He is an artist! Has repaired/several shoes for me. Great prices and quick. Also honest. Took him a pair this week and he suggested I not make the changes I wanted because it may compromise the integrity of the shoe.
Did a great job! Very happy with the repair.Definitely recommend them!!

If you need your shoes repaired or brought back to the same condition as you bought them, you must visit Ruben at Vidal’s shoe repair. Stupendous service. He’s a gentleman, and takes care of you like family. His work is truly art, and his work is worth every dollar you pay. I would recommend him to anyone that needs work done to their shoes, from leather to suede, he will get them right!
Mr. Vidal is very experienced and knowledgeable. He restored a purse for me that had a lot of sentimental value in a very timely manner. I would highly recommend his work!
A friend referred me. It has been a few years now and I cant say anything but he is a gentleman and he is up front about what can be done and what cant be done. He is quite the artist, even making shoes. His story is good. I have not been disappointed. I am 6; wear a size 11 and sometimes there is a little stretching needed or even recreate the wheel and Mr. Vidal has been able to do just that. I live quite far away (not out of town) but it is worth the ride each time.
Solid no. Brought in a pair of suede sandals with a broken buckle. Owner said they couldnt be repaired. When I suggested how I thought they could possibly be repaired, he blew up. Literally yelled that hes been doing this X number of years, hes the expert. Grabbed my shoes and split. Googled shoe repair and took them to Jacobs Tailor. They fixed them in 2 days for $13. And they are perfect!
He has done good work on my boots, a true master of his craft. You know when you walk in and see a pair of shoes Vidal made by hand that the repair will be done right.
Took my Ferragamo belt in after 5 yrs of owning it. Very content with the results
Dont waste your time! My girlfriend brought her boots in because the soles were coming off. He told us they should be ready in a week or two. That was in early September. We didnt hear anything in November so we stopped in. He said again a week or two. She called today(Dec 27th) he said hes been very busy and he will get them done today. He closes at 2. Its 4:15 now. No phone call. Ive never written a review before. Very unprofessional. Stay away.
I had two pair of dress shoes repaired and reconditioned. The shoes were a pair of Johnston & Murphy dress boots and a pair of Bostonian dress shoes-both needed new hard soles sewn on (not just glued), new heels and the leather cleaned up. The owner charged me a very fair and reasonable rate and had both pair of shoes done in just a couple days. I am extremely satisfied with the quality and workmanship of the repair and would highly recommend this shop to anyone.
Ruben Vidal is a true artist. There is no better way to explain his talent and skills. I am only in KC for 2 days on business - oil from a salad dressing dropped on my $500 dress shoes during dinner. I didnt notice until the next day, I thought my shoes were done for. I found Rubens shop online and read some of the reviews here and decided to take a chance. Not only did Rueben help me out right away but the job he did was phenomenal and I was awestruck with his skill. My shoes look as good as they did when they were brand new (they are 3 years old)! I was blown away by not only his skill but by the passion Ruben has for his work. He is truly a great man and a great artist and I appreciate the time he took to save my shoes and demonstrate his true craftsmanship and artistry. Next time Im back in KC Im bringing my other shoes to him!!
Excellent work on replacing the zipper on my Dooney Bourke purse. Extremely nice folks and reasonable cost. I highly recommend Vidals for repairs. Thanks Vidals!!!
After my dog ate the back off my NEVER WORN Toms, Vidals fixed it to perfection! Completed in one day! Job well done. Would definitely go back!
Hard to find old world craftsmanship, I have had him repair my wifes shoes and boots from time to time, he alway does very good work.
The owner is just as the previous reviews describe it, genuine, friendly and is a master at his craft! I had a pair of Sperrys that my dog chewed up and was curious if anything could be done to it. When I got the the shoes back I was very very very impressed with his work and couldnt even tell which shoe was the one he had worked on. I would recommend this to anyone!
I took a pretty rough looking pair of boots to the shop. The plastic heals were shattered and the leather was dull, scratched, and water-spotted. They were returned to me upon pickup looking absolutely terrific! The new heals looked great--the quality appears much better than what had been there and the leather wrap around the heal was repaired or replaced. The boot leather was rich and gleaming. Nearly good as new! Would definitely recommend.
I highly recommend Vidals Shoe Repair for the quality workmanship, professional service and attention to detail. His skills are top notch! I couldnt find any laces in the area that would fit my Chukkas until I called his location. This was my second visit to his store and it will not be my last!
Great place, friendly owner. Went out of his way to help me and make sure I got what I needed.
Got a new puppy and of course, she chewed on my favorite shoes. Took them to Vidal and he made them look new! 2 weeks later I was back and the dog had found them again. When I walked in, Vidal told me I had trained my dog perfectly! lol This time I didnt think they would be able to be repaired. He repaired the shoes and you still could not tell where the dog had chewed away half of the top of the shoe. He really knows his business and I would not hesitate to take any challenge to him! Thanks Vidal!
He is amazing. Turned a cruddy old pair of cowboy boots into better than brand new. He repaired an expensive purse - looks GREAT. He makes shoes too! Awesome, highly recommended.
He took a little while to do my boots, but seemed very knowledgeable. When I got my old boots back it was way above and beyond my expectations. He was far less expensive than the work he does, I would strongly recommend this place.
I took a pair of my husbands beat up boots that I believed to be beyond repair and OMG they came back looking Fabulous!!! Great job, and my husband was impressed that the boots came back looking like new.I have returned to repair the heels on a couple pairs of my shoes as well as repairing some straps on some much loved purses. So happy I found this place.
Boots look better than I expect EVERY time. Ive been going to Vidal for years now, always a great job.
Clearly very knowledgable and capable. I have now turned to Vidal to take care of any leather, boot, or shoe issues that we have. We are new to Vidals and are continuely taking stuff to him now and have always felt as if we get our moneys worth and the highest quality of workmanship.
Master vidal has put a 2 3/4 lift on 3 of my mothers right shoes plus other repairs. He is a true craftsman. We are fortunate to have him in our community.
This post is worth reading!.... ( Part 1 )I luv, luv, Luv... Mr... Vidal!.... Let me start with the man....Mr. Vidal is such a gentle Gentleman, whom not only repair shoes and boots but also design footwear. His passion for his gift is clearly FELT and SEEN! Mr. Vidal is also a painter of natural scenery. (Beautiful wall art). Some of his artwork hang in his repair shop as well as one of his created mens boot.Mr. Vidal have a lot of reflective stories to share about his life and his work while being very attentive to my repair needs, even issues that I didnt know I had.Our reason for going to Vidal Shoe Repair.....I am a short heavy-set woman with a late-in-life desire to wear a pair of expensive, knee high, black suede, stilletto boots with gray fox fur going down the front. The problem is, I have large calves AND my feet swell up ( having edema ). The place that I purchased my boots from did not have my size in a wide calf. I needed a repair shop that have experience with making the boot shaft wider without destroying the integrity of my brand new sexy strutters.I searched out and read many shop reviews narrowing down to Vidal Shoe Repair. Although I did not see any review stating the exact work I needed to have done, I felt comfortable with the experiences others had with this shop, so here my husband and I ventured. ( BTW, we live in Texas but Vidals is in Kansas! )Mr. Vidal first repaired the silver plated tap on my hubbys western boot while we were there. He informed my husband that the type of nail that was originally used for the type of sole was sure to come out again.( Now we know what to look for when selecting western boots. )It was my turn.... Mr. Vidal asked me of my issue. Then he asked me about just ordering a different size boot, thereby checking my surity of having my boot altered. Once he heard me, he then quoted his price which was very acceptable. He had me try on one boot. As I did, Vidal noticed 1) that even after he widen the shaft, I will still have a problem with the boot folding over when I sat down or bend my knee. To fix this issue he said he would have to cut a U shape at the back of the knee joint along with cutting a V shape to extend below the U shape to make a wedge so the boot will fit my calves. I off-handedly told him one day I hope to be able to wear my pantleg inside my boots, (didnt think he heard me). He said he was going to use the exact same material so my boot will keep its integrity. He then scetched out his plan on paper for us to make sure that I understood what my boots will look like when completed.** Theres Part 2 but google isnt letting me complete my satifactory experience! **
Great job on my leather repair.
I got my heels taken down a bit. The shoe turned out nice. The heels were a bit scuffed when I picked them up.
The owner is just a genius on shoe repairing. I came down his shop to get a pair of beat-up boots repaired with no hope and this guy made them look just like new. Highly recommended.
They’re very friendly and do great work
The people there are very nice and do great work.
Incredible attention to detail. A true craftsman and professional.
