Bernhards meat processing is one of the best processors in the area. Their sausage recipe is flavorful and customizable and they have some really good options in terms of different products. My favorite with them is the jalapeno cheese sausage, but even the plain is very good. They did take a little bit longer than other deer processors to get my meat back to me this year and I found out, to my disappointment, that they dont automatically vacuum pack the meat, its an upcharge you have to ask for (I didnt). Also, they are quite expensive compared to some of the other processors in the area. All of that taken together, the general quality and flavor of the meat is worth the price if you are getting value added products (like sausage, jerky, etc). If you are looking for simple butchering, probably best to look at some cheaper options nearby. Certainly, if youre looking for a great meat processor in the Kerrville area, Bernhards should be near the top of your list.
Fresh and some of the tastiest beef Ive bought locally. Not everyone is great at customer service, but I wouldnt base buying good meat on that criteria alone.Weve had good friendly service and top quality meat for home and competition cooking!!Their freezer packs are awesome as well.SO HAPPY to have options for FRESH LOCAL meats AND support Small local businesses!!
Best meat market Ive been too! I love their summer sausage, pencil links, great big rib eyes. Will continue to travel from san antonio to kerrville to go to this meat market highly recommend
I just pick up my Muel Deer last Monday the 30th.I originally asked for as much Jerky as I could get. I got 4 pounds. I have had it for a week in zip lock bags(the way it came). Not even air tight sealed bags. It has been in the brown bag rolled up in a cool dry location. when I went to get a piece this morning(a week later). Every bag had mold in it. This is sad. I live over an hour and a half away. This was my first time going to your business. Dont think I will ever come back.
I had dropped off a donation deer here previously for Hunters for the Hungry. They were really helpful and very efficient. Today (after whitetail season is over for the year), I went to them with a large feral hog that wed taken last night. They were closed and their staff wasnt around for drop offs but there were several customers there that had the keys and helped me to unload my 350lb hog. I am so happy that these guys were there and were willing to lend a hand.
Great meat!!! The pan sausage (hot) and Italian sausage are my favorites along with the dry ring for my deer processing. The meat market meats are outstanding. The rib-eye and Turkey jerky and their cheese selections are fantastic as well.
In my 45 years of hunting, Bernhard Meat Processing is hands down the best processor for wild game Ive ever utilized--the quality and consistency of their meat processing as well as the variety of options available are unmatched by their competition. In addition, their meat market is off the charts. Their steaks are expertly cut, trimmed and the marbeling of their strip streaks is simply unparalleled. These steaks are always the highlight of the week for my 95 year old father and I. We prefer a Bernhard steak on the grill rather than going to any steak house--theyre simply that good. Finally, their specialty cheeses and sausages make for awesome snacks on game day. I urge you to make the trip to to Bernhards to have your wild game processed and to purchase your steaks, sausages, and cheeses--theyre that good!!!
Went in to check out selection for an upcoming cook off, the man working was very standoffish and rude. Will take my business elsewhere. It also looks like they just sell mass produced meat.
Incredibly nice place. Clean facilitys, clean processor and clean showroom.Staff is very knowledgeable and friendly for first timers or seasoned hunters. Was impressed with the amount of processing options.

I dont like the fact that other people can actually touch the dry meat or beef jerky themselves. I was waiting to get some beef jerky and these young kids were touching All of the dry meat. The parents just let them. Sorry but for me I think that is not right. We just got the dry sausage (that they didnt touch). Plus the man at counter was not friendly at all. Never again.
Love this place. I always stop here for some jalapeno cheese summer sausage.
Placed my order with Mark for some sausage - deer mixed with brisket. Took some links for a tailgate party before the UTSA game. It was some of the best sausage Ive ever had. Juicy without being greasy and hardly any gamey taste at all. It was a hit with the whole crowd!
Best meat market in the Kerrville/Ingram area!! A must stop when passing by for some of the best smoked meats around. Hand cut and trimmed steaks, pork, and chicken. They also do custom wild game processing. The prime selection of beef is second to none and very fairly priced. Went in for 15 steaks in total... Wound up with 6- 2 thick prime ribeyes, 6- 2.5 thick prime filets, and 4- 1.75 thick prime New York Strips. All were cut off a whole loin of each cut of meat and trimmed to my liking. All in all 16 prime choice steaks hand carved the total was under 240$(thats 15$ a steak) very very reasonable on the price for the extremely high quality of product produced.
Just drove out of BErnhards on way to SAT airport. This is my second outstanding experience here. EVERYTHING Is done right! They packed and insulated the boxes of frozen pig, black buck and wildabeast at 49.8 pounds to allow to be with us on the plane. Big problem is when word gets around northern New York that I am bringing home Burnhards sausage I will suddenly have a bunch of new and hungry friends
This place is AMAZING! Great quality meats and the folks are very friendly and helpful.
Excellent Meat Processing, love the spices they use and the flavor. I think their mild smoked link is the best!
Sent an entire deer to be quartered/boned. Asked for whole backstrap and tenderloins. I received 2lbs total labeled backstrap, and 9oz labeled tenderloin. The remaining meat is in plastic bags unlabeled. I dont know who got my deer but it definitely wasnt me.
Ive bin eating this jerky for years
