I have been an executive level member for a long time and you choice of vehicles in the executive area is poor at best. There is nothing there that is not is the other areas. My last 3 trips and rentals have all been the same so very frustrating to even try to keep up my status when I have other options.
Wonderful experience with NATIONAL CAR RENTAL. Parker was the employee that helped us at th return center and he was super friendly and nice. The car was very nice, we had a RAV4 and it performed very well.We will rent our next vehicle from NATIONAL CAR RENTAL.
I arrived later than my car reservation and I didn’t directly walk out to pick a car, but got in line for personal service. The counter service person was efficient and polite. I asked to confirm the availability of the size of my car and he walked out with me to assure they had a proper sized car ( I traveled with a party of five and luggage). He quickly assessed the car lot and immediately upgraded me from a Mid-size SUV (my reservation, but no inventory) to a larger car.The car was clean, in an excellent working condition, pick up and drop off was seamless.
National has been my go to for many years while traveling for business. Making reservations in the app is very easy. Passing the line and going straight to a vehicle is one of the biggest reasons I joined the Emerald Club years ago.On the not so good side- lately I do not see the level of cleanliness I had seen in past years. I would like to see cleaner vehicles and a tag stating they had been sanitized to the best of their ability.Other than that, great place to rent a vehicle and highly recommend.
I was told I was getting a hybrid car but instead was given a full electric car. Traveling all over rural NY where charging stations are scarce, I really struggled with this vehicle. I did not have the option to exchange it since I was in town for work and the closest National was only open during hours I was at work. When I submitted this complaint, I was told that it would not happen again. That did not justify my experience of having to Uber to and from grocery store parking lots to utilize their charging stations.
Experience with National was fantastic.They had someone great and direct me to which cars I could choose.The car was on the newer side with less than 10,000 miles. Very very clean and best of all did not smell like cigarettes/cigars. National is my go to car rental.
Please be aware if you are local and only have a debit card they will not rent to you. I had to come back early from a trip for emergency business and my family kept our car on vacation. Went to rental counter, showed her my debit card and was informed they don’t accept debit. Only credit! My debit is instant guaranteed funds! How dumb this policy is! I don’t believe in credit, if you don’t have money don’t get it! So here I am at airport stranded and no car!
Renting through National at MCI was one of the easiest most pleasant experiences. Picking up and dropping off was simple and in a matter of minutes I was on my way - coming and going! What is usually one of the more labor intensive parts of travel was one of the easiest.
As a member of their Emerald Club I was able to walk past a line of people at the counter...find a friendly employee outside and then select a vehicle of my choice. I was in need of trunk space and found this via the van I selected. The vehicle worked well, had good gas mileage and my return was as quick as my retrieval. Thank you.
Decent vehicle & was comfortable. Extremely poor communication from National regarding picking up the rental and after ... they did not provide any paperwork for the rental itself, took a month to invoice me after the vehicle was returned, and attempted to over-charge me for 3 days ($500+) when the rental rate was already astronomical. To top it off more, they signed me up to an email list asking me to submit review, so here they go.

Excellent service! Walked right past the counter to my line of cars, picked out my car and drove to the exit. Took about 3 min at the exit and I was on my way. Turn in was the same efficient way. Definitely continue to use National!
Plenty of vehicles to chose from and friendly staff. While the location is a bit far from the airport, so are all the other rental cars. The car we rented was very clean and very comfortable. The rental process was smooth and quick.
Had a very poor experience at this Location. I’m at the execute elite tier with National and expected better. I’ve already received great service throughout the country with National but ran into major issues with this particular location.
Easy rental process. Didnt have my vehicle class so they provided one up. Charged me an additional day because vehicle was picked up early. Check your charges! Not flexible on return times like other rental companies. Considering who I will rent from in the future. Overall great customer service and process

This was my first time renting from National. Based on this experience I will likely never rent from National again - certainly never at the Kansas City airport. The attendants took FOREVER to check everyone in to their reservation. Once I did get checked in there was an equally long line outside of people waiting on cars! There guys working the lot were literally running around trying to find cars to give to people. Craziest thing I’ve seen at a rental lot.
My first time renting a car from National and I was very pleased. The entire process was very easy. All of the employees were very helpful, and friendly. Car was super clean and as expected.

Twice. Twice I have returned a car here before hours and they have not checked it back in and I get a call to extend my rental, delays in my receipt which causes issues with expense reporting at my company. If you cant handle off hours returns then be open 24 hours but this is completely ridiculous.UPDATE:. Make it three times. Three times and this time I returned during hours. If negative stars were possible I would go there. If you want a place that literally cannot do the thing you are paying them for go rent from this location
Executive Aisle election is no where near what it used to be. Cars are bottom tier selections. Cars also smell like ashtrays. They have stopped holding people accountable for smoking in cars or just take the money and never remediate.
I always have a positive experience with National all across the country.
This place is a zoo! So many cars going all over. We rent here weekly for my husbands work. Its not some place Id go by choice, but they are efficient enough. Faster than the other options.
This location was the best.We rent a few times each month for business. The last 2 out of 4 National experiences (Dallas & LA) were beyond awful, but their corporate customer service team tried to make it right.We decided to use them again, and this location exceeded our expectations. The guy working the exit checkout on February 3rd should be promoted to train people at other locations. He was so friendly and fast.The return process was great as well. This location is much better than the other nationals. We will use it again when we are in Kansas City.
I rent from National alomst every week for business. My experience is always great. The have a great selection of cars and the staff is always pleasant. I would like to give a speacial thanks to Jared Kelly for his outstand customer service.
Late night arrival, catch a shuttle from the airport, arrive, place looks closed. Find a security guard who says go out back and pick a car and check out on the way out the gate.. Weird. Its raining, jump in the nearest compact car, drive off and check out at the gate. Easy-peasy. Unhappy with the vehicle, try to call to talk to someone but they just never pick up... Listened to the recording for like a half hour. Ended up just driving back and talking to them in person - way better idea. Quickly switched out the vehicle with no fuss.
First time using National. I liked the car selection. The car had less than a 1/4 tank on pick up and had small amounts of trash left in it. Not what you would expect during covid.National Rental Agreement 233539349

The people were very nice and helpful but the vehicle was still covered with mud and the cup holders were dirty.
The counter personnel at Enterprise (MCI) were very helpful in moving our reservation from the Manhattan airport to MCI. The reservation group in Mexico City were lacking in their ability to perform.
Hello. National car who handles Alamo reservations now have left my previous reservation open after I have returned the car. Surprisingly, I’ve received $1622.36 transaction on my credit card 3 days later. To be clear, I went inside after stopping the car at the return sign. I got in line until reached to the front disk. An agent there ask me what he can do, I said I am returning Alamo car and handled him the reservation paper. He, ask if I still have the key, I told him it is in the car. He, was like what do you need then? And I was wondering there for a while but I asked I just should leave then. He said the guy outside is going to send me a receipt after finishing the other cars. So, I apologized and I went out in my way. Just later I discovered that no one has closed this reservation yet. I couldn’t believe it! Where it went wrong?I mean they where nice and everything was good until this unfortunate had happened.Update: I emailed them and they said they are going to see about this and call me about it. It has been a month and I have never received a call.
Do not rent from National at MCI airport. I went to the Executive area to get a car and there were no cars there. A National employee walked me over to an SUV in an Executive spot and told me to take that one. I was charged $1000 more than was quoted and so far no one from National will do anything or call me back. Complete bait and switch. As a long time National Executive Elite member I will not rent from them again if they dont fix this. Be warned.
Always use National, however recently ran into an issue with the KNC airport location i returned a car and it wasnt until a week later they actually turned the car in. It had even been leased out to another person, that makes me uneasy as I use this for work and I try to always have documents turned it. I love National but this is the 2nd time something like this has happened and then I have to spend a day or two tracking down customer service and emailing and calling to show it was turned in and luckily I take photos of the miles and gas when I leave the car or I would be in trouble.

Not impressed with customer service and unresponsiveness from Austin and his team at KC airport / MCI. Neither Austin, his team nor anyone from the region office have returned a call after incorrectly billing despite the Corporate office contacting them.Surprising.
I personally have nothing but great reviews and experience with National Car Rental. The MCI Airport National facility had it altogether. The organization was attentive, friendly, and more professional than I ever expected let alone anticipated.
I signed up for the Emerald Club and used the service for the first time last week. It was about as easy as renting a car could possibly be.
We paid 250$ for a car rental and they told me that i couldnt get the car because I didnt have a credit card. I was not completely informed on that i had to have a plane ticket to be able to get the rental because i live in the state so i dont know how im gunna get a plane ticket when im not getting on a plane they charged me almost 100$ to cancel my 250$ rental purchase and wouldnt give me my full refund terrible customer service will be bringing to Twitter and Facebook
National is the only company we rent from. Have always been happy - love the ability to bypass the counter and pick a vehicle and go! :) However, did not love the HUGE 1-day extension charge recently during our vacation. It ended up being about 1/3 of our total weeks rental cost, just by adding one day. Feels like a penalty for a loyal customer.
National People are always professional and courteous. They graciously let me keep my Executive Status even this is the first time I have traveled for over a year.
Wow no selection of American made cars. MCI had only 5 cars and a van to choose from on the emerald aisle. The employee’s all were super attentive and helpful. I understand why the reason for the car shortage, I do wish the cars windows were free of bugs and heavy water spots. The car windows would be the only thing I would blame National.
Superior Customer Service. Pulled in to return the car and mentioned I was running late for my flight. Service Rep went above and beyond and offered to drive me over to the terminal so I could make my flight. Made it with 5 minutes to spare. If Id waited for the bus, I would have missed the flight and been stuck overnight.Sincere thanks to Jared at the MCI Kansas City National site. Hopefully this makes it your bosses.

EVERYTIME I have returned car (always early) I have received an extra day charge on my credit card. Time entered is always later than actual return for some reason and additional day charges. Customer service always friendly, nice but this is rediculous
It was an all-good rental experience. Check-in, vehicle, lot support, return, etc.However, the 0.5 gallon of fuel charge upon my return?? I topped off the tank at the gas station closest to the airport. 2 miles away. Theres no way I used a 1/2 gallon of fuel driving 2 miles.Id be curious to learn how you measure a 1/2 gallon short fall.So, all good - but the seeming mini-gouge at the end-of-rental seems a bit underhanded. Enough such that I wont be using National again on principle.ADDENDUM: 2 star rating changed to 4 star rating. I reached out to National and was subsequently credited for the 0.5 gallon of gas.
This rating is solely based on my rental from last week at MCI in Kansas City. I travel to KC almost weekly and I usually have no issues getting a vehicle. This particular day, there were only two cars. One was Mustang and the other some sort of sports car. The weather/roads were not good, so those were not safe choices. There were also several hundred cars that were sitting in the service lot being cleaned up. The attendant said they werent washing because of the cold. My thought question was, then why no cars? Were in a pandemic?? I waited for 30 mins. until someone drove a Camry up, which still wasnt suitable. If there isnt enough help to simply vacuum a car and put gas in it, I get it. I still cant understand though,how you had almost zero cars on your entire zone in the rental area??? The turn around on returned vehicles clearly needs to be addressed, especially due to the fact that not washing them should make things much faster.
I have been renting from National for over 10 years for work. I went to rent a car for personal use from my local airport (MCI) and they demanded a $400 deposit. I was extremely annoyed.
Terrible experience, i paid for a luxury vehicle and the up charged me without my consent for a elite vehicle when that was the only vehicle they had available for me. I also called to extend my trip on a RECORDED LINE where they lied to me about the price to extend my trip 3 times and decided to charge me $800+ Instead of the $250+ i was quoted over the phone 3 times! Such a terrible experience

I just got back from vacation and checked my credit card. I have an extra day rental fee on my account from National. I turned my rental in on time, but there was no one at the drop off area. My return time was 8:30 and I had it in by 8:10. I followed the instructions on leaving the keys in the car. I took photos of the car with my rental agreement at drop off area showing that I dropped it off on time. I even talked to a National employee before leaving for airport and he reassured me that I had it back on time and they will check it in later that night. He told me that they check the cameras to verify that cars were in on time when no one is working the drop off area. Im very upset that I got an extra day charge. I shouldnt have to go through all the hassle to get this charge removed.
I had a wonderful experience at the national site at OHara Airport, I was in and out in less than 15 minutes.
Had to wait 45 mins for reservations that I made a week ago.
So easy. Become a member of the Emerald Club. No standing in line, just walk to the Emerald Aisle and pick the car you want and off you go. We were on a road trip looking at colleges and were able to pick up in one state and drop off in another without any hassles. I only use National for both my personal and business needs.
The vehicles were still dirty when picked up in Kansas City airport. I had a corporate rate because I rent almost every week then I dropped it off at Tulsa and they charged me almost double. I ask why they doubled my rate they said because I dropped it off at another location.
Forgot to top off the gas and they didn’t rip me off with an exorbitant fee. Very appreciated and a great way to treat a customer.
Really dissapointed in National right now. My son travels weekly with his job and rents from National all the time. Hes VIP with them. Last week he flew to Denver and rented a vehicle for his personal use and when he was ready to return, and when he realized they where charging him miles, when he rents weekly the mileage is always unlimited. So he tried to return the car where he rented it and they told him he had to drive it back to Kansas city. They forced him to pay the extra mileage back to kc. They charged him $785.00 for a weeks rental. Totally unfair of National. This is how they treat their VIP customers. Hes very unhappy with them and Im dissapointed in National as well. He tried to get them to work with him, but they refused and charged him the full 785.00 dollars. Update the rental company said to bad, your loss. Basically. Denver forced him to spend almost 500 more bucks. Very dissapointed.
Im loyal to National and only try to rent through them if possible. The last couple of times I rented from IAH (Houston) and MCI (Kansas City) and both times, there were no cars available so I had to wait for awhile. No big deal, but this last time at MCI, the car smelled heavily like weed and continued to smell that way all week. I had customers in the car, we were looking through every nook and cranny trying to find it, but didnt. I didnt get charged for the smell because I let them know, but how it was available to rent is beyond me.
The personnel are five stars consistently. Very polite, professional, and helpful. I rate the company three stars because in the past three months the company gutted the inventory in Kansas City, where I travel to several times a month. Who wants to drive a minivan?

Great experience with Natoinal last week. Plenty of selection in the Executive section. Car was clean and with moderate amount of mileage on vehicle. Check out fast and efficient. Check in efficient. Received email of my receipt timely.
Very poor customer service. Girl at the front check-out station was very rude and didn’t try to help other then bragging that this was her job so she knows what she’s talking about. Not how you treat a customer.
I was happy getting a premium car given the Emerald Aisle was empty, but the car was very dirty on the outside, the hood had a big scratch, and the interior glass hadn’t been cleaned in a long time and was quite foggy. I had to obtain cleaning chemicals and clean the windshield myself to drive safely. This lack of cleanliness didn’t reflect the increased COVID cleaning National claims. One or more of the tires was either out of balance or out of round and caused the ride to be noisy and the car to vibrate. Otherwise the rental was OK.Check out and check in in was easy and efficient as always. I like being able to choose a car on the Emerald Aisle, allowing me to drive vehicles I otherwise might not experience.
No cars available at the time of reservation. The attendant said thats typical. Upon return, the lot was blocked be a National van, preventing entry to lot. Shortly after, an employee slowly strolled across the parking lot and set up cones before removing the van. No sense of urgency for a customer who had a flight to catch. After returning the car, there was no bus available for return to airport. Fifteen minutes later a bus arrived. I nearly missed my flight because of the poorly run return service.
I was impressed with my first experience with National. Getting the auto selected was a bit confusing for my first time, but National has a great selection / variety of autos to choose from. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was I felt the car could have been cleaner. The first one I got in didn’t appear to have been wiped down, so I selected another one. The drop off great.
Excellent service and clean cars. I am at the Executive Level for Emerald Club now, and have never had a bad experience with National. Some rental units at competitor companies are kicked up and seem over used. Like they should be at auction already. I have never encountered this with National units. I pay a little more than the cheaper competitors, but it is worth it. I recently rented a BWM 330i...sweet ride. Im still talking about it. Thanks for the consistent quality service.
Recently rented for a 2 week business trip. When I reserved, I specified the brand car I wanted. (My coworker also did). Upon arrival, selection was extremely bare and struggled to get our needed vehicle OEM. My coworkers car was absolutely disgusting inside, not cleaned at all from the pig that dropped it off. My car was clean on the inside but filthy on the outside. I had to go get a car wash myself because they weren’t cleaning outsides.
The collection in the executive aisle are very slim and there is no difference in cars for aisle and executive aisle. When asked the person near the aisle if we can get another car. He was rude and just replied these are the only ones and cannot get any. Have been renting at national other airports this is one of the worst experiences to be faced.
Painless rental highly recommend National
I rented a car from Kansas City Airport. It was awful. Got in late at night. Very few cars available in Emerald Isle, only minivans. They pulled around a dodge pickup, No one else wanted it so we took it. Nice pickup but had awful smell to it! Had to leave windows down most of my trip due to smell. Also very dirty, had food on floor board, pop bottle lids in console, and brown liquid spilled on back seat floorboard. Definitely had been smoked in and my daughter has asthma.
Since Im an Emerald Club member I was able to walk right out to a car and go to avoid the lines, this was awesome! I got a brand new mini van that was clean and well appointed.
I’ve been renting cars from the airport for 10 years. This was my first time using national and will be my only time. We went to rent a car and got help from the agent. During the write up for the vehicle, an agent by the name of Jerod Kelly decided to stand walk over to the counter when he seen us come to the counter. He stood over the shoulder of the black rep as if he was going to give us some homie discount. I asked him why he was standing over his back and he stated it’s what I wanna do in a very unprofessional way. Nationals Emerald Aisle selection process makes picking a car easier than any other car company.With Executive Status, they also have the best upgrade selection available in the industry at their company owned sites.Redemption of awards and special rewards programs like One,Two, Free makes the Emerald Club the best rental rewards program available.Hoping they make one slight change to their rewards program to extend the expiration of earned rewards as they have a short shelf life.
At MCI airport, the National rep outside was extremely rude not only to me but multiple other customers. I will never return to National when I am in Kansas City.

National Car Rental has always done an Outstanding Job.Most recently I traveled to Kansas City where I rented a 2019 Charger for 5 days, from the time i took possession to returning the Car I was impressed.The only thing I have found recently is that the exterior of the vehicle is not as Clean as my past experiences. Lots of Dust and water spots to the point I have to take the car to a Professional Car Wash.Other than that I would say my experience with National Car Rental is Outstanding, I would never use any other Car Rental.Thank youDonald Murphy
This “reservation” was an absolute joke. We “reserved” a convertible (Ford Mustang or Equivalent) 3 months in advance for pickup at the MCI Kansas City Airport for a full month 30 day rental. Upon arrival, we were sent out to the parking lot, where, there were zero convertibles waiting. We asked the attendant if there were any convertibles left and he said “No, you’ll have to try again tomorrow, we’re expecting some to show up”. We asked if there were any in the car wash and Quinton said “let me look”. He disappears. After 20 minutes of waiting, a passing supervisor notices we are just standing on the curb with our luggage and asks if he can help. Before we get through the story, the supervisor sees Quinton pulling around the car wash in a low end convertible, and says “ah, there you are” and walks back inside. Quinton pulls up and gives us the car and then says “So I have you a convertible here. I did test the convertible top but it looks like a customer broke it and it won’t go down”. We stare at him for several seconds. He stares back.“So you don’t have any convertibles...”“Yes we do, but the top does not work”.“We need a manager please.”Quinton then proceeds to get back into the “convertible” and slams the door. He speeds off at an alarming rate of speed, tires screeching and slipping, out towards the car wash again.Jason, his manger, was notified and we were asked to return the following day for our actual reservation. We were given a temporary car for the day but had to drive to and from the airport twice (2.5 hrs unnecessarily) for a reservation that was never held).Just like Seinfeld, “so you’re good at TAKING the reservation, just not HOLDING the reservation”
This was my first time using National Car Rental services. If you havent tried them out for car rental, I highly suggest it. The process was super streamlined and the vehicles seemed to be of a higher caliber. The customer experience at KCMO hopefully will be similar at the next National Rental location Im at!

Not a lot more to say.Like the commercial says, losing the wait is awesome!On a specific note, the team at the KC airport were especially friendly and did a great job expediting the small rush they had when our flight arrived.They had a great system for pickup and for the drop-off process, all of it ran smoothly and was a great experience. I reserved a midsize car using the Emerald Aisle. Unfortunately, there were only minivans available. I do not enjoy driving minivans,
It was a good experience with National Car Rental at the KC airport. Waiting in line took awhile but thats to be expected when flights arrive at the same time. Customer Reps were very polite - other customers not so much.
My car was ready, was clean, personnel were available to assist if necessary, process was very smooth.
I choose Emerald Isle so I can avoid lines (and now contact) and more importantly, so I can pick my own car. Now for the good and the bad. The good is that there was a long line to rent a car, which I avoided. The bad was that there were ZERO cars to choose from, just pick-up trucks. This was going to be a problem since I was going to be driving my elderly in-laws around KC to shop for a new home. Rather than go all the way back inside and wait in line, I reluctantly and disappointingly chose one of the trucks.I used 2 of my 3 earned days to rent from National, to whom I have been a very loyal patron over the years, even though I was only a few hours past 24 hours. Not sure I will stick with National based on this experience.
Picked up a car very early. They did not clean any of the cars that were turned in the night before so I was not given an economy sedan. Fine I can deal with that. We were given one option out of all the vehicles. We were told it was a free upgrade which was a ford SUV. Not an upgrade... huge gas hog.Got in the car and the car was halfcleaned - chip crumbs and white stains on the seats. Hoping that was cleaner. On top of that the seat belts smelt like someones BO and the charging ports didnt work.Tons of hidden fees after turn in. 2 stars because employees were cool

Good experience with this company. Cars are well maintained. I love that I can choose a car right out of the lot. Ive always rented with national and will continue to do so.
