 hours. We did a few night swims on hot nights. The grounds were pristine. No trash ever laying around. The pool staff was AMAZING. Special shout out to Travis who really made our stay memorable! He gave us recommendations of where to eat/go. He went out of our way to check in on us every few hours to make sure we had everything we needed. When he found out we were celebrating our honeymoon, he gave us complimentary drinks. This is what separates a good hotel from a great one!!!Overall we were very happy with our stay and would HIGHLY recommend the hotel to anyone else looking to have a relaxing and fun trip!!
Remember to use Hᴏᴛᴇʟʙᴜʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏᴍ when booking your resort. They compare countless hotel sites and usually will have rooms much cheaper than others! Youre welcome :)! This resort is one of the best in the area. Ive been coming here for a very long time. If you stay for a few nights you wont be disappointed. This hotel is well kept, clean and beautiful. They have the “really” pool service. The staff constantly checked on us what we need. Sunset is amazing. The only issue is the high price tag :)
We TOTALLY enjoyed our experience here at the Playa Largo Resort. They had a number of amenities for food, fun, and relaxation. Id definitely recommend this place to any person, couple, family, etc. that wants a nice getaway in a picturesque locale. The customer service was amazing, personable and most importantly responsive. There are three different eateries, a water adventure booth that provides for wake-boating as well as paddle-boating. Theres a nice gym with an wide array of equipment and weights and the views all across the resort were phenomenal. Other reviews will likely be similar, but had to add mine to the mix because we really enjoyed our recent stay and I hope you do too if you are returning or going for the first time.
Went to my cousins wedding there. It was beautiful even with the rain. Also the pool is open 24/7 which was a nice bonus.
Hotel and service was great! However they dinged our credit card 3x for the same amount for 1 night leaving us financially devastated. We were ok w the 1 night get away for our anniversary. We have 5 children and my husband is a disabled veteran and saved to surprise me for our anniversary. At 550 a night and paying a sitter we could only afford one night. Our bill after dining and drinks was 945. Fair enough. At checkout I signed for 945 they then charged another 945 when we left and another 3 days later!!! We called the 1st time this happened they said refund in 5 to 7 business days.... 2 days later took it again. We are on a fixed income out 2800 for 1 night and cant get through the rest of the month. Great way to treat a disabled veteran. Management can care less
The Staff!!!!!!! Mike was awesome helping us with our boat everyday he was there. Lacie accommodated us above and beyond what she needed to do. Thea kept the drinks and food coming even in the rain. Wish we could have stayed longer.
The scenery and atmosphere are wonderful. The room was nice and clean, but the food choices are lacking. We ate at Sol by the Sea and found it to be overpriced for what you get. The menu seemed limited to me. We checked for breakfast but after looking at the prices decided to skip it. I think $26 for breakfast eggs is too high. The Beach Bar was nice and our server Nina at the beach was very good. And the pool was great.
Went for a wedding. Arrived for check in at 4:15. Was told my room wasnt ready and was put in a different room. The room I booked had a balcony and was next to other guest for the wedding. The room I was put in was in the farthest tower away from everything. With no view and no balcony. The phone didnt work in the room. The room was adjoined to another room with young kids in it. Could hear them fighting. The couch on the room was stained with something and looked like a mess. The bathroom had Construction putty on the wall. The door to the room was very heavy and slammed shut on you fast which hurt when hit. Also had a piece from the door falling off. Other then that the place was beautiful. Just not happy with the room and that I was given a room I didnt book. Also was not given a late check out when asked.
I’ve stayed here twice and let me tell you how impressive this hotel is. The atmosphere right as you drive in is very professional and the hotel architecture and design is beautiful. The lobby and staff are great and the surrounding area is gorgeous. Pool is decent but comfortable size and beach is also nice. Food is absolutely to die for here as there are multiple places to eat on the grounds and the food everywhere is delicious. Poolside and bar staff were great especially Kevin. Our room was top tier and beds were very comfortable along with everything else in the room. Entire layout of the hotel is great, staff is wonderful, plants and architecture are really nice and rooms are amazing. I recommend this resort 100%
Cannot say enough about this hotel! Beautiful decor, large rooms, the friendliest staff I’ve encountered at a hotel in a very long time, nice extras like courtesy welcome drinks and mimosas in the morning, snow cones for the kids at the pool, everything open and fully staffed, water sports, courtesy bicycles, live music and I’m sure I’m missing a few things. We want to go back right now!
NICE BUT OVERPRICED. PRICES KEEP GOING UP SINCE WE STAYED.LOWER THE PRICES AND WE JUST MIGHT STAY AGAIN. RESTAURANTS NEED BETTER SELECTION.
Playa Largo is probably one of the best places to stay on the upper Keys. The location right on the bay with its private beach and massive pool makes for a relaxed Keys experience. What stands out here is the hotel staff. Waitresses, waiters, bartenders and valet go out of their way to please and to ensure your stay is nothing but the best. That said, the hotel did make several errors. I wont go into them here however suffice it to say the staff made corrections immediately. Be warned that this is only resort we have stayed at that bills your credit card the entire amount prior to check out. In fact, right after the first night. They also tack on a $100/night service fee for incidentals. Apparently people take things from the room when they leave. That is reimbursable although after one day back I have not seen that. One of their staff, Tamara, at the front desk deserves a lot of praise. She goes out of her way to ensure every guest is treated like royalty. Also ran into her again at Sol by the Sea and once again she makes you feel welcome. I think our waiters name was Randy however he too was top notch. The hotel has a small gift shop with assorted tropical wear and some snacks. The restaurants are convenient including Marea, Sol by the Sea and Olas. The cuisine is a mix of Caribbean, Keys, and continental. I recommend Sol by the Sea - cant beat the ambiance and beautiful sunsets right on the water. The pool bar is always very busy during the day and the bartenders are a friendly group who will make sure you get your drink your way. Try the dirty banana!
This not so hidden gem (anymore) is an absolutely beautiful resort just 40 minutes away from Miami. The service is second to none. Alex, the front desk supervisor made sure my family and I were taken care of. He took time not only to guide us through the resort and its amenities but to explain about the history of the property. (Ask about the history of the pineapple plantation).Food options are great, in particular the tuna tartar was amazing.Rooms very clean. Very welcoming staff.Sunset celebration is a must do.Sandra in the breakfast buffet was outstanding making sure our little gril felt like a VIP.
The location and the views are amazing, between the sunset and the night time serenity, it is definitely beautiful! However, the restaurants and dining options are terrible. The prices are extremely unreasonable, especially for the quality and taste received. When dining at one of the restaurants, the ceiling had a leak in multiple spots, despite moving our table. The ceiling leak was dripping into the glasses of soda, and water on the table. The cheapest item that you can find on the menu, is a 26 dollar pizza that was tasteless. The property is nice, and it is well kept. Unfortunately, the entertainment is lacking, and by 9:00pm, the staff is closing up. There is so much potential for this place, and it’s unfortunate because it could have been really good.
Wonderful...friendly......Amazing...great food....clean and our spa experience was heavenly....Ill be back.
Best (and most beautiful) hotel in the upper keys period! You can find less expensive hotels in Key Largo but not more beautiful or better service. If you are looking for an absolute top notch venue and amazing service you will not find better!
We stayed for 5 days and 4 nights. The staff is great. We really appreciated Robert at the front desk and Jean/Manuel were uplifting and fun at the outside bar. There are down sides like the quality of food, the price of food and drinks, the pool wasn’t refreshing because the water was hot, and the ocean wasn’t pretty from the resort. After the first few days we felt forced to travel offsite to try and salvage the trip. There are plenty of things to do in the area and lots of good eats.If you’re looking for a resort that has quality restaurants and a great outdoor atmosphere - you might look elsewhere.
My boyfriend surprised me with a weekend getaway and I couldn’t have enjoyed myself more! This resort was absolutely gorgeous and the staff was beyond friendly. Our bartender Manuel made the most delicious mojitos and gave incredible service. The room was beautiful and had a view of the pool and ocean. They had events each night that guests could attend including a bonfire by the water. I highly recommend this resort to anyone wanting a weekend getaway in the keys!
Dirty rooms, missing couch cushions in living room, subpar food. Not to mention they state the do not allow pets, however there were plenty of dogs large and small barking and also being taken into the ocean with their owners. Not enough chairs on the beach and many people had to sit directly on the sand. For the price they charge, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. I honestly had a hard time finding anything good to say about this place except for being able to watch a nice sunset.
Wanting to get away with my wife domestically we found this resort and loved it. From eating breakfast, we were pleasantly greeted by Paul. He made sure we started our day off right. As we transitioned to the fitness center there was everything we needed to continue our workouts while away from home.We of cousre spent most of our time at the pool or beach and so glad we met Jordan to provide luxury service of drink recommendations or making sure out food was served to perfection. We made sure to find Jordans section the next day knowing we would have that highest level of service. Also, there was another lady, Riley I think who also was a pleasure to be around. She made sure we felt at home. The rooms had been updated at some post in the past few years as it all seemed up to date. Being a Lifetime Platinum Elite member, Ive been around and stayed at other nice resorts but here, you could tell their team went above and beyond to help. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we look forward to returning soon.
Nya at the sandbar was amazing. She is detail oriented & personable. Skyler was also great she made us feel special going above n beyond making our stay perfect.
Great property! Easy check-in process from Derrika at the front desk and Rick the bellman. Adam the Concierge was also great in helping me reserve our poolside cabana. Rooms are beautiful.
Love the hospitality, customer service is top notch. From the restaurant to Valet Parking.
The hotel was beautiful, rooms were spacious, and amenities were wonderful. We have visited a couple of times; and would return, again. I would like to suggest a few things: some sort of covering on the fruit at breakfast (or closing the doors), as it attracts fruit flies; and having the housekeeping manager inspect the showers (as ours needed some bleaching to the grout). Also, the sushi was not boxed with wasabi and I needed to wait for the server to return with it (an additional 5min), which was fine but could have been avoided as most sushi is served with Wasabi and pickled ginger. Other than that, everything was great!
My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights on our honeymoon. It’s a nice resort with friendly staff. The room was clean and spacious. We had a first floor room that had a private patio entrance, and that was really nice to have easy access to the pool and beach instead of having to walk through the building dripping wet! The beach is nice and you can snorkel out there and see some things. There’s also a dock where you can fish, and the resort lets you use fishing rods and bait for free, you just ask for them at the hut near the pool! The restaurants are good and the nightly celebration called Eventide at sunset with music and drinks is nice! I will say though, for the price we paid to stay there, I think the nightly piña coladas served in pineapples should be free- instead they’re $18 apiece. The “white” lounge chairs at the beach have stains on every single one, and I was a little too grossed out to sit on them. I guess it’s just a huge buildup of tanning oil and sunscreen. Overall, the place is nice, but I would likely look into trying a different resort if I’m ever back in Key Largo.
Almost everything is perfect in this hotel! It makes no sense to list all the advantages - there are a lot of them. But I will only point out two serious shortcomings: there are not enough 10-14 umbrellas by the pool. You have to take places under the umbrellas from 8 in the morning. And the pillows in the room were very uncomfortable. Nevertheless, this superb hotel is our favorite place to stay! Thanks to all the staff at this hotel! But buy pool umbrellas and quality pillows please. Im sure this is much more important to guests than expensive iPads on the nightstands.
Rarely can I say that everything exceeded our expectations. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, the restaurants are great, rooms very spacious and nice the outdoor areas are beautiful. Highly recommend.
This is more a review of the amazing chefs at this resort, specifically Chef Allen and Chef Christian. We just vacationed here and my 5 year old has celiac disease. When I made the reservation I was promised there were many gluten free options. However when we arrived I saw that the gluten free items were not kid friendly. The first couple days were very rough. For breakfast they brought her “gluten free toast” which was really a burnt hamburger bun. For dinner she wanted plain rice and she was given sushi rice which was full of vinegar. She barely ate for 2 days. We arranged to leave early because we were heartbroken and stressed. Chef Allen emailed me and it felt like such a weight was lifted off of me! He offered to make her favorites all gluten free. Then Chef Christian called me to offer his help with anything we might need from them. These men are gems! The rest of our stay was stress free and amazing for all of us but especially for our 5 year old. We even ended up staying for our full vacation time. The main reason I would go back is because of how safe and taken care of Chef Allen and Chef Christian made us feel! I just can’t say enough wonderful things about them. If you have food allergies or celiac, feel safe in staying here.
My wife and I went here on our honeymoon, the resort was beautiful, the staff was very friendly and nice. The room was really nice too.The downsides: the concierge set us up for a, romantic last night on your honeymoon sunset dinner. However, the destination she booked for us was full on party mode. People were pouring shots off a bottle they brought in their bag, in each others mouths, the music was obnoxiously loud, and a drink my wife ordered got her sick. This essentially ruined our last night in Key Largo. There was also a wedding onsite Friday night, and there was no parking due to the rehearsal, and dinner. The resorts only recommendation was to valet our vehicle, so its their problem. Also, half of the beach was basically closed off for the wedding, and a large portion of the resort as well. Kind of frustrating when you try to find a place to hang out and its all closed off for the wedding. Forcing the regular guests to crowd a significantly smaller area.Other than the few negatives, the resort was clean, fun, and beautiful. Unfortunately we probably wont be staying at this resort again.
The spa was amazing! Lara did a wonderful job with my massage and I left feeling so relaxed. I loved it so much I booked another service with her for the next day. The sauna and shower area was perfect. If you are at Playa Largo you should definitely check out the spa!
Our stay was superb! Because of my travels, Im an Ambassador with Marriott and this place did not disappoint. From the time we walked in and were greeted by Rickoy at the bellstand, to Kadien and Suraj at the front desk. They were helpful throughout our stay and always very accommodating. Travis, Jamie, and Jean were all excellent pool side and very helpful with our Cabana rental. Marley and Manuel were amazing bartenders at the pool bar and my wife and I joined them daily. In addition, the crew at Sol as well as William, the Manager, were beyond fantastic and went over the top on the experience for Mel and I. At the Spa, Lara Pullan was an absolute fantastic massage therapist. I had back surgery approximately 9 weeks before the couples massage we were getting ready for, Lara listened to the extent of what I had experienced and worked with me to ensure my experience was altered for this unfortunate condition. Thank you Lara and my wife enjoyed her massage with Connor Maheady as well. Lastly, I was afforded the opportunity to meet Victor, the Operations Manager - he took the time to speak with me regarding our stay and how everything was going during our stay - he listened and through this experience, he felt like a friend. We WILL definitely return to Playa Largo and Im hopeful we get the opportunity to spend time with all of them again.
It was ok.1. It is a good resort, although the bed was stained, and same with the pillows, outside chairs and more.2. The beach was good and the pool, and the outside is fine.3. When we asked for more towels because we went to the beach, they rudely declined and one of the workers was also very rude and ignorant.4. Our power went out when all we had was 3 chargers plugged in. Our lamps also would not turn on.5. The beds had some hairs, and the shower had hairs and white stains as well.6. Finally, my kids were not going to sleep, so we decided to go down to the pool area to lounge, and the elevator was stuck for about 5 minutes.
My family of 5 stayed in one of the 2 story bungalows on-site. Our stay was amazing. The property is gorgeous and the staff are top notch. Every staff member was happy to help and so pleasant. Everything here invites relaxation, from the lush landscaping to the peaceful, waterfront scenery. We loved winding down each night by the pool and ocean. The nightly Eventide event was always a fun way to relax and take in the sunset. I loved that there was always somewhere available to relax by the water. We never had to circle and wait for chairs to become available. The atmosphere at night is so nice. There are firepits, lights, hammocks, etc. -- places throughout the property, inside and out, to take in the scenery. I loved that there was a great energy to the evening but things always settled down at night so we werent disturbed when we were ready to go to bed. My teenage boys enjoyed fishing from the dock (poles and bait are included with your stay) and we also took advantage of the kayaks and paddle boards (these are an extra fee but worth it). I was a little worried that staying in the bungalow would feel too separated from the hotel and the conveniences but this was not the case. We were actually very pleased with the privacy of our bungalow and only had a quick 20 second walk from our door to the beach front. We received daily housekeeping services just like everyone else and they even delivered a cute blue cooler each morning with fruit, freshly brewed coffee, and a small box of croissants. We simply left it outside when we were finished for our next days refill. It was nice to have a full kitchen that we could keep stocked with our favorite snacks. The kitchen is stocked with a good variety of cooking utensil basics. The bungalow was roomy and clean. It was nice for the 5 of us to be able to spread out when we were in the house, and 2 bathrooms help a lot when everyone needs to get showered and ready. I cant say enough good things about this property. It is perfect for couples but I can confidently say is teenager friendly too. We dont have young kids so we cant speak to that. The location was great, very close to all of our excursions, a Publix, gas stations, and local shops/restaurants. We even spent a day in Miami and the drive was not bad at all. A little over an hour but we honestly could have been happy just staying at the property each day. We will definitely stay again if we return to Key Largo. Thank you for a wonderful 4 days!
Good staff, great service, clean room. We when for our 50 anniversary, was really relaxing. The only thing we missing was the entertainment. They only has a couple who came twice a week for 3 hours. Also need to improve the way to cook in La Marea Resta urantThey can o better for the price. Is a shame
Waoo super good, the beach beautiful, good music, very hot as a typical day in the florida keys.the pool good too.
Grear customer service, lots of staff, food was good at the restaurants, the place was kinda clean but I did notice trash around the resort among the brushes. The room was very clean. They failed to mention the extra charges of $70 a day in taxes and fees. This place was pretty expensive including drinks at the bars. The Welcome Free drink is non-alcoholic too. There is a 20% gratuity added on to food and bar tabs automatically.
Everything about this place is amazing. Kismet the director of front office is superb! He is professional, accommodating and pleasant. Dana at Las Olas is a great bartender and masters the Smokey old fashioned. I am looking forward to coming back with my whole family!
The hotel called me the night before our check-in that the the upgrade we confirmed a week prior was “unfortunately” unavailable. The problem was the room we had reserved prior to getting an upgrade was now also no longer available. I have the highest status available at Marriott after spending a lot of $ and hundreds of nights with them…I can’t believe that they ruined my family’s vacation literally the night before our flight.
Be careful when looking at their Tripadvisor reviews; they clearly get away with writing their own by using a VPN. This place has a reputation as being the worst place to work in the Keys as well as a lousy place to stay. - A local
I will tell you something that travel agents do not want you to know about. When reserving places use ʜᴏᴛᴇʟʙᴜʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏᴍ They easily have the best deals on resorts! Way better than using orbitz, priceline, agoda. Thats for sure!!!Great property! Easy check-in process from Derrika at the front desk and Rick the bellman. Adam the Concierge was also great in helping me reserve our poolside cabana. Rooms are beautiful.
We had a great room with a Bay view. The King size suite was large, modern and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Food was amazing! The main reason I didnt give more stars was because the beach and pool werent up to luxury hotel standards. The beach lounges didnt have umbrellas so I couldnt lay out by the Bay. The pool was over crowded with people drinking and eating in the pool, footballs flying, babies in diapers, and over- sized children floaties. Not very hygienic and strange since the staff were all wearing co-vid masks.
This resort is over hyped and priced. There was something wrong or missing every day of our stay. Staff was friendly but not thorough. The maid service never did a good job. No coffee cups one day, no coffee one day, no creamer one day, same stir stick left everyday. Bath mat first couple of days, then we were using a hand towel, which the maids left on the floor for 2 days. Soap dispensers in bath didn’t work, had to take the plunger out and get soap off the stick. Remote didn’t work, toilet float broke. Everyday something else. Trash cans on property were left overflowing for several days, along with the smoke station receptacle overflowing the entire time we were there. We would not recommend this resort.
Amazing location. This hotel needs better quality food, so bring your snacks :) Its food is mediocre at best.. The service is not the greatest either. When you are paying $1200.00 per night, one would expect higher quality service, food, cleanliness, etc. This hotel is gorgeous and I will return, but as many others have stated you can get more for your money elsewhere. This place needs wayyy better service along with MAINTENANCE AND CLEANLINESS OF ROOMS. I do not pay $1200.00 per night to see a suite with carpet stains, holes in walls that have been POORLY repaired, sealing damage on both floors of my suite, HOWEVER the suites are lovely and keep me returning, so please maintain them.. LASTLY, Check-In took nearly 1.5 hours past the check-in time of 4:00 p.m. This place needs to get it together to keep the business of individuals such as myself.. Other than these small issues, I will return and highly recommend this location.
Had a great day here enjoying the facilities. Service at the pool was very good. The bartenders did a great job making our drinks, Pina Coladas, Frozen Mojitos and some special drinks for the kids, Chocolate and strawberry daiquiris.Only complaint would be that some of the lounge chars poolside had worn out back slings making them very uncomfortable. I didnt realize the problem until I switched seats with my wife and she told me my chair had a problem. I just assumed it was an uncomfortable chair... The food quality at the poolside restaurant was better than expected. We had a wonderful table sitting between the pool and beach. The adults enjoyed a chicken sandwich and a grilled Mahi Mahi sandwich and the kids had chicken fingers and a chicken quesadilla. The beach and pool were very nice.. its a perfect place to learn how to snorkel.. even though there are not many fish it was shallow and very calm making it easy for my 6 year old to get the hang of snorkeling in open water. We will definitely go back again.
Positive: It was a perfect experience! From start to finish
This resort is regularly featured in CN and T&L. I feel it lives up to the hype. Beautiful pool deck and private beach. The poolside food and drink service was prompt. Drinks are about $15 each, which I feel is common for a luxury resort. High quality fresh seafood, fresh squeezed OJ and pastries baked on site.
Wonderful place, beautiful rooms, gorgeous setting. Very nice, helpful staff. This would have been a 5-star rating if our room had been cleaned during our stay, as we were assured it would be. We had to ask for clean towels, coffee service, etc. at the front desk. Not what one would expect at a facility of this caliber and price point.
In June we stopped in for lunch and decided to give it a try during our next adventure to the Keys. We really enjoyed our stay and we’ll definitely be back. It’s only 1.5 hours from Miami, which is really convenient for a weekend getaway. Every was nice and helpful. The grounds were clean and beautiful. The rooms were well appointed and spacious and we had a great water view. We enjoyed this family friendly resort in Key Largo. My only critique is to have more servers taking care of the beach. We walked to the bar and/or the restaurant and ordered drinks and food. There was only one server on the beach. We were there for hours and she never got to us. We didn’t really mind, but it would’ve been nice to have better service on the beach. Still giving 5 stars for overall experience!
Fantastic new property. Great rooms and pool area. Not cheap but the value for money was the best we got in the Keys. Only downside were the sub-pqr restaurant experiences.
Very nice resort. Friendly staff, rooms were very nice, pool area nice as well. Beach area nice and secluded from other areas. Nighttime sunset celebration every night. Didnt eat at any of the onsite restaurants. Did get some drinks at the beach/pool side bar, a little pricey at $15 each.
It was awfullll management is alll over the place they don’t know what the heck they are doing some of the staff memebers don’t look professional at all !! nappy hair the manager Alexis from the sushi bar it was disgusting I found a piece of hair on my food because of her !! And on top of that I was already complaining about how the ceiling was dripping water and they never fixed it also the bathrooms were dirty only good thing there was the food and drinks not worth the price at all tho
Please READ until the end, I always end on a positive note. I will most likely not be choosing this resort again; I only chose the resort because I was under the impression it was all inclusive. To me all inclusive meant pay for the stay and some food, but most drinks, gabbanas and other amenities would be free to use or consume. I reached out via email to see if the resort was in fact all inclusive but no one responded so better communication would be appreciated. I paid extra for the room with a view to only have trees blocking said view and a ton of mosquitos. For a resort to make so much per night it might be worth investing in something that helps the guest not be eaten alive enjoying the view. I can acknowledge my own faults in selecting this resort. I should have done more thorough research before selecting it. I also should have fought harder to get in contact with someone regarding my concerns. Lastly, inform your guests that if you even think you might want to do a couples massage pick a date when booking or very soon after. The spa schedule is ridiculous within good reason Im sure but itd be helpful. Although I will not be returning I will DEFINITELY share the things that I enjoyed. I loved the check in mimosas and free valet service, gave a great vacation feel. I love my room it was very clean and comfy, and the robes were a really nice touch. I like that they had 3 options to dine and enjoy with having to leave. I also loved that everything was digital and you only needed your room key to access all menus . The staff was awesome each day we were there. The drink were AMAZING, if you want to be drunk or buzzed your whole trip youll be fine. I know that noone goes on vacation for the gym buuuuut I LOVED their gym. With the exception of a barbell they had everything you would need to maintain your level of fitness while away. Last but not least, they have the best pool Ive ever been in in my life. The first day you get there walk the resort change into vacation clothes site see a little but at night.....GET IN THE POOL. Thank you for the hospitality and the break away from daily life.
For the price that we paid during the spring break, one would have expected more. The cleanliness around the pool and beach could be much better. The sand all over and inside the jacuzzi. Not enough lounge chairs. Service is OK yet they charge 20% gratuity automatically. And when you ask them to lower it, they argue that its just part of their service. Make aure you go over your final bill. We had to diapute couple of charges. Oh, and they charge $45 per day for the resort fee. At least valet service is included in that resort fee. I dont see anything else. The rooms are nice, clean and spacious. Spacious balcony with two chairs and a coffee table are an added bonus. All in all, I would recommend this place at $200 per night max. But at $650 per night, absolutely not worth it!
I got really mixed feelings about this place.Upon checking in, our bungalow had a coffee mug and used towels from the previous guests on the second floor balcony. Housekeeping were able to address that quickly, and promised us of some credits for dinner. However, we didnt see those credits applied by the time we checked out.Had dinner at Sol by the sea. It felt like they were saving the windows seats for some reason. Those seats were always not available even though one was empty the whole time we were there. Food was okay, nothing astounding.Room service was slow. Asked for some shower gel and those didnt not show up until next morning. Also the lack of hot water at times in the bungaloos was troublesome.Overall a great location and a nice beach, but it felt as though a few pieces were missing
Dirtiest room I have checked into in a long time. Main lobby is lovely and clean. Building we are in is dirty. Room is dirty. Sanitized? Crumbs on dresser. Have to clean feet after walking on floor. Particles all over floor. Dust everywhere. Elevator filthy.
What a great hotel. Wish we stayed longer.
The Playa Largo Resort was a beautiful property with both a beach and pool. There were multiple restaurants in the resort, with my favorite being Sol by the Sea. Although the beach was nice, there were not enough chairs, so you’ll have to wake up early to reserve one. The service from the Sand Bar, the restaurant by the pool that also does the beach service, seemed understaffed. Wait times at that restaurant were very high and orders were often incorrect. At one point, someone told a family member to drink something they did not order because “you might like it” despite the drink being both incorrect and something the guest had already tried and didn’t like. Wait times averaged out at an hour and a 15 minutes waiting for lunch foods like a burger, which is long given the quality and location. Go to Sol by the Sea instead. On the beach there is a pier where guests can swim and fish using resort rods. There is also a third party water sport company that has paddle boards, kayaks, parasailing, and a wildlife tour. Staff there were nice and friendly! The rooms themselves were nice, but the advertised king pull out couch was small (a twin) which made it hard to fit multiple people on it. The hotel spa was extremely relaxing, and I recommend the massages and steam room. Staff at the spa were very friendly!TLDR: Overall, the Playa Largo resort is a solid vacation destination with some little things holding it back.
Great for couples and families. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The lobby and pool area are beautiful. Our bay suite was amazing. One of the bigger beaches and easily accessible water for all. Thanks for a great stay.
Excellent, clean, beautiful, and relaxed resort. I was upgraded to a 1-bedroom suite with a nice view of the ocean – one of the nicer hotel rooms I have ever stayed in. Amenities, such as the pool, were top notch as well.Tips: Eat dinner outside the resort. Sol by the Sea has a beautiful location, but the prices are fairly high and the food while good is not good enough for what they charge. However, la Marea has excellent breakfast. Also, if you plan to drink anything poolside, go to Publix and buy it there. It was over $30 for two drinks at the Tiki Hut!I only have two mild criticisms. First, although guests can access the beach for free, there are no free activities for them to do. Unlike nearby properties (*cough*, Bakers Cay Curio), guests here are expected to spend money on kayaks, paddle boards, etc. This is after a $45/night resort fee and exorbitant pricing (prevailing rate was $1,000+ night when I booked, though I paid entirely with points). Second, there were more areas than I would have liked in the pool area that were a tripping hazard. The flooring bent upwards in some areas, making it very easy to trip. Luckily it did not happen, but it felt like a lawsuit waiting to happen.
Awesome stay in the bungalows. Top notch resort and service!
Playa Largo is a beautiful, tastefully decorated upscale waterfront resort. Our family members enjoyed their stay.
It was not as clean as I expected. Clean enough, but... And, if you are seeking a quiet, relaxing time away, without 30-40 screaming children running around and throwing frisbees and footballs at the pool, this is not the place to be.
Extremely disappointed with Marriott reservations in booking this property and I havent even stayed here yet. They completely botched my reservation and offered nothing but nearly 2x the nightly rate as a fix. Horrendous service and not what I expect from Marriott. Maybe the stay will make up for their mistake. We will see.UPDATE: The manager at the location did the best he could to fix the issue. Move from 1 star to 3 as this wasn’t the fault of the hotel.
“To start, we paid for an ocean view suite, which ended up being obstructed with trees and vegetation - barely able to see any water at all. Perhaps it would behoove the property owners to spend a little money on maintenance of the property. On the same subject, the rooms are loud from the corridors, to the adjacent rooms, to the rooms above. I construct hotels for a living and this certainly wouldnt pass a sound transmission test on anything I have seen.On to food and beverage, night one we chose to eat on-property. The food was dismal at best. Food that you would expect from a full service Marriott, with a basic kitchen, not an autograph collection, which boasts over multiple options and choosing from tempting restaurants and dazzling our senses. Exotic tastes? More like a thrown-together processed meal. No thanks. When ordering a beer, I was told they didnt have 5 out of the 6 I ordered. Not just for the night, for 3 consecutive days. Want wine? I was told there wasnt a wine list and they offered (1) option. This is a 4.5 start resort and we paid $800/night and we get served underwhelming food and cant even choose what we drink? Not a good look for Marriott. The pool is understaffed, but the (1) server was very nice and attentive. However, the price of the snacks is cheaper at the Four Seasons across the globe. The $3 for a coffee in the lobby is shameful. If youre paying $800 a night, give the guests a coffee. Its tacky.Every single call placed to the front desk - every single one - took 3-5 minutes to pick up. We ended up walking up to valet to get our car. Speaking of valet, all of the attendants were wonderful and a pleasure.Last, and the sole reason I decided to engage this survey, the checkout experience. The day before checkout, we utilized the spa - the masseuses were fantastic and the pricing was fair. However, the steam room was not turned on. I requested it to be turned on 3 separate times, to no avail. I ended up not having enough time to utilize this and the spa manager was kind to give me a day pass to use the next morning. I was able to enjoy that the day of checkout, but not until late morning. Prior to doing so, we went to the front desk to ask for a late checkout, in order to utilize the spa. The front desk manager about had a melt down and told us no. Then he went on about how hes had it up to here with late checkout requests and has had enough of it. I simply responded with the dilemma from the day before and requested an hour to utilize the spa. He granted us 30 minutes. Poor customer service and attitude is something that rubs me the wrong way. This property is a 3* property, with a rate of $270-320/night max. The neighboring properties are much more adequately equipped for 4-5* resorts. This needs updated staffing and updated food and beverage. We wont be returning to this property again.Good luck with your property, it needs attention across the board as you can see.
Just got back from a 6 day babymoon with my wife. What an amazing time. The grounds are well kept and beautiful. Loved the live music every night.Jean the bartender truly made our trip special. So friendly and remembered everything about us from day 1. Made me some of the best caipirinha I have had, and wonderful mocktails for my wife.Location is great too, being close to great eats on the island and a quick drive down from Miami.100% will be back again. I hope Jean will still be there!
Sol restaurant had some consistency issues.
Wonderful hotel with the nicest staff. Nice beach with shade trees. Nice pool. Hotel was very clean
Playa Largo is one of the only sandy bottom beaches in the Keys. The hotel is incredible and had every resort amenity you can think of + more. The event tide is a really neat idea. The staff are top notch. Viktor and Kevin are some of the kindest and best I’ve met in the hospitality industry. One of my favorite getaways.
Our wait for our room was over 3 hoursToo longHowever this resort is very nice
The property was great! I’ll try to upgrade next time to a beach view room. Our room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. We enjoyed having coffee on the balcony in be mornings. The bartender at the Sand Bar (Manuel) was excellent. We also enjoyed lunch at Sol by the Sea. Our server, Shabonia, was amazing! She was the only server, but did a wonderful job of providing personable and efficient service. We had dinner at Sol by the Sea too. Sorry, I can’t remember the servers name. She was great I’m the beginning, but we never saw her again until the check game. Regardless, the food was delicious and she was very nice. Kudos also to Amelia, a Supervisor, who also provided excellent service with resolving a situation we experienced. She was extremely helpful and professional. We look forward to future visits!
Positive: The pool and waterside beach area and exclusive resort feel. Great music at the pool. Safe and clean environment. Hand sanitizer everywhere. Room was very clean and had a sticker sealing the door to confirm. The property is very well maintained. Negative: Could not eat breakfast on site because it was too crowded. No option for room service so I had to drive offsite to get food daily. Luckily it wasn’t very far away.
Very pricey.. breakfast beyond continental is not included. You’re paying for the name, not top notch. Having stayed many other times in key largo at more intimate settings. With what you pay for resort fees you can find a local dive motel with a private beach and more intimate and better services
This negative review was written after seeking assistance at multiple points during our stay and after one final time at check out. At this point, we showed the front desk photos and they initially seemed sincere in their concern and promise that we would be contacted by management, but as of the date of this review, we have not heard from anyone. The Playa Largo, a category 7 property, was a disappointing experience in spite of the beautiful location. As a Titanium member, the choice to stay at this location rather than somewhere else, was made based on the advertised experiences, but we found the staff, management, and facilities to be unorganized, inconsiderate, and horribly unclean. The servers at the Sand Bar were unprofessional and were loudly competing with one another regarding how many mixed drinks they could test out for “customer satisfaction” (approximately 5-530pm on 3/19). The guaranteed Club House was frequently inaccessible, supplied with no towels, a broken phone, trash in the towel and hamper, and the showers unclean and disgusting.Overall, the poor service and cleanliness along with a lack of follow through has led me to make other choices when returning to the Keys.
Very pretty resort, it has a lot of “wear and tear so to say, the rooms, furniture and the beach chairs are very used. Bar tenders are quick and food is good.
Great food at Sol restaurant, esp very fresh fish, outstanding quality. But $21 for a martini (plus obligatory 20% gratuity) is outrageous price !Snorkeling boats, which stay on Bay side, onsite, but hardly any fish to see.I will go again, though, and not snorkel in bay, or order any mixed drinks at Sol
Amazing place with the best cosumers services and greatest management. Victor did a great job seeing all employees smiling and making you feel comfortable. Also the prices are very good comparing the service you get.
Watched the sunset while listening to the live music and enjoying great friends. Highly recommend checking out Playa Largo if you get the chance!
Place is incredible. Daughters favorite part was parasailing and shes 8! Savannah made our stay the best weve ever had out of any place in the world. So friendly, nice, informative and accommodating! Shout out to the boys in front as they are diligent, hardworking and very friendly. Please tip them out! They deserve it!!!
Positive: Beach, pool, restaurants, activities and relaxing atmosphere! Negative: Nothing
A beautiful resort with 2-star service. A sacred few look happy to be there. Despite the beautiful pool and natural joys of being on the water, this resort lacks that “special feel” because the people who work there are not well trained nor are they authorized to do anything not in the rule book to fix a problem for a guest. The service failures were too many to count, and so I don’t think I’d return.
Great property and some of the best service ever. We will come back for sure. If you havent been, just come down and enjoy!

WHat a weekend...THANK YOU PLAYA LARGO FOR Making my family fantasies a REALITY!!!!
What an amazing place! The resort is magnificent. The staff/service is on point. Everyone is friendly, warm, welcoming, ready to make your experience a pleasant one. The food is delish. Would give it 5 stars but the rooms are not sound proof enough. You can hear everything, so if you are a light sleeper, make sure to get the top floor or ask for a quiet room. Besides that.... its perfection! I highly recommend and yes, I would go again (but on the top floor next time lol)
The resort was everything we hoped it would be. Great location for fun and relaxing!
When you pay a high price for a hotel room you expect to have some type of exchange for the value. I felt like they just price gouge you every time they can. The hotel is beautiful, most of the staff was friendly and helpful, but I also ran into a few completely rude employees. They charged me almost $17 for a MANDATORY mask and didnt even tell me the price til after swiping my card. I wouldnt stay hereagain.
We had an amazing time on our stay for our 10 year anniversary. We enjoyed watching the sunset celebrations every night and we loved Ferman who took really good care of us at the Sandbar by the pool. He made our trip an unforgettable one. The beach area was beautiful and the water was so clear. You have the best of both worlds...the beach and the pool. The restaurant on site was amazing as well. My only complaint would be the room not being extremely clean. There was a good bit of dust on different things and if you need to request anything from housekeeping, it takes a while to get it. Other than that this place is beautiful and we really enjoyed our trip.
I want to start off by saying that the Food & Beverage at this resort is amazing. We had wonderful servers at all of the outlets and the food is amazing! Riley at The Sand Bar was our server all week and took amazing care of us! We loved ordering drinks through her and she was incredibly attentive to our needs! Ricardo at Sol was super kind and made our dinner experience so fun! We also enjoyed our time at the spa and had great service and wonderful treatments. We did hear several times throughout our trip that many areas are under staffed due to the pandemic, so we were sure to be patient and to tip well during our time here! However; the hotel side of service was extremely lacking. When we checked into our room, we noticed that we had been given the wrong room type so we headed back down to the front desk to correct that. I told the front desk that I booked direct and was told that we would have a queen room with a balcony; when I addressed it with the desk they told us that it was ‘too late to change rooms because of corona virus, and that they would call us the next day to change rooms’. Well, that never happened. We then later that night noticed the black mold in our shower, which is not okay, and I emailed the front desk and assistant front desk manager our concerns of the black mold and also that no one had contacted us to switch rooms. We NEVER heard back from management about the mold or switching room types. Incredibly disappointing. We checked out on 7/8/20 and I have still not received a final bill or a response to the mold or room type.Stay here for the experience of great f&b service, but don’t expect much from the hotel side.
Positive: Beautiful hotel with great pool and beach. Negative: Drinks $$
Beautiful Place and Claudy was THE BEST!!!
Beautiful resort, friendly staff, and great location!
