Worse than a waste of money. Our original measurement was 3.1 pCi/L. After we paid $1,480 and The Radon Specialist did the mitigation work, the measurement was 3.0 pCi/L. Instead of getting any meaningful improvement, we only got extra holes drilled in our new floors. I would have literally been better off just burning the money.

Zito Radon Removal and The Radon Specialists are the two best radon mitigation firms in the WinstonSalem/Kernersville/HighPoint area. Both are certified and bonded (insured). If you get lower quotes from other firms, make sure you ask if the person who is actually working at your house is certified, not just working for someone else who is certified.Scott Zito was willing to come out to my house and evaluate the situation before giving me an estimate. Zito was very knowledgeable, and i wanted him to do the mitigation. Unfortunately, he was booked up and wouldn’t be able to get to our house for a couple weeks. He recommended Abe at The Radon Specialists.Abe presented us with a very thorough proposal, and a guarantee to reduce the radon levels below 4 pCi/L. Abe and his son were very professional, answered all my questions and left the house cleaner than when they arrived. Afterwards they performed a certified test to document that the radon levels had been properly mitigated to safe levels.I highly recommend both Scott and Abe.

Abe and his team recently installed two Radon mitigation systems for our home in Kernersville; one for the air and one for the water (which comes from a ground well.) Our numbers were rediculously high for both. Even our realtor said shed never seen numbers that high! What surprised me was learning that few people in our area have mitgation systems? Yet Radon can cause lung and (in the case of drinking infused water) stomach cancer. Its not something my husband and I wanted to risk. Now, with the systems in place for less than a week, the levels of Radon in our home are well below EPA standards! The guys did a great job, were very nice and professional, worked very efficiently to make sure the system was installed properly, running smoothly, and looked good both inside and outside my home.
