I want to start by saying, my stylist Julie did a great job. She listened to my feedback and cut my hair the way I wanted. It took some communicating and a little help from the supervisor there, but my haircut turned out great. They were really friendly and cared about making sure I was happy with my cut.However, there is one thing you should keep in mind. Have them repeat and specify the cost of the haircut to you before you begin. I have super short boy cut hair. It had gotten shaggy so I needed to cut it, but it was still super short hair. Their price ranges from $32-$54 for women, and when I called ahead of time and asked about how much it would cost for me with how short my hair already was, they said $32. When I came into the salon, they didnt indicate any change in price, no mention of the price. After the haircut I go to pay and they said it was $43. Just in case, I asked about it to see if I was maybe charged extra for the shampoo or something, and I said I thought it was $32. But they said that the price was a range and it was $43 for a short cut. In my receipt it even says short cut. What with how super short my hair already was coming in, Im not really sure whose hair would even qualify for that $32 then. It threw me off that I was charged $11 more than what they told me on the phone, and they didnt bother to tell me at any point of this change until I was paying. It rubbed me the wrong way, particularly that they didnt at least tell me.Once again, I love my cut, and they were friendly and took care of me. The supervisor was great about checking in and assuring everything was good. I paid the increased amount and tipped 20% like I always would. I do recommend this place. I just also recommend having them specify the price for you not just on the phone but before your haircut as well.

I honestly love Jl’art salon. I have not been anywhere else since i found Jenny. I have long, thick frizzy hair and i was always struggling to keep them manageable. I had my keratin treatment last February and exclusively used the products Jenny suggested. Ever since my hair texture has changed so much, my hair are not really frizzy, they are soft and hydrated and for the first time i feel so good to wear my natural hair without any heat. So happy to found them!

Hands down, the most professional, muti services, know what they are doing and clean salon I have ever been to. Ask for KAITLYNN ELLIS. In the 30 plus years I have had my hair done, Ive never been so happy with my hair ever!! She explained everything first. They it deal in organic products that are good for your hair.

We wanted to try a new salon as the one I’ve always gone to is far ever since we moved. We were GREATLY disappointed. The technicians work were horrible. I went in for a pedi and manicure, worst I’ve ever had. Toe nails were all cut differently even though I asked for squared. All technicians kept pushing for shellac even though I had already discussed in detail with the manager, Karen, that I wanted regular nail polish. I opted out of hot stones and paraffin wax and instead agreed to a longer foot massage, 20min total. The tech set a timer but got up midway to get more material and finished before the 20min. When it was time for manicure I started with one technician, then another took over, then the previous one took over. I was still left with cuticle and the actual painting was horrible. The technician who painted the nails added 4 coats to one hand!! I chose OPI Bubble Bath bc it’s a sheer soft color yet she added several coats to make it “darker”. I paid for a shoulder massage which was useless. The tech started with NO lotion or oil and pushed so hard into my neck that she pulled my hair to which I said “ouch” and asked if she had lotion or oil for massage?? She then went and got lotion. Who the hec does a massage without lotion/oil?!! She too finished before the timer went off. It appeared they were short on technicians as well so my 6 year old daughter waited almost an hr in the chair before someone came and started painting her nails. She was left very sad waiting while saw myself and my eldest daughter getting our services. I pressed the call “button” for Karen to come to which she never did. Some time passed before my eldest asked the technicians to call Karen and they instructed her to push the call “button” which she did, but she didn’t come. She came after a tech had already started on my little one. Never addressed the “calls” we made. At the end I addressed that I was unhappy with the quality of mani/pedi. Karen did offer for me to go back but I told her that I would have to wait for my toe nails to grow. No surprise we will NOT be returning. I will make the drive to my usual place.

I LOVE coming to J L Art for all my salon needs! Ive gone twice now for a facial from Tu, and once for a haircut. I received really nice treatment all the times that I have gone. Everyone was very friendly, professional, and made my self-care experiences worth the reward and cost.

I just received my color done by amber at this salon. I totally love my new hair. i love the products they use. the place is so clean and they have snack bar with mix drink. I also got my refill done by Yadi and she did some 3D art work on my nail. one stop shop for sure!

On October 22nd, I went to color my hair purple because I had been recommended to this salon by a friend. I made my appt with Stephanie but for my consultation she was working on another client so Jenny took me. I should have taken this as a red flag because the person doing your hair should definitely be the one to look at it and give you the consultation. She said the process would take 8 hours and then a few days later I came in to actually do the process. There was miscommunication from the get-go because Jenny told Stephanie my hair was short and it is so clearly not short, it is more medium-long and then Jenny did not tell Stephanie it was going to be 8 hours(but she had told me) because Stephanie had another appt in the middle of mine and another stylist had to take them. Another problem was that they were about to move locations so they had packed up the color and Stephanie could not find more purple. So she had to make do with just a little bit and hoped it would be dark enough. When I got done that night my hair was bright magenta and not AT ALL what I wanted. Not to mention I wanted more of a smoky purple but because of the circumstances with the color, she said it wasn’t going to happen. I had to come back the next day (no one wants to do that) to fix the color and it became a really plum color. On top of this, I didn’t get it styled or anything because Jenny was supposed to do my hair the second day to fix it but she left it to Stephanie instead which was really unprofessional and Stephanie wasn’t planning on stayed until past 8 to do my hair but she had no choice. So I settled for straight hair which isn’t even my preference and my hair felt so gross and not healthy at all. It was soooo coarse and the smell of the products is so overwhelming even after a few times of washing it, the smell would not come off. After maybe 3 times of washing it, it turned a little grey and I will insert photos. This was surprising because Stephanie said the new color they put in the second day was a semi-permanent so the color would last longer. I asked Stephanie if I could even a little bit of my money back but she told me Jenny doesn’t do that and would fire me as a client (ok go ahead, I’m not coming back)

This place is ahhhhmazing! Jennie and her crew of girls are too notch! I super love the attention that my hair, and lashes get here! You leave here feeling feather light, with a million bucks look on you! 😂😝

Ive been seeing Princess for lash extensions and removal for a while now and she is always so nice and gentle when shes applying the extensions. She took great care of me, especially my eyelashes. The stuff she uses for lash removal smells really nice and is organic so no harm done to me or my eyes! Would recommend 10/10 to have her do your lashes. They always turn out so beautifully well done.

I have been using this salon since I was 15 (I’m 18 now so 3 years of consistency) and I always love it!!! I have used various stylists in the past and I am always pleased. I have gotten manicures and pedicures also which is nice because I can get my hair and nails done at the same time. This salon has an amazing environment!!! They work as a team to help make your hair look how you want. Everyone is so positive and kind. They always ask me about my life and remember the small details. They recently moved locations and I’m in love with the new layout. The new place has so much natural light and it’s so cute. The past few months I’ve been going to the stylist Cassie and she is AMAZING!!!!! She is so sweet and has made my hair awesome. I get so many compliments on it! They don’t use heat on my hair at all for the balayage, so my hair isn’t damaged looking! I’ve always had great experiences at this salon and I would recommend to everyone! They will make sure your hair stays healthy and will provide you a great experience!

I came to this salon to get my hair done professionally for the first time ever and they took care of me so well! The place is very clean and they take extra caution while checking you in. I moved to Houston very recently and it’s clear why everyone I’ve come in contact with has recommended this salon!!!I was a bit hesitant to get my extensions redone as I wasn’t sure how they would turn out, having never been into the salon before. I’m a harsh critic when it comes to my hair, and I have to say.... I was absolutely blown away from my consultation to the end result! Jenny (the owner) is extremely knowledgeable and took the time to explain the entire process to me from ordering my extensions to how she planned to install them so it would look extremely natural. Throughout my appointment since it took many hours to complete, we got to know each other on a personal level. It felt so nice to actually have a conversation and I can now consider her friend and not just the lady that does my hair.If you’re new to the area or have never been to this salon, I can’t recommend it enough. The entire staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and experienced. I’ve been to countless salons in my lifetime and can also really appreciate how they go through pricing thoroughly before beginning the service so there are no surprise charges! Ive been getting my hair cut with Kaitlynn for over a year, and Im always so pleased with my experience and results! Shes an extremely talented stylist, and before finding this salon I never really went any salon more than once. The prices are fair, and the environment is professional, clean, and fun. My husband just had his first cut with Elizabeth, and hes very particular with his hair, and for once he was 100% satisfied with his cut and results! Were now both dedicated customers, and would recommend this salon to anyone.

The girl said it would be up to Jenny and didnt give me any price range. Well, Jenny charged me $75 for this appointment ... for simple layers and framing. Thats $25 price increase in less than a year! Fortunately for me, I can afford a $75 haircut, so as long as the stylist doesnt mess up with my hair and the cut is at least decent, its fine.I got a haircut from Jenny again recently. I wanted bangs and long layers in the back. Since my hair is almost at the waist, I told her to cut off as much as she needed to remove the coarse ends which would have been 2 inches at the most. I also showed her a picture of the kind of bangs I wanted. Well, the result: uneven length of bangs that looks nothing like whats on the inspiration photo. As for the back, you would think I never got a haircut because you cant see any layers or changes because all she did was basically trim it. To top it all off? Jenny charged me $81 (before tips). Thats $81 for a bangs and trim, people! Now I dont mind paying that much if the service is exceptional and if I got what I wanted. I had paid a little bit more for a haircut at a posh salon in River Oaks a few months prior. But that service was A+ and included a cup of fresh-brewed coffee, in a very nice location, and I left feeling like a celebrity after the appointment... But $81 from a hair salon behind a gas station on Kingsland? Where the stylist/owner you booked the appointment with thinks shes too good to wash, blow dry and style your hair so she just tells a trainee to do it? No, thank you! Ill look somewhere else. I could not even get a Thank You from the receptionist who collected the payment. I stood there waiting for the receipt that she never issued because she was too busy looking at her phone. She did not even notice that I already left.I think the good reviews have gone up to Jennys head, and I think she needs a receptionist who knows better customer service and phone etiquette.

I recently went to check this salon in Katy and tried the facial and it was very relaxing and made me glow nicely afterwards. Tu the esthetician gave me a cleaning facial with a jelly mask that was very hydrating and cooling to calm my skin. I would definitely go back and try the other facial regimens they have. The organic line is a big plus! I highly recommend you check out this spot and will try hair coloring here.

I went here first time by seeing the reviews, that’s my mistake.Stylist name is Cassie I asked her to do layers cut which is very easy to do as most of the stylists they do very soon and professional but she doesn’t know how to style the hair she did very horrible cut and style . I scheduled a Hydrafacial and a pedicure after as a birthday gift to myself. My skin came out feeling soft and clean!!! Tu was my esthetician and she asked about my skincare concerns to better plan products/facial that would combat those issues. It felt super personal and relaxing. Amy gave me my pedicure right after, she did an amazing job! The receptionist took me on a small tour after checking in and the owner Jenny would ask how everything was going and if there’s anything I would like. The facility is clean and sanitize with QR code menus and hand sanitizers everywhere. I just booked another pamper session in December!

I moved to Texas and it took me over a year to find a salon I trust and like. I have been getting my hair colored since high school and I have always done different colors, cuts, and styles that my stylist back home was great at. I was completely blown away by the job they did though !! Jenny, the owner and I hope I spelled her name right, is so sweet and outgoing and funny, she can talk to you about anything. Cassie did my hair and I have never gotten exactly the color I was anticipating until she did it ! I was in awe. Van, the owners mom, did my mani pedi and she is just as sweet as Jenny and incredibly creative. I had never got designs on my nails because I didnt think a nail tech could get what i wanted so perfect, but of course she did. Sorry for the novel but this place is a solid 10000/10. The people, the ambiance, the experience, the products they use, absolutely everything is top of the line and you feel like youre just there hanging out having a good time. Youll never find another spot like this.

I have wavy to curly thick long Indian hair, and got it cut from around my waist to a bob. Jenny really took her time perfecting the edges and making sure I was completely satisfied with it. The shampooing was so relaxing and I ended up buying the leave in conditioner bc it made my hair so smooth (the hair milk has a lot of fragrance; if youre skin is sensitive to fragrance, dont use this)I also wear a hijab and the salon was very accommodating about offering a room in the back and then bringing me to the front once their male clients and hair stylists had left.Finally I brought an entourage of three friends and we all got lattes on the house which was an unexpected plus. Loved my experience, would definitely do it again!

I looooove this salon! Jenny is absolutely amazing! I dread haircuts, but since finding Jenny I look forward to my appointments. She does wonders to my hair! She does exactly what I ask for, and better. A pair of scissors in her hands does magical things! Everyone at this salon is so friendly, and the experience you get from beginning to end is so nice. The hair washing area is so soothing and relaxing, I always get a good nap in. They use great products, and give excellent advice in not only styling your hair but also caring for it. I had a day off from my crazy schedule and I dropped in here to get my hair trimmed. They greeted me with friendly smiles and saw me immediately. I had my hair trimmed and shampooed (which was very relaxing) and asked about having my eyebrows done last minute. I was in and out of there, without being rushed, in not time. I color my hair often and their products are vegan! I will definitely be going back. Thanks ladies!

Where do I start, upon walking in I automatically felt welcomed and was immediately sat down for a consult. After a few minutes of discussion I was told the price of the service upfront, I wanted balayage from my dark brown hair all the way down to an ash color at the ends, they quoted me $270 for my collar bone length hair, which is pricey but in the end it was really worth it, you truly get what you pay for. I had Eliana do my hair and she did an amazing job, she is super sweet and made me feel very relaxed the entire time. Every one of their employees were very sweet and welcoming, this was a big change to my hair and they all made sure I felt the best I could walking out. If you want quality this is the place!

I’ve been with both Lynda (before she moved salons) and now with Kaitlin and I’ve loved them both! I ended up moving an hour into Houston and when thinking about deciding if I should switch salons realizing that I just couldn’t part with jlart! Between the amazing atmosphere (due in part by a very smart child free policy) and the consistent quality work done here, it’ll take me moving states to get me to part with this salon.

Something I miss BIG time right now while being at home....seeing Jenny and her amazing staff and being spoiled! But even while she is being forced to close during this time, she still has us covered with her amazing products still available for purchase and delivery! She uses nothing but the best products (davines and kul cbd) and I live by them for my hair and skincare needs!Make sure when life is back to normal to go get a CBD facial using the KUL line....it is amazing! I’ve done it 3 times now and she just keeps adding to the service and improving it for relaxation to the max! It is wonderful!

Way too expensive for no good reason, nothing special about this place. If your going to charge that much u better be promising amazing results. Paid $400 for a supposedly ombré color, but that’s not what I got. I got grey colored ends. There was no fading from top to bottom. She pulled the hell out of my hair the whole time and said I was tender headed. I had the worse headache after leaving there. They said their products would not damage my hair but it did, which I expect with any hair coloring but my hair was not much different from when I went in. I thought since the owner was doing my hair I was going to end up with something nice, but I didn’t. She was also very unprofessional and was screaming across the room the whole 5 hours I was there, so rude to her employees and how she talked about them when they weren’t listening. I regret going to this place so much. I literally just handed over $400 to this lady. Oh and they also ask for a tip as if $400 isn’t enough!!!

That place is wonderful made me feel very comfortable ... the work that Eli did was excellent worth every minute.... ❤

I have been going to this establishment for a little over a year now. My natural hair color is a dark brown. I had decided to do something I had never done before, balayage my hair pink. I knew it would be a process to achieve this goal and I was so appreciative with the realistic expectations they provided (this is chemistry we are dealing with, after all.) I also really like the fact they use all vegan products (ie not NEARLY as damaging to my hair.) Considering all the work needed for my hair to achieve this dream of having wine pink hair and the quality J LArt Salon provided, I consider the pricing adequate and very fair. Also, as a mother myself, I appreciate the fact that this is a child-free environment (it is posted on their front door and website.) Others may find this a bit offputting, but when that little time at the salon is the only time you can get a break from the busy and never ending job of being a mom, it is so nice to be able to take a break from all that. Definitely a 5 star establishment.

Jenny saved my hair. My previous stylist was overlapping my bleach and I was having major breakage. I found Jenny by pure luck as went into her salon to buy the Davines products I have loved for years. Met her and learned she specializes in all over bleach. I have been seeing her now for 15 months and went from stringy broken hair near my scalp, I now have thick healthy hair to my shoulders and the blonde color is perfect. I am so happy to have found someone that can bleach hair and keep it healthy as foil highlights was not blonde enough for me. Have been hesitant to write this review as was waiting for my hair to grow and selfishly want to keep this salon to myself. If you want to go blonde and keep your hair go see her!

I moved recently from a different country. Finding the right person to take care of asian colored hair is not a simple task. Jenny and her team does a great job of understanding your needs and making them real! Special highlight of this place is natural italian Davines cosmetics Jenny works with. If you are in any doubt come for free consultation and youll stay there forever as I did.

The only reason I am giving this salon and 1 star review is because of the attached “Dolled Up” business I frequent within the salon. Positive things first, Nina (my lash expert) is amazing! I will be leaving a separate 5 star review for her and the Dolled Up business, however, I can not recommend the J’Art Salon itself. Upon entering the salon with my daughter, I was informed that children are not welcome. This was unwelcome and previously unexplained news to me, since I had brought my daughter with me to sit while I got my eyelashes done. There is a sign on the door stating this policy. The sign also states that children are only welcome if they are receiving a service. After getting into a heated conversation with the owner about this policy, I was informed that the rule exists to provide patrons with a relaxing environment. Upon further questioning, the owner admitted that in the past, children had been running around the salon stealing the hairdressers scissors. I assured the owner that my child would be sitting with me throughout the entirety of my service and would not be out of my sight. This was not good enough for her, so I offered to pay for a service for my child so that she could stay in the building. At the mention of this, the owner told me that since I was so frustrated that she did not want to provide ANY services for my daughter or I! My daughter then got upset and started to cry at the prospect of being thrown out of the establishment. I then told the owner that her policy, in this instance, made no sense. If my daughter were to receive a service, I would be in a different room behind a closed door away from my unattended child instead of her sitting next to me attended. This would not be a “relaxing” situation since my 6 year old would be away from me, out of my sight. After calming the owner down by telling her what she wanted to hear and that I would not be leaving, she agreed to let her employees babysit my child for $30 while polishing her nails. I had a nerve racking experience while getting my eyelashes done because I was worried about my unattended child. Despite Nina’s excellent service, I am disappointed with this salon and it’s policy. Having rules for rules sake and not judging each situation on a case by case basis serves only to turn away lots of customers, which the owner actually said was OK with her upon mention of this fact. If it weren’t for Nina and the excellent service she provides, I would not return to this establishment. The owner needs to take a hard look at her policy and how she treats her customers. This was a very awkward and off putting experience.**After posting this review, the owner responded and proceeded to try and justify her actions and make me look like a trouble maker. She then banned me from the property. Unfortunately, this goes to show the level of immaturity and the lack of professionalism on the part of the owner. Upon further review of their “reviews” I have confirmed that a large number of the positive reviews come from the owners personal friends and family members. Hardly unbiased in my opinion. Cheap tricks from an overpriced establishment.

This is an amazing place. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and my haircut was exceptional.
