Mark and Cindy were great! Got me in, and got my problem fixed right away for a fair and reasonable price. They have worked on my husbands truck prior to this and did an amazing job! His truck drives like its new now. Highly recommend.
The owner took good care of me. Did more than I would have Anticipated. Very knowledgeable. I will be returning if I need you for more work.
Locally owned business. Great owners. There was sense of caring and professionalism, an effort to understand my wants and needs, quality work that exceeded expectations. Seriously, bonus points because Mark took an interest in my project, makes suggestions and goes the extra mile to make sure the job is done the right way. I only wish they did more than transmission work. I really feel like Im in good hands with Mark and Cindy. You pay for this level of quality work but only once since whatever it is gets fixed the right way and things turn out just how they told you it would before they started the work. Highly recommended.
Im having a custom transmission put in and 71 Chevy pickup and these guys are the best about figuring out the mechanics of it.
I went to gen trans A few months back and my experience was the best one at a shop i have ever had .i was sent there on the word of a friend and boy was he right . i was told mark is the best in the buisness . well mark delivered unbelievable professional timely, honest and didnt ding me hard . as a matter of fact he saved me alot of money .i couldnt be more happy with the way things went. if i ever have a problem i cant fix i know were im going general transmission . thank you mark and crew
Fixed my 02 Chevy avalanche 2500. Transmission was basically junk and Mark and his team have it good as new. Very satisfied!
I am very happy with the work done on my van and the methodical approach to what needed to be done. I plan to take my other vehicles here for other work.
This is the place to go when you dont want to have to replace your entire transmission they will actually fix the problem that youre having with your transmission I totally recommend this place. When you want the best in a car, you buy a Mercedes or BMW. When you want the best in transmissions, you go to General Transmission. They did an exceptional rebuild on my 2006 Dodge Charger this past week. I highly recommend them.
Mark and Cindy take the time to listen and give good advice. Honest and reliable. Excellent work.
A great honest mechanic!
What an AMAZING shop! Talk about reliable and honest! Im always skeptical, like most people are when it comes to auto shops because you never know what you will be billed or get ripped off! That is NOT the case here with General Transmission. Mark was transparent the whole way through with cost of labor and parts. He tells you everything and is pretty honest about what it takes. The job was done well and it was done in less time than I had expected. Mark is very reliable and trustworthy. My car runs better now than before I took it into his shop. I know for a fact, Mark will be my auto mechanic. And by the way, he does more than just transmission. This is a GREAT company!!!
Scheduled an appointment in a timely manner, very upfront and straightforward. Bought a new car with a lot of miles on it and had them test drive it to see how the transmission felt and if they believed any work would need to be done. Dropped the car off at 9AM and had it back by noon, told me she was running strong and the test drive was free of charge. I look forward to bringing my cars here for future maintenance.
Done lots of business over the last 40 + years, great locally owned, operated shop. The crew is a family of long term skilled transmission technicians. Honest work at a reasonable rate. Certainly not the cheapest, but when your building high tech newer transmissions, you want guys that are the best in the trade.
I called Wednesday to schedule an appointment for my trans and rear diff to be flushed(300). They dont schedule appointments but bring it in monday morning at 9am we will work it into the rotation should have it done by 530. I explain its my personal/work truck and i have work scheduled all week, they say they wont tear it apart unless they know they can have it done for sure. Great. I get there at 950am (my bad, but its not like i had an appointment) power steering is probably going can you do that to (sure well figure it out if we have time) and its shifting hard maybe have a estimate for what it will cost to fix all the way, again if theres time. I get a call at 3pm, we didnt get to it, were not gonna get to it this is your courtesy call. No attempt to reschedule or well try to get it done tomorrow, just kinda come get it. I got there they were courteous and sorta apologetic. Im out 350 for work lossed tomorrow because i have to cancel my appointment bite the bullet and go to aamco(420 for trans=120xtra). They did what they said they would and i give them that. But a transmission shop that cant flush a tranny in a day with 4 days notice? Then he says whats wrong with it that you cant just drive it to work tomorrow? That was my experience there.
Great people, great follow thru. Just got it back home. Seems to shift better than it ever has. Hoping for 80k to 100k of trouble free miles from this truck
Excellent communication, impeccable work, fair and honest pricing. Highly recommend this family owned and operated business. Mark will not steer you wrong!
I had several great experiences with General transmission the first car they worked on they towed in for free and after it was done when a minor problem occurred they fixed it immediately under warranty on the second car I got a serious price break as a return customer on the third car the fix was so minor that I wasnt even charged highly recommended honest and fair if you need a transmission job done this is where you should take your car
I have had the most pleasant experience one could have regarding auto repair. I brought my car in for what I believed to be a major transmission repair costing several thousand dollars. After leaving my car with Mark the proprietor to perform an inspection. I received the good news that what was needed is minor repair thus saving me a great deal of money. I cannot rate Mark and Cindy high enough. They are a 5+. I will recommend them to anyone who may need auto repair.
Was a little disappointed with this place after my car broke down nearby I didnt know where to go ...so the night before they just towed me to this place ...and since Im traveling I just slept in the back of my van for the night.. the mechanic arrived around 7:40 in the morning with Def Leppard playing on his motorcycle ...he said the owner would be there in a little while ..the owner arrived and he kind of treated like I was some kind of homeless person living in my van... theres a big difference between a person who is a derelict or addict etc living in a van versus somebody who occasionally sleeps in the van as a matter of economic survival... this does NOT mean the person is flat broke and cant pay his bills .. and so when Im traveling sometimes I sleep in my van to save money because why should I pay for a hotel if Im only going to be sleeping 3 or 4 hours that night and and when youre traveling youre filling up your tank 2 or 3 times per day ...its NOT a free ride ... I was planning to go up to Alaska or if that didnt work out because theres some issues at the border because of covid-19 I would continue Eastward along the canadian-american border on the road called The Hi-Line . Im a Christian evangelist and also I enjoy sightseeing and going to National Parks etc and I wanted to see Glacier National Park in Montana which is near Kalispell where a friend of mine also lives and then I would continue to do my Christian evangelism and Ministry as I drive . Ive been doing this for many years and most people know that Christian evangelism and Ministry is NOT a big money-making business and so I try to live as frugally as possible but that does not mean I dont pay my bills or my taxes otherwise Id be in jail or literally homeless living in a tent somewhere and thats not the case. I live a very responsible lifestyle for the sake of the kingdom of heaven ...so anyways Im here this morning hoping that this guy can fix whatever the problem is and his initial assessment is that its the fuel pump but as it would turn out everybody jumped to a conclusion way too fast that its a fuel pump problem... in fact a day later I would find out its just a matter of cleaning the mass airflow sensor which sometimes has the same symptoms as a faulty fuel pump... but Ill keep the story short ... since he was being somewhat condescending towards me ...I just decided Ill go somewhere else ..he wanted to take me to a place that would charge $1,000 for a new fuel pump even without any other Diagnostics... Im glad I didnt do that because as it turned out it did NOT need a new fuel pump ...only the cleaning of the mass airflow sensor at the Ford dealership for $75... which is still too much but a lot better than $1000 etc. When people are traveling and they have an unfortunate situation ...to try to take advantage of that situation is unconscionable 👎
We took our 2001 Volvo Cross Country to Mark for evaluation. He explained what had to be done and that is was not going to be cheap. He assured me that when they got it done it would be like new. We let him have it. They took it apart and explained what they were doing all the way. Everyone it the place was nice and glad to explain what they were doing. Did you ever see a Volvo transmission on the bench?!! Amazing! We also had an ABS brake light on and Mark figured that out. It was a small motor I picked up used for $100 instead of the $1600 quoted from Volvo. While the car was apart, Mark told me to replace some steering parts, which I bought online and took to them. It drives like new. They did a great job and kept me informed every step of the way. It was not cheap but I feel I got value for what I spent. At least Im not making car payments.
We have had several cars worked on at General Transmission. I appreciate Mark so very much and also the rest of the employees. Its hard sometimes if you have a car that seems to be a money pit, however, I believe in the integrity of this company and its employees. They have ALWAYS stood by their warranties and that really means a lot to me. Word of mouth goes a long way--good or bad. So, this word of mouth is GOOD. Thanks, General Transmission!
Nice people, but they wanted me to pay around $2,000 just to pull out my transmission and see if thats what was wrong with my car. They didnt even know for sure if that was it. After that, I would have had to pay even more IF they were right. Ended up going to a Chevy dealer instead and they found out it was something else. Something much cheaper to fix.I wouldnt recommend going here unless you already know for sure whats wrong with your car and if youre willing to pay A LOT. I also find it kind of weird that, from what Ive seen in other reviews, other customers that went here either had to pay more or less than what I would have for the same amount of work.
Mark and Cindy at General Transmission are wonderful. In October of 2016 I took my Volvo S60R to have the transmission fixed. Mark fixed my transmission and even dealt with the aftermarket warranty company which was a nightmare to work with. Mark was honest and kept me informed the whole time. In June of 2017 an issue arose and Mark did not hesitate to take the car back and honor the warranty. My car now drives better than ever. I would give this place 10 stars if I could.
I stopped in not knowing what the problem was with my 2001 BMW X5 -- I just knew it sounded bad and everyone had been telling me time for a new car knowing the expense would be huge. My family loves that car though so I stopped in to see Mark.Mark was so helpful from his diagnostic where he quickly identified that it was not the transmission but rather the ignition Coils & Spark Plugs which he fixed super affordably. He kept me in the loop from start to finish and even called me as a follow-up to make sure I was pleased with the work that was done. Very high integrity, professional and personal. It felt like a friend looking after my best interest. My BMW drives practically like new again and I couldnt be more pleased! Thanks Mark and your team for a job well done. It was a great all around experience!
Mark did an amazing job and went above and beyond what I expected. Not only did he fix the transmission he also got a few other small odds and ends done and pointed out two other problems that he couldnt do but that needed attention. I really hope I dont need to use him again, but if I do, Ill defiantly be going to him.
Good people. Good repair shop
Mark is a real stand up guy thank you for going the extra mile
I read the reviews for this company before giving them a call to pick up my mini van which suddenly started having transmission problems. To say I am disappointed is an understatement. Mark quoted me $5000 to rebuild my transmission which to me was outrageous. I decided the van wasnt worth fixing so I told him I would have a tow truck pick it up and tow it to a dealership. Suddenly he had a better offer of $3700 for a used transmission he found. I decided there was no way I was doing business with his company and said no. I asked how much I owed and he told me 1/2 the labor quoted plus tax and he would put my transmission in a box in the back of my van. So he expected me to pay around $1200 for just telling me my transmission was shot and it wasnt even put back in the van, but in a box. Horrible experience to say the least. Dont go to this company unless you dont mind being gouged.
Great shop. Mark honors his warranty and his guys do good work. Thanks Mark!
One of the best mechanics in the biz. These guys are top notch.
Over the years I have used General Transmission for all my transmission issues.I was recommended to General by my Father who also had great service. I am having my third truck transmission worked on here. The first one (a Bronco) I had previously taken to another shop and two years later had tranny problems again. Took it to General and the tranny repair they did outlasted the engine. Of course I took my sons Explorer in next, when it wouldnt shift, with great results. They even fixed the 4 wheel drive that had never worked properly. When my F250 had issues that is the first place I called. Excellent service. Very trustworthy and honest which is a plus as I am 50+ female that has been taken. advantage of by other auto shops.
Mark is fair honest and a good dude, he will fix what needs to be fixed and not try to hack up the bill on you.
Wish i had never had work done on my vehicle here and wish i could give this place -5 stars. the owner, Mark took my car hostage and overcharged me by $3000 of what he quoted for a transmission repair. it now is just over the 12,000 mile warranty limitation that I was given and the transmission is once again out!. Mark guaranteed me that I would be thanking him years from now for the great repair of the tranny, It has been 9 months and its shot. DO NOT DO BUSINESS with this reapir shop especially if youre a woman. Also, Mark does not test well. He returned my car several days after he said he would and then the next morning it wouldnt start. I had to beg him to come get the car that day and tow it back to his shop. He expected me to wait until he had more time. I will NEVER do business with him again and I will tell everyone else about his horrible business practices and the fact that his repairs do not last
I have owned over 70 cars in 30 years, the first one I took to Mark (FIAT) was in 1989 when he had his shop at his house. Mark has been taking care of my vehicles ever since, dozens of them, including family members.
Highly recommend Mark at general transmission
FAMILY RAN & OWNED AWESOME SERVICE
I might have visited for my car fixing but I dont know any problems with them for not giving them high five.
