Best haircut Ive ever had. Once you experience a real Barber and not a cookie cutter great clips stylist youll never go back. The barbers are friendly and do a great job. Fair warning they do stuff the old fashioned way you gotta have an appointment and its all on paper. Call or stop by to get on their busy calendars you wont regret it.

Great place. They do a awesome job! Some things to note, call and make a reservation also they take cash only.Edit: I am sad to have to change my rating to 2 stars. You used to be able to schedule a beard trim and it would cost you 10, now to schedule a beard trim it will cost you 20. I will find another place to go.

These guys are both great. John and Vince are two of the best barbers Ive ever been to - maybe even THE best. The shop is simple with no frills, although the chairs are very comfortable. The quality of the cut, fair price, and wonderful customer service makes this the place to go.Short version: best barber shop in town.

Great skills, I got a straight razor beard shave/trim and haircut for $45. The shop has an old school feel and these guys really know what theyre doing. Definitely coming back and supporting a great local business.

Used to go here when I lived in the River Market in 09-10 and always had great cuts from John. Moved up North and went back for the first time in 7 years and he remembered my name and where I work(ed). Top 3 spots in all of KC.

John and Vince are great guys. Haircuts are quick and done well. Gillis is an old school barber shop so if youre looking for a hot new style - this may not be your place. But, if you are a man looking for a traditional or business cut or a hot shave there is no better place.

I only write reviews when I have an experience at one extreme or the other. The guys at Gillis Barber Shop are fantastic. Extremely friendly, great barbershop environment, clean facilities, and a great cut. Inexpensive but extremely well done. I was from out of town and if you are coming into KC and need a hair cut, Gillis is the place. Fantastic.

Great place to get a haircut and a shave. They remember your name and how you like your hair and make you feel welcome. It is a great barber shop and you will get a true barber shop experience, in and out and done correctly.

Good old fashion barber shop in City Market. My cut was good when I needed one at the last minute.

Worst ever. Couldnt even have a haircut done. Such bad behavior! I made two reservations for my dad and my brother. There were at 11:30 and 12:00 respectively. We showed up at 11:40 so he cancelled my dads appointment and I was quite okay with that. But he also cancelled my brothers appointment too. When asked why he said because we didnt show up at 11:30 he thought we were not gonna show up for 12:00 either. Such an insolent behavior, shouting and scaring my dad with police. Never ever again! Not recommended either!

Pricing is very fair and the guys are very talented I’ve honestly never had a better haircut and beard trim.Also the parking isn’t bad... It’s river market so Saturday mornings are busy but other that that it’s no worse than anywhere else.

These guys are great. Its a little expensive for a simple haircut. I can go elsewhere and get a similar cut for half the price, but they shave around the ears, sideburns and back of the neck with a straight edge razor and hot shaving cream which is pretty awesome. Very traditional barber shop.

I love this place! Easy to access, good prices - most importantly they take reservations.

Expensive and often sloppy, but its an old school barber, you get the feeling your privileged to even get in for a quick haircut. They stay busy because its the location. Poor customer service, no walkins and as soon as anouther barber opens up in the area i am sure they will be out of work. but tell then.. its the only place to get a hair cut if your in the area.
